Overview

Citibank is the banking subsidiary of Citigroup—one of the largest financial corporations in the world with over 200 million customer accounts and a presence in nearly 160 countries and jurisdictions. It offers a variety of financial products and services, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts.

The Citi Double Cash® Card is part of the company’s extensive credit card portfolio. Its 2% unlimited cashback rate is one of the highest in the market. New cardholders also get a 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months. This is longer than offered by many other cashback cards, and on par with some of the top balance transfer cards in the market.

Suitable For?

The Citi Double Cash® Card is best suited for people who don’t spend a lot in any one specific expense category and want rewards at the same rate for all their purchases, whether it’s their morning coffee or their next trip abroad. What’s more, there’s no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn.

The Citi Double Cash® Card is also a good option for those carrying high-interest credit card debt. If you transfer your debt to this card, you won’t incur any additional interest in the first 18 months, so every payment will go towards paying off your principal balance. This can help you clear your debt faster.

Interest Rate and Fees

The Citi Double Cash® Card doesn’t have an annual fee. It has a variable interest rate of 19.24%–29.24%.

You’ll pay a fee of $5 or 3%, whichever is greater, for each balance transferred during the first four months of account opening. After that, the fee rises to 5% or $5, whichever is greater.

Rewards and Cash Back

The Citi Double Cash® Card offers 2% cash back on every purchase—1% cash back when you buy something and another 1% when you pay it off.

Earn $200 cash back after you spend $1,500 on purchases in the first 6 months of account opening. This bonus offer will be fulfilled as 20,000 ThankYou® Points, which can be redeemed for $200 cash back.

The cash back is earned in the form of Citi’s ThankYou points. Every billing cycle, you’ll receive one ThankYou point per $1 spent on purchases and another point for every $1 payment on these purchases.

The ThankYou points you earn with Citi Double Cash® Card are relatively easy to redeem, plus there are multiple ways to do it.

Plus, for a limited time, earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals, and attractions booked on the Citi Travel℠ portal through 12/31/24.

You can exchange your points for traditional cash back, including a statement credit, a direct deposit, or a check. Alternatively, you can redeem them for other perks and experiences like travel, gift cards, Shop with Points at Amazon, and more. The value per point varies depending on your chosen method of redemption.

The Application Process

You can apply for the Citi Double Cash® Card:
• Online
• On the phone by calling 1-877-645-3708
• In person at the nearest Citi Branch

The fastest way to apply for the Citi Double Cash® Card is online. You’ll need to provide some personal and financial information during your application, including your full name, social security number, date of birth, phone number, email, home address, and gross annual income.

While Citibank advises allowing up to four weeks for application processing, many applicants receive a response sooner. You can keep tabs on the status of your application online or by calling (888) 201-4523.

Once approved, Citibank will mail your card, which you should receive within 3-10 business days.

Disappointed!
Well, I used to really like Citi. It was my 2nd favorite credit card. I had a high credit limit and the double cash card had great cashback perks. All the sudden one day, without any notification or reason (no change in credit score or payment history), my credit limit was cut in half....which impacted me- in complete embarrassment- when I went to use it. Not cool, Citi, not cool. I will pay it off and let it just sit in my drawer. Citi will not get additional money/support/business from me.

If I could give them a zero star i would. We had 2500 credit limit on a card that we use for my farm. With no explanation or notice they reduced this to 300 dollars which is a big problem since i primary use the card for buying diesel fuel for our semis and gas for our work vehicles. We pay off the card every month so it's not because we are missing payments. 0/10 do not recommend using crooked Citi bank.

Citi Bank Credit Card Service
Citi Bank Credit Card customer service is bad. The bot menu is a nightmare. Pretty clear they aren't actually interested in talking w/ customers. Called to get them to stop mailing me multiple applications of the card I've already got. So add environmentally illiterate to the mix. Had to get a supervisor to make that happen. She was helpful, won't deny that, but by that time I'd been jerked around too long to care.

Horrible CC Dispute Process
Citi Card was once the gold standard for fair and timely handling of purchase disputes. Today they are the worst CC company. They enable sellers who take advantage of customers. They side with the worst sellers on the internet. On two disputes, I returned the defective merchandise. The seller agreed to refund my purchase. I then cancelled the dispute. Citi's ignorant policy is, if you cancel the dispute the seller no longer needs to refund your account. This is not a CC Company that values their customers.

I think there is a problem with Citi…
I think there is a problem with Citi receiving mail currently. I have been with Citi for more than15 years and have always paid in full and on time. Never a late payment. They suspended my account today because they say they did not received my August payment. I walked inside the post office on 08/22/2023 and deposit 4 bills in the box. The other three creditors/providers received their payments and posted the checks cleared on 08/30/2023.Citi was the only one that did not receive it, so they say. In the past I would drop my bill in the mail and Citi checks would clear 3 to 4 days later, until the July payment. It took them 10 days to post it and now this month they say have not received the August payment. This is not a post office problem, this is a Citi internal problem. Some one is not doing their job. I asked where does the mail go after payment is sent and was told a P O box. Either some one is not picking the mail up or they just not opening the mail. My account was suspended until payment is received and I was hit with a late fee. Almost twenty years of paying on time and paying in full. No consideration from Citi for an excellent payment history.

