  • Illnesses and injuries
  • Breed-specific conditions
  • Comprehensive dental
  • Complete sick visit
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Veterinary exam fees
  • Virtual vet visits

Insurance Plans & Pricing

The cost of your premiums will depend on factors such as the cost of vet care in your area and your pet’s breed, age and medical history.

We entered the details for a 4-year-old Golden Retriever and received a quote of $74.15 per month, which includes a $15,000 maximum annual payout, a $300 annual deductible and 80% reimbursement.

When we entered the information for a 3-year-old mixed-breed cat, we received a quote of $19.66 per month. This plan had a $5,000 maximum annual payout, $250 annual deductible and 70% reimbursement.

Each of the above policies would qualify for a $25 Walmart gift card, which you can use to buy pet food and supplies from Walmart.

Walmart Pet Insurance also offers the following discounts:

  • Automatic discount of up to 10% on new policies
  • 15% Healthy Pet Credit for those who go a year without filing a claim

You can save even more money on your policy if you pay quarterly or annually, and all policies include risk-free 30-day cancellation policy.

Note: these prices were obtained in August 2021, based on a New York zip code and they are subject to change. Prices can be adjusted based on the amount of coverage you would like. Look for the ‘customize price’ link

What is Not Covered

Your policy won’t cover routine vet visits, such as:

  • Annual check-ups
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Spaying/neutering
  • Vaccinations

Like other pet insurance providers, Walmart Pet Insurance cannot cover pre-existing conditions.

Waiting Periods

The amount of time you’ll need to wait before making a claim will vary depending on the state you live in, but it won’t exceed 15 days. One exception to this is your pets’ hips or knees. This waiting period could be as long as 6 months, but Walmart Pet Insurance may waive this period if your pet receives a healthy check-up on his or her knees before your policy starts.

Coverage Limits

You can customize your maximum annual payout, with $5,000, $15,000 or unlimited as your options.

Reimbursement and deductibles

If you take out a Walmart Pet Insurance policy, you can choose reimbursement rates of 70%, 80%, or 90%.

You can also select deductible rates of $250, $300, or $500. For an indication of the impact of deductibles on premiums, we ran a series of quotes for a 2-year-old German Shepherd, choosing an 80% reimbursement rate and $15,000 maximum payout. We varied only the deductible each time.

DeductibleMonthly premium
$250$65.84
$300$59.95
$500$48.17

We then repeated this process for a 1-year-old Abyssinian cat.

DeductibleMonthly premium
$250$28.61
$300$26.71
$500$21.50

These prices were obtained in August 2021, based on a New York zip code, and are subject to change.

Claims and Service

If your pet is sick or injured, you can take them to any licensed vet in the U.S. Once your pet has received treatment, you can submit a claim online or with the Petplan app by sending in a photo of your paid bill.

The majority of claims are approved within 15 days, and payments are then processed the following business day. If you enroll in direct deposit, you’ll get paid back 3-5 days faster than if you elect to get paid by a paper check.

Agents are available (via Petplan) over the phone from 8 AM to 7 PM (ET) Monday to Friday, and 10 AM to 6.30 PM (ET) on Saturday. Alternatively, you can receive live chat support between 8.30 am and 6.30 pm (ET) Monday to Friday. You can also use the Petplan app to chat with an agent.

What You Might Like

When we ran a series of quotes, we found the site user-friendly. The site used simple, jargon-free language and we located all the information we needed in less than 2 minutes. In addition, if you value flexibility, you may be reassured to learn that the company offers risk-free cancellation for up to 30 days.

What Walmart Pet Insurance could do better

The provider’s policies don’t cover routine visits, which means your protection only comes into play in an emergency.

Bottom Line

A newcomer to the market, launched in 2020, Walmart Pet Insurance offers a comprehensive range of features. Its discount of up to 10% for new customers is certainly a selling point. Likewise, the risk-free cancellation for up to 30 days could be especially valuable for those who are on the fence about signing up. All in all, we found Walmart Pet Insurance is competitively priced and well-rounded. Walmart Pet Insurance offers all the core services dog and cat parents are likely to need.

FRAUDULENT charges
The cost of my insurance has gone from about 500 the first year to 1200 this year. They say this is bc of the area and breed of dog I have... Seems like an easy way to just increase prices! I also noted a fraudulent charge on my credit card from them and NO ONE has followed up. Do yourself a favor and choose another company. Their customer support is very rude and unhelpful. I hope this review saves 1 person and their pet from this awful company.

