Capital One hates people--but loves capital
I was totally scammed by a seed company. They did not communicate with me immediately after I placed the order. I was sent only part of an order. I had pictures and communication I sent to the company---OVM Seeds. I had a good payment history with Capital One--I paid my balance in full every month. I did not have the "information" I needed for the dispute because it was information the vendor NEVER SENT TO ME. I had one customer service agent cry on the phone and apologize for the way I was treated; I had another customer service agent tell me that cases like mine "break his heart." I closed my Capital One card---I now have higher credit limits and much better rewards from a new AMEX Card and a United Airlines Travel Rewards card (Chase Bank). DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CAPITAL ONE---they hate people and love capital!

I recently applied for a capital one…
I recently applied for a capital one savor one card and they gave me a 1,000 limit . I have been with capital one for more than 3 years being that I have a quicksilver credit card and only have a 1,500 dollar limit on that one . My payment history is excellent and I barely ever leave a balance on my statement . My question is what sense does it make to give me a 1,000 credit limit on my savor one card if I already have a 1,500 dollar limit on my quicksilver .

No support for client in a disputed payment
Capital One are one of the easiest companies to get a credit card approved with which is a bonus for those without a credit history or with a poorer credit history. However, if you ever have a disputed payment, they will not support you. I have just witnessed this very clearly. They initially applied a provisional credit, as is standard with large credit card companies, while they conducted an investigation. However, they followed up by asking for letters and documents to support my case yet none seem to be read, or perhaps they have an AI bot doing the reading, because the responses were generic, did not make sense, and all lead back to some excuse for not being able to support me the client. The provisional credit was removed. I was unlawfully wronged by a shady car rental agency, and I had exhausted trying to get a refund from them directly. Capital One gave very poor excuses as to why they could not support me in my dispute. This is unlike any of the other major credit card providers I have dealt with. Be warned, they only want your dollars and will not support you the client at all.

Deceitful Practices
I recently received a credit card and I was always on time with payments and I never carried over a balance for interest charges. I received an email that said I was PRE-APPROVED for a new card that offers cash back benefit. I filled out the application which required my yearly income. I put the same amount that I had reported on the first application that had gotten me my card. I was rejected because of my amount of income. Then to make things worse, my credit score went down because of this second application. I feel like I was tricked by using the words PRE-APPROVED. I think that maybe people are better off not having a credit card and should try to create a budget and concentrate on building up a savings account rather than relying on credit. With these deceitful practices, maybe this is why Capital One is always trying to drum up business with so many TV commercials and internet ads. Stay away from Capital One.

They will charge you even you never use it
It is with great disappointment that I write this negative review of Capital One. As a long-time customer, I have always appreciated their commitment to consumer advocacy and fair business practices. However, my recent experience with the company has left me deeply disillusioned. In September of 2022, I traveled to Greece and used my Capital One credit card to pay for a meal at a local restaurant. To my shock and dismay, in March of 2023, I discovered a charge on my statement for $650 and $16 from a hotel that I had never visited nor used any services from. Despite my attempts to dispute the fraudulent charge, Capital One refused to accept my claim and instead directed me to contact the hotel directly. As a consumer, I expect my credit card company to provide protection against fraudulent charges and to investigate any suspicious activity on my account. However, it seems that Capital One has abandoned its commitment to consumer protection, leaving its customers vulnerable to fraudulent charges and without any recourse for recovery. The fact that a charge from September 2022 only showed up on my statement in March 2023 raises serious questions about the effectiveness of Capital One's fraud detection system. How can a charge go undetected for such a long period of time, and why is it now my responsibility to pay for something I never authorized or used? In conclusion, I must say that Capital One is no longer on the consumer side anymore. They have failed to live up to their promise of protecting their customers from fraudulent activity and have left me with no choice but to seek an alternative credit card provider.

Decent customer service
Decent customer service. No international fees. However, they were supposed to send me a new card. Their auto system sent me an email that it shipped but after a month it never came so I called and had to get a new replacement card and it was pain changing my auto pays for a ton of stuff to the new card #. Then both cards came the same day, so I know the first card never got mailed out originally and they tried to blame the post office even though I never have had issues getting any other mail. Just admit fault and I will never give a bad review.

The old bait and switch
The old bait and switch. Was notified that I was pre-approved for the Capitol One Walmart Mastercard. Filled out application and was notified that I was approved. But when I was sent the emails it said the Walmart rewards card. NOT THE SAME. Spent 45 minutes on the phone dealing with a very strong language barrier to get it canceled. Every time I asked a question she had to put me on hold for several minutes. Sadly I will not do business with Capitol One after this. May try Discover next.

Shocking and disappointing treatment
Had Capital One 8-10 years. Most years monthly 0 balance. Due to emergencies Dec-Jan-Feb built balance $9,000. Never missed payment. Payed entire amount 3/13/2023. My records showed payments received by Capital One and paid by my bank. My credit available however remained low. After 1 1/2 hrs on phone a "fraud investigator" advised me since this was a large amount regulations allowed them to NOT not restore the limit for about 2 weeks. The fact for years I made timely payments made no difference. I am now in the process of looking for another cc company. Personal Opinion: They really don't care about the little man because they are too big to fail.