Citi is a sore loser
I asked Citi to close my bank account and transfer all money out. Instead Citi blocked my online banking access, refused to let me access my account citing "security concern". I called Citi repeatedly asking for explanation; all they can tell me is that my account is under investigation and they will give me back access when it's done. I asked when will this be done? Unfortunately there's no deadline given. Citi is such a sore loser - instead of letting customer close account and leave, it has to resort to such loser tactics. For a bank survived on taxpayer-funded bailout in 2008, it has a lot of nerve. When the next financial crisis comes, you will be out of the door like Lehman.

DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY
DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY! The company closed my savings account for no reason and tried to justify that "as outlined in the Citibank Client Manual for Consumer Accounts, Citibank reserves the right to close an account at any time and for any reason, with or without cause". They then refused to return my own money in that account for over 7 months even after numerous attempts with their customer service. I was only able to get my money back after I filed a complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Absolutely the worst banking experience of my life and shameful for a bank to put any customer, who depends on them to access their money, through it. I might still be left empty handed if it was not for CFPB so everyone with issues should file a complaint here: consumerfinance.gov

Do not do business with citi card.
Do not do business with citi card. I had an experience where two different customer service agents transferred me back and forth between them, and changed their name each time. They wasted 45 minutes of time doing this. They are attempting to collect a debt for cards with zero balance on them. This company has multiple security and customer service issues. Do not use them, no matter the incentive.

Citibank acts in a xenophobic manner
Citibank acts in a xenophobic manner. I have been Citi's client for several years, and recently my account was closed without any explanation. I have done absolutely nothing inappropriate while being Citi's client. If there were a valid reason to close my account, they would have told me. But given that the reasoin is my nationality, they obviously cannot explicitly mention it to justify their decision so they went on to close my account without any explanation.

Citibank, very hard to cancel an account
Citibank is one of those companies which makes it very hard to close an account. We need to stop spending money at companies that do this. Signing up, the way more difficult process for the bank, is fully online and easy. To cancel a credit card they make you call. You speak with someone that is hard to understand. They give you the run around with other options. Then they tell you that you must go online and check your email, while on the phone, and agree to terms. Obviously, this could all be done easier in an online system. Forcing the call has one purpose, to make it difficult to cancel a card. Also not honest is their call computer system. It says you have to opt in for voice options at the same time it gets confused by background voices. Completely dishonest to pretend you are not monitoring voice.

This CC company would not know a scam if it bit them in the a**. I was charged $49.99 from a scam company Opoosum LTD. on 4/29/2023 for a keyboard, they never sent me. If you look up Opoosum, you will see there are many complaints from customers all who never received the merchandise they ordered from Opoosum. and after me disputing the charge -- CITI has allowed the merchant to be paid. So I was scammed and robbed by both Opoosum and CITI. CITI does not care one flippin' bit about their customers and their wellbeing.

Citi Card sucks—dumbest customer…
Citi Card sucks—dumbest customer service reps. I feel like these people probably 80 IQ. I suggest that Citigroup reviews my phone calls with their staff. I don't want to dive deep into here, but I was jumped and robbed last weekend in a foreign country. I want something CANCELLED, and they need to make it happen!!!!!! It's been two days; cancelation should be available the minute of the. Why can't they implement a way for their staff to do this? We're living in 2023; things should be more developed than this.

Not worth the headache
Applied for a Citi credit card for a cash back offer, but never received the card. Required multiple calls to their call centre over a week just to get through, which then required too much personal info to be shared with their customer service team just to ID me so that they could fix the problem. Ended up cancelling the card (which you could only do by calling them) and taking the L. There really isn't anything good about this business other than the occasional cash back offer. App and website is bad. Customer service is bad.

Super Kundenberatung durch sehr kompetenten Mitarbeiter
Ich hatte ein Problem mit meinem Passwort. Mal wieder vergessen 🙄. Nochmal, vielen Dank. Brigitte Müller

Horrible Customer Service Overseas Call Center Reps Barely Speak English
Just closed my Citi Double Cash credit card account. I received a new card in the mail so I activated it. Then I tried to sign up for online account access, but was unable to receive the text with my verification code due to there being no cell service where I live. There was no option for a voice verification code for my landline. So I called customer service where things immediately went south. The rep that answered said his name was “Robin Hood”. I mean C’mon you really expect me to believe that? Then said he could only send a verification code to my cell phone. I tried to explain my situation to no avail. Finally I had had enough and I said I wish to close my account and pay off my balance. He then asked for my Date of Birth. Im like “Are you F-ing crazy”. Im not giving my date of birth to a non-English speaking foreign call center rep who calls himself “Robin Hood”. After about an hour and 4 different reps (2 US Reps) I was finally able to close my account without giving my date of birth by saying to the final rep “I have been advised by my Attorney not to give my Full social security number or date of birth out over the phone.” I guess the “A” word finally scared them…

Typical arrogant big bank
Ten days ago, they promised to send me the card, but it never arrived. When I contacted them, I received three different responses, all of which sounded made up. Their customer service was terrible, and I cannot recommend them to anyone. Initially, they blamed USPS for the delay, but then they said that they were having issues with printing the cards. They never even offered to ship it expedited They couldn’t confirm the address. They just are awful. The lowest credit limit I recieved.

