Advantages Over Regular Bank

Axos Bank, formerly Bank of Internet USA, was born on July 4, 2000. The bank’s founders purposely set the launch date for the Fourth of July because they wanted to demonstrate their independence from traditional banking. Almost 20 years on, and Axos is still a leader in online banking.

Here are some of the advantages Axos offers over regular banks:

  • 24/7 access to bank accounts and associated services, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Open a new bank account in minutes, from the comfort of your computer or phone.
  • None of those annoying fees the big brick-and-mortar banks charge, such as monthly maintenance and transfer fees.
  • Round-the-clock customer support for all users, via website, secure messaging, or phone.

Cutting-Edge Banking Services

Throughout almost 20 years in online banking, Axos Bank has had plenty of time to develop and refine its services in accordance with what its customers want.

Axos Bank highlights include:

  • Access to your paycheck two days early when you sign up with direct deposit.
  • Manage all your regular bills within one dashboard.
  • Step-by-step checklist on moving your old bank account over to your new Axos account.
  • Up to 1% cashback on all transactions that require a signature (with special CashBack Checking account only).
  • Joint checking accounts for 13-17 year olds and parents, with accompanying financial management tools.
  • Visa offers and perks.

Traditional Banking Services

Axos Bank has made a name for itself as one of the longest-running digital banks, but it by no means neglects traditional banking services. Axos Bank users get access to a range of bank accounts and financial services.

Here’s a breakdown:

  • 5 types of checking accounts, with varying features and requirements
  • 2 types of high-yield savings and money market accounts
  • Range of certificates of deposit, with terms ranging from 3 to 60 months
  • Wide selection of loan products, including: personal loans, auto loans, and home loans
  • Access to global network of ATMs, with unlimited fee reimbursements for some accounts and limited reimbursements for others
  • Financial services for businesses, including: merchant services, business loans and financing, and a range of digital business banking tools
  • Axos Premier, a private program for anyone who opens a deposit account with a minimum opening deposit of $500,000. Includes personal relationship manager, expedited services, and full high-transfer, ATM, and point-of-sale limits

Interest Rates and Fees

One of the best things about Axos Bank is the fees – or lack thereof. Axos Bank doesn’t charge any maintenance fees. What’s more, most accounts come with the lure of no overdraft fees as well as ATM reimbursements ranging from unlimited for standard checking accounts to $8-12 worth of monthly reimbursements for age-restricted accounts.

Customer Service

With Axos Bank, you don’t only get 24/7 online access. You also get 24/7 customer service via two methods: secure messaging (online or mobile) or phone. In addition, the Axos Bank website has an extensive support section with answers to lots of frequently asked questions.

Mobile Apps

All Axos Bank customers get access to the free Axos mobile banking app, available for download on iOS and Android devices. Although not as comprehensive as Axos Bank’s online platform, the app does have some pretty useful features.

With the Axos mobile banking app, you can:

  • Check your account balances
  • Transfer funds between your Axos accounts
  • Pay bills
  • View your account transaction history
  • Contact a customer support rep using secure messaging

Security

One of the things we like about Axos Bank is that it’s transparent about security measures. According to Axos, its accounts come with the following layers of protection:

  • 2-step authentication, consisting of questions only you know the answer to or a security code to your mobile device
  • 128-bit SSL encryption to ensure your data remains private and secure
  • Regular updates to detect and prevent viruses and malware
  • Automatic logout when your session is inactive for more than a few minutes
  • Accounts are regularly monitored for potential fraud

Axos Axos Visit Axos

Conclusion

Axos Bank does the basics very well, in fact better than most banks. While it lacks some of the rewards and add-ons found at other online banks, Axos is up there with the best banks when it comes to APYs and fees. If being able to open parallel checking and savings accounts with decent interest, no fees, and the convenience of 24/7 access from your computer or mobile device is your priority – then Axos Bank checks all the right boxes.

