Honest & True to its word = BMO
It is nice and refreshing, specially nowadays, when a financial institution keeps true to its word. BMO’s management demonstrated that to me just a few minutes ago when a supervisor reversed a fee that was charged to me 5 months ago. Back then, I called to ask about the fee, and I had been told it would be reversed but it wasn’t. At this point I wasn’t concerned much about the fee $, but the principal. If you are looking for a financial institution that is willing to be honest and true to its word, BMO is the answer. Also, I have been blessed to have been helped by nice, understanding, and Knowledgeble people every time I have a concern. It seems to be their nature to be kind and honest.

Worst bank in the world. Bad service, disconnects, just horrible, PLEASE GO BANKRUPT and do the world justice. You are about to be sued, align with canadas decision... you can't even share info its illegal.

BMO doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating!!!
This is honestly the worst bank I have ever applied for. I completely regret applying to this bank. The only reason I wanted this bank was to apply for a CD because of the high interest rates. First, I tried to applied for the CD but it said I didn't have any records. In all my years of banking and applying for credit cards, I was never told this by a bank. So I decided to put my spouse as the holder of the CD. I was able to do that. When I got the CD under my spouse's name, I wanted to put my child as a beneficiary. BMO says it's an online bank but it's not. You can't do anything online!!! I have to call the phone number they provide. I call the number and the representative sets up the beneficiary and tells me that I have to wait 30 days for the beneficiary to get set up. 30 DAYS!!! I asked if I would get any documentation but the rep says I can only see on my online bank. I still don't know if the beneficiary is set up or not. Then, I wanted to put myself as a joint owner along with my spouse but I can't do that online either! I call the number to set myself up as a joint owner, and I'm told that the representative can't do that. The rep transfers me to her supervisor and the supervisor tells me she can set me up as a joint account owner. Unfortunately, I got disconnected and I didn't get her name or phone number to call back. I call BMO again and a rep from the PHILIPPINES tells me to go to the nearest BMO branch to be set up as a joint owner. I would've gladly gone to the nearest BMO branch except the nearest branch is over 100 MILES away from me. The representative can hardly speak understandable English and doesn't know what America looks like or know where we live. Eventually, I'm set up as another beneficiary. I spend a week, making calls to BMO to get the same response. "gO To yOur nEAreST bRanCH WhICh iS oVEr 100 miLeS fRoM WhErE yOu LiVe aND thEn yoU CaN bE SeT uP aS a JoInT oWneR". Finally, I get transferred to a rep. He tells me that he'll get it set up and he'll call back. They will never call you back. It's a joke. I call back one more time, telling myself this will be the last call to BMO. A representative finally sets me up as a joint owner. I have never had any experience with a bank as bad as BMO. Save yourself the misery and don't apply for this bank.

Stay Away!!!
My experience with BMO and my vehicle loan was nothing but negative. So they give you this huge payment booklet… for your entire loan term. They make you write a check and mail in that check along with the paper payment stub from the booklet every month. 72 months x .50c stamp = $36! This is so 90’s it’s laughable. I can pay for something online (literally every other bill I have) in two seconds and get a receipt. Auto pay is even better and most of my bills are on autopay. BMO charges for an online payment. What? How is paying online harder than collecting ??idk how many checks every month and having someone open every envelope by hand and deposit the checks. I have never received a payment confirmation or receipt from BMO Harris. The irony: There have been several months (about seven) where my mailed payment was no where to be found. “Oh, it probably got lost in the mail?”, “did you forget to send it in?”. I am convinced the company had misplaced the checks. More money for stamps to send another payment in… I’ve had to beg the employees to reverse my late fee and prevent anything from ruining my credit. This shouldn’t happen more than a couple of times. I haven’t had as many issues getting my mail to anyone besides BMO Harris. My loan ends in June (about 15 days from now). I am so happy!!!

Terrible, terrible, terrible!
I applied for a loan and was asked about my heat bill....they don't even count utilities. I was just denied a credit card with a 773 credit score! I have been on the phone trying to contact someone about this because the reason the gave was: Unable to Verify Identity. I have been transferred 10 times and I am still not at the right department! I'm still on hold! I have been on the phone 15 minutes!

