This company is fraudulently receiving payment from my checking account for one of their customers. They are unwilling to take a report. I spoke with account supervisor Julie #URM703 but she told me they are unwilling to take any action to stop future payments. I will follow up with a police report as recurring payments in excess of $800 have been stolen from my checking account at another bank to pay their customer's account. They have the ability to identify their customer and put an end to it but refused to do so.

This is the most ridiculous experience…

This is the most ridiculous experience i have ever had.I recently opened a spark business credit card with them and when making my first month payment i somehow entered a different account number , i was probably doing something else at that time so my payment was returned after a week or so.Of course during that time Capital One cleared my available balance i was using it again so my $5000 credit after the payment returned went up to $8900 with interest and feed and all so i didnt realize rightaway that it was because of an account number i found out after couple of days so i changed it to correct one and paid the balance in full one day before the next due date.So these guys thought we are doing some funky business and who would pay their balance in full right if they had bad intention,so they put a restriction on my account so i called them and they said you need to provide state issued id , ss card , and the bank statement of the business,so i provided everything and by that time my payment of course cleared and not returned. After 2 weeks or might be little early i called them back to see what happened because i got mad that even of i paid my account in gull they charged me an interest rate of $85 out of no where, so i called them back and this time after all, they say they need to do a conference call with my bank to actually get a confirmation that this is my account and i paid this amount and cleared and i am not a fraudulent person??My financial institution i will involve them!?they said they will call me back no one did of course again so i called them to close my account i said i want to throw up with this capital one, working like 3rd world bank, its the worst experience i had.I had a reward which was promised to me and i saved it they said since there is a restriction on it and if i close my account it will be gone too.First they said they will redeem it and send it to me before they close my account but after a while later they said they cant so my hard earned $631 reward was gone too as well!Shame on Capital one i will never ever work with this disgusting financial institution

    Don’t Choose Capital One

Still charged me interest when I paid a large balance in full. 4 years I paid on time and paid $3k balance in full before my next account billing cycle and still received a bill for interest after my account was at $0 for over a week. I had the same issue with Discover and Visa but one call they quickly addressed it and took my balance back to $0. Capital One refused to even review options. Stating they cannot do anything with interest. The customer service was nothing like Discover or Visa. Just the way they handled it was poor. I paid the additional interest and closed the account. I will not use Capital One again. There are plenty of other creditors with much better customer service.

Do Not Use This Credit Card

After issuing my card to me and after I used it for weeks, they suddenly declined it and wanted extra proof of my identity -- government ID, SS card, proof of residence. My account was locked and I could see nothing. They never sent me notice that the account was locked. They said after I sent them the proof of identity they would send to me by USPS in 7-10 days their approval and my card was locked until then. I paid off the card. DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT CARD. I am quite convinced that this was not an ordinary scam and that I was dealing with Capital One. Why they do this is a mystery. They provided no explanations on the telephone.

RUN AWAY!! IT IS THE WORST CREDIT CARD, BANK

IT IS THE WORST CREDIT CARD, BANKING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE, PRODUCT, and TECHNOLOGY company out there. Not sure how do they even exist in today's competitive world. JUST CLOSED OUT ALL MY ACCOUNTS, my friend who works for their offshore center told me that their agents are selling customer information and creating fake accounts and what not. Just closed everything and ran out of this shady institution.

I put a $200 security deposit on the capital one credit card. The card took forever. I call customer service to cancel the card and they told me I had two negative balance plus I never received a card or activated a card. I’ve talk to five different customer service representatives all five told me five different things. Please avoid these people. They were very unorganized and unprofessional.

Horrible and rude. Got extra charges paying what agent told me I should

Their system is not registering payments correctly and agents giving out apparently incorrect information. That resulted in extra fees even that I paid the amount I was told on time. When I caught it months later, I waisted 40 min with an agent on the phone, who got disconnected and not only didn’t fix it but didn’t even made notes. Then I waisted almost an hour with an agent who couldn’t figure out why I have charges either, but again couldn’t fix it and transferred me to a supervisor. Jasmine SUJ641 was extremely disrespectful and basically didn’t care that I got charges because I was given wrong payment about by an agent and she refused take responsibility for him. I’ve been with this company for awhile and I will stop using them immediately. Horrible polices and even worse customer service!

Just wanted to let you know that both of us are so ticked off at CapOne right now. We received your letter telling us our 30K credit limit is at risk because we DON’T SPEND ENOUGH?? We ignored it thinking it was Sam or a hoax. However, you just destroyed both our 800+ Credit Score when you reduced our CL to 10K. 1st: we’re lucky enough to always pay off all of our Credit Cards, monthly. So, you’ll never see the balances you are forcing us to have. 2- You continuously tell us we eligible to add more, different CapOne cards - why would we? 3- You are a credit predator, who’s Blackmailing its clients! Called your cust. svc tonight.. and all she could do is read us your “threatening” letter telling us to spend more! 4- Guess what- as soon as we use up all our rewards pojnts/$’s YOU WILL BE OUT OF HERE, together with all the VISA & MC cards we hold with you! To anyone reading this- this company professes to be one of the Top CC companies - they will force you into a corner to extract more money from you! Stay away!! And if you are thinking of banking with them, RUN!!!!

