Overview

Bank of America offers a robust selection of versatile general-spending credit cards, great for any consumer who doesn’t want to tie up their rewards with a single vendor or airline. The cards’ flexible rewards system allows cardholders to redeem and apply their travel rewards or cash back however they wish, whether as a statement credit against a future billing cycle or as cash directly deposited into a checking account.

The company’s credit cards are also well reviewed. Each of the five cards boasts at least a 4.3-star rating, while the bank itself holds the #1 rating in J.D. Power’s customer satisfaction surveys for both the banking advice and online and mobile app categories.

Suitable for?

Bank of America’s credit cards are suitable for a diverse range of consumers, from those without a credit history looking to get their first credit card or those seeking a simple flat-rate rewards structure—to consumers at the high end of the market who want to upgrade to a premium card with a longer list of benefits.

The bank’s credit card offerings are especially appealing to Bank of America clients who have an existing banking relationship with the financial institution. Customers who qualify for the company’s Preferred Rewards program can get a 25%-75% rewards bonus on certain cards, depending on their rewards tier.

For example, customers not enrolled in the Preferred Rewards program would earn unlimited 1.5% back on all purchases with the Bank of America Unlimited Rewards® card. Meanwhile, Gold-tier members (who receive a 25% reward bonus) would earn unlimited 1.875% back, while Platinum-tier members (50% reward bonus) could earn unlimited 2.25% back. Platinum Honors members (75% reward bonus), those with more than $100,000 with the bank, can earn unlimited 2.625% back—making the Bank of America Unlimited Rewards® (and the Premium Rewards®) cards the highest-earning unlimited flat-rate cash back credit cards on the market today.

Additionally, those who hold checking or savings accounts with the bank can link their credit card accounts to take advantage of advanced AutoPay features, eliminating the risk of late or missed payments. However, customers must manually pay their credit card balance for at least two months before they are eligible to enroll in AutoPay.

Interest Rates and Fees

Nearly all Bank of America cards have interest rates in the mid-teens to the low twenties, and most cards, other than the bank’s travel-oriented cards, charge foreign transaction fees. However, none of Bank of America’s cards carry an annual fee other than the Premium Rewards® card, which comes at a $95 yearly cost.

Rewards & Cash Back

Every Bank of America card offers a welcome bonus, and each except for the BankAmericard® offers rewards, either in the form of points or cashback.

The Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards™ and Unlimited Rewards® cards each offer a $200 cash bonus if cardholders spent at least $1,000 in the first 90 days, while the Bank of America Travel Rewards® card offers 25,000 points on $1,000 spent within the first 90 days. Meanwhile, the Bank of America Premium Rewards® card offers a larger bonus—50,000 points on $3,000 spent in the first 90 days. Finally, the BankAmericard® offers a $100 bonus when account holders spend at least $1,000 within the first 90 days.

The Application Process

Customers can apply for a Bank of America credit card online. Applicants will need to provide their name, address, phone number, and email address. They will also need to answer questions regarding their citizenship, marital status, employment status, income, and expenses.

Approval decisions are usually made immediately after form submission, but may take 7–10 business days.

Help & Support

Customers can contact customer support via phone or live chat. Wait times for both are short, usually under 15 minutes. For general questions, customers can call (800) 432-1000. For credit card inquiries, dial (800) 732-9194. Email support is offered to existing clients only, and is not available to the general public.

Online chat and phone call hours:

Mon-Fri: 8am-9pm ET

Sat: 8am-8pm ET

Sun: 8am-5pm ET

Security

Bank of America’s website is secured with the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, safeguarding shared data from access by third parties. Additionally, clients have the option to enroll in 2-factor authentication for greater security. The bank also protects its cardholders with the $0 Liability Guarantee, meaning you won’t be responsible for losses due to fraud.

FAQ

How quickly will my application be processed?

An approval or denial decision can be made in as little as 60 seconds, though certain applicants may have to wait 7-10 business days for a decision.

When will my card arrive?

Your card should arrive within 10 business days of approval.

What’s a balance transfer?

You perform a balance transfer when you transfer the outstanding loan balance on one credit card to another. Balance transfers incur a fee of 3% of the transferred amount and usually take 2-4 days to complete.