Scammer !!!!!!!!!!
Fetch by the Dodo (previously known as Petplan) is an unethical, untrustworthy and horrible company. For someone who is planning to enroll pet insurance, it’s better to avoid this company. I enrolled the pet insurance for my dog aged 3 months in 2021. At that moment, there was no medical check up report request but I was asked for it when I submitted a claim after 4 months because my dog got diarrhea. I felt upset and frustrated as there was no point to get a medical check up report after a vet visit with spending additional $200 for claiming $150. The most ridiculous point was that a medical report was not required when the pet insurance was enrolled. But you will be asked for it when you make a claim” That was totally unacceptable. They just don’t want to give you a claim !!!!! I received the announcement from Petplan by an email about they exited Canada business. This was a release to me as I do not have to deal with this company anymore. However, they took my card info and debited the annual fee again and refused to refund. I have never authorized Fetch by the Dodo to make a payment from my card after 2021. I called the customer service for a negotiation. Of course, they refused to refund. They have never provided a proper service to their customers but keep stealing the money from their pocket. Recently, I found out that there were a lot bad comments about this company. I write this as I wish no more pet owners will be another victims. As a pet owner, I just want to get a protection to my dog but I am kinda getting in a scam.

Absolute Scammers
Absolute Scammers. Wouldn’t cover the only thing we needed from the plan (Dental) they are not upfront about where to find the fine print, dental has a long waiting period than anything else. I am so glad was only scammed out a few months of payments, as we immediately ended our agreement with petplan after finding out the dental information. I had to work very very hard to get it but I even got a few month refund as I was paying into a service I couldn’t even use. Shady shady scammers. I will never pay unto any insurance plan associated with petplan ever. When I pressed more about getting the dental (we were a month away) they absolutely refused to make an exception, citing “scammers who get dental coverage and then cancel” I bet the situation is more like… petplan refuses to cover anything and makes up random extra fees and pet owners have no option but to cancel and they cannot afford to continue after paying the vet and petplan To top it all off they talked down to me, like I should have insured my cat when she was younger… well tell me how I am able to do that when we adopted her from a no kill shelter at the age of 6? Guess I’ll hop in my Time Machine so I can adopt from the moment she was conceived. If you’re considering petplan.. I recommend you run quickly in the opposite direction as fast as you can

SCAMMERS
I have been a loyal customer for over a year. Since beginning this policy I have had issues with payment where I have paid and clearly stated on my bank statement however PETPLAN email me stating they have not received the payment and request I pay again. This month I have come to the realisation that if paying for my policy is this much hassle then should I need to make a claim I can only imagine the difficulties I would come across with claiming on my policy. My advice is to take your hard earned money and use a different insurance company, should your furry friend need medical attention I would not trust this company to abide by the contract and pay out.

Paid out every time
We have taken out lifetime cover with PetPlan for our golden retriever since she was a puppy. We have had to claim multiple times over the years for things that have gone wrong. PetPlan deal directly with the vets so all we have to do is pay the £100 excess. They pay out straightaway and have never quibbled a claim. It's so reassuring to know that if something goes wrong with your pet you aren't having to make a cost based decision as you know that you are covered. I would recommend them to anyone, although not the cheapest, the fact they always pay out without quibbling gives us so much peace of mind.

Pet Plan is an Absolute SCAM
Pet Plan is an Absolute SCAM. You’re premium goes up every year excessively in jumps like £15 to £20. Started off at £35 and eight years later is £105 . They cover absolutely nothing . The £780 dental work was considered cosmetic and not covered . I have stopped the insurance now as the first time I make a claim because my dog got sick, nothing was covered because I had to pay 20% excess deductible which was the cost of the visit and so Pet Plan wiggled their way out of paying anything. I paid and they didn’t . I cannot for the life of me understand why I have been paying thousands of pounds over the years and nothing nothing nothing was ever covered under their terms . Pet Plan are a scum insurance . Put your money in a bank account for your pet and pay for things this way . Note I was paying £105 per month for a £4000 coverage Do you know that a simple scan and test was priced at £8000 so even if you have pet insurance your £4000 doesn’t even get you a test result let alone any treatment . And your excess on a £4000 claim will be £800 . So the actual coverage is only £3200. Meanwhile in four years you could have £5000 in your pets bank account and in 8 years over £10,000 saved for treatment . I massively regret paying into Pet Plan all these years . They only care about making money and not you pet.

Please can I talk to an actual person!!
I submitted an online insurance claim for recent treatment for my dog. Although they had apparently emailed my vets the vets had no correspondence from them. I have tried to contact Pet Plan to let them know that I suspect they have used the wrong email but they have not replied! Im desperate for the money back and am at a loss on how to contact them to get this resolved.

Will find any excuse to charge you excesses
I paid £30 - £40 per month for 5 years for pet insurance for rabbits and I wish I had just put it in a savings account as my rabbit developed a skin condition in 2021 and I visited the vet 4 separate occasions for treatment and Petplan found every reason to charge me an excess each time. If you use this company make sure you really understand the policy and what wording your vet or you use for each claim. A waste of nearly £3k :-( I wont make the mistake again.