I used to love my CapitalOne account

I was loving my capital one account and had good things to say until something went wrong. Then just like everyone else here, my experience with customer service was a nightmare. I received a booking from my agent, the booking sent me an echeck, I was to handle the purchase of certain items paid by the client to have for the booking. CapitalOne said it was a fraudulent check. The client insisted it wasn’t and became testy about having to verify the check. After 2 days and over 4 hours of phone conversation with CapitalOne and being denied speaking to a manager, they decided to just close my account which included my college-age child’s account. So I was victimized 3 times by CapitalOne deciding on their own to close the account, my losing my job with the client because he became so insulted with the hassle and my child losing access to her money as she lives away from home. Thanks Customer Service! I’m never recommending CapitalOne ever again. They’re great unless something goes wrong and you really need them. Then they show their true colors. And something at some point always goes wrong in anyone’s life.

    Impossible dispute demands

Called in because I had to dispute a transaction where I had gotten scammed. They act like they want to help but the process for proving you've been scammed is unreasonable and really impossible to complete to their satisfaction. I had made a purchase received a different item sent in proof that I had received a different item incentive proof that the company was a scam but Capital One wanted me to get a letter on company letterhead from a similar company saying what the scam company did wrong how they could fix it and how much it could cost. All Capital One needed to do was look at the evidence it was blatantly obvious.

    Beware!!

We have been CO credit card customers for about 5 years and paid the balance off in full each month. Recently, CO sent us (me, husband, 2 college kids) 4 new capital one cards (in same envelope) by mail. They never arrived. They were sent "pre-activated" and used to make 5 different fraudulent "in-person" transactions about 10 miles from our home totaling about $2000. CO alerted us to the fraud and the cards were immediately cancelled. CO was great at first and refunded all of the transactions. Then a week later, they closed the account without notice and "re-billed" the largest transaction ($750) back to our account. This transaction occurred at Walmart and Walmart was able to obtain surveillance photos of the person who used the card. A police report was filed, suspect identified and warrant issued for arrest. I sent CO the police report; however, it did not contain the photos because the case is still pending. I also sent the statement from the police department as to why the photos were excluded by TX law. CO fraud department still refuses to refund our money. They say they need the photos and they want the responding officer to call them(!!!!). I asked for a direct phone number and was told that the officer would have to call the 800 number. I also asked for an email address and was told they do not have an email address. I believe it is CO's policy to frustrate the customer to the point where you just give up and pay the fraudulent charge. I can't think of another explanation. I have direct evidence that I did not make the fraudulent charge and they still do nothing.. Every time I call I've also been disconnected several times and have to call back and start all over. The reps also get very angry if you push back at all. Quite frankly, I'm flabbergasted.

There is no such thing as customer…

There is no such thing as customer service here. I have had my card for 3 years with EXCELLENT history. I was recently rewarded a travel offer of $100, I booked a stay through capital travel, had to edit my stay by one day. There is no way to edit reservations through THEIR portal, thus you must cancel and rebook. When I went to rebook, my offer was not available. I called and was told I had to wait for the transaction to drop off of my statement and call back if it still does not reappear. Transaction dropped off; no travel offer came back (which expired Dec 23). I called back and was told the offer could no longer be used. I explained my previous conversation with THEIR employee, however because the call was NOT recorded (although it says your call will be recorded before even speaking to a representative) they could not honor the offer. It took me 2 hours on the phone with multiple different representatives, from Capital One Travel AND Capital One Bank to finally get someone name Dejah to rectify the situation in 30 secs. Clearly, there is no communication between Capital One Travel and Capital One Bank. For me at this point it wasn't about the $100 it was about the principle of the situation. I use my credit card as my bank card so I pay Capital One thousands of dollars to receive POOR customer service, POOR communication, and a VERY POOR experience. Currently, researching a different company to take my hard earned $$$ to.

Not customer focused, poor technology, unhelpful staff.

Not customer focused at all. Poor customer service and dispute resolution. I have had capital one since 2011 when they bought out Chevy Chase Bank, and everytime I have had an issue such as disputing a charge, ATM issues, and inquiries about products, they have not done much to help or have not helped at all. I have spent hours providing documentation, pictures, correspondences for disputed transactions (not many, about a handful) and it was always insufficient even though I provided everything they asked for repeatedly. The banking side is more helpful than the credit card services side if that means anything. Their reply to my requests were consistently: "There is nothing I can do." I am no longer using CapitalOne after a trip overseas where I could not use my card for select online services without using my US phone number. No one, that I know, uses their native country sim card while travelling -- in country or in region SIM cards are used to avoid roaming fees. Prior to my trip, I requested at multiple customer service levels to have my UK phone number added, to have the SMS purchase verification code sent to email, and to have the authentication via SMS removed removed regarding travel services so I can buy goods and services online. They did not even attempt to assist me. They directed me to visa global services which redirected me to Capital One. I was giving them ideas on how to solve my own problems. It is as if they don't even know their own services. Their technology is outdated and their understanding of their customers and trends in spending is not well developed. Email is conveinent overseas as it can be accessed from everywhere. CapitalOne needs to consider what if a traveller doesn't have a smartphone or loses their smart phone or is mugged?? Other credit cards sent email notifications (Discover) and text. Luckily, I have friends who helped me make purchases so I was not stuck in a bind. CapitalOne has alot of products, but they only help you spend your money (received promotion emails to try to entice me to spend money on things outside of my spending patterns and capital one shopping) and they don't help with disputes. I was also tired of getting notifications that I haven't used my card for a while or that I should not transfer money out of my savings. It is my money and I will do what I want with it. I started moving my money out of my bank CapitalOne bank accounts and will be placing my direct deposit into another account after the holidays.

