What’s Covered? 

Depending on the specific plan you go for, ASPCA’s pet insurance will cover the cost of a variety of treatments for your furry friends. If you go for the highest level of coverage offered by this provider, costs relating to accidents, illnesses, and behavioral problems will be covered.

ASPCA even pays out for alternative therapies and congenital condition-related costs. What’s more, if you select the right add-on to your plan, the company will also cover preventative care services.

Insurance Plans & Pricing

ASPCA’s pricing system is relatively straightforward. There are two basic plans to choose from as well as a handful of preventative care add-on packages. Whichever one you opt for, it’ll cost less if you pay upfront for a year because ASPCA adds on a $2 transaction fee to monthly bills.

Accident-Only

The cheapest ASPCA plan is the Accident-Only Coverage package. Depending on your pet’s characteristics, like breed and age, and the deductible, coverage limit, and reimbursement levels you select, this plan could cost as little as $14 per month.

Complete Coverage

Customers looking for additional peace of mind might want to select ASPCA’s Complete Coverage package. Besides accidents, the Complete Coverage plan will pay out for costs incurred due to illness, behavioral issues, and more.

If needed to treat a covered condition, the Complete Coverage package can even be used to pay for prescription foods and supplements. ASPCA quoted us $26.97 per month to cover our three-year-old medium-sized mutt, with a low coverage limit and a $500 deductible, under the Complete Coverage plan.

Preventative Care

For $9.95 per month, you can add ASPCA’s Basic Preventative Care package to your Accident-Only or Complete Coverage plan. Doing so will get you a total of $250 worth of annual benefits to go towards things such as a rabies vaccine, deworming, and wellness exams.

Also available is a $24.95 per month Prime Preventative Care plan which bumps your benefits up to $450 annually and adds coverage for flea prevention treatments and blood tests.

What's Not Covered

Even with ASPCA’s Complete Coverage subscription, some costs won’t be covered. Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, and breeding costs are all excluded from this provider’s plans.

Waiting Periods

Once you start an ASPCA subscription, you’ll have to wait at least 14 days before the policy kicks in and your costs begin to be covered by the service. Claims and reimbursements are processed by ASPCA in 30 days or less.

Coverage Limits

When configuring your plan, you’ll need to choose a coverage limit between $3,000 and $10,000. This is an annual cap that gets reset on the anniversary of your subscription.

Reimbursement and Deductibles

ASPCA reimburses 70% to 90% of costs for covered treatments and deductibles of $100, $250, and $500 are on offer. For example, if you were to opt for a $250 deductible with an 80% reimbursement rate, and then incurred $1,000 of treatment costs in the first year of your plan, you’d end up being paid back $600.

Claims and Service

All you have to do to submit a claim with ASPCA is log in through the company’s mobile app, write a summary detailing your expenses, and attach a picture of your invoice.

    I signed up for an insurance plan online and called the following day because I had some coverage questions. I was on hold and left my number for a call back as instructed. because the message said they have high call volume. I never got a call back. The next day I emailed them to ask for a call and still haven't heard back. I also sat on hold for 45 minutes the following day and never got through. This is not making me feel like this company will be very supportive if I actually need a claim in the future.

    I am sure the insurance itself is a good one, as I have never even had the chance to use it once I applied for it. However, I am not happy with the customer service aspect of your company as I cancelled my claim on August 30, 2021, and found that money had been REMOVED from my September 3, 2021 paycheck AFTER the cancellation of my policies. ASPCA owes me $178.92 for claims that had been cancelled and took the money out of my new month check without permission.

    Claims handled with complete professionalism

    We have paid for pet insurance for both of our dogs for a few years. We recently actually had to use it on one of our pets a couple of times in a matter of a week and was not looking forward to submitting the claims to ASPCA for a refund as there are stories of other companies denying claims and not paying. This couldn't be more inaccurate for ASPCA, I submitted the claims and within 2 days had the refunds deposited into my checking account.     I have nt yet the need to use any of the policy coverage..Hopefully when i do submit my wellness claim s they ll be expedited quickly for reimbursement..as for the full coverage for medical care..i hope i never have to use it..but, it peace of mind considering the high cost of pet medical bills..

    I gave an average review due to the fact that I have not used the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance for my Cat yet, the review came a bit too fast as they have a waiting period of 2 weeks, after purchase of the policy to use it. Once the Insurance has been used and the claim is completed would be much better to ask about how everything went. Its just common sense. My hope is that the review will be favorable,

    I was unaware of the 14 day waiting period for this pet insurance. The waiting period needs to be made extremely clear when registering online. Because of it, my dog had a medical emergency that was not covered. I was absolutely outraged and cancelled the insurance immediately. Thankfully, I want given a refund on my initial payment.