From Great to Rotten Overnight
Unfortunately I have to agree with other reviewers here. I thought PetPlan/Fetch was AMAZING for the first 3 years, I had never had a pup before and was so thrilled how comprehensive their coverage was when we found out when she was 2 that she had knee issues that needed surgery, PT etc. But SURPRISE! with no advance warning, no apology, and barely even any notice, they have SIGNIFICANTLY downgraded our plan. After multiple questions to understand and speaking to a "supervisor" who clearly has no power, it was explained to me that we had spent too much for how much we had paid in premiums(we have only had her 3 years!). Doesn't this defeat the point of health insurance where we all pool resources to helps the ones who need it? It doesn't matter that she is an otherwise young and healthy pup, or that the issues have significantly improved. We didn't even get close to spending our maximum. There was no warning that we shouldn't USE the pet insurance or it would be downgraded for the rest of her life! I'm so disappointed. BEWARE if you use this insurance that you can lose the coverage you originally signed up for, with no appeal process, no points for better health next year etc. I recommended Fetch to so many friends, but no more: I will be telling everyone who doesn't have insurance to look at Trupanion- you may pay more up front but at least they don't bait and switch you when you need them.

Outrageous premium increases
I find as my dog is getting older they have consistently increased my rates 30% every year. They also hike rates more when the portfolio changes hands. I think they have been bought and sold at least 3 times since I have been a client. I am now paying $240 per month which is outrageous. Definitely will not be using them for our new puppy.

Don't be a dodo.
Don't be a dodo. Find a better company. This is the 2nd time I've left this review because apparently the last one was removed. Since Dodos hostile takeover of petplan, this company is absolutely awful. Premiums go up $100's every year and all you'll get is a "you don't have to do anything! Coverage will continue as normal" email. If you call and get access to your plan policy, it will list things EXTREMELY CLEARLY that are covered..yet they will deny the claim. They utilize the same plans for every person who purchases that policy. Seems fine right? It's not. Vet laws change from state to state. I live in NY (hopefully you don't), and living here, vets have a very specific scope of practice. They treat. Just like you would see a doctor. If your pet needs behavior therapy or canine rehab, etc., you will need to see that specific certified specialist within this state. The way dodo writes their policies is that even though you have coverage for behavioral training or canine rehab therapy, THEY ARE ONLY COVERED IF PERFORMED BY A LICENSED VET. Vets must be separately certified through additional courses, therefore, legally, my vet is unable to provide behavioral therapy. It's literally the law. So unless you live in a tiny little town where there's 1 vet for 50 miles who got certified in everything, petplan will just deny your claim. WHY ARE THEY ABLE TO DO THIS? I'll tell you why. Any claim you've ever had with them will not be covered if you switch to a different company. They know that and will not hesitate to tell you that. So if your pet is on a medication, when you switch insurance providers, they will not cover that medication as it is "pre-existing." Dodo is using this information to strong-arm their customers into paying increased rates for Sh!tty service. And petplan used to be amazing too...

Quality Service from Petplan
We have been a customer of Petplan for many years. Unfortunately we have had to make a number of claims over the last few years, particularly for one of our cats. Petplan have been consistently quick and efficient in settling the claims and always with reasons and clear explanations for their decisions. Sadly we have just lost this cat and they offered their condolences, paid the claim and instigated cancellation of the policy. Whilst not the cheapest, they are worth every penny.

Total and absolute waste of money
Total and absolute waste of money . Open a bank account for your pet and divert £50 a month in there instead. I started pet plan at £35pm ten years later it’s £102pm. Pet plan DOES’NT cover anything. Nothing but emergency life or death care . Every time I go to the vet I pay from pocket £350 for this infection £750 for teeth removal / dental care, injections/ shots, check up and petplan doesn’t cover anything . The one time it did was 8 years ago when my dog got hepatitis and then your limit of coverage is a MEAR £4000 that equated to 4 nights in the pet hospital and some analysis. After 4 nights of paying extortionate fees for my dog to sleep in a cage at the pet hospital I was told she needed a £2000 scan but the mere useless pathetic pet plan coverage allowance is limited at £4000 these costs covered ONLY SLEEPING at the hospital AND MONITORING AND POOF IT WAS ALL GONE . No operations no medications nothing. Petplan would not come even a FRACTION close to covering for operations or any real issues . The coverage that Pet plan covers your pet equates to your pet getting a £4000 plaster but will be far far far close from covering any real sickness. And for this pittance of a payout I now pay £102 every month . My dog was given back to me after the £4000 was used up in 4 days and I was told there was nothing more they could do unless we were ready to spend additional thousands out of pocket . We don’t have that money . We took our dog and left making plans for her to die. I decided to Google for help and found a high protein diet can essentially encourage the liver to mend and so I ( not the vet not petplans stingy payouts) saved my dogs life . She is still alive by the care and actions I took without the help of any scam insurance company like Petplan . A years fees, 12 months at £102 pm equates to £1,224 times this by ten years is £12,240 I spent to get £4000 coverage . Pet plan makes no sense . They jack up the prices yearly and cover nothing apart from a fraction of the cost if you are in need. Get a bank account for your pet and put in £50 a month and then that money will be yours to keep if your pet stays well . I will NEVER NEVER NEVER USE PET INSURANCE AGAIN . What an absolute SCAM . They are into profiteering from the sick animals.

