Overview

The Aspiration Zero credit card was designed to help consumers cut their carbon footprint. With this card, every purchase you make results in a tree being planted to offset your carbon emissions. You can also round up your purchases to the nearest dollar to plant a second tree.

When you get to 60 trees planted in a month - which is either 60 transactions or 30 rounded-up transactions - you’ve gone carbon-neutral according to Aspiration’s calculations. As a reward, the company will give you 1% cash back on all your purchases for that month. You can track how many trees you’ve planted each month through the Aspiration mobile app.

Suitable for?

The Aspiration Zero credit card is most suitable for consumers who want to reduce their environmental impact. Planting a tree or two with every purchase helps to offset your carbon footprint. In addition, Aspiration’s mobile app scores merchants based on their social impact and eco-friendliness, so you can focus your spending at stores that match your values.

The downside to the Aspiration Zero card is that its rewards program doesn’t provide as much cash back as traditional cash back credit cards. You only receive 0.5% cash back on eligible purchases until at least 60 trees are planted within a month, and even then you’re limited to 1% back. In addition, the Aspiration Zero credit card has a $60 annual fee. So this credit card is most suitable for those who prioritize sustainability over cashback rewards.

I was concerned because I ordered a new debit card and hadn't received it after the arrival date that was provided. As soon as I sent a email letting them know that I hadn't received it yet they immediately sent a new one. Then I received a email letting me know what was being done with the matter. DON’T RELY ON ASPIRATION CARD IN GUATEMALA!
Unfortunately, I was relying on my Aspiration card this past week in Guatemala. Not a single ATM accepted my Aspiration card. I ended up having to use a card from a different bank and spent over $50. in fees. Fortunately, I had enough in the other bank. DON’T RELY ON ASPIRATION IN GUATEMALA!!! In response to your reply, I changed my password before I left home and again in Guatemala, just to rule out that issue.

I had a Google hold on my card. The 800# to call was kind of busy and gave the option to call me back at the same order I called which I love first of all. Doesn't have your back on fraud charges
I had a fraudulent charge of 139.14, the company that charged me supplied "evidence" of my order. Except that the evidence showed I bought a 99 cent sticker, with zero justification for the full charge. No one at aspiration can explain to me how they came to their decision, and apparently you can't actually talk to anyone in the fraud department. I have been trying to get this resolved for 3 months. Edit: I have resubmitted this charge for review 4 times. They have never given me an answer as to how they justified the charge given the evidence.

Dispute process extended after proof
A little over 3 weeks ago, I filed a dispute (with intent of chargeback) because I could not access funds that were deposited into an online account as my account was suspended. I was asked to provide documentation, which I did. The merchant then also provided documentation, but in said documentation the merchant showed that the transactions were not made me, and were made in a different state completely. I pointed this out to their dispute manager, and was thanked for pointing it out. This was over a week ago. So this Monday (May 1st) I filed complains with FDIC, FINRA, and FRCH because there is no way that a dispute where the merchant proved the customers’ innocence should still be open. I emailed them this information, and informed them of the complaints on the same Monday I filed them. They have not even responded, let alone issue my money back or temporary credits in the meantime. These charges were unauthorized and fall under Regulation E which grants 10 business days for a decision before issuing credits in an extended investigation. I have not received those, and it has been well over the alotted time. I will continue to file reports until this is properly handled, next is the SEC as I have read through the agreement between Aspirtaion and Coastal Community, which states that they fall under these regulations when handling disputes. EDIT: Just in reply to their response, I was in contact with them for 2 weeks before they became irresponsive and I filed complaints.

Just appalling service. You end up getting bounced around from one person to another, only to have them try to send you back to the first department, who wants you to go back (again) to the department that sent you back to them. Very limited options in the web portal for managing your account - if you need to do anything beyond the most basic tasks, expect to have to call their horrendous phone bank support system. I'm frankly glad to see that their credit card offering has failed and is being discontinued, since they have not come close to being deserving of credit card customers or anyone else for that matter. It's completely obvious that they have been running this whole scheme on a shoestring to the detriment of anyone who was ever foolish enough to sign up.

DONT DO IT. I thought it was a good idea but when I came into fraudulent charges on my account they are NOT HELPFUL. They throw shade at Chase bank for whatever they feel, yet chase doesn’t mind giving me my money back when a charge is unauthorized. I disputed charges back in December and did not hear back. I called again concerned about more charges and they refuse to help in any way. No new card. No new account. No money back. The customer service pretends they’re helping in actuality they’re lying. This is an important feature to banking. I need to know my money is secure and it just was not and is not. Upon calling again the woman I spoke to was rude, I attempted to help her understand the reason for my call as I was being charged multiple times in a month for an unauthorized charge. Customer service just tells you that you did make the charge and maybe you just don’t remember. ABSOLUTELY NOT.. At least do an investigation, but no they would rather argue with you than help you. Ridiculous.

Overall, this company is amazing. I haven't been working much and I appreciate the ability to not pay monthly while I'm struggling. Once I'm on my feet again, will go back to paying for it and planting trees with my change. They're an amazing company overall and I'm happy that helping to affect the world is made so easy with them. Their customer service team is top notch. I do wish the list of banned merchants was customizable though, as I do a lot of stuff with aliexpress. Still overall happy though.

Application denied due to website verification error
I applied for an account with Aspiration and experienced a problem with the verification code that was being sent to my phone as part of the application process. The code would be sent to my phone, and then when I would enter the code for verficiation, I'd immediately receive an error message saying "Uh-oh! The verification code has expired". I attempted entering the verification code three times before clicking on the link to contact support. Unfortunately, the email opened up in the same page that I was completing the application. As a result, I was never able to complete the application, and upon returning to the Aspiration website I found a message saying that my application was not approved, with no further information or next steps provided. I called Aspiration customer support this morning, and Lindsey, the customer representative, was very helpful. She listened to my problem, checked in the system to see if there was any information available, but found that there had been no reason inputted as to why my application wasn't approved. She let me know that she'd reach out to their technicians and send me an email later letting me know if they had any other information. I received the email update this afternoon, and it reads: "I did hear back from our onboarding team and they advised your application was rejected yesterday. I apologize for any confusion and inconvenience that has been caused. You should receive a separate email confirmation within 2 business days to notify you of this as well. "We are unfortunately not able to share any specific information as to why an application may not have been approved, for the privacy and security of our customers. "Reapplying is unfortunately not an option at this time, but if that restriction changes in the future, we'll be sure to reach out." I then attempted to log in to my Aspiration account to see if I could find any further information, but encountered the following error message instead: "Your account is currently locked due to security concerns. To unlock, please respond to the recent email from the Aspiration team." I replied to Aspiration support letting them know how frustrating this whole situation has been, and trying to get some sort of information regarding why the verification process wasn't working, why my application was denied, and why my account is now locked. As of yet, I have not received any response. I was really looking forward to switching to Aspiration as I will be starting with a new employer in the next few months. I think I might just need to look at other options instead. Very disappointed in the way Aspiration has handled this situation.
