Overview

Capital One, founded in 1994, is the second-largest credit card issuer in the US. The Virginia-based company has more than 107 million cardholders. Capital One currently offers a selection of more than 30 credit cards.

The SavorOne card is a cashback rewards card with no annual fee. It offers unlimited 3% cashback on groceries, dining, entertainment, and streaming services, plus unlimited 1% cashback on all other purchases. New cardholders can earn a $200 welcome bonus when you spend $500 in the first three months after account opening.

Suitable For?

The SavorOne card is a versatile cashback card for anyone who spends a lot of money on dining, groceries, streaming services, or entertainment like movies and concerts. It’s not the most generous card available for cashback across these categories, but it carries no annual fee. So, the SavorOne is a great choice if you want to earn cashback but don’t want to worry about whether you’re getting your money’s worth from the card.

The SavorOne also stands out for its intro APR offer. New cardholders pay 0% APR for 15 months on new purchases and balance transfers. You can use this intro offer to take a break from paying interest on existing debt or to finance a big purchase.

The card is only available to individuals with excellent credit. You will need a credit score of 700 or higher to qualify.

Interest Rates and Fees

The Capital One SavorOne card has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and no fees for balance transfers at the card’s standard APR. Balance transfers during the first 15 months at the 0% intro APR rate carry a 3% fee. You’ll also pay a fee of $3 or 3% for cash advances, whichever is greater.

The card has an interest rate of 30.74% (variable) after the 15-month intro APR period. Your rate is based on your creditworthiness and is determined when you’re approved for the card.

For a limited time, the SavorOne card also includes a free Uber One membership and unlimited 10% cashback on Uber purchases.

New cardholders can earn a welcome bonus of $200 when they spend $500 in the first three months after opening an account. You also get 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months.

You can redeem your cashback through the Capital One Shopping and Capital One Travel portals, through Amazon.com, and through PayPal. Your cashback never expires as long as your account is open.

Other benefits of the card include an extended warranty on items you purchase with your card and travel accident insurance, which covers things like lost baggage on a flight.

The Application Process

You can apply for the SavorOne card on Capital One’s website or in person at a Capital One branch.

You have the option to pre-qualify for the SavorOne card before applying, which can be helpful if your credit score is around 700. You must provide your name, email, address, phone number, employment status, annual income, and social security number. Capital One will run a soft credit check, which won’t impact your credit score.

When you apply for the card, Capital One will automatically fill in your details from the pre-qualification step. If you skipped the pre-qualification step, you’ll need to enter your information. Capital One will conduct a hard credit check to process your application.

Capital One will make an approval decision in seconds in most cases. If you’re approved, you’ll also see the interest rate you qualified for. Capital One will send your card in the mail and you can expect to receive it in 7 to 10 days.

I have always being skeptical about leaving all my money in banks. The little charges compile to something big, the hidden fees. I'd rather just invest , not just with any platform , but with "TreasureFunding" , they are way reliable , efficient. The returns are decent and consistent.

No, No, No!
No, Just No. Don't waste your time and don't give this company your money. I had 3 cards with this company, great credit, and it didn't matter. For years.... credit increase requests kept being denied. Customer service is terrible. At one point, I got locked out of my online account, could not remember my password, and even uploaded my ID to prove who I was. Tried several ways to say "this is me" to customer service but still could not get into my account online- only through phone and paper mail. Ridiculous. I ended up closing all 3 accounts, and when Walmart switched to Capital One from Synchrony, I closed my Walmart card solely for the reason it was now managed by Capital One. Never will use Capital One again!

Credit card chaos
Applied for a credit card through Experian. After the application, I was called by Capital One three times and asked the last four digits of my Social Security number. On Thursday Nov 9 a message was left on my home phone to call 855-522-7663. About 8:30 am EST on Nov 10 I called, spoke to a person and was put on hold for about 15 minutes. The call then went to your regular fraud desk, and a nice lady explained she couldn't resolve anything because the system was experiencing routine maintenance. She asked me, nicely, to call later. About 11 a.m. I called again, spoke to Jimmy, who encountered "an error message I haven't seen before." He then put me on hold, assuring me it would take only minutes. After some 15 minutes on hold, the call was transferred yet again to your fraud desk, answered by Sharon. She couldn't find my name and sent my call to the application desk. I'm on hold again and its almost 11:30. Then Dana on the application fraud desk answered. She said you have systems issues, she'll put me on hold for 3-5. I said if its longer than 5 minutes I'm hanging up. She got back and said there's a system issue, can I call back. No, I said. She'll call me, she said. As of 4 pm that call wasn't made. After two emails to an executive, I got a phone call that said the systems issues continue and many are affected, and I'll get a call back. Hasn't happened. Took the hit for the hard pull.

Predatory Business Practice - Beware
Customer for 25+ Years (soon to be X Customer): Do not bank with this predatory firm any more. It may have been okay for a few decades but those days have ended. Beware. Capital One has implemented computer systems that design maths-gibberish to create gobbledygook “statements”. This is a well studied practice that is illegal in business. None of their agents answering their phones can add or subtract. They repeat over and over that your account is in "perfect order" while large sums of cash are missing from posted deposits and credits-- which remain "missing" for months without explanation. Their "customer service" department is in fact a customer harassment center. Stay away from this firm.