The absolute worst with no exception

This company customer service is intentionally antagonistic. I spend several a hours a month in agony on the phone with them for various issues. I'm out of the country so it's difficult for me to obtain another credit card or I would do it in a heart beat. They are not truthful and incompetent. If you want to maintain your sanity, avoid them at all cost.

7 days after I activated my Capital One…

7 days after I activated my Capital One CC my card was frozen for suspected fraud. When I called and spoke to their fraud department they indicated that their system had triggered the freeze based on my historic utilization patterns. I've only been an active client of their for 7 days so the idiocy of this statement was perplexing. Trying to remain calm and open minded I asked for them to explain this to me to which they had no answers. Realizing at this point I was dealing with a poorly educated or trained individual in the fraud department that was simply reading a list of scripted responses that made absolutely no sense whatsoever with respect to the questions I was asking I tried to move on. They advised I would need to send them a copy of a government issued ID to confirm my identity which I agreed to do assuming it would quickly get my card unfrozen. Sadly this is when I was advised it would take 5 days for them to review my ID and potentially un freeze my account. Please note I didn't say up to 5 days. NoNo....they indicated it would take atleast 5 days. It's at this point I asked to escalate the situation to a manager because I couldn't wait 5 days and the Black Friday sales I was trying to take advantage of would be over by then. A complaint file was opened but the fraud department flat out refused to transfer me to a manager. I was also never sent a link to proceed with uploading a copy of my ID and begin the process. Calling back the next day I immediately asked to be transfered to a manager and was hung up on. Called back again and this time I was transfered from a representative in the fraud department to a manager who advised he couldn't help me cause he didn't work within the fraud department. I was then transfered back to the fraud department where the representative flat out refused to transfer me to a manager within the fraud department so I could escalate my complaint. He also didn't send me the link to upload my ID to them and subsequently hung up on me. In conclusion stay away from this company. They don't care how or when they freeze your account and refuse to provide any level of customer service resolution on issues that could be life or death if you can't access your credit.

    Customer service is the worst!

Customer service is the worst!! I had to get a replacement debit card. My card repeatedly kept getting declined. I called and was told it was a security issue and if I tried again there would be no more issues. Had to call 5 more times, speak with four more customer service reps and 1 manager, still got no where. On call 6 with a different manager I was told they would overnight me a new debit card. I confirmed three times that it would be overnighted and that I would have it the next day! Next day no card, called and was told to give the system an hour to update and they would be able to give me a fed ex tracking number. 4 hours later still no card and still no tracking number. I called now for the 7th time was told by another bad customer service rep and another manager that delivery would take 1-3 days. Every single person I spoke with gave me a complete different story. Still don’t have the new debit card! This bank is a joke!!!!

They refuse to fix a 2 month issue and expect me to pay for fraud charges!!!

I have been having the same issue with this company for going on 2 months now. I keep getting unauthorized charges hitting my account. Nobody other than myself has had access to the physical card. I keep it on my person most of the time and when it's not on me it's in my locked 2019 dodge minivan so if someone else had access to it I would know. I have replaced my card 3 times, changed my password 3 times, and always notify them of unauthorized charges. Now they are just making flat ridiculous excuses why this is happening. That's not including the ridiculous language barrier every time I call them. luckily up to this point, these unauthorized charges have been declined due to my account being over the credit limit. When I asked the lady from the fraud department if I would be expected to pay for these unauthorized charges if there not declined she told me yes I absolutely would. I already used my yearly limit of having unauthorized charges reversed. The only reason I gave 2 Stars instead of one was because of the easy approval process and affordable monthly payment. Also, I love that none of their cards have an annual fee which is something I haven't found in any other secured card. If I was making this review based solely on this issue I would give less than one star if that was an option.

Capital One is shady, stay away.

I purchased some merchandise from my local Walmart back in Feb-March of 2022, eyeglasses to be specific. The optometrist took it upon himself to change the prescription the machine spit out for him after doing my vision test. I have astigmatism so this ruined the glasses right then and there, I could not use them at all. I brought them back within 30 days, returned them and was never refunded. A couple months go by and I call up Capital One to initiate a chargeback. They ask for all sorts of information which I give them over the phone (seriously, get an internet chatline where customers can easily understand your foreign hired help), and an adjustment is posted to my account to the value of $415.57. I'm set up for notifications if any documents are added to my account. They added a document to my account asking for more documentation, the same documentation that I gave them already, yet I was not notified in any way. But the Document that said they found in favor of Walmart? Oh yeah, I got that notification. Just do yourselves a favor and stay away from Capital One and / or Walmart Vision Center.

Don't do any kind of business with capital One

Don't do any kind of business with this bank!!! I have had the worse experience ever! It started with them reposessing a totaled out car. Then canceling my insurance claim by making a claim with the insurance company stating that the car was not totaled in a accident it was Vandalized. The car was valid at 18,900 but they sold it at a car auction for 3,500. To make matters worse they wouldn't even give the insurance company the payout amount so they could pay off the loan. This went on for over a year. Then they harassed me about payment. Finally I got it straight and the insurance company paid it off back in June of 2022. Skip to present day, my account was charged 569.85 on November 18th 2022 for the car note that was paid off. I was told by the auto finance department to dispute the charges. The representative said It was nothing they could do because it is was an online automatic draft and she would send me my receipt for the transaction. This bank is a f@&× joke. They are some heartless mf that don't gaf about s#!+ but ripping people off. I wouldn't recommend this bank to a stray dog!!! And will be telling my experience to anyone that will listen. If I can save just one person from going through what I went through and still experiencing with this bank it would make me happy.