Conclusion

With an attractive selection of points-based and cashback rewards cards for both category-specific transactions and general spending, Bank of America has a credit card for all kinds of cardholders. Whether you’re a Preferred Rewards client looking to optimize for rewards or a student looking for your first-ever card, you can find a Bank of America credit card that works for your wallet.

I've been using bank of America since…
I've been using bank of America since 2006. Any time something odd occurs they have been quick to investigate it and fix it. Customer service has always been helpful, and thankfully actually people who speak english and not some jack off in india. The one thing I have noticed about the negative reviews is that they are usually an indication of the persons own stupidity when it comes to this bank, as the service reps have always been helpful - even when across the country or over seas. Hell, their fraud department is amazing in itself, quickly investigating and resolving unusual charges as well as giving you your money back while they are doing their investigation. I've never had an issue getting a loan or anything with them, and I only have a 730 ish 740ish credit score, yeah, even unsecured personal loans have never been an issue. I've had an amazing experience with this bank for nearly two decades and wouldn't use anyone else unless they seriously messed something up.

30 year customer- cancelled account with out explanation
30 year customer. Credit cards, checking, savings, pay my bills, 800+ credit score…and closed my account with out notice. I woke up to a balance of zero and a customer service rep telling me that they have closed it and are not providing an explanation. I can’t believe this. It feels like a Third World country move. I will never do business with Bank of America again I will go to local credit union and corporate banking can kiss my ass.

Fee for receiving wires, no online customer support
BoA charged me $15 for *receiving* a wire! What the heck. Never in my life have I been charged for RECEIVING a wire! Their website also doesn't have any online messaging help/support. It's like we're back in the 80's. The phone support is idiotic - it makes you enter your SSN 4 times, and only after that does it tell you "Our offices are closed, call again during business hours"/. The only reason I opened this stupid account was to get a stamped statement for a stupid visa application. I went to a branch, asked for the statement, they said "No, we can only MAIL it to your address". I was f'in THERE in front of the teller, what the ef is the point in MAILING the statement? UPDATE: I used the in-app messaging system to ask for the wire fee to be reimbursed. The representative made a one-time exception without much fuss. Still, the practice is ridiculous.

Terrible use experience
Terrible customer user experience, every time I have contacted BOA Card Support - the platform, bugs in accessing account details, customer service (when you get through), to sum up, awful customer journey, do not use or you will go mad and chuck your computer out the window. Combined with "Satellite Delay"! Go get another Card that is easier to use like American Express

In July of 2022 the Federal Government…
In July of 2022 the Federal Government fined this company $200 million dollars due to a faulty computer system that was responsible for locking customers out of their accounts without any warning or recourse for fixing the problem. As of January 2023 that problem or similar issues continue today. Their telephone customer service representatives are uncooperative and unwilling to resolve accounts issues that have been flagged for fraudulent activity based on a faulty computer system. I called the bank numerous times and visited the bank branch twice. The branch manager confirmed that I was the account holder based on proper documentation. However they were unable to override the faulty computer system. I researched this bank online and they are rated the most hated bank in America. They are rated 2 stars on the JD Power 2022 US Banking Satisfaction. I do not recommend this bank under any circumstances. I am a long term customer.

Bank of America needs to be updated
Bank of America needs to be updated. I saw "Payment Due" on my credit card account on the B of A website on January 22nd, 2023. I made a payment, like I always do for all my credit cards, on the day they were due. I checked today (January 26th, 2023) and saw that the red "Payment Due" was still there. I called customer service of B of A. The agent told me that "I made the payment Too Early." I said, "Why did I see Payment Due in RED" if the date was too early? She couldn't explain and gave me a BS answer. Then she said they would refund my payment, but it would take up to six weeks for me to receive it, and if I waited to receive it to pay the credit card, it would be late, and I would be charged a late fee of $36.00. I was being Punished for making the payment on the day it was due. Again, I saw the Red "Payment Due" on their dumb website, but "IT Was Too Early." Any small Federal Credit Union and banks in third-world countries are ten times more up-to-date than Bank of America. I will take all of my accounts out of Bank of America.