Stop sending me your junk mail.
No joke at least once or twice a week every single week for the past year or two i'll get "You've been pre approved for this offer!" or "You've been pre selected for this offer!" mail from them. Most of the time i'll just trash it but some times if I think the offer sounds good i'll apply and guess what? Literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I do it i'm either straight up rejected or will get rejected and then get a "yeah no you can't get this card but you can have this bad one instead! Doesn't that sound great?!" message wanting me to apply yet again for something else that's garbage. I get it- i'm a broke bihh with bad credit who had a bad start in life and not worthy of those sweet sweet high spending limit low or no fees with endless perks credit cards but still why even bother wasting the paper, time, money, and effort sending me all of this junk mail if you're not even going to approve me? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ain't gonna lie it kinda sucks because when I see them I get a little bit hopeful knowing that i'd have that extra financial help only for it to be crushed when i'm rejected. At least the other big companies either don't send you anything at all or only send what you can actually can be approved for, this fact alone makes me not want to deal with them once I get my finances in order because if they're that rude over just mail I can't imagine how bad they are when you're dealing with them one on one.

Been a clint for over 14 years
Been a clint for over 14 years. Did a balance transfer and called to cancel it the next day, as I got a better rate from another creditor. Capital one informed me that I would need to call back when it posts. I waited several days and called back and they refused to cancel the transfer. Closed both of my cards with them. This company is dishonest and stupid. Why loose a loyal customer over something so trivial. What does this say about this company when it comes to customer service? Abominable and unprofessional practices.

Capital One has engaged in dishonesty…
Capital One has engaged in dishonesty and immorality with its billing practices. Capital One refuses to refund a sky high billing charge after its agent promised it would be refunded and Capital one charges me almost 30% interest on that billing charge. Embedded in its terms and conditions are policies and clauses that allow Capital One the ability to FLEECE its customers. Also I informed Capital One I was on hard times and asked what programs they had to assist me and I was told by its agent that the only way I would be assisted was to become delinquent on the bill and take the credit hit. Yet I called and spoke to another agent who said they could help me and then the agent grew silent and refused to provide any info on how I could be assisted. I was also told by a Capital One agent that I agreed in the terms and conditions to forever waive my right to pay the principle down early with extra payments. The agent explained that Capital One does something called Associated Payments where nomatter how much you pay early they will never apply the excess payment to your principal. Ever. This is evil. Stay Away From Capital One if you don't want to be fleeced.

Capital One IS STUCK IN THE PAST
Capital One IS STUCK IN THE PAST I switched my bank to Capital One because they didn't charge fees. This was the biggest mistake! My previous bank had virtual cards, in case your card was lost or stolen, that you could use until your physical card was sent in the mail. Capital One does not have that for all customers yet. I had to wait OVER 10 DAYS, for my card to come. Also, they don't allow you to have multiple debt cards for your multiple checking accounts. Why would you only allow ONE card for multiple checking accounts. Obviously your customers have multiple checking accounts because they want to separate their funds...so it would make sense that I would need a card for each account. My last bank sent customers a card for each account you opened. Seriously, considering leaving Capital One already and it hasn't even been 2 weeks. I'd rather pay the monthly bank fees for the convenience than to stay banking with Capital One.

They're liars
Although they are very skilled at winning your trust, you won't ever see your money again if you give it to them. They can play around with the toy platform however they like. They only want your money when you deposit it, and when you have nothing left, they will make you lose it and then close your account. All of the credits and bonuses they offer are fake. If you already lost money to them, go to your bank. If less than six months have passed, they will look into it and freeze the money until they determine whether it was a scam and you can recover it. Send any messages, screenshots, or other evidence of the scam to them. Additionally, complain to the financial services, Fornax Forensics and they'll assist in getting your money back, as they did with mine.

It continuously tells me "We've hit a snag" to call the number. Now I'm inclined to pay the service fee! (Been going on for a week)! .. 3) I have 1 bad mark they put on my credit saying I was late, When I was NOT late, I changed payment date, called in and they said it would be taken care of, that was during the summer, here we are in November! It has caused my score to drop by 30 points, the bank said! ... 4) And Lastly, when you call in NO ONE Speaks English!!! Very Bad Language barrier, can't get them to understand anything!!

ignorant employee supervisors and atrocious customer service
I opened a Cap One checking account so I could have an ATM card while traveling overseas. I was locked out of my credit card account because I am unable to receive a text code to my overseas telephone number. I have had this problem since I moved overseas ten years ago and Capital One has done NOTHING in ten years to correct this problem. Consequently, I have not used my credit card in that time. The problem THIS time was that they would not unlock my ATM card which is attached to my checking account and so I was unable to access my own money. A supervisor told me that I could upload my ID and she would re-set my pin. This did not happen. When I called back and spoke to another supervisor, i was told that I was given erroneous information and that my pin would be mailed to me at my US address. This is utterly useless since I am not there and even if someone could open my mail and tell me the pin, this would take 7 - 10 business days. Instead, I am closing my account and I am finished with this so-called bank. Their reps are ignorant of their own policies and they do NOTHING to support customers when they are traveling abroad. Shameful service and ignorant employees.