This is the dumbest product ever

This is the dumbest product ever! I have 4 employees and do 3M+ plus in sales. I had a fidelity card, but all 4 cards came on the same statement, with the same account numbers so I needed a card that had 4 separate numbers on the statement. My fidelity card had a 125K credit limit. I was told there is no pre-set limit. What they don't tell you is there is a preset limit, and they won't tell you what it is!! I am moving all my account to CHASE INK, where they will tell you what your limit is. STAY AWAY FROM CAPITAL ONE! BTW...this is the email I just sent their executive team Hello. I had a nice call with your rep today at 1132 am. Listen to the tape. When I first obtained your card I was very impressed with your service. I thought about investing in your stock, now, I am thinking of shorting your stock. I ended up putting this 58K sale on my Chase Ink account. If this is how you treat HNW clients, you should be embarrassed. LISTEN TO THE TAPE! The tape would make an outstanding HBS case study. I also just looked at your 88% 1 star reviews on trusted pilot. Your “no pre-set spending limit” is not true! All you have to do is disclose that there is a pre-set limit, but you will not tell the business owner what it is! Listen to the tape!

Had a Capital One credit card years ago…

Had a Capital One credit card years ago and cancelled it after they would hold my payment until it was late, then charge me late fees. Never wanted to deal with this bank again. Recently had my REI Mastercard switch banks to Capital One within last couple months. Has been another awful experience. They place holds on the account for "fraud" despite a clear history of the same monthly payment to that company. Trying to get the hold off took an act of God. Couldn't understand the representative, had to have her spell things because the language barrier was unbearable. Had to correct her on my name several times. Awful service and practices.

    They ignore disputes

They ignore disputes. I received unacceptable service and they denied without moving a finger. They didn’t even wait to receive my letter and denied me. They ask for merchant paperwork and automatically deny your dispute without caring why u filed it. pretend and lie. This credit card is unreliable. I am a great customer and when you need them to stand up for you…they don’t. I spread the word and so far all my coworkers, business partners friends and family cutting up their cards. They just lost beaucoup money for the petty money I was disputing. It was about the principal and they didn’t even bother. Nevertheless, they only went by lies from the merchant and disregarded all the information I gave them. Like I said I was denied before they ever read my rebuttal letter. Seriously heart broken they didn’t care to fight for me.

    On a scale of 1-10

On a scale of 1-10, getting anything done through this credit card company is worse that having surgery, a negative 1000. They arbitrarily change your credit limit. They do not want to help you with disputed charges and make any questions so convoluted, time consuming and confusing there’s just not enough patience or time in this world to wade through their objections, blocking statements and down right refusals to help. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THIS COMPANY. I’ll be canceling mine as soon as I can unravel all the complications involved.

    No Virtual Card Provided

I signed up for the Capital One Quicksilver card to get access to purchase Taylor Swift tickets ahead of time. My virtual card information was promised if I was approved for the card. I applied and was instantly approved for the card with a $10,000 limit (we have credit in the low 800's), but no virtual card was provided. After speaking to at least a dozen Capital One employees (customer service, digital tech, event staff, and supervisors) I am being told that they cannot help me get the digital card and that I will have to wait for the new card to arrive. Lies, FRAUD, Bait & Switch, 3 hours WASTED, Useless Staff is all you are going to get for such a shady organization! I wonder how many people like myself were tricked to applying for a card, and then not being able to use it right away. Scammers!

I've been dealing with this bank's credit card for 18 years make my payments weeks in advance sometimes and now they hit me with an over limit fee because they charged me after my payment and interest charge. What a great way to show you have no respect for your customers. Now I understand what this bank really is and they lie absolutely lie in their advertisements. They're not about customer service they're about screwing you and getting the highest rate possible and frankly I shouldn't even pay them unfortunately I've got more Integrity than they do because they have none. Stay away from this Bank stay away from their credit cards stay away from the management that has no respect for the customer.

    Incompetence

Unfortunately, as of recent, my experience with Capital One have been less than pleasant. The beginning of September 2022, I made a significant investment and restructured my finance in order to make the necessary accommodations. as a result, my bank made an error and sent Capital One an unauthorized letter to close my Venture credit card account as a result of a pay-off being executed. This became evident to me immediately the following day on my Capital One Mobile app. I reached out immediately to the Customer Service Department at capital One immediately upon learning that my account was restricted or closed. This is when I learned about the error. I made the effort to contact my bank and connect them with Capital One. Information was exchanged and my bank admitted the error and apologized for the inconvenience to me and Capital One. What was supposed to take 7 to10 days to reach a resolution, has taken over two months. Capital One never asked for any written documentation or supporting documents. Weeks following that call, I kept outreaching Capital One seeking a status resolution, but the only statement received that it was under review and I needed to keep calling. It took 5 weeks to get a letter stating that my request was denied. This lack of attention bothered me, and I decided to call and ask for a reason for the denial to reinstate my card. After several note taking and escalation of my call, I explained that I also had a letter from the bank admitting their error as further prove that I did not close the account and why it should be reinstated. I told this letter would help and was asked to fax and mail a copy of the letter with an explanation and it would take an additional 10 days to review. On 11/8/2022, I had to once again call to learn after 30 minutes of waiting that my request was denied. Now, this is my issue. I thought I was a good customer with a tier 1 credit. I have never been late with any of my payments to none of my creditors and always been in good standing with Capital One. I constantly receive credit offers from capital one for all types of credit lines. Millions of dollars are spent in marketing and advertising to increase the diversification of financial portfolios and hopefully the majority are from solid consumers. I considered myself a "solid consumer" and Capital One if failing to retain me. I am disappointed in Cap One and how I have been treated. Cap One, I will never deal with them again!