Does Axos pay for fake 5 star reviews?
It appears that Axos is using some sort of reputation improvement service and paying to or soliciting to have tons of fake 5 star reviews here. Still cannot get Axos to refund duplicate charges that cost me a small fortune. Look, don't believe any online banking reviews site that recommends Axos. It is as if Azos pay to get this advertisement. Most likely you are here because it is too late, you didn't read this before joining Axos, you have been ripped off and now you want to complain. Read the 1 star reviews here and you will see that there is nothing you can do. Axos has ripped you off. Chalk it up and get your money, delete your account and move on. As you can see from their frustrating replies here, you won't get anywhere fighting with them. This is an awful bank. Frustrating off shore customer service from call centers in the Philippines. Read the 1 star reviews here and on other sites like BBB to see how the same infuriating problems persist over and over again. This company for some reason has free reign to take advantage of people, rip them off, steal from them, and continue to do it without fear of penalties. Bottom line is that you got taken advantage of by Axos. They don't care, and based on reading hundreds of reviews there is nothing anyone has been able to do about it. They consider themselves an online bank and to them, this means no customer service. They force you to communicate by secure messages. They will frustrate you and beat you down by delaying responses for weeks at a time or just not responding or providing unhelpful and impertinent responses. They are unhelpful and their apologies are empty and written into their nonsensical canned responses. If you are here because Axos screwed you, write your 1 star reviews, move your money to another bank, lick your wounds and don't look back. Read the ridiculous reply they will make to my review and use it as proof you should never under any circumstances do business with these people. Don't look at the total star ratings on trustpilot or any site. Read the negative reviews and the company's replies to the negative reviews. This is what you should be doing before even considering to use this bank. Oh, and look at the fees they charge to cancel your account!!!! They make sure to add insult to injury. It is a surprise parting gift from Axos for you allowing them to have abused you.

Where do I begin? Avoid!!!!
Horrible c s. Reps’ English is a nightmare. refused to transfer call to US mgr. New app is impossible to navigate and shows incorrect info. Dup mortgage payment manually made when app showed no info on bank payment auto payment info. Rep Promised refund deposited to bank it was drawn from in 3-5 days. It’s been 2 weeks. 2nd bad experience with this bank. App still shows incorrect info. Last time it took 6 months for Axos to correct THEIR error with credit bureaus, damaging MY credit rating. Would NEVER recommend Axos to anyone. Next step is to report to CFPB

One of the worst decisions I have ever made to go with Axos. Even though it's an internet bank, their app is horrible. Things that are supposed to be accomplished by the app you have to call and have them do it manually. Over 1 month ago when I called for manual assistance I was told that they were aware of the problem and had made updates. Still haven't received them. There customer service reps are very courteous but don't have the tools to effectively do there jobs

Hides interest charges.
Had been customer for 19 years. In 2022 accidentally over drew my overdraft account. I assumed it would be automatically paid off once I added sufficient funds to the checking account. But it doesn’t work that way. In fact, the website is broken. The loan doesn’t appear at all. There is no clear way to pay off the loan. No way to see there’s a balance on the loan. Not apparent that there is a loan. It required frustrating series of secure messages to offshore support who could understand me telling them to pay off the loan. Eventually after almost a week they transferred the money. Except a second overdraft accidentally occurred not long after. I thought any more I saw at that point was left over from the first fiasco getting them to transfer the money. This time again I had already scheduled a transfer into the account 10x more than the overdraft amount. Yet again it wasn’t paid off and I didn’t notice it. Again it didn’t appear in account listing. No way to transfer money. No transaction history appeared for the loan. 8 months later I discover the loan and that I had been charged 18% interest for the last 8 months. Still the website showed no sign of this loan. Customer service had to make special effort to generate a statement. Not available on the website. This is fraudulent. Charge 18% interest in an invisible loan you can’t pay off except talking to customer service while doesn’t seem to understand the request. I’ve complained to many agencies. They replied to bbb saying they refuse to respond. This bank is fundamentally broken with no interest in fixing their website. I’ve hence moved my money elsewhere. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this bank.