I signed up to Trustpilot just for this review. I will give more reviews like this on other platforms. We opened an account a couple of weeks ago. We transferred a lot of money there to purchase a car. Turns out we cannot order a cashiers check, cannot do a wire transfer for I do not know how long. My debit card never arrived. I am SHOCKED this can be a bank. It costs us a ton of money because now we have to use a rental car for longer and likely will lose the car we had put on hold ($250 down the drain). Customer service is also not helpful. I will be transferring my money out of the account and close it ASAP. My trust with them is completely broken.

My experience with Capital One has been…
My experience with Capital One has been extremely disappointing, to say the least. Despite consistently making timely payments, they abruptly closed my account without any prior warning or explanation. This lack of communication is simply unacceptable and has left me feeling frustrated and betrayed. To make matters worse, when I reached out to one of the representatives with ID# WEU624, who claimed to be the highest authority within the company, she displayed an alarming lack of empathy and understanding. It's unacceptable for a company representative, especially someone claiming to be in a position of power, to dismiss the concerns of their customers without attempting to assist or find a resolution. The way this situation has been handled has not only affected my relationship with Capital One, but it has also left me with doubts about their integrity and professionalism. I trusted this company with my financial matters, only to be let down when I needed support the most. I plan on sharing my negative experience with my family, friends, and anyone who will listen to ensure they avoid dealing with Capital One. It's disheartening to witness such disregard for their customers' satisfaction and well-being. I urge all associates and potential customers to steer clear of a shocking lack of empathy and understanding. the representative with ID# WEU624 seemed completely indifferent to my situation and failed to acknowledge how their actions have impacted me. Not only was the closure of my account unfair, but the customer service I received from Mosha was far from satisfactory. She arrogantly claimed to be the highest authority within Capital One and brushed off any possibility of helping me. It is astonishing that someone in such a position of authority could be so dismissive and unhelpful. The way I have been treated by Capital One has left a lasting negative impression on me. I can't help but feel that their supposed commitment to customer satisfaction is nothing more than empty rhetoric. This experience has made me question the integrity of the company as a whole. I am incredibly disappointed in how Capital One handles its customers. With their abrupt account closures and unhelpful customer service, I strongly advise my family, friends, and associates to steer clear of this company. There are plenty of other financial institutions that prioritize their customers and understand the value of communication and loyalty. I hope that my review helps others avoid the frustration and disappointment I have experienced with Capital One. It is truly disheartening to see a company that I once trusted fail so miserably in its obligation to provide fair business relationships

They claim their venture card works seamlessly and one doesn’t need to call in to tell them where you’re traveling. However, literally the very first transaction doesn’t go through and then I am no longer at the rental car kiosk and I have to waste $20 on an international call to get it sorted out. They are absolutely stupid, and this happens every time I travel. Don’t believe them if you were thinking about signing up for this card. I’ve been to 60 countries and they cause nothing but brain damage when you’re traveling and using them.

I was hesitant applying for a card based on the reviews and I should have listened. I got approved right away and it said I had to wait 7-10 business days, sure no problem. I called in to see if I can use the card right away, it was a yes or no answer. They transferred me and after being on the phone for half an hour for “verification” questions, they’re now issuing me a new card because the info doesn’t match up. I went from waiting 7 days to a month now because they’re sending me a new card. It was a YES OR NO question as to if I can use it right away or not. Unbelievable. I’ve dealt with Canadian Tire, TD, MBNA with no issues in the past.