Easy to claim and no issues when paying out. I have had petplan for 7 years to cover my dog and never had any issues . I usually pay a £100 excess initially but after that they have paid out all claims and I can claim directly through my vet which is a great service and you don’t have the hassle of completing forms. I think there are various pet insurance companies and none are perfect, however petplan is one of the best out there.

Used to be great but just not the same
Used to be great but just not the same. My dog got bitten by an adder. Pet plan excluded him for a large number of unrelated conditions. My vet pointed out the conditions should be removed and even after a few years they would not. The underwriters hide behind a call centre whose staff are not equipped to understand or deal with their ridiculous rules (through no fault of their own). I had been a customer of theirs for over 30 years but never again. I used to recommend them when they were good but all they want to do now is squirm out of their responsibility to their clients.

I can't imagine any better insurance company for pets. Highly recommended company. Thank you very much, Sandeep kumar

Last year we purchased a Burmese kitten from a registered breeder in NZ. The kitten came with one month's insurance with Pet Plan. Unfortunately our kitten became unwell soon after we got him home. He had three acute viral infections and needed two nights acue treatment at the vets. When we went to claim the $2000 from Petplan- they declined stating the kitten became unwell on day 6 and their cover did not kick in until day 7. They did not reconsider in spite of correspondence and support from our vet.We informed the breeder who has now changed from Petplan. WE WILL NEVER DEAL WITH PETPLAN AGAIN.

I still have a huge open claim that they keep telling me they have sent me a check for and I have not yet received it .Every time I call I get the same information.it is impossible to get to someone to give me a straight answer. I am waiting for over $4000. My dog will be 12 in July and I pay them on time every single month for over 11 years. Recently due to his age my plan almost doubled. I have barely used insurance for him as fortunately he has not had many accidents or major illnesses over his lifetime and I had not purchased simple wellness insurance . He had a major injury recently and it was my first big claim. I don't feel after all these years and spending all this money I should be getting a run around waiting for over $4000 from them. If your claim is under 500 they will direct deposit your money, and if not good luck getting your money!!

I wasted 54 mins on phone getting a quote. I was twice referred to Underwriter who initially tried to exclude all arthritis in any part of body, despite only more likely to occur in our dogs rear legs, due to Luxating Platella. Underwriter changed mind after lengthy debate. However, also tried to exclude literally any ear related issues, with no previous history of ear issues. Underwriter stated more likely to have ear infection due to previous dermititis with unspecified cause and on chest, never ears. Any issue could mean also not covering for damaged ear or infected ear not in any way due to dermititis scratching. If Underwriter had wanted to exclude 'any ear issue caused by dermitis scratching', I would have understood and agreed. Underwriter agreed not to exclude ears. The original price quoted did not decrease because of exclusions . When I received the policy, it was not what we agreed to. Any ear issue was still excluded. I had Petplan Insurance for sixteen years previously and was not treated dishonestly before. I absolutely would not waste time again in ever seeking a quote from them. They are certainly not what they seem to be.

Not the peace of mind it seems
What an almighty rip off - have been with Pet plan for years and find every way not to pay out with excessive and increasing yearly premiums as your pets age. Seriously -I urge anyone considering a policy - to review the option of putting money in the bank each month. A surprising number of vets agree this is a better option.

Buyer beware….terrible…terrible…terrible! Submitted for a new condition and claims were not paid because they said I did not submit within 90 day period. So that creates scenario that any issues I needed paid were within my deductible. Terrible customer service, tereible app, terrible communication, expensive and worthless when needed the most! Thanks for nothing Petplan or Fetch the dodo or whatever you call yourself these days! Corporate infighting and court fights have ruined this company.

This company is terrible
This company is terrible. They try to force you to filter all interactions through their app, which is extremely buggy and constantly freezes or crashes. I am unable to open my policy documents from the app, as I simply receive a "file corrupted" error. The live chat feature takes forever to get you to a real person and even then, their answers are clearly scripted and anything more complicated than a yes or no question will get you a "we'll have someone call you" response. Don't expect that call. They gave me the runaround on the phone about how to appeal a claim. They actively seek ways to turn down your claims and then are condescending about your "misunderstanding of policy coverage." I'd love to quote my coverage to them, but I can't open my documents from my app. Funny... They recently gave me a hard time about not taking my eight week old puppy to the vet in the 60 days prior to coverage, despite the fact that I did not own her until the policy started. I was penalized for being a proactive owner. Another interesting choice by this company. They also claimed a condition that was not seen until her adult teeth sprouted was "pre-existing" and refused to cover treatment, which was extremely expensive. When I attempted to gain more information about what they deem a "pre-existing condition," their own website gave me a "not found" error message after being redirected from the aforementioned buggy app. At this point, I have paid hundreds of dollars to a company that has given me zero dollars in return. I would never recommend this company to any owner and will never insure another pet of mine through them again. Hard pass. Save yourself the headaches!