Not honor CD deal, system issue, rude customer service
They are not as good as old time. The deal was a lie and they might just want to steal your information. I tried to open CD account online at 7:30pm on 3/14/2023 before 12am ET but it seems not complete because it needs me to call 1800 number showing on the screen and phone closed at 5pm ET. I called next day. The customer service manager can't honor the deal to me because yesterday was the last day and my system didn't show any record of opening account. The phone hour was closed at 5pm. But I entered identity and funding account information already. I challenged her why did I receive an email that I have updated my profile at 7:30pm? I had closed their account back in 2020. She switched to accused me didn't fund the account but I can't even open account, plus I have 10 calendar days to fund it. Then she put me on hold whenever she has no points to support herself. Why do you still able to update a closed account from an opening account link? I tested to reset my password and it did. I doubt about their system security. I'm glad this rude manager didn't offer solution for me to open the CD. BBB I reported it. For credit card victims, please use Chxxx freedom with clear reward app and friends referral bonus or Citx cash card with easy dispute, payment has no issue. I have 8 credit card experience.

No visibility of real balance
I often make payments to lower my credit card usage, and capital one STOPPED showing my current statement balance. Now, it only shows the minimum payment and the total balance, which forces customers to cover the entire balance to avoid paying interest (since you don’t know what the current balance is), effectively fronting payments so that capital one can juice up its interest income. This is operating in bad faith and creates an absolutely awful customer experience. I won’t use it ever again

Only caters to the Upper class and Business
Not very helpful for anyone middle class or below. Had them for about 8 years. 2 credit cards. 2 Checkings. Not one year did I receive a credit line increase after keeping my balances low and always paid on time. Will send pre-approved letters but it’s just to get money for your application that will get denied after being pre-approved

After being their customer for over 30…
After being their customer for over 30 years I asked to be credited 12 dollars fee that they charged me for Venmo (which they never said there was going to be a charge using Venmo) and they refused. I could not believe their lack of customer service. I have been their customers for over 30 years and they don’t value me. So I closed my credit card account and took all my money out of this horrible bank. Shannon in the senior department was not helpful at all. She kept asking me the same questions over and over again and it took her 40 minutes to close a simple account. The staff is not helpful nor nice.

Got the run around
I tried to open a CD and after days of going back and forth and website saying one thing and them doing another found out in the end time ran out for me to open CD and never was able to take advantage of offer. I am glad I didn't seemed very sketchy can only do on line transactions and wouldn't allow my bank to transfer funds into the CD. I think I averted a real problem.

Capitol One is ripe with fraud.
Capitol One will allow significant fraud to take place on your account and will force you to pay for it, or you'll receive a hit to your credit rating. My account was used for fraudulent charges over 5 times in 3 years. They were small charges, but after HOURS of conversations with Capital One, the fraudulent charges remained on my account. Promises of new cards with new CC numbers being shipped were never kept, and the fraud continued. I paid off my account, including the fraudulent charges, just so I could close my account for good. AVOID THIS LENDER AT ALL COSTS.

Untrustworthy and Financially Unsecure
Judging by other reviews on here... There's no point even posting mine I think. Just like everyone else my experience has been poorly. Lack of support, fraudulent and suspicious charges. I will wait until my balance is fully cleared and leave them. It's just a bad experience from beginning to end. Stay away from them, I'd suggest.

If I could give your crappy company negative to infinity I would... everything up to two days ago was great but now my card was restricted and now I'm dealing with the fraud department...seems people who speak foreign languages have never heard of people who, maybe this is only a United States thing, who pay rent but also have no utility bills because it's included in the rent...these freaking igits have a picture of my driver's license with the new address (I just moved) and my updated SS card ( i got married) and a picture of my lease which has my name address and rental company..they rejected my lease and wasted two days to neglect to tell me that a bank statement will do in place of a utility bill...they could of told me that two days ago...now i try the link they send to my encrypted email and its broken and they are like well try opening it in a different browser, I have chrome and nothing else...so now I have to fax it in...not sure why i can't send an email with my attached documents to a secure server and then boom you got everything...not sure why you make customers jump through hoops because you are incompetent and too reliant on a computer and the fact your email says proof of residency and my lease wasn't good enough...as soon as I pay this card off it's gonna be closed and shredded...no more incompetent, no english speaking, no living in the real world igits working for capital one...

Worst Experience Ever
I have never had such a horrible customer service experience. I call complaining about what seems like a scam and that you are taking money from people not making them aware they are accruing daily interest until they make 2 consecutive full payments. Which to me sounds like an absolute scam and is not okay. And your customer service rep has the nastiest attitude with me and gives me absolutely zero help. I end up canceling because your rep was so rude. Then after I cancel my card you continue charging me my auto-payment of $60 when my balance is $0. So my card is at -$60 but there is no account to be had. So I call once again and I can only be issued a check, you can’t somehow replace the money back into the bank account you stole from. But it doesn't end, then the check is mailed to the incorrect address after your customer service rep updated my address in your system to the correct mailing address. What can I say worst credit card company ever.

I’ll never go back
To start, I have never written a negative review in my life. I just got off the phone with “customer service” about 10 minutes ago. I spoke with a representative named Mara in the fraud analysis department and she was horrible and sarcastic. To start, capital one closed my 4 year old account with them because my checking account (set up on autopay) had been frozen for fraud on my debit card. I called and explained to capital one that the payment was going to be returned because I’m figuring out this issue with my checking account. I had never missed a payment for 4 years and they closed my credit card account without telling me. When I called and asked why they would do that, a woman kept reading the same script to me over and over again. “You’ve committed a major breach of our terms and conditions, you should have told us about this payment.” Infuriated, I couldn’t do anything but pay off my remaining balance on the card. So I figured I would do just that and be done with them. I paid off about $430 on my card on the due date (but my minimum payment was only $25). I paid this amount off and I check the app the next day to see they charged me a $39 late fee because they pulled the payment from my account an hour after it was due. EVEN THOUGH I SCHEDULED it for the due date! Their system pulled it through an hour late and they told me there’s nothing they can do to help remove that $39 late fee. Horrible bank.