Don't Do It - Too Many Reviews That Tell The Same Tale! DONT BANK HERE...
If a rating was offered lower than one star I would have chose that rating. I would not recommend this bank at all. They used to handle customer service issues well. They placed a 5 day hold 2 days after I made a deposit; 7 business days . The check was from my mother, who has the same last name I do, and the hold was labeled as an external transfer and nothing could be done to release the funds or view the check. All calls are routed to India and the Middle East with no chance to speak to a supervisor as I was told by each agent. I have tried for 3 days to get assistance and it did not happen. This is not the first time this has happened. 3 years of banking history each and every deposit was placed on hold for 5-10 days. It has happened each and every time I made a deposit regardless of where it was from and the amount. Only check that did not have a 10 day hold was $.25 (25 cents). I deposited the check Monday at 4pm, and it took 15 hours to process that check.

Good Overall Services, but . . .
I like the app, the website, interest rates, and telephone support when needed. I do not like that Axos loaned Donald Trump $250M when other banks refused to do so. Great service, but ethics are questionable.

Yasaman makes every interaction with Axosbank great
What makes every interaction great with Axosbank is Yasaman Nazari. She tirelessly answers my many questions and has demonstrated that she has my family's best interest in mind. She has often turned frustration into satisfaction, as she did recently when she suggested changing my lower-interest account to a new account that offers a better return. For my family, she is what every account manager ought to be - customer focused, kind, and helpful.

I was in the process of opening a business account.
I was in the process of opening a business checking account. This was my first venture into business banking and turned out to be very different than personal banking. After sorting through upfront processes and submitting the application on a Friday I had some messages that required action over the weekend. I wasn't expecting anything to happen over the weekend so it was nice to here from Axos. On Monday I did need to speak with someone and I had the pleasure of speaking with William. William was an excellent communicator and fixed, while we were on the phone, some items I figured I would need to start over with or somehow get back into the system to correct. Being a Mortgage Loan Originator for 25 years I have spoken to tons of people generally speaking and the communication I had with William was awesome enough to comment positively. I was impressed and I look forward to any other experiences with Axos for as long as we do business together.

Absolutely horrible. The worst company I have ever had to deal with. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Customer service is atrocious. One agent pretended he couldn't hear me/ lost connection. When I called him out on it, he magically heard me right away. The user interface is horrible and you cannot move your money anywhere, even after you say you want to close the account!!

Absolute joke
Absolute joke. Do you like being blocked from accessing your account with VPN? How about 5 business days to process anything? Instructions that don't make any sense or excessive unnecessary security measure something you enjoy? Axos (Business) Bank is for you. Outdated technology and processes makes using this bank account a part-time job. Avoid, seriously do yourself the favor and pay like $10 bucks a month for an actual bank.

Wish I had looked here first
Wish I had looked here first. First note the BUSINESS bank is completely different than the personal accounts. Different logon, different web interface, different features. As other noted the application process was way too long and disorganized. Once done, using the web interface is a joke, looks like a student programming project. (The personal accounts seem to have a completely different interface, much more modern, but I did not get a personal account so cannot verify that). So many holes in this for business users... like sending wire transfer is manual fillout of a form and emailing it (what is this, 1990??). Coming from Wells Fargo this is nonsense, this is supposed to be an online bank, but the online capability is pathetic for business accounts. And I cannot link our business PayPal account to the AXOS business account (just google it and see nobody can do it, neither AXOS or PayPal will help). That alone is reason enough for me to close our AXOS account after less than 2 weeks.