My husband passed away in February 2022. He was 67. We were together for almost 46 years. All of a sudden CapitalOne sending me a bill from his credit card that I know nothing about. He's been already dead. I'm calling them to explain - they say "Fine, everything is ok". A month later I get the charge transferred to my "account" w/ $25 fees. I don't even have cards - not mine, not my husband's. There is no cards and no activity - though they claim a dead person bought something from somewhere. It's all fraud they perpetuate. Think more than twice to be a Capital One bank Customer!!

The custom service of the Capital One bank is either nonexistent or totally incompetent. It appears that the company rather pays their staff for providing non service to its customers, most probably relying that thus no legal action can follow against it. 1. In May 2022 I received a card Venture X that I did not ask for and was immediately charged for it almost $400 per year!! Actually, I asked for a card with no annual fee before my trip to Europe and no foreign transactions fees. I could not use that card and had to pay all my expenditure in Prague in cash for 6 months, also suddenly my account was blocked and permanently!! Today, 10 Nov. at 6.30 pm NY time I called the company and a lady with a slight Spanish accent told me...a) that she could not unblock my account as she does not know how to do it and left me listening to the music for 15 minutes in a hope that I will give up upon my request when I asked for somebody more experienced than she obviously was; b) I called her again and she told me that she cannot do anything because I am recording the telephone conversation, I was just reminding her bank's own policies, trying to make her do something, and then she simply hanged on me!! Following my previous experiences and the last incident with the Capital One bank, I am ready to remove all my life savings from this bank and sue the company for its in practical terms criminal approach to me as a customer. We live in the 21 century and not in Robin Hood times! PS I also wrote a legal letter several months ago to the Capital One bank corporate offices, to timothy.erxleben@capitalone, and another one sent via a registered letter from Prague, and no answer in 6 months!!...I was informed today that so far the illegal charge of $400 has not been removed from my account!! Because it is impossible for me to communicate with Capital One bank either on line, my account is blocked, or on the phone, or with the bank corporate offices, I will have to use this review in legal proceedings as appropriate and necessary.

This bank absolutely has horrible customer service, but the worst is they stole 577.39 out of my account. I Literally Almost Died

Let me paint you a picture. You've got $500,000 in your account, making $100,000/month, loving life, but there's one problem. You're stuck overseas, have Malaria, and your bank won't let you access your account to buy medicine. Yep, that was me. Even though I told them I would be traveling, they blocked me from buying anything. I'd call them every single day for probably 3-4 weeks, and eventually I just gave up. Every single person told me they fixed the issue, and every single god damn day it didn't get fixed. Everything came to a HEAD when I was stuck with malaria and basically dying, couldn't go back to America, so I had to get medical care there... ...and despite calling them over and over again, I couldn't spend my cash. I literally almost died due to their completely moronic support, that always tells you the issue is fixed, but then it never gets effing fixed. Hell, this goes beyond support - they're just doing their job. The real problem is upper management not giving them the tools they need to help customers. I literally almost died thanks to you Capital One, so I hope this review deters anyone else from making the terrible mistake of banking with you. Here's just a few stupid things they've done, aside from almost killing me by blocking my cards. Randomly Shut My Account Down -Literally No Reason -Asked About Some Wire for $1k From Months Ago -I Literally Spend $50k/month on Biz Expenses -Told Them I Don't Know Where I Sent $1k Months Ago and Why the F Didn't They Ask Me Then Instead of Waiting -After 1 Hour of Wasted Time, They Restored My Account Refuse to Give Higher Limit -Earlier This Year, Made $175,000 in April -Was Blowing Through $30,000/month on my Credit Card -This is What They Told Me, Their Words -Said I Couldn't Get Higher Than $12k Limit -I Asked Why, That's Literally R*tarded, I'm Spending 3x That Much Each Month -Couldn't Answer, Blah Blah, You Can Only Request Increase Once Every 6 Months, Blah Blah -Told Them I Have Been, System Keeps Only Giving Me Like $1k Extra Each Time -Too Bad, Guess I'll Have to Wait 6 Effing Months for Another Measly $1-2k Credit Increase I could honestly go on and on, but I've wasted enough time writing this review. Do not bank with them. Trust the reviews here. When over 1,000 people tell you a company is garbage, they're probably right.

They don’t have your back when you need them

I have been a loyal customer for many years. I recently had a dispute for prepaid parking in the amount of $67.56. I had booked “self-park” with camera surveillance. Upon arriving at the given address, the gate was was closed and chained with a sign stating it was temporarily closed. I had, at the last minute, had to secure new parking arrangements. I have supplied capital one with pic of closed lot and new parking receipt. Parking company replies that I received product—so case closed. They give them back the $67.56. I’ve asked for proof of my parking from Cap One which can’t be provided. They are not interested in watching out for their customer’s best interest. Such a shame. Main reason many people use a credit card is that you feel you have some sort of protection for purchases, especially fraud