Stay away! This bank has shady practices!
If I could give negative numbers for reviews I would. This bank has cut my card off and left me stranded many times. It has “updated my pin” without telling me and left me unable to pay in crucial situations. This bank always has underpaid employees that give me some of the worst service I’ve ever had in return. This bank has THE WORST customer support system that one could ever have the displease of experiencing. It wouldn’t be enough for this bank to just go under tomorrow, because they would still owe all the time, money, energy, and opportunity they’ve sucked out of their “customers”/suckers. If you made it this far, please, please leave as many bad reviews as you can until everyone knows what kind of animals they’re banking with.

bmo is not a bank you want
2 days in a row i can not log in day one it had me change my password i did got in then today i tried to log in could not talked to 2 people got it had to use a net pass word again got in she said to stay in the site for a few i did tried to log back in and again could called back again the 4 time today lady was rude and she started to tell me about the bank of the west that they just got i told her i can see that from the bottom of my screen she then said that she don't have to tell me that but i was getting kinda pissed since she was being rude she then told me to try to get in latter or the next day so that makes 2 hours of talking to 4 people and i am getting no place with them

They blocked my card and that of the…
They blocked my card and that of the authorized user (husband). No notice was given as to why. My husband tried using his credit card, but it was declined, and it was really embarrassing for him. When called to see what was going on, no reason was given but they certainly asked me get my ID notarized and send a copy of my ID and the notarized letter to them, I said WHAT? Why asks for a notarized ID not to mention,,, why in the world would I waste my time and resources $$ on finding and then paying someone to get my ID notarized to send it to them? They could have asked just for a copy of my ID. I'm from the US and no bank would ask you for a notarized ID to be sent to them. Never heard of it. The best part is that when I told the agent to close the account, she told me that I need to send them a letter requesting to be closed :)))) Again, in the US, never had a problem asking a cc company to close my account over the phone. Seems like a toxic passive-aggressive bank which makes it a hassle for customer to be dealing with them. I'm going to pay off my balance now and throw away the credit card, let them close it themselves in a few years. Not worth the time when they don't even bother to warn you that they blocked the card to save you the embarrassment of spending it.

FALSE ADVERTISING! For the Savings Builder account, they promise to give you $5 if you add $200 per month to the account. THAT IS A LIE! They cheat you your bonus if you make any withdrawal, even if the amount at the end of the month is still $200 more than the end of the last month. Horrible business practice!

WOKEST bank out there SHEEP stay away baaaaaaaa
My family has had many accounts at this bank in Dodgeville, Wisconsin throughout generations but I think we will be pulling our accounts soon. They completely messed up our interest earned on our accounts. Math is not their specialty. Funny being that they are in the numbers game. Funny probably isn't the right word, ironic is better. When emails are sent they are not responded too. Much of the top employees are a bunch of hard left leaning woke liberals. Terry Edward's left and we couldn't be happier. A new guy named Bill came and took Terry's place. Bill was amazing. We thought Terry was OK until he showed his true colors on social media for the whole world to see. His ideals are much like the woke liberal teachers in this town. Once Terry left we felt we could stick it out with the new guy. Bill was so friendly, down to earth, helpful, realistic. He walked us through different options and accounts we could make some money on. Terry never did anything like that. He acted like that was below his pay grade. Bill was so nice to our daughters. One was thinking about pursuing work in the banking field. Bill spent time with her and answered questions about a possible career. One day I went in to ask Bill a question and he wasn't there. He wasn't there not just because he went to lunch or he was sick. No, he was gone, completely gone. We were heartbroken. People like to gossip in this town plus we know a couple of people who work in the bank. BMO didn't like the fact that Bill was a Christian and a Conservative. He liked Donald Trump along with 81 million other people. Other employees, woke employees, didn't like Bill and what he stood for. He stood for life, God and country. He was always strictly business with us and others. But they had to come up with some excuse to get rid of him so they can go ahead with their plans to ban Capitolism to bring about Communism. BMO participates in global solutions for banking, centralized one world govt and currency. Bring back Bill, keep Terry gone, and maybe we will stay. Just maybe.

Bad customer service in Sarasota, FL
Head, Retail Markets in Tampa has NO customer service skills and is not good to BMO customers. I will be withdrawing my money at maturity in 2 months and will NEVER bank there again.

I have never been more dissatisfied…
I have never been more dissatisfied with a bank. CONSTANT blocks, holds, declines and very slow deposit times have made me miserable banking with them. I have to call just about every week to get them to remove some overprotective block they’ve put on my account. I have missed payments and deadlines because of their paranoid incompetence. Run, do not walk, to another bank!!!