7 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE - TWICE FAILED TO WIRE
I've been an AXOS bank customer (you're going to ask "why??") for almost 7 years. Last year they could not have MORE effed up a wire. MULTIPLE times, because of failure on their part (like losing the wire form, but had my secure message logged and never contacted me to ask for a new one (SO THEY MISSED DAY ONE), then acknowledging they received it the second time AND PROMISING THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME FOR WIRE CONFIRMATION) they never did, nor did they tell me that they ONLY contact clients through their messaging platform - THEY NEVER CALLED (AND THEY MISSED DAY TWO). So start of day three I called to see what the eff the problem was and they informed me that they never received a confirmation of my wire (of course they didn’t call me on day two) and because they never received confirmation on their messaging platform, I had to RESUBMIT the wire form!!! Seriously, how customer effed up can they be?? So here it is a year later and I’m sending a wire again. Guess what?? They effed it up AGAIN!! Again, they promised they would call with any issues. Did they? NO!! There decided there was an issue with my signature - though I just sold my $500,000 home signing documents they way I did for their wire form - and ONCE AGAIN, INSTEAD OF CALLING So I could fix it and make the deadline, they just CANCELED THE WIRE!!! AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON THEIR MESSAGING PLATFORM. DO NOT USE AXOS - ANY BANK BUT AXOS!!!

Axos Bank business banking department…
Axos Bank business banking department approved my complex corporate business account at lightening speed. I submitted all electronic documents and zero paper. This is about as green friendly as a bank can be. Basic Business Checking is totally free with no minimum account balance and 2 reimbursed outgoing wire transfers every month. They wired $27,000 to my LLC's brokerage account same-day. Their banking website is about as simple as it gets... reminds me of what secure database driven websites looked like before bloatware took over the internet. Axos Bank seems like a necessity for any small start-up enterprise.

Internal communication with the bank is worthless.
I have had an Axos car loan for about five years. Late on one payment when the account was originally opened up and paid the $17 fee. Two months ago the bank somehow didn't process my payment and charged me another 17 bucks. Last month I spoke with them and made that payment and the future payment and they waived the $17----except they didn't put that $17 waiver on their record. I called them today to get it corrected and spoke with a very nice lady but couldn't understand 50% of the English she spoke. They must farm this out to some foreign country in the southeast. Good people but they don't speak the language and I'm gonna pay the entire loan off next month and will never deal with Axos bank again.

Now i get it why they have 1 stars reviews, just opening an account for an "online bank" take way way too long , they requested a bunch of documents and it took them about 4 days to send me a Docu Sign document, in the end of the application they have a bunch of nonsense questions non of the other banks requiring, all this questions marked as optional but the personal insisted it must be filled up. Terrible set-up process and Customer Service
Terrible disorganized process in trying to open a new account. Didn't call me fir the first scheduled interview, I scheduled a 2nd one online and when they called for the second one (15 minutes late from the scheduled time) they asked for things that I did not have prepared and wanted me to reschedule when all they needed to do was provide me what I needed for the interview. Their process and customer service was terrible - 2 very important things you need when it is a digital bank with no in-person place to goto if you have an issue. They are not getting my businesses money!

Axos bank started off with a promise of…
Axos bank started off with a promise of being a non-greedy bank that will give you interest rates higher than any other bank. This was all a good baiting method, that has not stuck to that initial promise, so I'm not surprised at all the negative reviews. None-the-less it is an easy to use online bank that still is less greedy then your typical Chase bank or Bank of America. This is helpful for the regular joe who like to be their own banker! There is extremely low interest, but at least they don't charge (or return your money) when you withdraw money from ATM's. It is very hard to get satisfying answers from customer service, but they are helpful if you can finally get a hold of them. This could take over a week from their website email, or practically an hour+ on a phone, IF the call actually goes through. All that being said, auto depositing & depositing checks online works, transferring money without charges or penalties, connecting to other banks is a function, showing you analytical charts to your money distribution is readily available, and they have a relatively strong anti-fraud detection and will support you through this whether it is debt, credit, or bank fraud. If you are wealthy, you may want to hit the pro banks who will charge you for every transaction and actually have a location where you can speak to people in person. The positive thing to that, is they (e.g Chase) are usually in bed with the government and will get bailed out if something happens to your money. Theoretically, the government should just bail out the people who lost their money and let the corporation fail, but that would be reasonable. America doesn't like that. So we are stuck with the filthy rich greedy, or Axos for the regular Joe.