Dishonest and anti-trans
Citi charges late fees for payments made on time, uses abusive and transphobic language to their customers, Citi lies to the Authorities, and also Citi refuses to be honest on your credit reports. Are these illegal fees and us being cisgender really worth losing customers over? I will be closing all accounts with these bigoted liars and this includes my Home Depot card since these bigoted thieves contract with that!

I'm pretty disgusted with Citi-card at this point. They sided with an AC company here in FL called Darlington heating and cooling. This company ripped me off 2k and I have nothing to show for it. This is not a way to treat your customers who have an excellent payment history and ZERO balance after paying in FULL every month. I'm appalled by this treatment.

Signed a credit card expecting it to use for many years. They cancelled the product after 12 months. Now I have to enquire else where for a credit card which means new enquiry will lower my credit score. Those neanderthals refused to remove my enquiry. How is that fair? You can't offer the product more than 12 months I wouldn't have signed up. Going to AFCA

Those bad reviews aren't lying to you, LISTEN to their stories. Don't learn the hard way like I did. AVOID CITIBANK.
I was leaving WellsFargo to bank with citi against all of my good judgement. I researched plenty of reviews, including the ones on TrustPilot which showed a scary majority of 1 star reviews. But, my mother suggested I use citibank, so I trusted her judgement over my own. NEVER again. I opened my account within the past 1-2 weeks or so and was excited to finally deposit my first mobile deposit with citibank. I deposited my check from my job into citibank on 2/17/2023 and they cashed it immediately and held the funds from me. Key words: "THEY CASHED IT IMMEDIATLEY". Here's why that's important, they said my funds would be deposited 1 business day which is understandable, i did not expect instant funds even though they said I would received a small portion of it instantly while the rest is clearing. 4 days pass and I give them a call after receiving an email saying my check will now be delayed until 2/28/2023. The email specifically states "We have confidential information suggesting this check may not be paid", in other words, they are saying the check bounced. Back to those important key words... My employer and his bank both show evidence that Citibank cashed the check on the same day of 2/17/2023, verifying that they had the funds and the check was cleared legitly. Fast forward to 2/21/2023 they completely locked me out of my brand new citibank account and told me over the phone that I was flagged as suspicious because "They have received a volume of fake checks recently" which I think is a flat out lie in order to justify unreasonably flagging my account. So they forced me to verify all the information on the front of the check, which I did, and they even called my boss which is the owner of the company I work for, and he himself verified that he infact wrote the check to me, verified the amount it was, verified my name and info and my employment with him, all while I was on hold. They came back onto the phone and said they were able to verify everything, on a recorded line these words were said. Jump to today 2/23/2023, I called back because I was told to contact the fraud department in 24-48 hours so they could finalize resolving this issue for me to help me back into my account and give me the check that was stolen from me. They told me over the phone today that they already approved the decision to fully terminate my brand new Citibank account with them and told me I will no longer be able to bank with Citibank in the future either with the reason claiming I altered my check in some way, and claiming I am a suspicious person. Ignoring the fact that he called me suspicious, I asked for him to tell me exactly what or where on the check they think I altered it, he said he would go take a look and put me on hold for 5 minutes. He came back to the call and completely ignored my question and instead repeated the reasons my account was being terminated, saying the exact same words as if he were reading a script. I again asked what part of the check was altered, explaining that it is exactly as printed by my employer (Which again, they called him days before and he verified he wrote the check to me already). The citibank agent continued reading from the script repeating why my account is terminated along with other scripted responses. At this point, I asked a few more times and asked how this could have happened to me if I was told on recorded calls that Citibank already verified my check with my employer. But again got the scripted response stating why my account has been terminated. I could tell at this point that Citibank is nothing but thieves, as plenty of bad reviews warned me about before I decided to bank with them. Not to forget to mention, MY CHECK they cashed and withheld from my on 2/17/2023 will now be returned to my employer, which is great because my boss is just going to reissue a new check for me, but whats not great is Citibank will not refund the check to him for up to 10 Business days. It didnt take them 10 business days to steal this check from me, so im unsure why it will take that long to return it. They also will not be returning any of the money in my checking or savings accounts until a MINIMUM of 30 days to 60 days. Thats up to 2 months I have to wait to get my own money back from them that I already deposited into my account. TLDR; Don't be blind to the thousands of bad reviews and experiences posted about Citibank online. LISTEN to people trying to tell you their experiences, because I didn't listen and now I am late on car payments and other important bills because I have a few dollars to my name living paycheck to paycheck. Do not trust citibank with your money. I have family to help me while I financially struggle, but what if I didnt!? I'm not done spreading the word, and im hoping legal action is pursuable in my case. Please protect yourself, there are so many better options.