If I could give them a ZERO I would.
If I could give them a ZERO I would. Check washed for more than $5000 on a check written for property taxes. The lack of assistance to resolve this problem is unbelievable, a total run around. RUN don't walk to a Regional Bank where people can make decisions and treat you like a valued customer NOT a suspect. BTW we filed a police reports and USPS report with the Investigative Dpt. I have been a Customer (BOA Master Card) for more than 20 years. They called my workplace and left a cryptic message stating how difficult it was to track me down, allow me to repeat myself .... I have been a Customer (BOA Master Card) for more than 20 years. They cashed a plainly washed check made out to "PETO SANTANA" it was also endorsed and cashed with the same first name only "PETO" also in BLOCK LETTERS and BOA cashed it... So much for fiduciary responsibility. The high level of automation makes this fraud possible, and it is the consumer who loses. RUN away from BOA now before you lose any money and lots of time!

I was just in the Laurel springs…Bad customer service
I was just in the Laurel springs Gloucester Twp bank 1-23-2023 n I’ve been cashing my check every week for 13 months. I went to Collingswood a few times. I misplaced my drivers license n went on line n paid for a duplicate. I had to print out what the state of New Jersey gave me and sign it and it’s good until I get mine in the mail. They told me to show my last PICTURE ID DL ALONG WITH THIS SIGNED PAPER DOCUMENT N Kim would of loved to have done it but the witch next to her (supervisor) was to glad to do it until she heard that I don’t have an account with them. This same woman tried getting me to open an account in the past. She wouldn’t let me cash my check. My husband has a big check coming to him and I wanted to open up a savings account because I love Kim so much. You can forget about that now I will never open up an account at Bank of America now. I think that the supervisor would be very wise n smart n take some people training off the people in Collingswood who’s never giving me a hard time because they know me and it’s obvious that it’s my picture on the expired license and was fine with the paperwork the state of New Jersey, gave me until my license comes in the mail. You see how one person can ruin it for everyone. U would think coming back from maternity leave having a brand new baby that she would be happy and she’s anything but. I guess she wants to spread her misery. Well, you lost a customer because of her. I absolutely love and adore the kind people at the Collingswood branch that supervisor would benefit greatly shadowing these great people with top-notch customer service. Looks like I’ll be going out of my way from now on and just go right to Collingswood where the customer service is great with very little wait time if any.

BOA shouldn't be in business!
How is this joke of a bank even still in business? WORST BANK EVER! $55k wire transfer initiated from a domestic BOA account to another domestic BOA account....72 hours has passed now and zero funds. Local branch has ZERO idea why. After exhausting several hours, we're told they froze the transfer and funds won't be available for a week or possibly longer. ZERO reason or explanation for a "freeze". On other occasions, they held CERTIFIED CHECKS from a Chase account for upwards of 16 days! Banks have all gone to garbage over the last decade, BOA being a complete dumpster fire. Stick with credit unions. They actually care about their members instead of dump on you like banks.

I accidentally transferred $1800.00…
I accidentally transferred $1800.00 into my credit card account which had a $0.00 balance. I went on line to transfer it back to the intended account and was told it would be 8 to 10 days before they would issue a refund check. I called their customer service to request it be electronically transferred back to the original account and got a snarky, condescending service rep that said he could help. And then he told me it would still be 8 to 10 days before they could even do that. After 37 years as a customer, this is what they call "here to help". As of this time, I am seriously considering closing my several accounts and go with a Bank that actually offer real customer service and cares for the need of its account holder.

Cant contact from outside the USA. Stealing monthly fees and cant do anything about it.
Simply, the bank does not care one wit about its overseas customers. This is evidenced by the impossibility of actually getting someone on the phone, despite it being a billion dollar business. Apparently, they want our money, but not anything else from us. They also will break their own rules (written rules) and charge monthly fees despite holding a combined balance thats supposed to waive the fee. This is robbery. Plain and simple. Steal our money, then prevent us from contacting anyone to report it. Sounds like a great company. I will tell the story about this bank to every contact I have and make overseas for the rest of my life. That should cause them to lose much more in lost profits than I will lose in monthly fees. It will be part of my story as I tell everyone about living abroad and how Bank of America takes advantage of the fact that it actively prevents its own customers from contacting them to fix any problems.