Worst of all, it is not a bank
Worst experience ever I ever had, from a fraudulent, idiotic, bunch of clowns working "site" (won't name it a "Bank"). If you open an account there be prepared to receive something like the one I received out of nowhere! I worry if their check will ever reach me soon. Very unprofessional experience with my hard earned saving. ***** Hello, We regret to inform you that Axos Bank® has decided to end our banking relationship. This is in accordance with the Deposit Account Agreement you accepted when you applied for an account with us. The agreement states, “The Bank reserves the right to close your account for any reason, without cause, or notice.” A check payable to the current account holder(s) in the amount of any remaining balance (less outstanding fees, service or other charges) will be sent to your mailing address on file. No fee was charged to your account for the account closure. This decision is final. We understand you may have questions or concerns, but we are unable to provide further information regarding the decision to end our banking relationship. ******* Crap. Doesn't worth your time and frusturation. ********* Update after getting a reply from the bank: Bank: ....."To protect our customers and Axos Bank our policy states accounts can be closed at any point"..... You mean your incompetent care team opens an account for a customer with a wrong or incomplete name? Then the poor customer had to educate them to correct his name. On the attempt to "correct" that (the team thinks customer is changing his name), obviously with the same proof (my US driving license used to open my account) they suddenly won't understand what is going on, obviously they are naive or dopey and not the same person is going to answer or handle the case. And ta da! lets CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!!! (because we don't care about this customer, as well! not the first time, I read similar case below happened to others)....NOT EVEN HAVE TO INFORM THE CUSTOMER!! I am OK with whatever you call it as a "procedure" written on the hidden terms, and fine with let me go. My only problem is who the hell are you to handle my money in a manner I am not intended? Why playing this game of sending check like "barbarian", please wake up it is "2023" and stop playing this cheap business with really cheap employees you got (I experienced, they are or at least act dumb!). Respect that it is not your money. And all my experiences in this country make me strongly wonder, "Is this really a free nation?" nope.

axos bank sucks
axos bank sucks. You cannot understand the words of the "team member" voice clearly, the Indian accent and low bass volume is frustratingly hard to interpret. I hate evo chat and that is what you're supposed to use for everything. Finding out what your balances are is painstakingly hard. A transfer was due for availability on the 11th, when it wasn't by 9:30 pm on the 11th I was just able to understand that it would be ready by the end of the day, midnite, which would be the 12th. 3 day early withdrawals are the only reason for me to stay PERIOD

Business banking for people who live in the 1900s
This is for their business banking division. I've been with them since 2019 and I have opened two different accounts for two different LLCs and I can say that, while I appreciate needing to protect my account and data, I have never had such a nightmare both logging into any account or having to reset a password. I literally logged in a week ago to transfer money and when I went to log in this week for some reason it kept rejecting my password. I had to call in to get it reset and they run you through this insane series of questions that can hard to answer if you move a lot or have a PO box, like: "which street is the closest to the street your address is on?" - if your address is in the middle of an old, big city with lots of tiny allies and you haven't lived there long or it's a PO box address, then you're pretty effed because how am I going to know the names of all the many streets in that city? They only give you 60 seconds to answer the questions, so if you stumble you're out of luck. If you happen to pass that test then you still have to wait a full business day to get back into your account, even though we live in the digital age and I can send money to someone on an app on my phone and it arrives in seconds. But no, with Axos you have to wait a day. One star for the very nice and patient customer service people who have nothing to do with the crappy security system. One star because they've never lost my money.