This review is for two Capital One…
This review is for two Capital One credit cards only. I have had both the Capital One Platinum and Capital One Quicksilver Rewards card for more than 2 years now. For each card I was able to increase my credit line on a periodic basis about once every 6 months with good use. However, if there is ANY hiccups, Capital One will be sure to it against you and will not grant an increase. I would not recommend also banking with Capital One and to keep your financial institution banking for checking and saving entirely separate as I have personally seen over the years one too many times when access to Capital One bank accounts negatively impact credit card usage because their systems were down. If their systems are down, you would lose access to all accounts (checking, savings and credit cards…imagine the nightmare). That being said, if you have the ability to physically visit a Capital One cafe and pay your credit card bill there, I would highly recommend it. In doing so, my credit card is paid instantaneously and the credit line restored the next business day. Whereas if I pay via ACH debit, it takes anywhere between 2-3 business days and if there is a holiday, up to 7-10 business days to process which is just plain old ridiculous. I am giving Capital One credit cards an F rating/0 stars because they are nosy af. They will block me from making purchases such as trying to purchase a $15 meal from GrubHub which is incredibly unbelievable. I have to call in like a child and explain to their satisfaction why I’m making the purchase. Except…I kinda don’t explain, I’m older in my years guys…way past 40 y/o and boy I gotta tell you….this practice is super illegal. What I discovered from what the agents have said is that the address where I’m having my food delivered to doesn’t match the address on file with my credit card so it was flagged for suspicious activity. Okkkk I understand that. Now what’s next is me having to explain why and whose address it is. This is the part where I get raging upset. Why? Because it’s none of their dang business!!!! I always explain to them that I literally take every precaution imaginable with my card and if there is EVER any fraudulent use, I will know and report right away. If I am traveling and have food delivered to my location…none of their business!!! If I’m at my significant others home, if I’m at work, if I’m at the salon, wherever I am and want food delivered…it’s my gosh darn right and it’s none of their business!!!! I was appalled that they were even given the delivery address location…at the end of the day…I don’t care. But what I do care about is this, it’s such a low amount of money, I have used the food provider frequently in the past AND I’m never going to provide you an explanation of who/why/where I want food delivered to. That’s no5”t part of the criteria set forth in the credit card usage agreement…I know because I check along with a consumer attorney. To have wasted my time and to have to ask permission to use my card/demand they remove the restriction is sooooo appalling. They need to improve their “algorithm”on how it detects fraud but of course they don’t….because this has happened more than once. Ergo this review wherever and whenever I have time to post it anywhere I can warn others. Doing this to customers who have always paid on time is such an egregious abuse of authority. I know for a fact that others who have Capital One credit cards who travel frequently and order food sent to their location which isn’t their home address are not bothered by this. Chief among them are the many Instagram influencers who openly talk about it. So Capital One needs to stop somehow singling out certain customers like myself for dumb ish like this. It’s incredibly biased btw. Stop blocking access to my card just because your system “thinks” in error that there is fraud going on and stop making me have to call in and ask for permission to use my cards whose limits are well over $1k each for a $15 food purchase and provide explanations which are not required. Horrible way to treat customers who have been with you 2+ years. Shame on you Capital One! You better be listening and y’all need to DO BETTER!

I do not recommend Capital One
I do not recommend Capital One. I have had Capital One for many many years. However, recently for the first time I lost my Capital One credit card so I went into the app and locked it. Then I called customer service to request a replacement card. However, I had recently changed my name legally and how to requested that my new card reflect my new legal name. They said I would need to upload some documents such as my driver's license to make that change and then a new card with my new name would be sent out to me in 5 to 7 business days. That was 4 months ago. For 4 months. I have been calling Capital One customer service and speaking mostly with people who don't understand English well or don't speak English very well and I have been begging and pleading for them to fix whatever issue they're having. Every time they tell me they cannot accept my uploaded documents but never give a reason why or sometimes they tell me the reason why is because they need the front and back. Even though I sent the front and back of my driver's license more than 30 times I have uploaded it and still they reject it every single time. Not only that they give me a different case number each time. So when I have to call back the next week nobody knows what's going on because they won't keep the same case number every time I get a new one and no one can track what I've been having to deal with for the last 4 months. So I decided to mail in certified mail to Capital One. Certified mail works like this: so you send something via mail via post office and it only gets delivered if someone at that location signs for it and guess what? Someone at Capital One signed for my mail saying that they received the letter that I sent them but guess what customer service doesn't know where that went. Even though someone at their own company, someone at Capital One, an employee of Capital One sign for it saying I received it. But yet nobody knows where it went. And also last week I faxed it. They don't know where that went either. and they are so rude on the phone and they're like ma'am ma'am ma'am we have to verify your name and order to send you a new card and to make a name change on your account and you need to do this and this and I tell them no ma'am I've done this 5000 times for the past 4 months. I'm late to work because I'm on the phone for an hour with them. Every week I work two jobs. I don't have time to call them every single day and sit on the phone for 2 hours. Besides then they transfer me to the fraud department fraud departments like we can't help you. We have nothing to do with this then they they send me to the technical support department and even the technical support department verified because they could see the documents. I have uploaded 5 million times and they said there's nothing wrong with these documents. These documents are clear, legible, good lighting they're like. We don't know why these customer service people are not verifying these documents or not. Acknowledging that you've uploaded the correct documents and just fix the issues for you. They said we don't understand what their problem is so no one will help me. I've been transferred to supervisors to every department. Nobody wants to fix the issue. Nobody at Capital One wants to take accountability for their screw-ups instead. They're blaming me and saying that it's my fault even though technical support verify the documents because they could see the documents I uploaded. Technical support department verified that I'm doing everything correctly. I've uploaded all the correct documents and it's not my issue. It's Capital one's issue and even the fraud department said we don't have an issue. There's no fraudulent activity flagged on your account so all of this falls on the customer support people and the people who are supposed to verify the documents and they should lose their jobs. And furthermore they refuse to give me any access to anyone higher or anyone at corporate or anyone with half of a brain cell or can do their job correctly. As soon as I pay off my credit card I'm closing my account with Capital One and I will warn every single person that I talk to you not to bank with these people because their customer service is crazy. I spent so much time and money over the past 4 months trying to send them all my documents and they are just rejecting them for no reason and they refuse to take accountability for the fact that it's their fault while this is not being fixed

Where do I start
Where do I start? Well the most recent is the payment not reaching your department. then getting a double bill with a late charge. My online account has been screwed up for years now so I have to mail in my payments. I like to pay early so I was paying directly to their P.O. box. I make sure to pay early and never miss payments. Now I get double charges late fee charges. Making my experience with Capitol One Not good. customer support is a joke to. Get someone that can speak understandable English.