Capital One is the worst!
I scheduled a payment a half hour before 8pm EST time but could not log on to the website. So I called customer service. They were very little help. They put me through to tech support, which had me select a new password ... twice! In the meantime, I make the payment on the phone but the deadline had passed while I was on with tech support. The next day I noticed they charged me a $40 late fee. Why??? Follow up call to customer service, even with a supervisor, to dispute the late fee yielded nothing. Capital One is a joke. I'm transferring my balance. They lose $170 a month in interest ($2000 annually) for a one time $40 late fee. Dumb.

I have had my Quicksilver card for over…
I have had my Quicksilver card for over 4 years now, and my credit limit has not increased except for 1 $100 raise. What is that? Another meal at Longhorn. But really, I have several other cards with incredibly high credit limits of over $15,000 thanks to my perfect score, but Capital One refuses to increase my limit because "I don't spend enough". Which is fair, I rarely use it because most of the purchase I would run through this card are in the several thousand dollar range, and they won't give me the credit to do so, which means that all of the fantastic benefits they brag up (which are nothing compared to Chase) can't even be used since their cards are practically worthless for me. I have reached out multiple times, but nothing has changed. I am a bit frustrated with them at this point and plan to cancel the card as soon as I get my reward money from them. We'll see how that goes.

Ask for English speaking American with common sense
Capital One customer service is fine after you demand an English speaking American. Took me 3 phone calls to get an issue resolved. The first two calls were handled by Colombian based agents that are extremely difficult to understand. They do not seem to have any common sense. 1st failed attempt was 30 minutes on the phone. 2nd failed attempt was an hour on the phone. 3rd Attempt I demanded an english speaking American, problem resolved in 10 minutes.

Guess capital 1 took over BJ'S Comenty…
Guess capital 1 took over BJ'S Comenty bank, which was the bank they were using. Last week they told me to call back this week to reinstate the card. Gave them the card number and they said that's not the card number. Told the lady I'm looking right at it. She said my new card was mailed out on the 26th of February and I should receive my new card by March 9. I askew them if they were going to reimburse me the difference in the discount for the fuel they said no. I asked them if they were a new start up company she said no. I said any company who has been in business for a while would have made sure all customers had their new cards when the change happened. I asked her if my existing card would work and she said no. Bad way to start off.

Probably the worst customer service and…
Probably the worst customer service and backend processes in the industry. Here's a cool story of while I'll have a Capital One account again: Opened a Walmart credit card account > Card arrives > Activate card > Card doesn't work in the store > customer service claims I need to verify my SSN > Have to mail them photos of my SSN card, license, card > 6 weeks go by I call to check the status (no contact from them > They claim the images are blacked out and not viewable > Turns out when they processed my photos (color, HD), they scan them into their system... apparently they left the lid open?? idk > Despite not being connected to my social, the manager still closed the account at my request LMAO and I cut the card up and threw it away > Now there's a magical $500 worth of charges on this account that were made after the account was closed and it's past due and despite not being connected to my social it's still on my credit report > anytime I call to discuss it they won't talk to me because I can't verify the social on the account LMFAO #cryface Moral of the story: These people are ret@rded and should be shut down. Fck Capital One.

Dennis P. Who is Frustrated in San Diego
I do not recommend them. I have had to get a new card multiple times over the last few years. I am very careful with the confidential info with regards to my credit cards. In spite of that I have had multiple incidences where there were fraudulant charges on my card, causing me to get a new card, leaving gaps where I had to wait for them to send me a new card with a new card account number and new security code. It has been painful and I think I have had enough. Remember.... I have had to deal with fraudulant charges several times over the last 2 or 3 years. Did not fill in the date, because my experience happened more than once. Approximately 3 times over the past 3 years.

Illegal activities
Capital 1 offered me a low interest balance transfer in June 2022. Unfortunately they didn't transfer the money to the receiving bank. I was charged interest and had to make payments on money I didn't owe. Customer service is pathetic. I paid of the entire balance plus interest $1,100 - because , as soon as I didn't make a payment on money I didn't owe - the company gave me a bad credit entry. Once the balance was paid, my account showed a $1,100 credit balance. I called the company and asked them to refund the money. I was ensured the money would be refunded. Received a letter in the mail confirming a cheque would be processed within 15 days. 20 days- no cheque. Called again - customer service said : no refund will be issued. They sent the letter to buy time. According to the banks procedures, you can retrieve the amount paid within 90 days through the issuing bank. I contacted my bank and had them request a return of the funds I paid. Capital 1 is and has taken my money fraudulently. They should be jailed. Only thing I can do is provide other people with knowledge about their fraudulent activities. Stay clear of this scammy business.

Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company. I took a Post Office credit card to test with a small limit of £200, but it turned out to be Capital One. I made a few transactions but I am not satisfied because the phone app is not working. I tried to use my PC and check recent transactions on the website, but again not worked, there is no information about transactions, etc. You cannot change the Direct Debit to a higher amount, so they charge £5 each, you cannot make an additional payment because transactions are rejected. It seems the company wanted you to pay as long as possible. You cannot cancel your account over the internet. I used up the limit at about £153, I know this from my own notes because as I wrote capital they won't give you information, then you have to write down every piece of the information yourself if you want to be updated. Finally, after many attempts using different debit cards, I managed to deposit £150 and wanted to close my account. It is not possible via the Internet, so I called them. The rude consultant wanted to force me to pay an additional payment131. So to close the account having only partially used a limit of 200 I have to pay them a deposit of £281. In my opinion, Capital One are scammers. The consultant was insistent and rude, he kept saying deposit now, deposit now, and I had to stop the call. People, stay away from them.