    Avoid Capital One

Everyone thinks Kanye West and Republicans are deranged conspiracy theorists until they aren’t. About 2 months ago, my wife and I had our credit cards shut off without warning. She was trying to place an order to our local Target when we realized something wasn’t right, and our cards had been shut down. The account online read “restricted” online and after speaking to many Capital One representatives and being given no actual reason besides “suspected fraud” which would lead me to wonder— did we share something on social media someone didn’t like, did we buy something they don’t want us to have, did we have a phone conversation someone overheard? Growing up America was always the picture of land of the free and capitalism, but now it seems we are punished for bettering ourselves. Each day and interaction is looking more like a communist country with power hungry entities. Each time we speak with a specialist at Capital One we are given the same script “we’re sorry we need to investigate and it will be 3-10 business days, we wish there was more we could do”. Unfortunately this has gone on for 2 months. So far, that’s 2 months of bouncing payments, gas my family of 5 can’t put in their car, groceries we can’t order. We don’t realize how much we use a credit card until we don’t have one. For 2 months we were told they were investigating “fraud” and every time we have explained that it is definitely our transactions to approve it so we can move on. While I do understand it’s not the person on the lines fault and sure they catch the flack for it, but one rep did cut the cards back on for a whopping 20 minutes only for them to be cut off again because “she wasn’t authorized to do that”. If it takes a credit card company 2+ months to investigate fraud, I’m afraid they may have hired the wrong person for the job. Capital One has sincerely angered a very loyal customer who never carried a balance (maybe that was the problem), always pays on time and never caused a stink. I brought up Ye to end with this— if they can do this to the working Blue Collar and Celebrities alike it makes you wonder for what else is in store.

Capital One "just works" and better than most banks

Years ago, I needed a cryptocurrency-friendly bank to help me move a lot of money, back when most banks were effectively against cryptocurrencies and considered you a criminal if you touched them (e.g., Chase). I opened an account with them, sold a lot of cryptocurrencies, and wired them from the exchange to my Capital One account. Capital One had no problems with this, only calling me once to verify the source of funds as part of KYC/AML policies and federal laws. That conversation lasted 5 minutes, and I never needed to do that again. I travel internationally quite often, and the credit card I use (QuickSilver) works flawlessly with few issues. I do not need to call Capital One to tell them I am traveling. The few times that I've had to talk to customer service have been efficient and the agents friendly. One time my card got locked because I accidentally "butt dialed" buttons in their app to report my card as stolen when it was not. I discovered this when I had to pay for parking, and my card was declined. A quick call to Capital One got it sorted out by re-activating my card. I'm not a shill for Capital One, but the overwhelmingly negative reviews on this site are unfair, and I feel an obligation to provide my experience, which has been positive. I am sure Capital One has issues that people are rightfully unhappy about, but as someone who has used many banks over the years, they deserve more praise than disdain. Capital One "just works," and I can tell they have many young tech workers on the backend making it better. I've used well-known banks and credit unions in the past that rely on old and dying infrastructure that often fails when you need them the most. For example, I can verify suspicious-looking transactions in the app or via SMS at the checkout counter. Other banks I've used are unreliable in this regard by delaying the SMS verification several hours, providing no notification in their mobile app, or requiring me to call them during business hours (???). All of this is a significant inconvenience when in line or stuck at a gas station with an empty tank, unable to pump gas after working late.

    Their consumer support SUCKS.

Capital One credit card customer service and frauds and disputes department have the most STUPIDEST people on the planet. They can't do anything right. It doesn't matter WHERE they come from. Just the stupidest people in the world. I closed both accounts with them because I had had enough. It's not even worth owning a credit card with them or really anywhere else for that matter, these days. They're all no good anymore. They have uneducated people working there and they can't fix a dispute, or fix a mistake. It's just better NOT to use any credit cards. Only use them if it is absolutely necessary, like for a root canal or to pay water and sewer bills. Otherwise, it's not safe anymore to use them. If you get defrauded, you're on your own. They don't even close your card and give you a new one. If you get robbed by a seller online, you're screwed. You will lose your money and the bad seller WINS, EVEN IF YOU SENT THE ITEM BACK. Just stay away from them. Buy gift cards. It's the safest way, and then keep your credit card locked after you get whatever it is. You're on your own. Customer support is useless and they are beyond uneducated. You're better off using JUST CASH, or gift cards and not carry your credit cards around with you.

Merchant admits fault and CO does nothing about it!

I disputed a charge that I made from Knotless Kay(BEWARE!) due to not receiving the goods paid for. I purchased an item that came as a set of 2(2 different items, 1 Silk and 1 Rubber). When I received my package, I opened it and my order was wrong! I received 2 Silk items, instead of 1 each. Mind you, I ordered the set because I needed 1 of each. Not 2 of the same thing! I would have purchased the silk item separately(as 1 item) and paid half the price if all I wanted was the silk item! I emailed customer service at the merchant and they responded and said that they will be shipping me the correct item that I paid for. Weeks went by and I did not receive any tracking info. or update. I emailed cs again and they did not respond. Another week or so went by and I emailed again. Again, no response. So I emailed yet again a week or so later and informed them that if I did not get an update/tracking info. that I would be disputing the charge with my bank. Well, after no response, that is exactly what I did! Now, seeing as though I have been a loyal customer with Capital One, from Auto Loans to multiple CURRENT Credit Cards and even a Checking Acct with Direct Deposit, I thought that they would have my back with this dispute. But no! I provided all of the email correspondences between me and the merchant. The emails showing the merchant admitting fault for sending incorrect item and promising a reship of the correct item. The emails showing that I asked multiple times if they wanted the incorrect item back and where I should ship it back to. The emails showing no response for weeks on end. Capital One said that the merchant responded to them stating that they took care of the issue by shipping out the correct item. So I emailed them afterwards asking for the tracking info. How about they provided me THE SAME EXACT tracking number from the original shipment!!!! They literally said that they were not able to get a new label and had to reprint the original label to ship the correct item to me. This is the most ridiculous and untruthful thing I have ever heard from a merchant! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that that is not at all possible to do with shipping labels. The original tracking number did not show any updates on the new shipment that supposedly took place(BECASUE IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!!) The rep at the dispute center even said that that was not possible, but he was not able to do anything about it because the dispute was handled by Visa(supposedly). So after providing all of the back and forth emails and photos of what I order vs. what I received, Capital One still Denied my dispute. So, I ended up with the s*itty end of the stick. I paid for something I did not order/want and never received the correct item til this day! Its been over 3 months and nothing has been done to assist me with receiving the correct item or even a PARTIAL refund. Capital One has lost a loyal customer of over 8 years all because they want to support an untruthful small business that may not even be around for the following years to come! OVER $68!!!! I'm not the one to mess with when it comes to my money! I will get my pay back and the last laugh! YOUR LOSS!!!!