I deposited the last $60 I had into my Bank of America account through their ATM. The cash reader did not read the cash. I was not concerned as this is common with BofA ATM’s. However, I received $10 back, but not the other $50 bill. BofA was not open to speak with a representative by phone. After filing a Better Business Bureau review, BofA did not respond. BofA stole $50 and refuses to resolve the issue. I’m on camera, throughout the entire attempted transaction.

Find another bank!
Bank of America made an error of transferring all the money out of my account to an external bank, without my authorization and are making me wait for 10 days to fix THEIR error. Rude and unprofessional on the phone, no apology was offered, "the resolution" of "recovering" MY funds for their wrongdoing is unacceptable but they simply do not care. They talk over you, provide no customer service and blame anyone except their own incompetency. I've been with them as a customer for over 20 years (only God knows why) but I will be closing my account as soon as this issue is resolved. Would never recommend Bank of America to any of my friends and/or family!

I have been traveling abroad and have reached a point where my regular atm PIN code exceeds the average PIN code length in Italy apparently. I have not been able to get any cash out for DAYS. My card was locked for 24 hours due to “incorrect PIN code” -not helpful while in another country. I also have attempted seven different ways to Sunday to reach any form of customer support about this and it’s been fruitless. The app is trash. The call center is trash. The chat is trash. It takes 80 steps to reach a human which I have only done once and I couldn’t hear him at all. I am in another country with no access to cash, which I have emphasized as being unsafe and am just told to call their 800 number again. GARBAGE

Banking while black
After 17 years of banking with Bank of America I was profiled by people with either lack of training or down right biased in how some are treated due to skin color . I’ve banked with the same debit card title for17 years this time after my account had been compromised by thieves I go to this bank at first only to withdrawal 30 dollars of what I’d been left. After being asks to get my birth certificate from home I go back to bank and after waiting 25 min I was told without management I can’t be helped and suggested I go to another branch. Now exhausted I go to another branch. Retrieved like all I had left took them all of 10 Mins to do what other branch (La Canada & Contenitial ) Green Valley AZ refuse to do,, beware !!

Poor online banking processes
Although a full service bank with all the products you need, BOA lacks convenience and modern tools. To set up autopay for your BOA credit card using a BOA checking account, you must first "Ask permission" to Bill Pay, wait 3 days, then you must wait for the next statement to arrive and request Autopay. Your PDF statements are 8 pages long even when you do not have any transactions, it is full of color advertising and disclaimers. Small font and very hard to read. They still charge for transfers ACH to other banks, although Zelle is free. Its online website is extremely saturated with explanations and disclaimers. Frankly, most major banks have simplified their processes, not Bank of America.

I'm a disabled veteran who applied for…
I'm a disabled veteran who applied for a Bank of America credit card and was approved. The first card after I got approved was a dummy card. I called and asked them to send me the actual card. I waited, received nothing. I called again and again I received nothing. I called again and this time the said that they would FedEx the card to me. I was so excited because I would get it in time to go Christmas shopping. FedEx came and delivered the card. I was super excited. I called to activate the card and that is when I was told that the card wasn't valid. Wait.. What?? So Bank of America FedEx me a invalid card. I found out that it wasn't valid on the 21st of December. They told me that they would send another card and it would only take another 1 to 3 days. I have Multiple Sclerosis and the holidays can bring stress. I just wanted to let Bank of America thank you so very much for all the extra stress that you gave me right before Christmas. Seriously think twice before trying to get a credit card with Bank of America. This has been the worst experience when it comes to customer care. I am just so thankful that I realized how screwed up Bank of America is before I spent one dollar of their money. Yes, I have excellent credit and I will go elsewhere. I just hope that they don't screw anyone else over.

Also, if I need to get cash I can either drive to half an hour or use another bank's atm and get charged fees. And the Bank of America in Sherwood, OR closes at 4 pm, so they don't even keep bank hours. The bank needs more options.

Wish we have 0 star
Wish we have 0 star. I was using BOA credit card since 1993 and today(12/22) I canceled the card. Microsoft wrongly charge me $105.99 and I dispute that in October 22 and today BOA came to me & stated that they don't find enough evidence to claim my charge is valid. So I paid $105.99 via Wells Fargo bill pay and canceled my BOA card. The service was really bad, the person over the phone is horrible. It is just BAD service. I should have done that years ago, only regret.