Acct frozen, berated, accused of fraud..
Opened a account online with a small transfer deposit. Went into the bank, it’s full identification, debit card made a small withdrawal and a few online purchases, no problem. 2 weeks later, went into a branch, deposited a check. Got a phone call roughly 10 hrs later accusing me of bank fraud. Account was completely frozen, 2 days before Christmas. Not just the check that the individual accused me of possibly acquiring fraudulently. But, the funds that were in the account for weeks. The person on the call then proceeded to inform me that BMO Harris pays him very well to stop people like me from theft and that he doesn’t care what time of the year it is. He will not allow me to steal thousands of dollars. Wow. I understand the need for banks to protect themselves. But, is it necessary to be disrespectful and demeaning?

WE'RE UNABLE TO AUTHENTICATE YOU......
I promise you'll regret your dealings with this Bank from the very first conversation and it goes downhill from there. I was pretty sure that my experience with them just have been an anomaly then I started checking into the reviews and words can't authenticate repeatedly It was char it's no anomaly that's how they do business. Read the very first review its spot on! They can't identify you no matter what and they will lock you out of your account. While you're locked out if you're like me you'll get two or three additional offers from them in the mail to open another credit card account pre-approved just sign here. Ridiculous! After spending an hour on hold they transfer me to the fraud department there is 2 hours on hold I don't get through so I called back the next day and when they transfer me I asked them hey how about this just tell them to call me when they are able that way I don't have to hold for 2 hours no they can't do that. So I'm waiting 2 hours for a guy to "authenticate" who doesn't even know how to make a phone call? Adding to the ridiculousness while you're on hold waiting you'll hear it repeatedly how they use voice identification technology to verify your identity. So on one of the few times I got through after waiting on hold for them to authenticate me I asked them that why don't you use your voice identification system to authenticate me and they've (this is the fraud department?) never heard of it. Here's another good one after waiting when they finally answer in the fraud department they'll ask you how can I help you? Really??? I thought I was holding for the authenticator? Another time actually a couple times when I've called they told me the only way they could authenticate me is I would have to come into a branch and they can physically examine my ID. The nearest branch is over 3,000 miles away! And here's the real killer-my hotel room got broken into and they stole my credit card so I called to report it and me I have to authenticate myself first but I can't even though I have all the right information so I say okay well that's fine I don't need a new card that can we just stop this card so that someone else doesn't charge it up? Well no they can't do that because we can't authenticate me. But aren't you supposed to report lost or stolen credit card immediately to the fraud department? I think when the guy in the fraud department answers and says how can I help you I really think it's because they don't know what they're there for either. And before you even get to the fraud department you'll go through three other transfers in all three of them will ask you your name address phone number last four of your social security number before they transfer you to the next person that will ask you the same questions. It's no wonder it's ours on hold before you can speak to someone. Save yourself a major headache these guys are just way too paranoid.

I'm a new on-line BMO savings customer
I'm a new on-line BMO savings customer. I was locked out several times because "they couldn't identify me." Three customer service reps said I'd have to go to a branch to identify myself. Unfortunately, there isn't a branch in the whole state of Michigan. Since I couldn't access the account that I transferred money into, I set up another account and transferred the money between BMO accounts. The story goes on and on. BMO needs a person to test their user interfaces. They also need to change their security procedures. I'm sure that their very difficult security features have lost them a lot of new customers. Out of the 4 customer service people I talked to, only one knowledgeable and helpful; although she said I'd be getting an email explaining what I had to do....but no email has arrived asof 30 minutes past our phone call.

Tried to open a cd
Tried to open a cd, I was asked for my current bank info to fund cd electronically, which I gave. Then I got a message that there was an error and account could not be set up. Few days later I get an email that account was indeed set up, with a note to "click here to fund", link didn't work. I called bank and was told account was not setup but if I answered a few questions, they would set it up for me. I was then asked the most bizarre questions including "did a third party help me get my driver's license over 30 years ago"? Most bizarre experience I have ever encountered, I'm kind of expecting them to somehow deduct the funds from my bank even though I instructed them to delete my account immediately.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. The reps are from India, the phone connection is always bad. I had to spend 10 minutes to give out information before they can look up. Spent 5 minutes just for them to understand my name. I had 2 encounters that Indian reps lied to me something they didn’t do. I asked their name, they hung off. What a joke, Stay away.