Opened up the Citibank Best buy credit…
Opened up the Citibank Best buy credit card back in November out of a $2,000 order $163 was not refunded to my credit card so hope for almost over 2 months now I've been battling with Citibank and Best buy to refund some money that should never have been taken out of my account Citibank told me they wouldn't do anything until a month went by so here we are two months later Citibank flat out lie to me and told me they contacted Best buy that I was disputing the charge after spending hours on the phone with Best buy I found out the Citibank has never contacted them in any way shape or form until 3 days ago after about the 8th or 9th person I talked to at Citibank she even confirmed it was never sent to Best buy the lack of caringness I think I've dealt with it Citibank shows they are a horrible company they don't care about their customers All they care about is regardless they're going to get that money or they're not either you're going to fix the problem or you're not they're not going to help you I have to talk to supervisor about a month ago was refused. 2 months for for money that should never have been on my bill. I've had Capital One for years those people are friendly they do what they say they're going to do not Citibank at so 2 months later I still have not got that refund after a contacting Best buy and finding out again they never contacted them so I canceled the credit card today it will hurt my credit but it will be better than dealing with the company that obviously has no sympathy for their customers or trying to help them. In my opinion it is the worst customer experience I've experienced as an adult in dealing with credit cards in or loans or anything. I'll place money that nobody from Citibank ever reaches out about any one-star reviews they get.

At Risk of Piling On
CitiCard, a new addition to the wallet, was fraught from day one. For starters, the website needs a remake, the Chat functionality has never worked, its customer service team is offshore and difficult to hear and decipher, and last but not least, navigating Citi's VM prompts is torturous. After failing to link a payment account, things got worse. We made a substantial overpayment. Citi insisted the account from which the funds were drawn did not exist in its records. Reporting the mistake, a card rep erroneously claimed the automated bank system would not accept an overpayment exceeding $100.00. The Five-Figure overpay-the difference between what was due and what was received-was to be returned to the cardholder by check and only via regular mail. The Citicard will not be used again.

I called Nov 1 and was told they still can't change it. Then after still speaking with that same rep he said he could. He said my next due date would be due Dec. I confirmed 4 times with this rep so my Nov payment isn't due. He said no, due to the date change it skips a cycle. I believed this because my Discover card did skip a payment. I asked the rep when will this info reflect on my acct and he said Nov 16. So now i am online looking at my account only to find i owe two payments (as if i have skipped a payment). I only skipped it because the rep swore that i could. I call to resolve this and the best they can do is say pay my normal 154 and they can make payment arrangements on the other 208. Uhm, I don't need yet another bill and i already pay my minimum due. Why should i have to pay payments, its not my fault. I spoke to collections, customer service who i told i didn't want payments i wanted it fixed, then another dept for payment arrangements which i said i didn't want and she sent me back to customer service. The 4th transfer he says he can't hear me but yet responds correctly to what i say. I just hugn up at this point. I will find a card to transfer my balance to. This company does not care about its customers, apologies every second after they speak over you and not willing to work with people. Id advise you to RUN...don't get this card.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience! I have a small business and 10 years ago my banker sold me a line of credit via a checkbook. I’ve never used it and decided to close it since it costs me $100/year. After many frustrating attempts to close it, I found out there was about $8,000 worth of fraudulent charges. They were willing to forgive about $3,000 but I was liable for the rest, even though a good chunk of those fraudulent charges were committed through Citibank. This has been an ongoing battle for most of this year. As a minority, female, small business owner, I never thought my own bank would screw me. I’ve had my personal and business accounts with Citibank for over 20 years. It’s been infuriating and stressful to deal with them. The only positive experience will be the utter happiness I feel when I close my account and be done with Citibank.

Worst Company in the world!!
Applied for their citi double cash card the other day and was denied! My credit score is in the high 700"s. Claimed a Bankrupt in 1999. Please keep in mind I have 4 other open citi Bank credit cards with well over $25,000 combined credit limit since the bankrupt which were opened in 2010 and have reestablished a good relationship with them ( at least I thought!) no late payments and perfect credit and a long banking relation dating back to 1998. Well all 3 of my credit bureau's are excellent with no Bankruptcies. Called to see why I was not approved guess what now they claim they want the money back from the bankruptcy that's their reason. Bunch of crooks that's illegal. Guess the last 12yrs of great transactions with this company does not count!! Don't waste your time with these people the Underwriter went back 24yrs after approving 4 other previous credit cards since 2010! There are plenty of great credit cards to choose from>>!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's up with the 1-star reviews?
I am responsible with my spending, have excellent credit, and make my payments on time with autopay, have gotten hundreds of dollars back with rewards (Double Cash VISA), and never any issues. Just a good experience. They even caught a fraudulent charge before I did! I don't know what's up with all the 1-star reviews here?! Are they losers? Dead-beats? Paid cranks? I recommend their Double Cash and Costco VISA cards. And if you're responsible like me I expect you'll have as good experience with them as you would with any bank! No complaints. :-)

Do not bank with Citi!
Do not, do not, do not open an account or credit card with Citi. The other negative reviews are accurate. Their help desk/chat support is horrible. I've had a terrible time trying to close my checking account and have also needed to dispute a charge on my credit card and it's been weeks + several chats/phone calls and still no resolution.