Over charging customers After making my monthly payments on…
After making my monthly payments on time, and after going on my capital one app, downloaded to my phone, it occurred to me that not only am I paying my monthly payment on time but that capital one is also chargin another interest fee at another time and removing that fee also from my current available balance. So I made a $60 payment in December, a $40 payment in January, and was also a payment of $39 in February. And I still have $21 available Credit because not only do they charge a finance charge to your already payment that’s due but that they also charge another finance charge at the beginning of each month And deduct it from your available balance, leaving you hopeless to ever pay off the credit card! Absolutely no to this card if you’re about to apply cause you will get scammed out of your money……YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY 💰

My bank account got hack in and they did a reversal on payments that I may to Capital One so Capital One cancel my card never got in touch with me never sent me a letter in the mail never called me just cancel my credit card and I had paid on time every time had a zero balance so once I found out my account was hacked I contacted Capital One told them that my account was hacked they said they seen nothing on any reverses on my account my account was in good standard two days later I got an email so I called them and I asked him I said I called you guys two days ago and told you that my account was hacked and you guys said that my account was in good standard now I'm getting now I'm getting an email saying that my account is is canceled and closed they told me that my nothing reverses have been done two months ago and I said no the reversals have been done on February the 16th so I had a secure $200 limit and when they reversed all the charges it was it went to $2.29 so they took my $200 and told me that I owed them $229 then they went up on transunion and said that I owe them $200 on soon as they went up there and said my car was closed and canceled my score my credit score went down 45 points so either I need someone to reach out to me and see what's going on or either

Not lie to me about when I would…
Not lie to me about when I would receive an expedited replacement card. There was a suspected fraudulent transaction on my debit card. Got a text about and to confirm if this was me or not. Well it wasn't me so of course I responded 'no'. And I thought I was protected and could use my card normally. Later on that day my card was declined. So I went back and reread my text msgs and one of them had said to call. The first thing they asked for was my full social to verify my acct. I thought it was a fishing scam so I hung up the phone. What I didn't realize was that the instant I replied no, my debit card was cancelled. Nothing else was done until I called. When I realized what had happened it was after capital one bank was closed. Capital one cc support is 24 hours but not their banking. Next I called and confirmed yes my card was cancelled because of the attempted fraudulent transaction. It didn't go through, thanks for that. But it didn't even show in my banking records. I knew at this time a new card was a long way off. When I got some one on the phone I kinda let them have it because they blamed their system for auto cznc my card. Also my car is a the shop being repaired with a 1000 dollar deductible that I cannot pay without my card. The REP said no problem we expedite the new card to you. This never happened. The new card was made but it had std shipping. It took 2 more calls to get yet another new card made and its supposed to ship expedited now. 2 days ago a REP told me they had a tracking number from fed ex and I would get my new card yesterday. That was another lie. It took yet another call to get it sorted. And I hope it is. Fraud on 16th. 1st call on 17th. New card printed on 18th. 7-10 business days std shipped (not expedited). Thursday the 24th I should have had a new card. But at 7-10 business days puts it at the 27th before it might show up. New expedited should arrive Monday or Tuesday. 1 suspected bad transaction. 2 different reps lied to me and 5 days had gone by. 2nd card being made. And if I had not followed up they would not reached out to me. I have banked with capital one for many years now. Dealing with fraud has been night Mariah as there have been too many disputed transactions. Apparently now they can stop pending transactions before they hit ur acct. The crime was stopped. But pending fraud held my money in lue of the theft.

I've lost confidence Cap One
I've lost confidence in Cap One's ability to keep my money safe. Customer service is some of the poorest in banking. Closing all 6 of my accounts and transferring to Upgrade online banking with excellent customer service. I sense a Capital One exodus in the near future. Reviews matter! Spread the word.

Poor Customer Service &
Ridiculous Hold Times Wait time for a representative is ridiculous. Covid is over. Thats just an excuse now. I have banked with Capital One for a long period of time & to put a hold on a cashiers check that was deposited is not acceptable especially because there is money in an account to cover the check so no hold is needed. I also spoke with a "supervisor" & received absolutely no help. Is there a "human" reviewing any part of an account that is opened with Capital One? High interest bearing accounts do not justify the poor customer service. All thanks to quickass etrecov ery o rg for helping me out

Unhappy Customer
Me and my wife both have CapitalOne checking, savings and credit card accounts. I recommended CapitalOne to my brother and sister-in-law and after hearing their story I wish I hadn’t recommended them and am considering moving my business elsewhere as a result of their experience. My sister-in-law opened up an account/accounts and has been having trouble adding her husband (my brother) as a co-owner. She was unable to add him on line so she went to a branch office for help. She was told at the branch office they could not do it for her and she would have to do it on line which she had tried several times with no success. She was told that she needed to send an email to her husband inviting him to join which she had done multiple times which wasn’t working. Turns out that my sister-in-law and brother share an email account and that since that email address is already linked to the account she can not use that same email address to invite her husband to join as a co-owner. My brother does not have and does not want to establish a separate email account solely for the convenience of CapitalOne, and quite honestly I think he should not have to. I realize email accounts are quite common, but not everyone has one. I find it hard to believe that CapitalOne does not have some kind of work-a-round for such cases but according to the representative at the branch office they do not. Unbelievable but evidently fact. What I especially find irritating about this is the fact that I wanted to help out my brother and was going to send a email to CapitalOne to make sure there is not some other way to get him added as a co-owner. Giess what, I could not find a way to send my question to CapitalOne via email. Unbelievable they require their customers to have an email account but won’t allow the customer to communicate with them via email. I am on the hunt for another bank.