You have to call...for...everything
You have to call...for...everything. I think the experience I am about to tell you epitomizes the essence of this companies failure in terms of customer support (and this is only one of many issues). I have their premier travel card. They guarantee they will price match. The catch... You must call them everytime. Well, if you're traveling how the hell can you even call them? I'm lucky I have a global sim, but the connection from China is awful and I couldn't get through. Time is ticking to get my "guaranteed price match" - what hassle for a perk. If you try to find any way to write an email, chat or even send a letter there is nothing available. This company is at the lowest of low for customer support. You must call for everything ! Here's a bonus complaint: the price match is fundamentally flawed. I booked a hotel and then called to price match. They said they couldn't price match because they need to verify in the moment that there is a better price. I told them I booked the last remaining room (after confirming it directly with the hotel). They said that's too bad and I would have to cancel that reservation. However, catch 22, they won't price match until after you book the reservation. Don't get me started on how they make you pay extra for refundable bookings (whereas almost every other website offers it as part of the booking).

Idiotic
Idiotic. Every time I travel overseas I call them and tell them I am traveling overseas and the dates and countries I will be in and do not cause any issues with my card. I am always told that my card won’t have any issues and I don’t need to call in. Then literally the next day the very first day of travel my charge for my rental car doesn’t go through. Just moronic. Because of all the brain damage they cause it’s almost better for me to accept the 3% international transaction free from American Express so I don’t have to deal with Capital One’s brain damage when I travel.

Credit card protection is not protection
SCAM, this app is a total scam. I tried to do the FREE 3-day trial, but it billed me immediately for a lifetime membership. That was not what I signed up for. I tried to cancel and was told I could not since it was a lifetime membership. I tried to get my credit card co to reverse the charge. Capital One told me they could not tell where I tried to cancel and therefore could not refund the charge. My only last question would be Is Capital One getting a kickback from them for all such obvious fraud?

I was in a car accident on 10/8 which resulted in a total loss. My insurance company spoke with capital one on the 10/13 to discuss the amount owed for the rest of the payments. A check of 7,128.99 was sent on the 10/16 processed on 10/23 which brought my account to zero balance. On 11/ 2 Captial one reversed payment from the insurance company in the amount of 7,128.99. I spoke with 3 different people telling me 3 different situations. One claim that my 10/20 was returned which was not true spoke with my bank and they have no documentation of that being payment being returned, they suggest I keep making my car payments to keep my account current. The other guy stated as long as the payment did not go back to my insurance company, I have no worries. My account was at zero sir and now my account is more that 7,128,99. They hung up on me several times. I have contacted a lawyer to see if this is even legal for them to do.

Never use this company
Never use this company. 30% APR, this company is set-up to trap you into never ending debt and then r*** you at your weakest. $40 late fees if you miss a payment with no exceptions. Customer service will not work with you at all, they will belittle you at times of financial hardship and expect to be treated like a dog because you had the misfortune of borrowing money during a time of need. I brought in a legal team to absolve me of this debt as soon as I possibly could. I had the misfortune of interacting with a supervisor, Alex, employee ID # FVU934 in Florida who showed no mercy when attempting a simple request of a reimbursement of a late fee since I was drowning in debt at the time and really struggling. These big credit companies are relentless and designed to profit off your hardships. The ruthless culture is top down, and I've experienced that first hand. Seek counsel from other companies to help you settle debt with Capital One as soon as possible if you find yourself in a situation similar to mine as this company will not work with you under any circumstance. Lesson learned for me, never again. You've been warned.

Awful customer service
Awful customer service. You will NOT be able to get anyone on the phone. Multiple times I have called and waited on hold for 20-30 minutes, and then the line disconnect. They will bounce you from person to person claiming the next person will take care of your issue (but they don't). Okay card if you never have issues, if you do. Prepare to enter the hell that is their customer "service" call lines.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY
I read the part that said I would not be charged for a hard hit on my credit scores. That was whether or not you were approved. So I applied for a credit card. I was given a 97% chance that I was going to be accepted. Well guess what! They denied me the card. Now I can handle that but within 15 minutes I was charged a hard hit on my credit score. I immediately called Capital and I was told that I had to fill out a dispute form with Experian. I told them it just happened and they said it didn’t matter even after I read the part to them where it said your credit score wouldn’t be hit with a hard pull. So I immediately called Experian and was told I had to fill out a dispute form. I told them the same thing I told Capital and they said it didn’t matter if it happened 5 minutes ago or 5 days. This is bull. So now I am stuck with a hard hit from Capital on my credit score. BEWARE OF THEM. I have called them numerous times about this and customer service is rude. I just gave up and the hard pull is still there. I tried numerous times to write a review and this is the first place that I was actually able to have it posted. As of now on this site it won’t let me post the date that this actually happened. The date that is there is not correct.