Be aware of Late/Interest on your CITI Credit Card
We have a CITI Costco Credit Card. We have it setup for Bill pay via Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo sent the last payment on Aug 18 with a due date of Aug 20. CITI did not post the payment until August 22, CITI is charging us $2.45 in interest and a $40 late fee! CITI will not remove these late/interest fee because this has already happen once before this year! I do not recommend using any CITI Credit Cards. We will be cancelling this CITI Credit Card!

Do yourself a favor and cut off any…
Do yourself a favor and cut off any relationship with them. The customer service is nonexistent practically. You have to wait for 15+ minutes to talk to someone and 50% of the time they are useless. When you make multiple purchases in a short time, they will block the account and again you have to call them to unlock it. 95% of the time the dispute page doesn't function by prompting a temporarily unavailable message. Their dispute team is absolutely useless and never reply to your emails even if you have everything ready and have sent multiple inquires. Their system discourages you to pay off a balance near the due date. Even if you manage to do so, there will be a delay and you still can't pay the balance off. At the end of the day they blame you to have a balance. They gave me very low credit limit initially compared to other issuers and the yearly increase is meager. I am closing every account I got with them and move on to better banking partners.

Hard to withdraw money
I setup an account to store some cash while waiting to purchase a home and then when it came time to withdraw my money it was very difficult. There were very small limits on the amount that could be transferred at a time and had to pay fees to end multiple wires to myself. If you need to closeout your account and need the funds make sure you leave at least 3 weeks to do so.

Problematic Foreign Cust. Supp.
For credit cards, 2% cash back is as good as it gets in the market. However, customer support is their weak link. It's completely foreign-based so the language barriers and poor phone connections are problematic.

Customer Care That Really Helped Me Out
Sold an iphone and the money transfer went via osko and for some reason it wasn't showing up in my commonwealth account. Waited a few days and then called up the below average commonwealth care account and they couldn't see anything and said they would raise a case and it would take up to 21 business days to get back to me. I have a Citi account and another one so I thought I would call up and ask if they could help me. Within a few minutes the customer care person said yup I can see your osko account is registered to your other account. Took Citi less than 3 mins to help me when the bigger Comm Bank care member had no idea transferred me to the online team and then the online team submitted a ticket that would take a month for them to get back to me... Great experience with Citi Bank

Terrible
Terrible. Everytime I HAD to call I got people who I couldn't understand; who had a bad headset and I couldn't hear and do not know their job or their company. Yesterday I called to close my account and was told it would be 10-15 business days PLUS mail time to receive MY MONEY. I finally just did a wire transfer, for which I was charged. I was on the phone for nearly 5 hours throughout three grueling multi hour calls. They would transfer me and I would end up in Loan Dept. They would transfer me and I ended up in Credit Card Dept. Then the wire didn't go through and they transfered me to Security where I couldn't hear them and had to call back and was told they do not have a Security Dept. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT HERE; YOU'LL HAVE A VERY HARD TIME GETTING YOUR MONEY OUT! I had the account for 1 1/2 years with over $100K deposited and their terrible processes, terrible customer service are why I am closing the account.

I love citi bank my first credit card was from citi bank , This bank is perfect to me. (Friendly) Team.
My Review about citi credit card is excellent, My first credit card ever was opened by citi bank, My opinion about citi is not extremely bad, Citi bank is an international bank So you have deal with thim with international Standards, Citi bank have different kinds of credit card and all of them is perfect, They give you a nice offer of all your cards, They increase your credit as soon as they know you paid on time, the issue of Citi bank as I have before is customer service which they speak overseas some times they doesn't know how to solve the issue but I fully understand because it's international bank, they have also horrible processing when you apply for loan, they do hard inquiries and sent you preapproval then you find rejection it's happening to most of the people I know So don't go with preapproval application, The second issue is some times they do flag alert on one of your credit but due to international security, it's better to go nearest branch to Solve your Issue The app is very good and easy,Ali NOUR

I had to have replacement cards sent. Citi said they were mailed over 2.5 weeks ago and promised 4-6 days. I called today to report cards have not arrived. They had no tracking number, only said they were mailed, and no means of expediting these cards. So, the whole slow process starts again. This is bad service.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I REQUESTED FOR A REPLACEMENT CARD AND IT HAS ALREADY BEEN 10 BUSINESS DAYS AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MY NEW CARD. EVERY TIME I CALL CITIBANK I GET THE RUNAROUND AND NOT A REAL ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM. YOU ARE HOLDING UP MY ABILITY TO ACCESS MY OWN DAMN MONEY AT THIS POINT, EVERYONE KNOWS THAT EVERYTHING IS DONE OVER THE INTERNET AND IF I WERE TO GO INTO A BANKING INSTITUTION AND REQUEST FOR A TEMPORARY CARD, THAT CARD DOES NOT HAVE A SECURITY CODE ON THERE THUS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE UTILIZED OVER THE INTERNET TO MAKE PAYMENTS FOR WHATEVER I NEED TO MAKE A PAYMENT FOR. I HAVE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS THAT HAD MY OLD DEBIT CARD CONNECTED TO IT AND BECAUSE THIS BANK HAS YET TO SEND ME MY NEW CARD I CANNOT MAKE THE PAYMENTS THAT I NEED TO MAKE AND EVERY SINGLE TIME I CALL I AM GIVEN A BS EXCUSE AS TO WHY I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MY CARD. THIS IS THE WORST BANKING INSTITUTION I HAVE EVER BANKED WITH AND I WILL BE PULLING MY FUNDS FROM BOTH MY CHECKING AND MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND WILL BE MOVING ON TO ANOTHER BANKING INSTITUTION YOU GET ZERO STARS FROM ME AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANOTHER SOUL!!!