Terrible Customer service
Terrible Customer service, terrible rates. This is where i got my secured card to start my journey. Ive since raised my credit score exponentially. I called to see if I could have my rate reviewed since it is 31.24 percent and it matches the CASH apr. Have never seen that before. I was concerned so I called. I was informed that I cant have it reviewed I wanted to speak to someone above who I was transferred to and flat out denied me and said your request was met when you were transferred to me, I then said I am now requesting that again. To either someone above or adjacent to you. He repeated what he had said again and again. I demanded that the conversation we had be forwarded to someone above and for me to be contacted and he said I will forward it but no one is going to reach back out.

They deserve negative stars I see why there is no monthly fee and no overdraft fee that’s to reel you in because they will play with you money I would rather pay a monthly fee and actually get real service I disputed a transaction and they didn’t even try to contact me after they said they would if they needed anything further and sided with the scamming company until I called back and refused to pay and told them I had documentation if they would have just asked for it now I’m bank account in overdrawn and I can’t use it and all the can say because they reopened the case is we still have to review the documents after almost a week of having them so we can’t do anything like super unprofessional I been with them for almost 5 years and even have a credit card but I’m done it’s really stupid and unprofessional and you can’t just be playing with people money & time and we talking $300 it’s a lot for them to be asking to basically just give some company for nothing I have a baby on the way and I have large bills never again they know how hard it is out here right now and they know these little LLC’s be scamming people but they don’t care because it’s not their money

Pakistan outsourced "management" - AWFUL
Everyone knows banks are nearly universally bad. Capital One's Call centre and back end office is in Pakistan, and in 2019 they blew 91 million customer records and massive class action. It's true what others say here, they randomly freeze accounts and force you to sue them just to get deposits back. None of their "verification" systems work. And your data is not safe, held and accessible in the third world by $5 a day workers. No wonder there are some many scam telemarketers. The directors are tame cocker spaniels for a psychopath CEO

Want to go on a spendig spree? Find a Capital One card in the mail! They're already activated!
I've been a Capital One card user for over 20 years. I have a credit score just below 850. My Capital One card has a very high limit. I work hard to keep my credit where it is. I pay my taxes. I have never, once in my life paid a cent of credit card interest because my balances are paid before they even send a bill. I tell you these things because for people like me, it is very upsetting to find out that Capital One SHIPS ACTIVATED AND WORKING CARDS THROUGH THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. Yes, you read that correctly. Capital One will send a WORKING CARD through the postal mail. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE can open that envelope and start spending. Zero barriers and zero security. You're only recourse (as told to me directly by a Capital One representative when I called to inform them of my shock and dissatisfaction upon this discovery) would be to file a fraud dispute. What!? You're telling me that it would be my responsibility to fix the problem created by the very company because they chose to ship an activated credit card in the mail!? What's the trade off here? What are they saving me by making me call a number to activate the card, or to use the app to activate a new card? Am I supposed to believe that whatever inconvience that I would experience by activating a card is somehow worse than whatever the process of claim fradulent charges are? What year is this? Where am I right now? This has to be the Twilight Zone! STOP SENDING ACTIVATED CARDS! PERIOD! My God! Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be promoted to customer!

Checking account
Capital One is great until you need to open more than one checking account. They do not issue more than one checking card because they're "green now" despite having multiple checking accounts or a joint account. To make a purchase on the joint account, you would have to call, wait 20-30 minutes for a representative, and then have them switch which account the card is linked to. for ONE purchase! You can also make the switch using the mobile app, but I have just tried and this feature is "unavailable" making my joint account useless. This is the most nonsense backwards way of making purchases using different checking accounts. I will be moving to a different bank who may be less "green" but at least they're convenient and customer-satisfaction oriented.

Just say no to Capitol One
Just say no to Capitol One - I don't think these people even graduated from grade school - seriously pathetic. Capitol One closed an account with a balance and then sent an email after the fact. And of course, when I tried to log in on the web to investigate I was told that my accounts were not available then I waited on the phone for hours (with a Capitol One rep who was apparently unable to do anything but tell me over and over it was a long wait) to find out what happened to my account and account balance. Capitol One doesn't seem to know what professionalism is anymore. After hours of waiting, I finally got a clueless female manager who told me it would be escalated for investigation and I had to prod her for what the follow-up would be. I have no idea about what to expect for the follow-up beyond an email - Do not do business with these amateurs. In summation, they closed my account and lost the balance, and wasted hours of my time.

I recently opened an account with Capital One and I have been extremely pleased with the service I have received. The process of opening the account was quick and easy and I was even able to do it online. The customer service representatives were friendly and helpful, always willing to answer any questions I had. The variety of different products that Capital One Financial offers is also very impressive. From savings and checking accounts to investment options, I was able to find the perfect product to suit my needs. I have also been very impressed with the convenience of the online banking system and the ability to make payments quickly and easily. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience with Capital One and would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy financial institution.

Predatory Business Practices, do not trust!
I have used Capital One for over a decade and have two credit cards with them as well as a car loan that is now paid off. To say I am disgusted and appalled at the way they are doing business now is an understatement. I am posting this where I can to warn people that if they value their credit limit, do not use this company! I started with a smaller card and then added the Venture card and worked really hard to get my credit scores all past 800, and have added other cards that aren't Capital One. I contacted them once about their interest being so high and asked if it could be lowered based on credit rating and they lowered it for a year then jacked it back up. I worked really hard to fix my credit and get it in a great position, and I keep my card usage low and pay them off quickly. I started using my Chase & Discover cards more because the interest rates are almost 10 points lower, but I did use my Capital One for smaller purchases. Recently, Capital One started sending, well basically, extortion emails telling me that if I didn't use the credit limit they gave me, they would lower it. I was stunned! Especially in this day and age, trying to twist their customer's arms into putting themselves in debt is not only bad service, it's just asinine. A couple of days ago, they did lower my limit by 5000, tanking my credit score 30 (THIRTY) points in the process. There should be laws that stop companies from doing this sort of thing! Strong arming people into using their high interest cards to force debt on consumers is not just questionable business practices, it is flat out extortion by use of psychological pressure and predatory practices like this should be looked into and stopped.