I shopped with this bank's credit card… Bank of America has not paid the refund amount to my closed credit card for five months
I shopped with this bank's credit card which ends 0314 before I went on vacation. Many expensive items came while I was on vacation and I returned them because they would no longer work for me. Because some fraudsters took money from my card, I had it closed while I was on vacation. The refund amounting to over 2000 dollars came to my credit card, which was closed, and it appeared as a negative balance. Then they said they made the refund of $201 from edreams twice and reduced the amount to $1817.55. I told them that when they collect all the returns it will be 2018.55 dollars but they did not accept it. To save my remaining money, I asked the bank to transfer 1817.55 dollars to my bank account.but they said that refund my money as a check. I talk to customer service for hours but I still have no money. The check did not come. They reset the negative balance on my credit card, but I did not receive a Check. The bank, which took 35 dollars more than me because I paid my credit card debt one day late, has not given me my money, which is about 2000 dollars for five months. I will apply to the court with the screenshots of the refunds in my minus account and their paper printouts. Do not work with this fraudulent bank.

What poor customer service! Sat on hold for 20+ minutes only for their out of date phone system to hang up on me. Called back, sat online shorter as I chose an option that wasn't really what I needed but I DID get someone. She was so pathetic giving me the website to report the fraudulent email that as she was giving me the letters she said: "A" for Elephant! Maybe I was calling a call center in China? Going to get away from this pathetic company as soon as I can. Been a customer 23 yrs and this is what I get!

worst experience …
The customer service is completely awful. If you have any questions or need to make changes to your credit card you will be waiting multiple hours if half a day just to get in contact with someone, and of course they redirect you to another line which is an automated system so you still don’t get your issues resolved.. worst experience I’ve ever had. I closed my account and cards took my a long time to get it done but never doing business with these guys it’s ridiculous.

BOA has worse automated phone system I…
BOA has worse automated phone system I have ever encountered. I had a problem with my credit card and tried for at least one hour to speak to a live customer service agent. The automated system kept telling I had to give a reason for the call to get to the right department. When I stated the reason it would say I had to select from list but none were the correct choice .Then I would be sent back to the main menu over and over before I was sent to a live associate. After I was told that I would be transferred I had to wait another 45 minutes on hold.I don’t like automated systems but this one takes the top prize for for the very worst of them. I have never been so frustrated before..Heaven help you if it’s detrimental to speak to a live person to solve a issue.

Very Slow and Poor Customer Service
Everytime I called Bank of America or Merill Lynch (part of Bank of America) I had to wait an hour on the phone, when the service representative finally answered the phone, they cannot answer my questions, and I asked them simple basic questions about their company's process that they should know. For example, I've a stock brokerage account with Merrill Lynch (partm of Bank of America), I called to ask them, when I sell a stock, how many days will it take for that money to clear, so I may use that money to purchase stock? Nobody knows the answer to the question after I waited an hour on the phone.

BANK OF AMERICA HOLDS BUSINESS HOSTAGE
My name is Steven Morgan CEO of Talk of the Town Group LLC. We have been doing business with you for the last several years. Recently due to our company name change we were instructed to open new accounts. We opened the new accounts and have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE! Recently a client of ours gave us a $10,000 check from his company. Please realize we deposit over $200,000 payments a month. Bank of America put a 10 day hold on the check. 3 days later without notifying us BANK OF AMERICA put a FREEZE on this account. After calling 12 times and getting all kinds of stories we find out the same check with the 10 days hold on it has caused this freeze. To help out we called the Owner of the check, and the bank it was written on. All verified the check was cashed on November 23rd. No one the bank or the owner has received a call or email from Bank of America about this check. I have attempted to give their information to the Bank Agents to help them with their process. It has now been 4 days for the freeze and 10 days for the check. All they tell me is the same thing they told me 4 days ago they are working on it. In the mean time they have bounced over 10 checks causing problems with our vendors and clients. We HAVE LOST OVER $100,000 in revenue as a result of the freeze. It is PAYROLL TODAY and 30 employees are waiting for their paychecks. BANK OF AMERICA says WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. We will be closing all our accounts. I will spend the last 20 years of my life telling everybody my story of how banks have gotten so large they JUST DON’T CARE. You have $21,000 of my money and YOU WILL NOT RELEASE IT! You ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW! You are HOLDING HOSTAGE MY COMPANY! I can only hope this email will start a process that makes BANK OF AMERICA PAY!! This is the first of many letters I will be writing. You have definitely screwed the wrong person. O’, I’m sorry for your inconvenience!