Costco credit card
I have the Costco Citi card. 4 years and no issues and then I try and purchase a Costco travel trip with my Costco Citi card. Citi flags it as fraud, alerts me, I call them immediately and resolve the issue. Or so I thought. They didn’t remove the fraud alert, my card kept getting declined, and because the froze my account it rejected my autopay causing a payment to get late. Customer service is horrible, 12 phone calls, 6 hours on hold, and 5 different people before it got worked out. In the process my credit took a 39 point hit. All because I wanted to buy a Costco trip with my Costco credit card…

Citi group is bad and dishonest business
Citi group is asking me to pay the annual fee for renewal of Geek Squad Tech Support. However, I never had any contract with Best Buy about renewal of Tech Support, I never request this renewal tech support, I never used this Tech support. Since December of 2019 I am in Europe, even physically I cannot use this tech support that I never requested. I have no contract with BestBuy for Geek Squad Tech Support renewal. While the signature on a sales receipt proves to the bank that the payment was authorized by the cardholder, it does not prove that the cardholder was aware of and agreed to all of Best Buy terms (please see attached receipt). Sales receipt states [We will send you a reminder email before your annual renewal date and advanced notice of any price change]. However, I NEVER GET ANY REMINDER EMAIL. There are a lot of bad things going on because of violations of my rights by City. Citi group is charging me with late fees every month and completely destroyed my credit history record, and I never had any debt in all my life. Citi is acting deliberately like they don’t understand the issue, they acting like don’t understand English. I am asking about one thing, but they responding about another things. Citi group is bad and dishonest business.

Cancelled my Transfer, Refuse to wire my money
They cancelled my transfer to an external linked account, when I called they said it was an error on their part but they are unable to correct the situation. They limit transfers out to $10K per day, $15K per month. There must not be a limit on transfers in because they accepted 50K on 7/23/19 and 48K on 4/20/21 from the same external account. Why are they restricting my access to my money? They refused to close my account and wire the funds to my linked external account because I no longer have a debit card from a closed checking account. They want me to wait 15 days for them to send me a check, the other choice they gave me was to drive 4 hours to a branch. All this while transferring my call 3 times (and having to get re-verified after each transfer) and the last person I spoke with hung up on me. I made a transfer on 2/16 (10K), when I tried to make an additional transfer (5K) the next day it was denied. I have tried to make the second transfer several times and it keeps getting cancelled by their system. Phone calls to them keep getting different answers. The first person told me I had to wait until the first transfer completely cleared (it takes 7 days for them to get the money to my external account!). When I complained that isn't what the website says they said it is in the terms of service. When I asked for a copy of the terms of service they said they could not provide them, they are ONLY provided at the time you open your account. So I recapped - the website provides inaccurate information and you refer me to the terms of service for accurate information, but you are unable to provide the terms of service or point to specifically where in the terms of service the correct information is located. I called back later and a different person told me that was incorrect, I should be able to make a transfer daily until I reach the limit. They need to submit a support ticket and have the problem corrected.

Stay Away from Citi!
Do not deal with these morons! Unbelievable incompetence! I called 2/3/2022 to re-open a dispute on my credit card. Spoke to a supervisor in the US. Was told "No problem. It will be re-opened in 24 hours, and you will get an email to that effect". 24 hours later, after no notification, I called back in and spoke to another Supervisor in the U.S. He said "No problem but it takes 3-5 days. Not 24 hours" Four days later I called in again and spoke to yet another supervisor in the U.S. This time I was told you can't re-open a dispute and he apologized for receiving incorrect information from the previous two supervisors! I have never seen a bigger collection of dolts under one roof! So now I have a $1200 charge for products that never shipped, and they said there is nothing I can do about it!

I really wish I could rate citi lower…
I really wish I could rate citi lower than a one star. They’re absolutely terrible. Customer service basically doesn’t exists considering you have to go through 4 automated prompts to even get to talk to a live person. Mind you once you get to this point you’ll get someone who hardly speaks English. With this being said I am a very patient person and still lost it by the end of my two hour conversation and four times being disconnected when I asked for a manager and/or supervisor. Long story short, I ended up paying my balance in which they charged me multiple times for interest after I did a balance transfer to citi because it was 18 months “interest free” card. I still have to call back to “follow up, but the account is closed”. I don’t have two hours to spend on the phone with anyone! Nor does anybody. I recommend never using citi for anything. You’ll regret it.