Dinged credit and declined loan application for lame reason
My husband has over an 800 credit score and a 7% debt ratio. They declined his personal loan because he forgot the email address he used to apply saying they couldn't verify his identity. That's petty! They had us jumping through hoops during the application process providing far more documents than SoFi needed, who offered the same rate and much more easily and quickly approved him.

customer service is absolute horrible
Agreed with other people's review, the customer service is absolute horrible. I opened account today, and made some mistake when login and account get locked out and it ask for call customer repersentative to reset the password, but when I call them, the guy don't even know how to help, and keep saying you need to login, you have new account, you have to make transfer to deposit to finish the account opening. if I can't login, how I can get the way to deposit? I call the customer service is ask for help to login, but the customer repersentative is like drunk or on drug, totally not make sense, I ask to transfer my call to someone else, he just say hangup and dial again, and again long waiting.

Their business banking is pretty pathetic. Very slow customer service (on the phone) and a poor digital experience. Feels like from the early 2000s. I also have a personal account with them, which is much better than their business banking. However, still behind other banking options. I’d highly recommend other options such as Bluevine for business banking - it’s like night and day!

Another great example of how Axos messed me up... bad.
Well i want to show the readers how bad communicating is with this company. There is no way to talk to someone on the phone at AXOS and they believe there are no emergencies that would even allow a phone conversation. Here is how bad they can harm you. A real life situation that if you travel outside the US on a cruise or just to another country, you could be really screwed by axos. It happened to me. Here is what happened. You decide if this is the type of service you are willing to accept in a bank that controls your money and charges tons of fees, even when they say they don't. I was traveling outside the US and they had been refusing to give me information on the cost of using their credit card outside the US. This information is either buried in their site or does not exist. But I was told I had to make them aware or my card would not work. So the only thing I could think of was the private messaging system they have. I was a few days out for my trip and I had been trying to call. I finally figured the only way to reach them was through their online secure messaging. This is the only way they want to talk with customers. Im good at finding back doors but these guys are a fortress and even if you get in, they wont help you. On October 24th I sent them a message as I was supposed to, at 8:50pm. "I will be in Ecuador from 10/29 until 11/11 2022. I will be using my credit card. Please send me a fee schedule for international atm withdrawals from Ecuador which uses USD. which atms can I use for free atm withdrawals. Their response does not come..... for 4 days.... So I try again. On 10/28 at 10:16 pm I write again, "I'm not sure why you're not responding?" So 13 days after my last message, I finally get a message from them. It comes to the secure message center and there is no way to notify me I have a message... I finally hear back from them "I have been in Equador since 10/29, My first response from AXOS comes 11/9/22 at 5 am (13 days after I started my trip and with 2 days left) The message says, "Thank you for contacting Axos Bank. I hope your day is going well. {No my day sucks because I have been in another country not being able to use my credit card because you took 17 days to respond to my multiple messages} I am sorry for the delay in response. {I bet you are not. You are told to say sorry for everything and it means nothing to your customers because you say it all the time and it means nothing when you say it.} I understand that you have a query regarding being able to use the card internationally and I will surely help you. As I personally reviewed your account details, I would like to inform you that you can use your VISA debit card internationally anywhere a Visa card is accepted. There is a 1% foreign currency conversion rate for all International Point of Sale (POS) transactions and ATM withdrawals. Further, please keep in mind there could be additional fees imposed by the merchant or ATM used. Please refer to our account disclosures for the rate. {Notice no link to this important information. This means you have to message back and wait another 17 days to hopefully get the correct informtion.} I have successfully updated the travel notes on your account as per your request. In the future, if you are planning on traveling, you can notify the bank by following these steps {Sir, you put me out doing this for you so I want you to know that this will not happen again. We are a no service bank and you are required to know everything and do everything yourself without any information on our site which would help you to do anything}:  1. Log in to online banking from a web browser  2. Click on Accounts  3. Click on the account that your Debit or ATM card is linked to  4. Click on Details  5. Click on your Debit or ATM card under linked Debit Cards.  6. Click on Travel notifications  7. Enter the dates and locations you will be traveling to.  8. Click on Submit. Hope these steps help you. Thank you for your patience and understanding. {And if you do it wrong or don't understand, then I guess you will be without our card to use for your vacation. This is fine for us as we hate dealing with over seas charges and try to do everything possible so customers can't use our cards and make us do extra work.} If you have further questions, feel free to reply to this message. We will be more than happy to help you. {When we feel like getting around to it} Alternatively, you can use our {worthless}virtual financial assistant, Evo, {Who doesn't know spit, has never helped anyone and has served to be the biggest waste of time and frustration for anyone dumb enough to try it}. Simply log in to Online Banking and select the Evo icon to start a chat. Feel free to reach out to us by phone at (888) 502-2967. We appreciate your business since 2021 and commit to providing superior banking products, support, and services Best Regards, Soniya Axos Customer Service