I am retired and my husband has the W-2 I can't get a Cap One card

I feel like I am my mother who tried to get a credit card when she had divorced my father in 1979 and couldn't because he was the primary on all of their joint credit cards, so she had no history. Because of that, since I was 22, I applied as primary for all of my and my husband's joint credit cards. I have an excellent credit rating, which Capital One checked, btw. But, Capital One will not give me an REI card because my husband is the one with the w-2, and we have all of our money in a joint trust and do a joint return. I just wanted an REI card to use at REI, so I don't need a huge amount of credit to use on the card. I called Capital One to understand what was missing on my application, after I had uploaded my joint 1040 (one of the things they require to show income) and the customer service agent could not explain and wouldn't transfer me to someone who would, whether it was our joint 1040 (I do the IRS tax returns in our family) that would not work as they mention that as a possibility in their mailed letter, or if since I only included page one of the 1040 (which is the page with the AGI, and not the second page that has the taxes paid and my bank account on it that I didn't want to share with them that does not show income which is what they wanted. The agent knew less than I did from reading the letter, and I had to read it to her, she could not help, and would not ask anyone thought a nicely asked her to. So all I can assume is that since all of my money is jointly owned, and they won't use joint income, and since I don't work out of home, am retired, oops, sorry, I don't have a W-2 to share, and therefore I can't get an REI card. I guess it is the 1950's. My husband has to apply. Wow. I am definitely never using Capital One ever again. (Sorry for the sarcasm but I am reading a book that takes place in the 1950's and 60's so am incredulous by Capital One's approach to retired and stay at home mom's and dad's.)

    Frustrated Loyal Credit Card Holder…

I have been a loyal credit card holder for YEARS!!. The one and only time I asked for a skip a month payment due to financial difficulties, the answer was “we can not help due to your financial difficulties but we can put you on a program to allow you to…..” SMH I did not ask for a Program, I asked for an understanding just one time due to my financial difficulties. Never any help for people that are trying to survive….

    DO NOT use this company

Horrible business. After opening an account, they froze access to my money, still no access to my money after 6 weeks. I have not received a debit card nor an account number. It took me two days ro reach customer service, who then asked me to verify my identity, fine. I sent in the photos of my government ID, the same I used to open my account, it was denied. I am still trying to resolve the issue, and have no access to my money. The representatives just shuffle me around and put me on hold. I will file a claim with the BBB who can hopefully help me to fight these criminals. DO NOT bank with Capital One.

$80 late fees for paying in a different time zone.

I made a payment to both my credit cards with capital one at 6:04pm (I always pay $100-$200, never the minimum amount) and because I’m in California and their cut off time is 8:00pm, I got charged $80 in late fees. I called and explained it’s still technically November 2nd, and literally only 4 mins past the due time in their time zone, and they said there’s nothing they can do. I’ll be paying these off and canceling them as soon as I can.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CAPITAL ONE. In business to gouge its customer base.Worst credit card company I have ever…

Worst credit card company I have ever dealt with. I had two Capital One (C1) credit cards, and had been a customer since 2017. My credit is excellent (E-754, T-756), as was my payment history. Today (11/2/22) I closed both of my accounts because I am extremely dissatisfied with C1's abhorrent excuse for what they call customer service. I customarily pay my full balance on credit cards to avoid interest charges. Every other credit card I own either gives customers until midnight on the due date or, if the cutoff is earlier, the interest charges are AUTOMATICALLY reversed. That is NOT the case with Capital One. Last month, on top of my automatic minimum payment, I paid the remaining $890.00 balance on the due date. However, C1 has an 8pm ET cutoff for payment, giving west-coast customer's a shorter window to make payments. When the system advised that my payment was considered late, I called C1 to make sure the interest charges would be reversed. After an hour on the phone, I was transferred to a supervisor. He advised me that C1 realizes their current policy is unfair to customers on the west coast and that, due to customer complaints, a policy change is planned for the near future. He also informed me that I had a pretty good chance of having the charges reversed because of my account standing and the fact that the minimum due was paid before the cut-off, and only my additional payment was submitted afterward. However, nothing could be done until and if the charges appeared on my next statement. I called back today and another supervisor informed that, regardless of having been with them for 5+ years, and in spite of the policy change in the near future, they would not reverse the interest charges. When I asked to escalate my complaint, he said I would have to do that via snail-mail. Isn't THAT convenient for C1? This company is NOT customer-centered. They encourage customers to alleviate the company's call volume (overhead expenses) by making payments and profile changes online. They also reduce overhead costs by posting online statements for "customers' convenience." However, they have a convenient policy to deter customer escalations by not having an online process or even an email address for filing customer complaints. I refuse to line the pockets of Capital One and its company-centered "customer service" when they penalize west coast customers with a shorter time window for payments. Chase, Discover, and Amex don't treat their customers that way, which is why C1 no longer has my business and their competition does.