Inept - stay away
They have botched pretty much every step of my auto loan. They still haven't sent any paperwork after 90 days. Customer service reps seem to have no idea how their own systems work. Autopay forms must submitted via snail mail and take "3 to 45 business days to process" (not a typo, up to 45 business days), and in that time period they will charge you late fees and report you to collections / credit agencies. Trying to get anything resolved is an endless series of transfers to people who have no idea what is going on, or leaving voicemails that go unanswered. Save yourself time and frustration; work with literally any bank besides BMO Harris.

Horrible customer service. They don't have the right information, don't listen to you and make you run around to serve their needs. After calling many of their customer service reps, issues are still not resolved. Horrible that they won't even listen to their customers.

Worst Customer Service of Big Banks
90 - 120 minutes wait time for customer support by phone...up from 40 minutes 5 years ago...fees keep increasing and service keeps deteriorating...if you want to avoid stress and frustration in your life do yourself a favor and choose another bank. ANY OTHER BANK.

HOLD BMO HARRIS BANK ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR WRONGS
1 STAR IS TOO MUCH AMERICA, On August 25th, 2022 at 4:28 p.m. I called BMO HARRIS since the Branch has NO control and the (800) RUNS the Bank! Explained my reason for calling as asked, when I stated BMO had corrupted my positive $0.00 account in good standing by giving for the fourth time in months. My money to a company that was not supposed to be paid. That actually had approved my REFUND of $63.29 which is on the way. Prior to BMO HARRIS putting me in a NEGATIVE Balance of $63.29 by giving funds to this company. From a card that was CLOSED over a month ago by a supervisor to help me protect my Bank account from future fraud. A card that IS INACTIVE and CUT UP! I had NO worries about any transactions being paid from this card. ONLY incoming pending deposits if any. I wanted to speak to a Supervisor, and the Representative HUNG UP IN MY FACE! I called back of course and waited for a callback when I did speak with the Escalation person. Again No empathy, No accountability from BMO Harris, Only SMUG Excuses Of How, and Why they were able to do this. I asked if my card is closed and cut up why were I not contacted prior, they responded they don't do that. Now with the overdraft of $63.29, I will not get a dime for it all is going to BMO Harris for their NEGLIGENCE of putting me in overdraft, by paying this company with funds I DID NOT HAVE AVAILABLE TO PAY ANYONE! Mind you when my account is empty I CAN NOT EVEN BUY A LOAF OF BREAD. I will not get one dime of money owed and honored by company in paying me. Crap bank with horrible customer…
Crap bank with horrible customer service. They illegally hold checks and can’t stop the real fraud but they hold non fraudulent checks for weeks. How do you hold a check for fraud after y on ve already taken the funds from the issuers account? Stay away! Not even the person at your local branch will help you if you have a problem, just ask Ryan at the calumet Ave branch in Hammond Indiana if he bothers calling you back. Freeze your account to lock up your money plus the worst customer service
Opened an account in April 2022. 3 days later my account was suddenly frozen by Kelsey Thompson from Fraud Dept. She requested 3 pieces of documents to prove my identity in order to un-freeze my account or it will be closed. I just moved to my new house and so I cannot provide the utility bill that she asked for. So, I agreed that she can close my account because of this. she sent a letter to me by post to confirm this decision a week later. However, 3 months passed and I can still see my frozen account sitting there without being closed. Everytime I called them (both Fraud dept and general BMO customer service) they still ask me to prove 3 forms of documents to un-freeze my account. I am very confused because you said you want to close my account. Why I still need to provide these documents now? They said if I don't provide the documents physically in a branch it will take a very long time to close it naturally. I don't have a branch in my state and of course I won't book a flight and hotel just fly to another State just to show them my documents. The worst thing is they started the whole issue from freezing my account, wanting to close it, not closing it and then requesting me to go to a branch to do nonsense. Even putting aside my account issue, every time I called them to explain my situation, all the customer representatives were so rude. They either never answered my call, promised to call back but never, or passed me to an irrelevant department that ends up wasting so much time. I didn't do anything wrong. The only mistake I made was to open an account with you in April. I didn't feel I was treated as a human honestly. I just want to say this is the worst banking experience I ever have in my life indeed.