BOA has lost it! Their reputation/goodwill earned in the past is GONE.
I've been a Bank of America (BOA) account holder for 33+ years so I know how good they CAN BE, but over the past 5 years I've witnessed a marked decline in their customer service, IT processes and overall ability to deliver a quality product. As a retired Air Force veteran my tolerance for incompetence can't help but erupt after my 7th transfer/disconnect today (1DEC 22). The left hand (banking) doesn't know what the right hand (credit cards) is doing, and good luck fixing online login issues if you have both products. To avoid the systemic problems at BOA, consider Chase and Wells Fargo as alternatives for full-service banking nationwide.

BOA Lacks Sophisticated Security Measures To Protect Consumers Identity’s
BOA Staff are permitted to work from home and access confidential consumer information such as, #ss, addresses, phone numbers and phone carriers, spending habits etc. resulting in an alarming number of consumer identity theft complaints. Identity Theft is so prevalent at BOA that customers will spend an excess of 2 hours holding on the 1-800 fraud hotline before connecting with an associate. When you’re on hold on the 1-800 fraud hotline there is a recording discouraging clients from making a complaint and further investigating unusual charges, This is a red flag. A sign thst this bank is unable to manage its case load and that there isn’t proper security in place to protect consumers identities, BOA is negligent in properly satisfy subpoena requests. BOA should have its internal processes and procedures investigated and audited. BOA fails to have the proper security in place to protect its customers. They have failed their employees and their customers.

Their customer service and Online tools
Their customer service, app and online system are awful. I tried activating my new credit card today and ran into four separate problems, called customer service three times and didn't receive anything helpful. The first rep deleted my account without asking me first, so I had to make a new one with my credit card again. And the second rep sent me a link that was supposed to help me set up a personal external account to my card and all it did was send me to the bank of America log in page with no help after logging back in. I finally figure out their bill pay system and put all my account information in from my external account just to find that the website is having an error and won't let me. It's been well over an hour by now, I was so frustrated that I cried. I gave up and called customer service to cancel my credit card and then ran it through the shredder. It's not worth it.

LIEN RELEASE SENT TO WRONG COUNTY
Paid off my mortgage. Bank of America in it's grand wisdom decided it would be a grand idea to send the lien release to the wrong county. I called them up and asked them to send it to the correct county. So they sent a copy of the one they sent to the wrong county to my county. The problem is the copy has the wrong county's book number, page number and instrument number on it. My county has no record of my property with the incorrect book/page and instrument number. Several phone calls about the issue has yielded the wrong result. If they don't get it right next week I will be getting an attorney to force them to do the job right.

I remember when I was in my 20’s I had BofA and I told myself Never again. Well I didn’t listen to myself. They did the same thing to me that they did back then. Makes me wonder what’s going on. I just spoke to a person on the phone that said they are a different system then their app and they are not responsible for the app’s mistake. The app would not let me make payments. A late fee acquired because I didn’t have the time to make a phone call. I called and made the payment and late fee. They said I shouldn’t have a problem again. Same thing happened. It wouldn’t let me make a payment but I was able to set up a monthly scheduled payment on the app with verification that is was set up. Three months now of no monthly payment made to BofA. They did this same thing to me 20 years ago but with an overdraft protection fee. After I payed in full but they kept charging me the late fee. I was never informed and they basically told me that they weren’t responsible for their mistake. Go anywhere else but BofA. They are thieves.