I wanted to open a new CD. I already have 3 bank accounts and 2 credit cards at Capital One. Their app couldn't read my drivers license and you can't e-mail a scan, so they actually FROZE my money. Run, do not walk, away from this company!
I spent two days and almost 4 hours on the phone to not open a CD account. This is the most unorganized, pathetic bank I have ever dealt with. Between having to confirm by text or phone EVERY single time you log on and send them copies of my ID three times for them not to transfer my money. I have NEVER had such a hard time trying to give bank money in my entire life. Take my advice, do not deal with Capital One, you will be sorry.

Annual Fee
I have been a capital one customer for almost 13 years now, I agreed when I accepted the card, that I would have an annual fee. At this time today I called to see if they can assist waving the annual fee, spoke to an agent and also a supervisor and neither one met my expectations, I also work for a Financial Institution and to us Customer Satisfaction is priority. It is impossible Capital One can't waive a 59 dollar fee to a loyal customer of over 10 years and also with an excellent payment history, This is one of my oldest accounts and the only one that charges me an annual fee. Agents were not rude but dont offer options to have a satisfied customer. Hopefully you take customers comments seriously and offer a high level customer satisfaction.

Capital One not helping people like me with mental health and disabilities
I think Capital One have been 'abusing' my mental health for Profits for themselves. Im paying 30% interest. i sent them a letter asking for help, in regards to when they are adding fees, also asked them to send me sms when my payments are due, which is a facility they offer. they have not done this, and every time i inncur serious fees. on forums i can see how many people with disabilities and mental health issues have similar problems. my letter has still not been answered, i have sent 2 to them here in the UK. *****BEWARE CAPITAL ONE COMMITS…
*****BEWARE CAPITAL ONE COMMITS CONSUMER FRAUD ON CREDIT***** I applied and was approved for a Capital One Savor card. The terms of the agreement were "Earn a one-time $200 cash bonus once you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening". I spent $517 in the first 75 days after opening the account. I called customer customer service today to find out when I was going to see the full $200 show up as available. Charles, customer service rep said the following, "You account terms were changed after you opened your account from $200 rewards to $100", I asked how they could do this since my agreement was for $200 rewards in the first 90 days of spending $500, Charles reply was, "we can change the terms of the card anytime we wish. Yours was changed from $200 to $100 in the first 90 days. We can change the terms of the agreement anytime we wish with or without notice." I said so, then Capital One committed fraud when they arbitrarily changed the rewards amount from $200 to $100 without notice. Charles with capital One was silent. *****BEWARE CAPITAL ONE COMMITS CONSUMER FRAUD ON CREDIT***** i WOULD GIVE THEM A ZERO, BUT TRUST PILOT DOES NOT ALLOW ZEROS.

This bank is a complete scam
This bank is a complete scam. Every normal bank doesn't charge you interest if you paid off your previous statement balance in full. Well, guess what, CapitalOne found a loophole to scam people and take their money. They still charge you the interest if you didn't pay off the balance the month before. So to avoid getting charged interest, you have to pay at least 2 months in a row. This is ridiculous and I couldn't even imagine for a bank to do that. We should only pay interest on the months that were not paid off. Also, I previously had a bad experience with them when I purchased some apparel online and when I returned it I never got a refund. The clothing company was not responding so I opened a dispute. I had all the proof (the tracking number that said that the return was delivered and my emails to the company) After reviewing they denied my case!!! Thankfully, the clothing company finally got back to me after they got a chargeback notice and said it was "a technical mistake" and that they didn't process my return and I got my money back. Still, the fact that Capital One was not working on behalf of their customer shows what type of business they are. If I got scammed I would not get my money through chargeback because they don't want to do the work. I would close my credit card with them, but I know it's not a good thing for the credit report especially if you have a high credit line. So I'm just going to use my other credit cards that value their customers more. I can recommend using Discover card, they are a lot better company than this garbage of a bank.

I applied for a venture card in November finally got card in February
I applied for a venture one card in November 2022 as they offered 20.000 miles for spending $500 in the first three months. The card hadn't come by dec.23 yet showed open on the app. I called and they canceled, and re-issued another card and number. On January 27 2023 still no card I called again, man states that there was never a card sent then said he would leave a note in file and send card. Card arrived on February 12 2023. I activated then called to be assured that I still have the 3 months to spend $500 for advertised miles. Was informed that I only have 2 weeks to spend $500 to get miles. The guy talked to his superiors and they said "that's all" I actually had the card for 10 minutes not 2 1/2 months. I ask what kind of business would do this to a new customer? I will NEVER deal with capital one again!