Call their Fraud HOTLINE after your card gets hacked. Here is the number (262) 641-1998, call it! Let us know how many hundreds of times you had to call for them to actually pickup. Ive been callkmg for over 24 hours and they never answer. I had to contact the CFPB to report this as horrible customer service. I even contacted 2 branch managers and they cant get them to answer or call back either. In my opinion - banks that act in this manner should recieve a well deserved MASSIVE FINE. This is exactly what horrible customer service is all aboit and they still just dont give a sh!t... PATHETIC BANKING AT ITS WORSE! DO SOMETHING ALREADY

Deactivated my account...
Deactivated my account since it wasn't being used for a couple of months... Then I have to make a new one and go to activate my card at a gas station. They transfer me and expect me to wait 40 minutes to ACTIVATE my card. Get more staff or don't transfer someone for no reason who entered all the information correctly! I wanted to swap banks for a better experience and now I'm choosing to let you guys "Cancel my account" by yourselves again because of this poor service.

I was able to start an account online, which was awesome. I did have some issues at one point, because they charged me fees when it was supposed to be a free account. They did correct it, but still. I have not had an issue for the past year or so, though.

Worst bank I've ever used - by leaps and bounds!!
I use BMO Harris only because the company bought Diner's Club from another bank a few years ago. I have banked with many entities, ranging from small credit unions to large, multinational banks, and just about everything in between. My work has required domestic and international travel for my entire 40 year career, so I've seen it all. Between my Amex and Diner's accounts, there isn't much a traveler would need, so I rely heavily on both and wouldn't think of getting rid of either. However, since BMO Harris took over Diner's, for me it's been nothing but trouble, hassle, absolutely horrendous - no, nonexistent - "customer service". I cannot say enough about how bad my experiences have been. The company forced closure of the old Diner's website, which was simple and intuitive, and provided easy, fast access to information and accounting tools, and changed it over so that Diner's account had to join the HORRIBLE BMO Harris site. The information needed to manage an account properly is almost hidden, and in my view, the site is incredibly un-intuitive and user-unfriendly. Evidently, you can't even change your personal information and contacts online; I tried by contacting them through their website but I was told that I would have to call them with the information. This is incredible - they are not only creating more work for themselves with this policy, but making more work for their customers, not to mention the ill will. Other normal online credit card management options are unavailable to Diner's users, also, it seems. The telephone reps, when I could get through, have been consistently uninterested in hearing my difficulties, offered seemingly pre-canned excuses, and have even been downright nasty at times - shockingly so! It's also my opinion that payments are slower to be credited with BMO than with any other bank I use. If not for the very nice Diners Club services provided to travelers (features that were made available long before BMO got its hooks into Diners), I would trash this account. I thank my stars I don't have to bank with BMO Harris in any other capacity, and one day, when my life requires less travel, it will give me great pleasure to terminate my BMO Harris account.

I LOVE BMO HARRIS BANK!
I LOVE my bank, BMO HARRIS. I have been banking with them since 1992! ALMOST 30 years! And in that time, I have NEVER had a bad experience OR a bounced check! THAT, is why I've been banking there for nearly 30 years. Unlike most other banks, if you over draw, they will give you 1 day to cover the funds, thereby never charging you an overdraft fee as long as you do. As well, I had a 10 year, $10,000 line of equity with them that I paid off and never had 1 problem with. The customer service is always excellent and any money that I have ever deposited, has always been available immediately/almost immediately. Having said all of this, I must admit that I have to wonder about the financial responsibility of any of the complainers on here! The easiest bank EVER!!

Received great customer service at my bank location. That's not the reason for the 3 start review. It takes FOREVER to send and receive a deposit with BMO Harris bank. It takes nearly 5 to 7 days to update on your account or external account. Also having issues purchasing crypto using my card. Think they don't want people purchasing crypto using there bank cards. Right now I'm looking for a card to do transfers and this one will not work. May have to close it soon..

Shout out to the amazing Relationship Banker, Kyle DeVoe NMLS: 1765373 | Retail Relationship Banker | Deer Valley 19828 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85027. Kyle is not only helpful but he is proactive. I had a deposit issue at another branch. I contacted Kyle for assistance but was advised that I needed to contact that branch manager directly. Kyle provided me their contact info, but he also called the other branch manager directly. By the time I called the other branch manager was already aware of the issue and was taking steps to remedy!