Cap One used to be good. Now, not so much.

Capital One used to be my go-to for a credit card and a savings, but in the last year their customer service has massively gone downhill. I don’t intend to keep my Quicksilver, and I’m in the process of moving savings. The last straw for me was when I requested a limit increase to put an upcoming travel charge on my card and got rejected, then told I just needed to reapply and that nobody in any department could review the application (I’m a customer of several years with CS over 750 and consistent payment history, early and in full every time). The rep then began to give me attitude about how credit works. I work in finance and explained he must have misunderstood American credit, which happens (our US credit system is objectively insane) so no judgment, but to please get me to a supervisor I could discuss this with for review. He continued to give me attitude instead so I hung up. Now they’re spamming my email with auto loan offers and other credit card offers. It seems like greed must have made Cap One’s upper management blind to long-term consequences, since I’m sure I’m not the only customer having this experience, and the only reasonable root for that is deficiency in executive-level decision-making.

I never had a late payment, and just with not reason because they think there was a fraud because of I pay something on Amazon they just closed it. That’s is stupid and I will never apply to any of the card on these bank

    What a terribly run business

What a terribly run business - do we have NO oversight at all as to how these companies treat people? I requested my statements for 2021 be emailed to me which they informed me they "aren't set up for email." Promptly after, they asked if they could email me an acknowledgement form. Is this a joke? How is this company allowed to remain in business when they abuse their customers? I was sent to FOUR different agents, to no avail. What an absolutely dismal company. Pathetic.

Capital One has the worst customer service. Every time I call, the rep has an attitude. They leave the call to go do what they want and don't come back to the line. They can not do simple tasks like sending out a card to an alternate address for a child authorized user. The reps are rude and unprofessional. I will never call them again and are basically there to upset the customer and to waste the time of the customer. Lucy had a horrible rude attitude with me!!!!

    Fraud protection is a joke

I reported a charge that was not mine. After speaking with customer service to dispute the charge and answered all their questions. I was told with 0 fraud protection. The fraudulent charge would be credited back to my account. Several days later. I get 2 letters from capital one. One letter reads there investigation found no evidence of fraud. I would be responsible for the charge. The other letter stated the fraudulent charge would be handled. Confused, I called capital one to find out, which letter should I go with. After being transferred numerous times to different people and about an hour on the phone. I'm now told the charge stands and now I'm responsible for the charge. They were also unable to provide any receipt or transaction number, since they don't show one in their system. But I'm still responsible for a charge I didn't make. So much for 0 fraud protection. They obviously don't honor fraud protection or care about their customers. If I could give 0 stars I would. Time to find another more honest company and move on. Shame on you capital one.

Screw the environment! CapitalOne trying to increase their carbon footprint rather than reduce it

It is refreshing, in this current day, to see a company standing up for their beliefs and not giving a toss what society or humanity thinks. Unfortunately, their beliefs are for destroying the environment, and trying so hard to increase their carbon footprint rather than reduce it - hey, screw the environment and the future of the planet...that's not Capital One's problem, no profits in that! Absolutely relentless direct mail/snail mail, two or three letters a week sometimes, all saying exactly the same thing. I have asked for email updates and statements, but apparently they don't do that yet - after all it is only the 21st Century. Anyway, who doesn't want hotter summers...365 days of the year! And no one cares about the North or South Pole. It's no good for holidays or our second holiday villa anyway, and penguins and polar bears are just pointless.

Capital One will significantly lower your limit for NO REASON

My experience with Capital One has been horrible. I had two cards each at a 20k limit. Without notifying me Capital One decided to lower them to 5k. This wiped out 30k from my credit utilization, which had a severe negative impact on my credit score. When I asked for my credit limit to be increased to where it was, Captial One used my credit score, which they were responsible for dropping against me as a reason they could not approve my request. It would be funny if it wasn't so dishonest and ignorant.

If I could leave a zero out of five

If I could leave a zero out of five, I would. I started with their student card 5 years ago and upgraded to the quicksilver earlier this year. The company doesn't have good customer service and I closed my account because I cannot count on them to have my back when I need to dispute a charge. This has happened twice since being with them. Both times I supplied concrete evidence for my case, and without notice, they denied my claim by just taking the money back. No letter in the mail explaining why it was declined nothing. I only noticed this by looking at my statements, thus costing me $150. On top of that, I used 150$ worth of the points I had accumulated on a purchase before closing the account. They released the money to cover the purchase then decided to back tack and decline the purchase a week after the order was placed (this was an amazon order). Thus delaying my items from arriving and in the end screwing up my order even after I updated the payment method, the package was undeliverable. So I lost out on my $150 worth of points. I paid my balance off in full, or what I thought was full(before closing the account), but they decide to also charge me an interest rate after I closed the account and I owe them more money. Horrible company, when it comes to customer service and customer satisfaction. They aren't the way to go if you're looking for a credit card and I'll never use anything else through them because I cant trust them.

I got a CD at Capital One because they advertised 3.25 percent fixed interest rate for one year. I applied online and got everything submitted and got an account number with the 3.25 percent interest rate. For several weeks I checked my account and made sure it was 3.25%. Then earlier this week I looked and it had changed to 2.75%. I immediately called them and told them this was a fixed 3.25% rate for a year. They then proceeded to tell me I was 1 day late in getting that rate. I know for certain that it was 3.25%, but they changed it. I did not print the main page that said the rate originally. Does anyone know how I can get back to that page to print the original document?