Will never use this company to have pet insurance with again. Submitted my claim in August and kept getting the run around each time I called. Told all the documents were there just needed review and to wait a couple weeks. Call back again and same conversation. It is now Jan 2022 and still nothing. I have cancelled my policy and would caution anyone considering to use this company for their pet insurance.

I have had petplan, now fetch, for 4 years. I have 7 pet with them now and is a complete necessity for my family. There have been numerous issues and illnesses that have come up over the years. Without fetch, I would not be able to afford my pets. Customer service is always amazing and never any issues with them. Spoke with Stacey a few days ago to update some information and add on a new pet and she was so kind and sweet. Patient as well!

I just recently called to look for insurance for my pet that has a pre-existing medical condition and immediately right off the bat- the agent stated that no pet insurance covers pre-existing conditions and then proceeded to hang up the phone. It was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I actually have come across pet insurances that offer pre-existing condition coverage. Please train your employees to have better phone skills. I am completely dissatisfied with this insurance and it left a bad taste. There is a way to deliver messages and that just was not the right way.

The lady I spoke with was awesome but the time frame is terrible. My vet submitted the initial claim on Dec 6th. I had to call them after waiting a few weeks to find out where it was at. They then told me they were missing a form (they should have let me know that) which was then submitted and here we are Jan 5th and it’s still not done. I am seriously considering another plan.

VERY EMPATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE
I would like to share my excellent personal experience with the amazing Petplan Pet Insurance/Fetch specifically for Georgia Somerick, Fetch | Member Experience Associate. Georgia, Thank you very much for your Empathy when Helen (Deaf & Blind Furbaby) was rushed to the Vet. because of her Ruptured Cranial Cruciate Ligament. Thank you for listening and showing your Sympathy of what I’ve been through that time. Thank you for being patient and Compassionate during the hardest time of my life, reassuring and praying for my Helen to feel better. Thank you for the prompt response and making sure my Claim was processed right away. Fetch, Thank you and I deeply appreciate all your help with the unexpected veterinary bills/emergency treatment previously and currently with Helen. You are a lifesaver financially and emotionally(Thanks Georgia). I would recommend Fetch Insurance in a heartbeat and paying for 2 Policies (monthly premium) for my 2 LongHaired Chihuahuas are worth the cost because of the financial peace of mind benefits that I’m getting. Is getting a Fetch Insurance worth it?! ABSOLUTELY! Jo-an Tasik Helen’s Mom, a Deaf & Blind LongHaired Chihuahua

PetPlan needs to update their website…
PetPlan needs to update their website to tell customers an annual exam is required. They also need to send an email out reminding customers of that requirement. I left PetPlan for that reason of not being transparent and signed up with another insurer. One of the first emails I got was to stress about having that annual exam to ensure you are covered for claims.

Premiums More Than Tripled When Pet Got Sick
After over 10 years as a loyal customer with multiple pets insured, on New Year’s Eve they raised my premium to $250/month for ONE 10-year-old cat. You can pay for your animal’s entire life and never have a claim for years and years, and the instant you start using the insurance as your pet gets older, they will do their best to make it unaffordable so you have to cancel and they pocket all the money you paid before ever needing the insurance. EDITED TO ADD: Their response is a lie, if you read deep in the fine print on their own site you will find that they have changed their policy since selling out to a hedge fund in 2019 and now "increase premiums or reduce coverage based on your individual pet's claims history." In other words, as I said before, they will kindly allow you to pay them every month while your pet is healthy, but as soon as you need to use the insurance, they will make sure you cannot afford to keep it and are left uninsured. I am exploring the possibility of a class action suit, as this is a violation of my state's laws, so I have declined to identify myself to PetPlan but am leaving this review here to warn others.