Citi Unsolicited Mail / Citibank Junk Mail
Citibank sends unsolicited mail advertising that possibly exceeds even the worst companies that send email spam. The unbelieveble amount (five per week was the highest count so far) of envelopes are mailed nearly every week. The aggressive and intrusive practice not only fills your mailbox with unslicited mail; it is an unnecessary burden on the environment, the USPS, etc. If you're a CITI customer, you should also start thinking who will pay for printing, preparing and mailing all those envelopes. This practice is ongoing for years and if you were wondering, it doesn't compare to other big banks. Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, American Express will send approximately 20x (twenty times) less mail advertisement per year.

Worst Bank I’ve Ever Used
The headache with citibank was the worst banking experience i’ve ever had. First, I go to use my card and it wont work. So i try to log into my mobile app, that doesn’t work either. I give Citi a call and when wait on hold for an hour. When someone picks up I explain the situation, they transfer me to another department where I also waited an hour to get someone. They said my account was flagged for fraud and asked for my phone number. I gave them it and they said “sorry, we can’t confirm your identity with that number”. Its literally the number LISTED ON MY ACCOUNT, how can you not confirm its my number? Im literally CALLING YOU ON THAT NUMBER. And the best part…their solution was for me to wait 7-10 business days for a letter in the mail with a reference code before unlocking anything. Thats right, 7-10 full business days of not being able to use my card, not being able to access online banking, and not being able to withdraw money from ATMs. I had no access to my money over the holidays. And the non American reps on the phone hung up on me multiple times when calling. The second i got my letter I withdrew everything and closed my account. Ive never had a worse experience. Avoid at all costs.

CITIBANK CAN'T BE TRUSTED
Citibank promised me a $100 bonus payment if I deposited $10,000 in a Citibank savings account and left it there for a period of 90 days. When I called them after the 90 days had expired to inquire why Citibank had not credited me the $100 bonus their literature, soliciting my business, promised me, I was placed on hold for over an hour, waiting to speak with a representative. The representative, when they finally answered the phone, advised me that Citibank wouldn't deposit my $100 earned bonus until February 27, 2022, forcing me to leave my $10,000 for an additional 60 days in my Citibank savings account. Citibank misrepresents the facts to obtain new customers. Their customer service is terrible, they don't answer their phone and they blithely defraud their customers by making promises they have no intention of keeping. AVOID CITIBANK AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU ENJOY HAVING A HEADACHE!!

Just forget about collecting the account opening promotion. Was supposed to receive account opening bonus in April, it is now November and still waiting. I've spent over ten hours on the phone and in branches with bankers with no luck so far. I suspect that like Wells Fargo, Citi is trying to impress Wallstreet with new account numbers without revealing how many of those accounts are subsequently closed. If I was ever treated like this by Chase I'd dump them in a second.

... two, actually. Because 2% cash back, unlimited, on all purchases, with no categories to keep track of and no real hoops to jump through, is as good a deal as you will find anywhere. The only thing I would ding them on is that they haven't always taken my side in disputes with merchants. I VERY rarely have a dispute with a merchant, but when I do, it's legit, and I expect my credit card company to at lest be neutral and side with who's right.

Enfim desisto, vou cancelar a minha conta nesse banco... É uma verdadeira piada!!!!

Excellent company for good credit responsible adults.
If you pay your bills on time and are responsible with your credit this is one of the best credit card companies to work with! After having an account for 1 year with no missed payments I called to request to have my interest lowered. After a quick review of my credit their friendly staff lowered my interest nearly 5% and thanked me for being valued customer! There was also other credit options offered. I was very impressed and would recommend Citi Bank to anyone looking to lower their interest rate while increasing their credit & credit score. I'm writing this review because other credit card companies have refused to lower my interest even after years of NO missed payments!! Thank you for setting an excellent example of how customers in good standing should be treated!!

TRUE RATING- 0 The absolute worst…
TRUE RATING- 0 The absolute worst online experience of any company I have patronized. Every month, the system doesn't recognize the PW I HAD TO RESET the month before. Their system is continuously down/compromised - I am transferred to India (thinking of taking up Hindi) and no one there has any ability to move complaints up the chain- futile. Tried to have a ThankYou Points certificate sent to me yesterday- the CSR said they can't do it - can I call back in 2 weeks? Spoke briefly with IT dept today (they hung up)- the snarky CSR was defensive from the beginning- denied knowing about these issues, thoroughly discounted my experience and then hung up. I cannot wait until I can rip up the 2 cards I have- sick and tired of being abused by Citi.

This is my first ever negative review…
This is my first ever negative review in my life! But holy s... I have never had more problems with anything before, like I have with this bank/creditcard.. I am from Denmark, where banks actually understand that you are a costumer, and the reason why they make all their money.. This bank is just all around s..., the fees are insane, the interest is even worse, and they are not interested in helping you.. They are all nice on the phone, tells you that it was a mistake, and say they will credit your account back from what happened.. that never happened, call them back later to ask why ''Ohh sorry, it will be on your next statement'', also never happen.. BOOM, a little later, they hit you with a nice $99 annual fee.. What am I paying 99 dollars for here? you don't do anything els then just take, take and take.. Please listen to me, do not sign up for a creditcard here! There must be better cards/banks out there for you to sign up for.. I will promise you, if you sign up with this card or company, you will regret it.. This is not a review for just 1 time experience, this is for multiple, and they have all, been complete trash!.