BoA hands out credit cards to criminals, forces real customer to jump through hoops to close fraudulent account!
Absolutely the worst bank on the face of the planet next to WF! So BoA gives a criminal a credit card in my name. I get an email of congrats you've been approved for the BoA Travel Mastercard blah blah. Call them and after waiting for 40 minutes on hold they apparently "can't verify my identity" by my phone number because I changed carriers a few months ago, so they tell me I have to go to a BoA branch with TWO FORMS OF ID to prove my identity in order to report the fraud and cancel the card. RREALLLLY??!! If you had applied this same standard to the thief who opened a card in my name, I wouldn't be wasting my time forced to deal with the worst bank on earth who I never wanted to do business with again after closing my old card with them years ago!

Reporting Fraud you get useless service
I called to report a fraud transaction on my business credit card. I was transferred 4 times to 4 different persons and each wait time was average 20 mins. I had to explain everything 4 times that I was waiting for my replacement card after the previous fraud claim and yet another fraud charge appeared on the same card account. Each of them pulled up the account details after I provided the last 4 digits of my ssn except the 5th belligerent imbecile in the fraud department. He refused to use info to pull up my account but wanted my account number which I had to look up on the bank statement and he was rude and wouldn't wait 2 mins and insisted I call back even though I had been put on hold for so long during that call that lasted over 1 hour with no outcome. I didn't get his full name but I am sure his middle name is f$%$# T##t. I am moving all my business out of Bank of America for the crappy service I get.

Fading customer service and closing locations left and right.
I have been with this bank for over 25 years and i am going to have to agree with everyone that has expressed negative reviews. I can’t believe this bank has not folded or sold out. I wont go as far as say criminals but i will say incompetent and uncaring. They make policy changes on a daily basis with MY MONEY. You got that Bank of America, MY MONEY but truly this bank will never change and if you want peace you have to leave this bank even if you have been with them for so long. What a shame and hopefully this bank will change names soon. Here is the reason why i am saying this. I made two deposits with company checks. Both checks when put in the ATM machine didn’t calculate right so i went into the bank to see what was going on and instantly was given a Fraud claim card, the go to card that all the tellers give you because they are too lazy to look up the information. So, after that BS i called the bank and they stated, “We put a hold on your deposits because the funds were not there. My company who gave me the checks said BS this is not true. Then i receive a letter in the mail from Bank of America that their ATM machine messed up and i said, NO way, like I didn’t already tell you that but still stated we are holding your deposits for two weeks. Please stay away from this bank, there are plenty of choices out there so think about it before you get involved.

Got scammed for $13,500.00. Your money is no protected, there system is weak. Do Not sign up with them. I'm getting all my money out ASAP. Crazy they said we are a big company that cannot refund our customers.........

Rude and condescending
I wrote a good faith letter to the CEO recently requesting a one time deletion of derogatory remarks from my credit report in an attempt to clean up my credit. I received a call a few days later from what was explained the Consumer Resolutions department stating they had received the letter and would review my request and provide an update in 5-7 business days. Fast forward I received a call and was advised that due to FTC guidelines they wouldn’t be removing the remarks. Ok fine I’m over it. I received a rude and condescending letter in the mail date 10/20/22 advising of this same information I was told over the phone and in the letter I was advised to consider this matter closed and resolved, as well as they would continue to keep reporting the late payments. The account was paid in full the day I sent the CEO an email, I wasn’t asking for a handout I just wanted the remarks removed this one time as I had previously never had late payments. My family and I will be closing all of our accounts soon and won’t do business with BOA ever again.

blocked because I could not remember my BOFA shopping plaza name from 2003
I joined in 2003 when I was 18 in college. Over the years the customer service over the phone has really gone downhill. I called about an account question and the Bank of America "representative" in the Phillippines asked me to verify my account based on the name of the shopping plaza (!!) where I opened the account in 2003 (who would remember it???? It has been knocked down for many years) to which I said I cant recall it - his response was to block my number from calling back the main number! I could not believe it. The banks automated telephone system recognizes your number and can auto disconnect if they don't want to talk to you. Don't they have other ways to verify me, my social, voice recognition, prior addresses? But the NAME of the shopping PLAZA from 2003 where a BOFA was tore down? I went in person to close my accounts and the teller did not even ask/ question why I was withdrawing thousands of dollars to close all my accounts. I also had to speak to someone over the phone the same day to confirm the accounts were being closed-- that person did briefly ask why, but did not ask further if there was any way to remedy the poor customer care. They know their service is garbage. There are no good national banks -I have tried many. I recommend you join a local bank in your town you have a personal relationship with so they can be accountable if you run into issues, fees, etc. 2003-2022 good luck with the continued poor customer service.