Politeness = A- Efficiency/Knowledge/etc. = F
I am an American who lives overseas. I use my friend's phone number for my Capital One credit card file. I cannot access my account online w/o disturbing my friend due to CO's two-step verification process. As a result, I had my statements emailed to me once a month until recently when I was told that this service now requires a two-step verification process as well effective January 1. So CO has effectively shut down any avenue for me to get my credit card information - without disturbing my friend in the US - other than asking a c/s agent to read me all my activity line by line. But it gets worse. Two days ago I was told that I could use my foreign phone for my file. This was exciting and welcome news. I was told it also was effective Jan. 1 by no less than four c/s agents. In fact, a supervisor, who should have known better, said it was fine so she deleted my friend's number and inputted mine. However, today I noticed my overseas number did not include the last digit and long story short, I found out that all that talk about being able to use my overseas phone number was utter nonsense. I spent four hours a few days ago simply trying to get my statement sent to me via email; I spent another three hours today trying to figure out what was going on. I'm a 20-year customer who can't access his own info by himself. I've had disappointing experiences with CO before, too may to count actually. Many hours on the phone. But my experience this week is a new low, I think. It's remarkable how many people told me that I could use my overseas phone number for my file. I went from frustrated, to elated, to nearly apoplectic when I found out I couldn't. How can these agents be so poorly trained? Well, I received one answer from a supervisor I spoke to. He told me that first line agents are a disaster (his words). He said that sometimes they will lie in order to pass the problem to someone else. I find that revolting. Today, one agent told me over and over that a supervisor will be able to input my overseas number and I asked him three time to make sure. At another unrelated time one agent insisted any purchases I make online will show up immediately on CO's system. That was an untruth. He tried to convince me that my hotel room purchase was declined when it actually was accepted but confirmed the next day on their system. I honestly don't understand how I can know more than some of these agents. Capital One's customer service is shockingly poor. Unfortunately, they don't care. If they did, 88% of their ratings on this site wouldn't be one-stars. They have set up a system where you cannot complain to someone directly who will respond. All you could do is complain to an agent or supervisor, both of whom are often under-trained, and they will pass complaints to...who knows? I was told they won't reply either. You could also send a letter but that's it. So if you use CO be prepared. You will get different answers from different agents. Moreover, you will be placed on hold frequently. It is truly one of those situations where decision makers train their agents like identical robots mostly on etiquette but not on problem solving. In my opinion, some customers either overreact or not honest about c/s situations. However, if you read a poor review on CO, believe it. Thank you CO for wasting so much of my time this week. You remain in my hall of shame of truly terrible customer service. Update: Because they inputted a bogus number onto my account, I can't revert back to my friend's number which I used for years. You heard me right...to get my friend's number onto my account again like before, it already has to be on account so they can send the number a verification code. Catch-22. According to them, they can't simply change the number even though they verified me six ways till Sunday. All they can do is send the issue to the back office where I'm sure it will disappear. Wow, just wow. Words cannot adequately describe how poorly run this company is.

The absolute worse "customer service"…
The absolute worse "customer service" in all of humanity history! I called for a simple name change on my account. After 6 calls and 36 minutes of wasting my precious time I could not update my last name. I called customer service 5 times and each time someone answered the phone but never said anything. I could hear the reps in the background repeating customers addresses and account numbers. On my sixth call I requested to cancel my credit cards and I immediately got a representative. After explaining to the representative, the situation, he asked for my card number. After repeating my card number twice (he repeated the number incorrectly both times), I simply gave up and hung up. Within the next week I am paying off my auto loan and credit accounts. I will never recommended anyone take out a loan with capitol 1 unless they are desperate.

POOR BANKING BAN K
Capital one customer service said electronic transfer using their website would take one day. Then days later, I get a posted email saying it was credited - But it was not credited and it did not apply to my account balance. And they did not subtract the payment from my account balance freeing up my credit line. No other notification from them to notify me that I did not receive credit to my card and that my credit line was still frozen because over the limit. Even though that electronic transfer paid off the entire balance. I Called them to clarify: now they said now it takes a week?” - really. who's wrong the 1st rep that said a day or this one that says a week? Then i looked on THEIR website, and it said on the last day of that week, returned check, incorrect account numbers. Said account number or/and routing wrong. Checked it ON TD BANK AND my check book. Its all 100% correct! I called my bank which had the funds that were going to be transferred in my checking account, and they said no attempt was ever made to transfer money out to Capital one at any time by Capital one bank or online banking or by anyone. Then cap one said I should investigate and Said I have to go to my bank and get a letter saying there was no transfer - really? I have to.... Stay away from Capital After all this, I told them to cancel the whole electronic transfer. I asked them If I deposit the money directly into a cap one bank, how long would it take to clear? The account supervisor at Capital one said, “only one day.” But when I deposited it at their bank teller , they gave me a receipt and it said, “1-2 days! That would screw up my plans to use the card the next day on something urgent. Stay Away from Cap One. The are an incompetent bank with a chaotic system of people that have no clue about banking, what’s going on in their own bank, and extremely poor customer service, in my opinion. ======================================================================= Credit cards: they gave me an initial 1,000 card. After a year of using it and paying perfectly, I applied for an increase. They said, no. I did not use the card enough! I don't use the card enough because it does not have the credit line I need to charge what I want ! MY advice: Do not bank with them, no matter what the rates and stay far away from their credit cards and find a normal major bank to deal with that you can trust to handle your banking and credit needs

After calling to close my account they…
After calling to close my account they failed to do so. And a year later they started reporting failed payments for their annual fee to my credit. After calling to clear things up they did it again and they refuse to take responsibility. Customer service was rude and claim it’s my fault they are unable to perform their job correctly. This company is COMPLETE TRASH!