Bad treatment for long time great customers
I filed for bankruptcy in mid 2018. I was advised by a business associate that Capital One helps rebuild your credit. They do however, then they tear it down. THE GOOD STUFF: My credit score did go up past 710 with this credit card. After many years of poor credit, I was elated to be in such good standing. I had excellent payment history with not only this card, but other revolving loans. My credit limit was increased by Cap1 three times up to $4000. That in itself validates my relationship that I HAD with this institution. I paid off two vacations. I loved this card. THE BAD STUFF: By late 2022 I had been an excellent customer for 4 years. Unfortunately, I had to take unpaid medical leave for a few months. Being the excellent customer I was, I requested an extension. I was enrolled in the financial hardship program in December of 2022. I asked the representative that approved the extension, "Will this affect my credit score?" I was told, "No It wouldn't be reported to the credit bureaus because it was a financial hardship program." Fast forward to January 2023, I get a notice in the mail that another credit card, ALSO with excellent payment history had been closed due to recent credit score changes. Upon review of my Experian report, low and behold Cap1 reported late payments, damaging my credit score. Adding insult to injury, causing OTHER creditors to see me as a financial risk. Ultimately, my total available credit decreased, and my usage percentage increased. Key factor in credit scoring. Of course, I called, and they had no idea why I was told it wouldn't affect my credit. They would do nothing for me. I was instructed to call the credit bureaus and file disputes however, there was no guarantee the late payments would be removed as they were, technically late. I requested, given the excellent relationship, if they could they at least lower the APR from 29%. They refused that as well. Excellent way to treat an excellent customer in bad health and a financial crisis. The remainder of the extension finished, and I call again to see what was available as I was now back to work however, the payments now due were double. THEN they offered to lower my APR to 9.9 for 8 months with payments of $80 a month. It took financial crisis and becoming severely behind for them to be concerned. What prompted me to call again was, after looking at recent payments the interest charge INCREASED the following month although the balance DECREASED upon payment. The rep couldn't even understand what I was saying about APR calculations. She just continued to throw numbers at me in an attempt to confuse me. Even after I explained to her I worked for Bank of America and Chase card services in the past, I know how this works. This is the biggest problem with outsourcing financial customer service with scripted replies and communication barriers. Mistakes will be inevitable. I will have this card paid off, will close, and will never use them again. And if anyone asks, I will advise not a good idea for long term. Just use it to bump your credit score and then cut it up. It seems the longer you are a customer, the more interest they get from you and the better payment history you have, the worse they will treat you.

Great if you make over 50K a year and have no debt and a 750 credit score. Not so great if unforeseen life events take place, you need more time to make payments, you run any balance whatsoever because god forbid and they never raise your credit limit. My favorite part of capital one seems to be they have a whole company full of employees who are waiting for you to miss a payment so they can report ya.. oh you caught up that payment of $130.00? Where are you now capital one? WHY HAVE YOU NOT REPORTED THAT I PAID YOU?!?!? I’m going to stop there before I start Cussing.

I recently experienced some frustration…
I recently experienced some frustration with CapitalOne Bank after depositing a $2,000 check from a reliable state entity. Despite the check's credibility, there was an unexpected delay in the funds being available in my account. The deposit was made at 1:00 pm on a Tuesday, but I was informed that the funds wouldn't be accessible until the following Monday – a full six days later. This delay was attributed to my account's new status at CapitalOne, even though the check had already been cleared according to the branch manager at Wells Fargo, where the check originated. As a new customer, this experience has been quite disheartening, especially when compared to my previous banking experiences with Chase, which were significantly more positive. Despite my efforts in speaking with managers, escalating the issue, and filing a complaint, the situation remains unresolved. This experience has left me questioning my decision to switch to CapitalOne and hesitant to recommend their services.

C.O. CREDIT CARD DEPT. SUCKS TO DEAL WITH
I just paid off a $28,000 auto loan from Capitol One. Got a Capitol One Mastercard and they only gave me a $300 limit. Had an emergency and used the $300 limit immediately. But, paid back $210 the following week...waaayyyy b4 the 1st payment is do. But, they restricted my card, until it clears the bank ( $210 payment ) that was taken out of my bank 4 days ago. As if the interest rates aren't bad enough on these things. But, overall it's the " NO TRUST " in me that makes my blood boil!!!

I've been super satisfied with Capital One. I have a CD with them and a savings account and they both pay excellent interest. Much more than my previous bank. I have the Capital One Venture X card and it has so many great benefits such as the airport lounge, travel credits, and I really scored a great deal on their recent travel sale. I hope they offer it again. My only complaint is that I wish they had a local branch. All business I do with them is only online and I wish I can go in and speak with someone.