PetPlan Satisfaction
I have been with petplan for several years. My bank card has expired a few times and petplan was great about texting me and letting me know so Lady does not lose her coverage. When I call to make the change I have yet to have anyone be rude to me. They have all been great. I do have a question do you have higher coverage rates for little Lady? Thank you Lupe

PetPlan canceled my policy WITHOUT notice
I have been a loyal PetPlan customer since 2010, at one point paying $2700 per year for our two dogs.  When we adopted a 7-month old puppy in March 2021, there was no question we would cover her with PetPlan.  Fast forward 3 months, the credit card we had on file with PetPlan was compromised so it was canceled by the credit card company, hence PetPlan was not able to process her monthly payment.  Does PetPlan email me with this information, send me a letter, or otherwise try to reach me with this information?  No.  They claim they called our home number, but we have no record of that call nor did they leave a message.  You'd think when you're about to cancel someone's INSURANCE policy for nonpayment, you would make a little bit more effort to reach them so they can fix the issue.  No, not PetPlan.  To make matters worse, when I called their customer service to reinstate this policy, all I got was the run around and then eventually ended up talking to a "supervisor" by the name of Don D who said it is NOT PetPlan's POLICY OR PROCESS TO EMAIL CUSTOMERS in situations like this.  Because his response was so unbelievable and ridiculous (and possibly against insurance regulations??), I asked to speak to his supervisor - Don D indicated he will put in the request, yet to this day, no one has called.  PetPlan, this experience has been beyond disappointing and for your sake, I hope Fetch can clean up your act.  At this point, you leave me no choice but to take our business elsewhere.

Do not recommend
Buyers beware, horrible claim experience, at the end of the day, a company can have the fanciest marketing and slickest app but it is how they handle claims that matters. My dog had an ear infection, they reviewed her record and in 2018, she saw the vet due to scratching and allergy was ruled out. But because it was mentioned in her record, they determined that ear infection was allergy related and all future allergy related incidents will not be covered. Worst yet, when I call to cancel the policy, they threaten that no other insurance would cover me because we had a claim. What a terrible company!

She also was the first to walk me through with great compassion and maintained my dignity in understanding how to best submit claims in the most efficient way that worked for me. She didn't even laugh at me for not understanding what all counts as a "portal". I have had the most satisfying experience concerning reimbursement, communication, processing of claims etc. with Anne Wheitsel, Member Experience Associate of your team. We have a purebred German Shepherd and within the last few years we have encountered a multitude of medical issues with him. We have purchased Petplan Pet Insurance since he was a puppy and have not needed their assistance until recently. Working with Anne has provided us with the reassurance that we can seek out the medical attention that our dog needs with the comfort that we are receiving some assistance from the insurance that we are paying for. It has been a gratifying experience and we are grateful for Anne's personal attention to our pets claims!

Experience with Petplan
We have had pet insurance with Petplan since our Dacschund Riley was a puppy. Hoped to never need it but unfortunately Riley got IVDD and needed surgery. The peace of mind that knowing we had Petplan was very comforting. We were very worried about our dog and also very worried about what the process would be like submitting a claim with Petplan - the process was very easy even being online and the support we received from Petplan was wonderful - while they requested added documentation at every turn, it was always the relevant information needed to make the claim and Petplan always guided us when we needed to be guided. Thank you for helping us through this difficult time. Our little girl is doing better every day and walking again. Now our biggest fear will be to see where our insurance renewal goes - but ultimately, we are very happy with the insurance experience Petplan provided and would recommend Petplan to anyone looking for a great pet insurance experience.

My peace of mind
I was a wreck when I returned from work to find my dog had urinated blood on the floor and was feeling ill. After calling the emergency vet to get an appointment I called Mia’s pet insurance (Pet Plan) to ask how to submit a claim. Stacey Johnson calmed me and guided me through the process reassuring me of the coverage. That evening when we returned from the vet, my girl feeling better already with the meds I followed Stacey’s directions and within seconds received an email and text message the claim was going through to be assessed and processed. Thank you for the peace of mind.

A pleasure to work with
My dog unexpectedly got sick very quickly. In a matter of days she went from what we thought was an ear infection to liver cancer which required immediate surgery. Drs were very honest and told us how much everything would cost as we had testing and procedures done. It was a giant relief to be able to say, go ahead and do what needs to be done, we have insurance. In 3 weeks the medical bills came to over $11,000! I was reimbursed for 90 percent with no problem, less than 2 weeks after her surgery. Jennifer was excellent. She called to make sure Lilly was ok and to answer any questions I had. In a very stressful time she made things much easier. I recommend Pet Plan to everyone! Thank you Jennifer for being helpful and caring.

My Senior doggie needed a cataract surgery because he was nearly blind on one eye. I contacted PetPlan's customer service and talked to Anne Wheitsel. This was a very expensive eye surgery and it would have been super expensive without PetPlan insurance. I'm very happy with PetPlan and can highly recommend them and their fast and super friendly service. Thank you so much Anne + PetPlan !!!