This bank is full of it
This bank is full of it. They continually misuse funds and take other people's money without due cause. They will literally hold you money for zero reason even after it's been 100% completed through the system and then tell you they can't do anything. What they're doing is taking your money and putting it somewhere so they make money and then giving back. When they hold the funds longer it's because wherever they moved it is losing and not gaining. This is one big Ponzi Scheme and someone needs to do something immediately I already reported them to quickass etrecov ery or g

Never Trust Capital One
Never use one of their cards to make a hotel reservation or any large purchase from a merchant you don't know well and trust. If there is any fraud or other issues, Capital One will do absolutely nothing to help you. You can literally spend days talking to foreign customer service folks with broken English who can't/won't do anything to assist you. Save yourself headaches in the long run and only use Capital One cards for small, in-person purchases like food and products you've personally examined. Also, only purchase services from people/businesses you have dealt successfully with before and absolutely trust. If a merchant does something dishonest, Capital One doesn't care and you are entirely on the line for their fraudulent actions.

I have been a capital one customer since 2011
I have been a capital one customer since 2011. I have been late only a hand full of times since then, maybe four/five (maybe), including last month, and this month. My payment is normally due on the 1st it's the 9th. Although I phoned last week to inform them I was going to be late, the rep said they would document my account, well today a payment that should of been around 40.00 cost me 92.00. Along with a DUNN letter, I'm utterly disgusted. I will no longer be using Capital one. The level of customer care is HORRIBLE even for long term customers. The fees are insane. There are so many other companies willing to appreciate their customers and not attack them with fees there's no longer a reason for me to deal with it, or anyone else for that matter. AGAIN I have BARELY EVER BEEN LATE. The lack of customer care is insulting. No more

I was racially profiled while trying to open a capitol one 360 / 11 months ce. $25;000.00 was transferred from my pnc a cont and held on to without placing in the CD.they claimed that they needed to verify that the money belonged to me and needed to get my bank on the phone as well as pics of me and what IP address was my computer. It was crazy. I went into their cafe office and gave my id to the staff, but the online Dept said even though I am there with id that wasn’t enough to verify that I am the person of that name who has the account. Racial profiling at its best.I closed the account after I was verified by PNC bank.

You cannot open a joint CD account
You cannot open a joint CD account. You need to open a one person account online and arrange to transfer the funds. Once the account is opened successfully, you need to “invite” the other person to the account. The system would not “verify” my cell number…..a step necessary to “invite” my husband to the account….because the provider account is not in my name. Customer service could not override this issue. Absolutely ridiculous! I instructed them to cancel the account and will go elsewhere with my money!

Some of the worst customer service…
Some of the worst customer service EVER!! These cards and company are by far the most unprofessional and inconsiderate out of the bunch that I currently posses. I have been a CC customer of theirs for 4 years now and have had nothing but BAD experiences with them when dealing with CS. Lack of knowledge on products and ZERO assistance with said products. Starting with a secured card, I worked up to a Platinum card, but can't get past a $500 limit. My QuickSilver One card won't get past a $600 limit, all while having limits of $25,000+ on my other rewards cards. I had an offer to upgrade my QuickSilver One card to a QuickSilver card 4/22 so that I would no longer have the ridiculous yearly fee for what is an abomination of a valued CC. But, this offer was NOT extended to me in ANY capacity. When I arbitrarily called to see about an upgrade on my account, I was made aware of the "missed offer", made aware that they had made NO attempt to contact me about the offer (no email, text, app notification, nor letter), and made aware that CapitalOne is NOT responsible for informing their customers of any potential offers being extended and that is was MY responsibility to call in every month to check the availability as opposed to the company sending out offer letters/emails/correspondence. As well, since I did not call in last April to accept the offer I was NEVER made aware of, I no longer qualified and that I would need to call in monthly going forward to check for any other offers. I was all about promoting CaptialOne when I first started my credit repair journey, as they seemed to be a decent company. But, once I did a bit more research, had to actually interact with their customer service dept., and had experiences from different companies, it was an easy choice to put these cards away and NEVER use them again. And after this latest debacle, you can trust I will NEVER use another CapitalOne product again. With that said, I STRONGLY SUGGEST you stay away from ANY CaptialOne products if you value GOOD customer service. AMEX and Wells Fargo for the WIN!!

Don’t do it go to another bank.
This comes down to horrible customer service and a false add for their application that claims you can log in with your Face ID and yea it “used” to work now every time I check my account banking and credit threw their app I have to 2-step verification to sign in even if I clicked back for a min requires taping card to phone or getting a message with a code. Well sorry to say I’m closing all accounts with them savings-checking and credit cards. Good luck calling customer service I speak English it is a problem when you can’t understand the other person on the phone that says they can’t help is all I got out of my brief conversation after holding for 25 mins. Sinking like the titanic

Sexist accounting practices
Despite having a joint account someone at capital one decided my husband should be the primary holder and I the secondary so despite being able to access all the money I cannot access a single statement. 1950’s sexism at its finest.

The worst customer service ever
The worst customer service ever. I’ve been with them since 2005 so over 17 years now and they wouldn’t waive a late payment fee as a courtesy for a long time customer that has an excellent on time payment history ( I only missed my payment by 30 minutes making it at 8:30p ) ridiculous

Had a quick cash interest charge on my card. In January went to Walmart to get cash back and it declined for some unknown reason. I'm still being charged interest for a cash advance that never happened. It was a small amount, 31 cents, but still, I'm being charged simply for the attempt.

Spark 2% CASH BACK Business Card
Spark 2% CASH BACK Business Card, like a American Express card with a VISA logo. No limit but can not go over $4,000.00 EVER. Never late, had the card for 1 year now, high credit score can not go passed $4,000.00. When I called I am transfered every time to a different deparment, they tell me keep making payments and keep it under $4,000.00 even when there is no payment due. Really, Y would I do that? This intrudes on my Cash Flow, get the Chase Ink Premeir or get Amex.

No customer service at all
No customer service at all, the business and personal checking, 360 is a joke. No one answers telephones, they leave you on hold for hours, they care nothing of the customer. There are better banks.