Bank of America SUCKS
Bank of America sucks. Three days ago I opened an account using 10 business checks written to me. I fully understand and expected that the bank would decide to place a hold on these check. They did, for 10 days. But, the "fraud department" went further than that and placed a blanket hold on the entire account. Why? Because I opened the account with so many checks. OMG, Bank of America does not like people with money? Go ahead and hold the check but don't block my account. Did the fraud department call my banker to discuss this? No. Did the fraud department call the new client? No. This was done on the first day, November 1st 2022. On Nov 3, 2022 I went into the bank and deposited cash. Yes CASH. This cash showed as available on the website. The next day, today, I tried to Zelle some of this cash to a friend who needed $500. It turns out that the cash I deposited is also being held now. WTH? I can't access my cash? If the hold was on the account why was the cash even accepted at the bank? I tried to call customer service. "I will transfer you to the fraud department". "Are they open tonight?" (it is 7pm Friday night). "Yes they are available 24 hours a day, transferring now". Recording- "You have reached a department that is closed until Monday, regular operating hours" I called CS again and told the rep about this recording. "Sorry Sir I will transfer you to the correct fraud department that IS open". Same recording. OMG! Seriously? I finally, after another 30 minutes, found my own way into an unrelated fraud department that explained the blanket hold due to the many checks. My reply? You blocked my account and THEN accepted my cash deposit knowing I would not be able to access it for weeks. Do you know any people that need to pay bills immediately or suffer grave and costly consequences? I know that you do, so tell me if this bank is good or bad by doing this to their customers. SHAME! Should I keep my account open? No! As soon as the money clears, this account is closed and I will never give business to this terrible company ever again in my entire life. I will find a small personal bank. It is too bad because my personal banker is adorable and very sweet and I looked forward to getting to know her. Trustpilot has a rating of 1.4 out of 5 with 88% lowest star possible. Are you ready for more? Motley Fool Article - Here's Why People Hate Bank of America. By John Maxfield – Updated Oct 19, 2018 at 4:31PM It's fair to say that Bank of America (BAC 2.51%) is the pariah of the banking world. It found itself at the bottom of the heap in a J.D. Power survey of mortgage customers; it was the worst-performing bank on last year's American Customer Satisfaction Index; and the industry publication American Banker recently announced that it has the lousiest reputation among both customers and noncustomers of any large lender in the country. But I was nevertheless surprised at the outpouring of vitriol that our readers heaped on the nation's second-largest bank by assets in a series of articles that I've written of late. In one detailing allegations of abuse under the 2009 Home Affordable Modification Program, or HAMP, readers lambasted the bank for a multitude of slights. "If [Bank of America] were a person it would be in prison," one reader noted. "I hate that my mortgage was sold to these scumbags," says another. And a third expressed the opinion that "[Bank of America] should be shut down for fraud and cheat." The same quality of responses was appended to a follow-up piece discussing Bank of America's performance on the aforementioned American Banker survey. "If I want to ruin my day, all I have to do is call up Bank of America," one commenter noted. "Bank of America engages in the biggest legal thievery in the USA," noted another. And "[Bank of America] takes perverse pleasure in hurting its customers," said a third. Finally, though not surprisingly, the vast majority of readers who chimed in continued to unload on the bank in the most recent piece. "I would not use [Bank of America] if they were the only bank in the world." "[Bank of America] sucks and must be held accountable for their deceit and unrealistic demands from hard working homeowners!" And last but not least, "I hope that every robber who robs [Bank of America] is successful." So, what's the point? Is the point that both I and the vast majority of our commenting readers take perverse pleasure in kicking Bank of America while it's down? Do the comments I quoted above reflect nothing more than the collective opinion of a vocal minority? Are the readers that took the time to share their experiences just a bunch of freeloaders who are unjustly blaming the bank for their own, preventable travails, such as buying a house at the peak of the market, taking on a second or third lien, or agreeing to inappropriately structured mortgage