Citi NYC Business Bank is Worst Bank Ever.
I'm a CFO. Our company uses Citi NYC for business banking. We carry a 6 figure average collected balance (in other words, we're a good customer). But the bank? TERRIBLE! Have been trying to get our "banker" to contact us for the past 3 weeks. No response. Called the 800 number and was told he's "very busy" and that if we need to speak with him we should go in to the branch. In other words "his time is more valuable than yours." Say what? After receiving that response, the owner of our firm emailed him asking for the name of the branch manager. A week later...he we are with, once again, no response. This suggests a culture issue at Citi; no right-thinking banker would treat clients in this manner unless he knows that, should his unprofessional behavior come to the attention of his superiors, he won't be punished for it. In other words, bankers at Citi operate with impunity. They're loaded down with clients and the bank, per its business model, couldn't care less if they lose a few here and there. That's my impression. Bottom line: there are better banks, and bankers, out there. Citi deserves to be avoided at all costs.

Worst experience I ever had in banking
Worst experience I ever had in banking. Once they get you, they hold you hostage. They closed by online account and compelled me to pay me debt only by phone or auto pay, all to get you to default and so they benefit from you. I will put my money under my pillow if this were the only bank on earth

Signed up for a best buy credit card
Signed up for a best buy credit card. Received the card and when online to set it up. Entered info and when I signed in to the account I get a blank screen. 3 calls to customer service not help, still can not access account online. I had to call them and have them put me on paper statements. Most likely after pay off I will cancel and will not use again

Absolutely no reason to use Citi UK
Horrible bank -- I caution all to stay away. All Citi branches and ATMs have been closed over the past years. Deposit rates are laughable -- 0.05% on more than £50k balance. The only way to get any service is to call. There are no international numbers, so if you happen to be abroad it will be expensive. Wrong SWIFT codes published online, causing a great delay in receiving my salary. When I was living abroad for a year, my card would routinely be blocked for normal transactions with merchants I had used before. It would be an ordeal to have it unblocked each time. Now my card details have been stolen and 56 fraudulent transactions were made within 1.5 days. Somehow this didn't get flagged in their high-tech system. It took a good hour to discuss this with the call center with no immediate resolution. Now I see that fraudulent transactions that were previously pending have been allowed to go through. There are plenty of better banks with better rates and superior customer service. I'm switching to one of them as I type.

I'm not sure a bank could be more…
I'm not sure a bank could be more incompetent.I opened one of their Visa Platinum cards with a 24 month 0% interest free offers, with the intention of consolidating my ANZ platinum and AMEX platinum cards later in the year when they were due for renewal, and upgrading the citi card to Prestige. A week after approval, I email them asking about my balance transfer. ignored. Follow up again, I'm told it will happen 3-5 days after card activation. Follow up again 7 days after card activation. I'm told they're looking into it and will fix it. Contact them again after another 7 days and it's still not done. At this point, I doubt they'll ever get it right and all confidence in their competence is gone and I'll have to go back to the drawing board as far as a single premium card is concerned.

They suggest a manager call you back within 48 hours. I'm not joking.
The 2% on Citi's credit card is nice, but customer service is pretty weak. Well, insulting. When you have a question that the automaton can't find an answer to in the script binder, they suggest a manager call you back within 48 hours. I'm not joking. You see, all of the customer service managers are in meeting each time you call. Fancy that. So very busy. They'll perhaps ring you if available on their own timeline, say, in about two days.

Lost $2,611 to credit card fraud. No help from Citi Double Cash card!
Bought a vacation package from a travel company promoted by KAYAK.com. Purchased in May 2018 for travel in March 2019. Plenty of time for the company to disappear with my credit card payment. Discovered in August 2018 that the company and my funds were gone. Immediately reported the fraud to Citi.com and after 3 weeks of waiting they ruled against me. Telling me I had to try to get the funds back myself. Citi fraud protection is a sham! Going back to American Express.

Horrible Customer Service
An exemplary example of a horrible customer service experience. Every company has a bad apple... but usually you can bypass the intellectually-challenged agent to speak to a superior who can assist in solving your problem. Not so with Citicards. The financial institution credited my Electronic payment (made in same format for at least 11 consecutive months prior) to the WRONG account. When I called to speak to customer service to straighten out the issue, I wasted 30 plus minutes of my life speaking to an ineffective and incapable agent who could not resolve my problem nor allow me to speak to his supervisor because "he was my supervisor". Instead of banging my head against the wall by continuing to speak to the agent, I gave up and will have to start from scratch again with a new call. Unfortunately, I was not able to file a complaint on this "supervisor" since I was prohibited from speaking to his "supervisor", "boss", " superior" or anything else his narrow little mind could interpret to be in a position above him in his call center.