MEGAN DESERVES A RAISE.
I had the great pleasure of working with Megan this morning. She walked me thru downloading your app and filing my claim. Originally the call was to ensure my vet clinic had finally filed several claims properly. To my dismay, the largest, for over $5,000, had not been received by Fetch. Even worse, the three month deadline is tomorrow. Of course, my frustration level went thru the roof. Megan handled my frustration with calm and cool professionalism and spent a great amount of time with me. She is a gem. Actually, all the Fetch CSRs' are the same. But Megan demonstrated exemplary customer service today. She is even willing to work with me later today to make sure everything is finally correct. Please consider Megan for any recognition or commendation available.

Petplan saved the day
My 10 year old dog developed pancreatitis. The hospital bill came to $15k plus follow care. Petplan paid out without issue. Jennifer even called at the end of the process to see if I had questions. I had many which she answered. There was not a single problem getting paid. Best of all, I was told that the large payout would not affect next years premiums. After 10 years of insurance with Petplan, I have not had a single problem.

Very greatful for PetPlan
We have had PetPlan insurance for many years with 3 of our dogs. Our first dog had cancer and PetPlan covered his treatments and diagnostics which ended up being over $31,000 by the time we said good bye. It was such a relief to hear about what the vets could offer and be able to do what we could to give him a better quality of life for the time we had left. A year later we got a new pup to join the family and signed him up with PetPlan right away. He is 1.5 years and needed a total hip replacement. We were so grateful he was insured. He is almost 3 weeks in his recovery and our refund is on the way and this encredibly fun pup will get to have a great quality of life because of his surgery that we may have otherwise not been able to do for him. We love this company and can't say enough good things. It is important to understand your policy and what is covered and when you need to file as well as what you need to file. Follow the checklist and it makes it so much easier navigate. I have had a great experience regardless of calling in or chatting with their customer service. We reccomend them as an insurance provider for your fur family.

Jennifer in Customer Care was very helpful and kind when she called with an update today, and I always have good luck reaching representatives when I call with questions or concerns about my policies. Petplan (aka Fetch) has been wonderful with the claims in my pet family, and has saved both my credit history and my peace of mind more than once! Claims are paid out somewhat slowly for the industry (within 15 days), but direct deposit speeds things up. Would love a way to direct-pay vets in the future.

This insurance company is a scam
This insurance company is a scam. I tried to cancel my plan before I sent in my cats wellness check from the vet because I wanted insurance that offered preventative coverage. They prorated my refund making me pay for months I wasn't covered. When I called to check what I was paying for the lady on the phone proceeds to get loud and angry. It was a horrible experience. She just kept spouting off lame excuses why I should pay for services I didn't receive. It's more the principle of the thing tbh. It was only a little over 20 bucks. For them to be so petty and rude for 20 dollars makes me wonder how difficult it would be to get them to pay for a claim. I'm glad I figured this out now instead of hundreds of dollars later.

Horrible Company
UPDATE TO PETPLAN'S RESPONSE: I did call to discuss my other options and if I wanted to keep my monthly payments at $149 per month they would only provide me with a total of $4,000 annually of reimbursement vs. the $15,000 I had for the years prior. Why would I pay them almost $2000 a year for only $4000 in coverage? Petplan also doesn't reimburse you for 100% of your veterinary bills and are nickel and dime-ing you over what is covered. I repeat: Do not waste your money on this horrible company! My dog turned 13-years old, and after paying $149 per month for her lifespan, Petplan raised her monthly premiums to $352 right after her 13th birthday. I called to see if it was a billing error and they said no. The plan renews annually and the rates can increase. It is so wrong to raise the rate by over 100% with no warning (they said they sent a letter which we never received) in the years of my dog's life when she might actually need coverage. They were all too happy and quick to cancel my policy when I said I could not afford a $352 monthly premium because honestly who could. To do this after a global pandemic when people are really truly hurting financially makes it even worse,. Petplan knows I have paid them over $20,000 with little to no reimbursement because my dog has otherwise been fairly healthy. Please learn from my mistake and do not waste your money on this horrible company who doesn't care about providing your pet and it's owner with peace of mind and care. As soon as your dog becomes a senior and they might actually have to reimburse you for costs associated with veterinary bills, they more than double the rates of your policy so you can no longer afford to pay for dog's medical insurance. This is so wrong.