Fraud alert. Are they really a "bank"?
I received the following email shortly after midnight from Capital 1 "security" department after I deposited a cashiers check from another bank (from my account) into MY capital one account. "Dear xxx , After an in-depth review of the check deposit(s) you made on 10/18/2023 into your account ending in xxxx, we believe there is an increased risk that the deposit may return based on confidential information that indicates the check may not be paid. To protect you from this potential risk, we've decided to delay the availability of $xxxxxx until 10/25/2023." Sooo, money (cashiers check) from another bank account in my name going into MY capital one account gets put on hold for a week based on "confidential information" that I may not pay myself the funds I just deposited. Should a bank that spews such idiocy hold anyones money at all???? Shame on capitol one!

Completely dishonest credit card company. They put a fraud alert on my card when there was no fraud perpetrated, all purchase were mine. They refused to remove the fraud alert until I provided a photo ID which I didn't have to provide when I opened the account. I am not giving any company more information to loose when they are hacked only to receive a lame apology stating we lost all your information to hackers. Now they are keeping my $20.20 which I have in credit due to a refund to the account from United Airlines. Seems Capitol One is stealing my money if they will not refund my money. Been with this dreadful company less than 7 days... 1. They have my name spelt wrong. They could, according to their agent, change my name by 3 letters. So I gave them the 3 letters to correct it, they refused! 2. despite several attempts to active the card online, they wouldn't until I called in. Why offer a Service if you can't provide a service 3. I tried to do 2 balance transfers but you have to active the card and reapply... so what is the point of the original request... They seem to love to be unsupportive and purposeless...

Capital One is the worst
Capital One is the worst! Over two months ago my replacement credit card never arrived, so when they sent an email to verify its arrival I responded that it hadn’t. The next I heard from them was an early morning phone call; to my wife, not me the actual account owner, who then told them to call me. Well, they then told me that over $2000 was charged to my account and asked me to prove who I was to rectify the issue. They asked for a government issued id with a picture, social security card and proof of residence. I was sent a link to send the documents to which I immediately did. Next morning another call saying they couldn’t read some of the docs so I sent them all again. Now two months later another early morning call to my wife from Capital One who once again asked why call her and not me. Another call ten minutes later to me this time telling me that fraudulent charges were made on my card and I needed to verify who I was again to prove that I hadn’t made those purchases. They would not even tell me where, when, or the extent of the charges made tellingly me they couldn’t tell me. I explained to the representative, who I could barely understand cause her accent was so thick ( calling me from Columbia South America, I live in the USA by the way ) that all this had been done already two months ago with all the requested documentation already sent to them. However, I was told that I needed to send them again. No reason why or explanation was given and that “they” couldn’t answer any of My questions without the documentation. Once again I sent them all the requested documents to their “secure” fraud investigation site. Today my wife got called again instead of me and told them to call me. When they eventually called me ( again someone I could barely understand) I was told that I needed to resend some of the documents because they couldn’t read them ( perhaps if they had representatives from the USA they might be understandable and could read documents in English! ). I have to add at this point that I have high end equipment and all of the documentation I have sent are 100% perfectly clear and easy enough for my three year old grandson to read. Of course the exact same documentation they said they could not read this time had been received by them two months ago and verified by me ( I called Capital One’s fraud division) that they had gotten them and were all acceptable. So here I am, two months later exactly where I started off. Lost card, no replacement, and fraudulent charges to my account. To say that Capital One is INCOMPETENT is an understatement! If I could afford it, I’d take out a full page newspaper add in The NY Times to let the world know how bad Capital One is. PS: I had some fraudulent activity on my Amex card years ago and it was immediately resolved with one 15 minute phone call and a replacement card was mailed and received within three days of the phone call. This Capital One account was only opened as a completely independent account to write checks and to receive government issued payments.

Horrible bank!!
Never, and I mean NEVER open an account with this bank. I have been with them for over 20 years and today they refused me access to a cash withdrawal. Yes I had the money. No my account isn't locked. And no, I wasn't rude in any way until the very end. I drove over an hour to make a cash purchase for my business that exceeded my daily ATM limit. The details are in my BBB complaint, but briefly, the teller and her manager at a particular branch just decided my current mississippi real ID drivers license wasn't a valid form of ID. This after being made to verify every bit of peraonal information (full name, address, last 4 of SSN, phone number) AND putting my debit card into the reader and entering my PIN, and showing a state issued firearms permit and a federal TWIC card. I was rudely dismissed with no access to my money. Drove 20 minutes out of my way to another branch and left with my cash in 5 minutes. Did this occur because I was a middle-aged white male in a New Orleans branch with all black employees? Well, flip that scenario and tell me the reign of terror that would be being brought down on that bank!! It was pretty obvious to me what was going on by the way I was treated. Needless to say, I am the time consuming process of closing my accounts and switching to a local credit union.

Capital One is shady!!
I WAS a Capital One cardholder for a few years. After realizing that all of my monthly payments were going towards interest I immediately closed the account and paid off the remaining balance of $2976 to bring the balance to $0 on a closed account effectively ending the customer/ business relationship between Capital One & myself. Well, after checking my credit report seems Capital One still wants to charge me interest claiming it's "residual" interest. Best believe I will not be doing any type of business with Capital One again!!!!