ANNE WHEITSEL ROCKS!!!!
ANNE WHEITSEL ROCKS!! I first became acquainted with Petplan Member Experience Associate, Anne Wheitsel, a couple of months ago, after the death of my beloved Sammy Higgins, who was not a pet to me, but was my precious Baby Boy. Anne easily related to the importance of Sammy Higgins to me, and took the time to talk me through my grief, as well as to relay to me her understanding of what I was going through. I was a total wreck while trying to speak with Anne about how stressed I was trying to take care of Sammy Higgins’ outstanding claims, and other issues, all while dealing with my profound grief. She quickly jumped in without any hesitation, and offered to help me so as to relieve some of my burden. Had it not been for Anne Wheitsel, and her kind and compassionate nature, I don’t know what I would have done. She saw that I needed help, and took charge, and made sure I receive the assistance I needed. She is a Godsend! Anne still helps me whenever I need help. I always know I can count on her, no matter what! She is always courteous and professional, and extremely knowledgeable. One of the best things I can say about Anne, is that she never rushes you off the phone, and makes you feel like you are just another policyholder who is taking up her time. She takes the needed time with you, to make sure your issue gets resolved, and you understand what is that is going on. Anne is always eager to try to help you resolve any problems you may be having, no matter what, and she always does it with grace. When I speak with Anne at Petplan, I am proud to say, I feel like I am her number ONE and ONLY customer! It is my sincere hope that Petplan knows what an asset they have in Anne Wheitsel! They are lucky to have someone of her caliber working on their behalf! Sincerely, Tina Morris Mommy to Sammy Higgins, Spunky Jo, Sadee Belle and Sofee Ana

Save your money
Save your money. Despite spending $1200.00 per year for insurance, Petplan finds a way to deny submitted claims. Recently submitted multiple claims for an ailment documented by my vet as unrelated to any previous condition. Petplan decided the ailment was a pre-condition and denied the claim. Asked the supervisor Don to kindly speak with my vet for a clearer explanation…obnoxiously declined. Found plan to be obstructive and self serving.

It's a scam
Looking at the grievances from Petplan customers it seems like a lot of us have experienced the exact same thing. Although I had a very good experience with Healthy Paws in the past, in this Covid economy I had to go with the cheapest rate when I was shopping around for an insurance for my new rescue dog so I chose Petplan. Their rate came out way cheaper than all the other companies. But it was a scam. They won't honor their rate after the first year. It is false advertising to lure prospective customers into signing up with them. After a year my premium jumped from $70 to $121 out of the blue. This company does not communicate the real cost of services at sign up, their initial rate doesn’t reflect Petplan price range at all. This lack of transparency continues when the real rate is about to kick in. I received a renewal letter via email, prior to the new policy period but it did not mention a price or an increase. There was no dollar amount whatsoever. It said that the details of the policy can be found on the portal, under "my policy documents." When I went on the portal there was no tab or link to "my policy documents" so I just moved on with my day. I have had pet insurance before and I knew that premiums only increase slightly every year so I was not worried. But later on I found out that they had withdrawn almost double the amount of the usual premium from my bank account. They should have honored last year's premium with a minor increase, just like all the other pet insurance companies do. My dog is still young, I signed her up for insurance as an investment for the future, for when she will be much older, as it is very difficult to find a decent coverage for senior dogs. It was purely an investment for her old days. All the money I paid for premium last year is wasted as I can’t continue working with an insurance that doubles its rate overnight. How much would be the premium by the time my dog turns 10? $600 a month?

Is the worst insurance in the world.
Is the worst insurance in the world. It is the worst insurance for pets. My dog was born in March 2021 and when I took him to the vet and he had an ear infection and that was in August of the same year and he submitted the insurance payment, they denied me saying that there was no examination prior to that of at least 6 months. I had to have brought the puppy to the consultation before it was born. And for the second date they paid a little less than 40%. Really very bad that insurance. I do not recommend it to anyone. 55% increase in premium after one year
After much research I chose PetPlan for pet insurance on our Lab puppy last October. The plan coverage was excellent and the premium was competitive. Now, one year later I just received the renewal with a 55% increase in the premium. I called to discuss why such a drastic increase and the rep basically said that is just what it is and if I wanted a lower premium they could offer a different plan with less coverage. I am writing this review to warn anyone considering PetPlan that they use bait and switch tactics to get you signed up then bury your new plan renewal in the app so you don't notice it until your plan is automatically renewed for a year. Poor business practice, PetPlan, you can do better than that!

When I spoke with Joe today about my claims, he made everything A OK! It can be tricky using the app as I had two separate claims I was trying to process at once. It was imperative that I call to sort things out. I’m glad did! Joe was super friendly competent and time efficient! Thank you Petplan! Thank you Joe!

Joe was Great!
I was dreading making the call as I had received several notices that I was missing support and each time I uploaded something new, I would get the same notice indicating I still needed to upload documents. Joe changed all that from the moment he answered my call. He was able to walk me through the entire process, let me know exactly what I was missing, stayed on the phone with me while I uploaded the requested documents so that he could receive them real time and made sure my claim was pushed forward again. Couldn't ask for a better support person on the other side of that call. Thank you Joe!

Joe was the most helpful
Joe was the most helpful! After months of going back-and-forth with claims I finally got on the phone and got Joe. He immediately took action and helped me figure out what document was missing because the emails that were sent by claims department we’re not very clear. I sent him the missing document and he is fast tracking my claim currently and hopefully everything will be resolved sooner than later. If you have a chance to get Joe is your customer service rep than you’re in the best hands possible. Thank you joe!!