The worst experience from the Manila team and management. My treatment as a customer has been horrible over 2 weeks. I am travelling and they up graded my card but refused to courier the new card to my hotel but cut off my blue card leaving stranded and it’s been emotional and financially devastating. Started on September 17 continuing

They exist to make your life miserable.
They exist to make your life miserable. All of your management in charge of training and quality control need to be fired and your entire company should attend moral and ethics courses.

I was on hold for 22 minutes. No one answers.
No chat, no email, no secure message service, and no one answers the phone. The Capital One Direct representative on twitter was condescending and useless. Here is our conversation on Twitter... I was on hold for 22 minutes when I called the number they gave me. Is someone in charge who I can call directly who will answer the phone? What is their phone number? Tue 6:58 PM We know waiting isn't ideal, but we don't have a direct number that will bypass other customers waiting in queue for assistance also. ^TD Tue 7:00 PM "bypass other customers waiting in queue for assistance" The 'ol guilt trip. As if I'm being unreasonable for expecting customer service to answer the phone within 22 minutes. They said wait times were 10 minutes, and I waited 22 minutes. I'm not being unreasonable or selfish at all. Tue 7:11 PM

This bank used to be good, and then...
This bank used to be good... and then, something bad happened. Recently, I was led through a merry-go-round of codes and texts and phones and uploading driver licenses three times, just to be told that nothing could be done about it. All I was trying to do is add my husband, who also has an account with them, as the co-owner of our checking account! Idiotic programming or policies won't allow you to set up a joint account to start with, and then they couldn't recognize his phone, because both our cell phones were under my name. They would not allow it to be handled by mail, nor in person in their "café". How do you stop your customers from doing business with you, go learn from Capital One. Today I was trying to add my church as the beneficiary of my account. I did it a year or so ago with another account with Capital One, but then I switched to a higher interest paying savings account. Turns out that their current programmers or policy-makers (I am not sure which) decided that you could only name an individual, not an organization, as a beneficiary. So unless you can input a birthdate, the program won't allow you to proceed. Seriously?! I even wrote an email - a very polite one - to their corporate office. Nobody ever responded! The nudge was ignored as well. What is it with these people? Have they ever tested their programs with real people? Maybe they feel they already have too many customers? Well, with this sort of arbitrary policies, the problem might be solved soon.

Compelling evidence to prove Capital One a disgrace
I've had a credit card with Capital One for several years. £200 credit limit to improve credit score. Always paid 4 weekly on time. I was scammed by someone who obtained my details. 21 attempts were made on my Santander bank account of which 7 were successful before my bank pulled the plug. Each one was for £10 MS gift cards. I had one £10 card purchased via Capital One. My bank refunded the fraudulent deductions and made swift changes to prevent further ID theft. Capital One had a different Outlook...They used the words "Compelling evidence" to charge me with the cost of the crime. What was their "Compelling Evidence"? They contacted MS and were told that my card details were used to make the purchase.? Now, how the hell does any crook get items using anything other than your details. If that is how their logic works then every victim of ID theft will always be denied justice. The second "compelling" evidence was that I had bought several items from MS windows in the past. What? Off course I did . It has a large range of products and it is near impossible to go elsewhere for IT products. So by stating the blinding obvious I scammed myself? Not so with my bank. They recognised the fraud and were fully supportive. So I put a block on my Cap1 card and paid extra to allow me to boot this useless company in to touch in 3 weeks time, when I can next pay them off fully

It seems they are outdated now☹️☹️ I tried to open a savings account with capital and everything was going smoothly until they tampered with my funds. I tried to get in touch with the customer service but they were unhelpful. I took a hard decision on myself to use my money for something that would benefit me and give me great returns instead of just saving alone. So, I made a decision and joined "Vou wallet" which is an investment service, and that has really helped my financial struggles. I have made a lot of profits from them and still have my Capital funds intact.

"Updated Bill Payment"
After their "update" of their bill payment system my bill payments that had to be sent by check stopped arriving. They were absolutely unbothered with my concern, and had very little concern for assisting me.

Very Bad Customer Service
I have been a customer for 6 years with a excellent credit score and no bad credit history, I have been asking for an upgrade for my card from last 1 year and they wont give it to me. I called 4 times in a year and they claim they can only give me what is on promotion but they cannot upgrade me to a different card. Bad banking experience and don't care about their loyal customers.

Warning
This is a warning to anyone who has a Capital One credit card and AOL who is getting paperless billing. AOL puts Capital One bills in the SPAM folder. They notify Capital One that their email is blocked. Capital One continues with this blocked billing. You WILL NOT receive your bill but your will receive your past due notice. They will continue to charge late fees and interest even though they are aware that you cannot get the bill. After speaking to them, they maintain there is nothing they can do about all these fees and interest charges. The customer service is non existent. Very disappointing

The worst customer service I have ever…
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Horrible communication. I was cut off and talked over frequently. When I stated that they kept cutting me off I was put on hold without notice and then when they came back didn’t even acknowledge what they did. My call was disconnected twice, no call back. Very very rude and so demeaning. I will be spreading the word on how they run things.