Axos Personal vs Axos Business
I've used axos personal banking for a few years now with good experience on that end: the app is intuitive and user-freindly, but customer service is available only via chat with non-native english speakers with no authority to help you. This week we tried to open a business checking account despite the horrendous reviews. Those reviews, we discovered, are justified. Our business is a tech start-up with $100,000 in VC funding that was just formed as a corporation. Axos refused to let us even open an account because we couldn't produce TWO YEARS of utility bills in the companies name, despite Axos specifically encouraging START-UPS to apply. I reached out through the secure messaging and also called the bank. We did have our EIN and a dozen other formal registrations in the company name and at the proper address. Axos reps flatly said that if we couldn't show two yearrs of water bills in the company name, that they could not care less about us and to go elsewhere. Many start-ups begin in coworking spaces where utilities are in the name of the coworking space. This dumb assumption shows Axos is out of touch with the businesses they claim to serve.

I ordered an ATM card in January
I ordered an ATM card in January. I finally received it in February and it was for the WRONG ACCOUNT. I requested an ATM for the correct account and it now March 18 and I haven't received it. When I called customer service and finally got to talk to someone after 30 minutes on hold, they just told me that they would order the card. I tried to get an explanation of where the other one was and couldn't get an answer. I'm very disappointed that Nationwide Bank turned over the book of business to Axos. Time for me to get a new bank!

Axos customer service is the absolute…
Axos customer service is the absolute worst. If you need to speak with an actual human being, expect a minimum of a 45 minute wait on hold. MINIMUM!

Not worth the stress for the higher interest
I joined Axos bank about a month ago. They offer excellent rates on savings accounts but their customer service is THE WORST I've EVER dealt with. The automated system suggests using the live chat but nobody is ever online. It takes forever to get through to a live person on the phone. When they finally answer, they don't tell you their name and it sounds like they are in the middle of Grand Central Station. They don't help at all and make you keep repeating yourself and then hang up on you. When you call back it's another 45-minute hold time to get another rep. I've emailed asking for managers to call me and all they do is close out my request as if it's been completed when nobody has called me. I'm starting to think the higher interest isn't worth the higher stress.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BANK EVER
THIS IS A HORRIBLE BANK WITH THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called maybe 8 times never got a hold of someone. So I had to use the chat and waited over 25 min to get a person named Vaibhab R. Said he was checking the details of my account and just disconnected me. I was so mad so I had to wait all over again and got the same guy again and I told him I was frustrated with him and he disconnected again. For surely will be closing my account. online banking is stupid if they have useless customer service.

Axos bank closed my account and now…
Axos bank closed my account and now they are holding my funds. They told me my account is restricted because their internal team was unable to verify the document i sent which is a lie because it is an official name change document there is absolutely no way they can do this. I havent had any issues with any other bank i even have my social changed .I tried to send a wire transfer today and I was told i had to send over my documents to have my identity verified . I had a name changed so i sent over the documentation that was needed. They closed my account ten minutes later and sent me some email saying that my account was being closed because i went against the deposit agreement which i did not . I want them to process my wire transfer so that i can pay my rent they are a scam bank and the representatives are rude and condescending. They need to be reprimanded for their fradulent banking practices and how they hold customers funds for forever

This bank is HORRIBLE beyond measure
This bank is HORRIBLE beyond measure. I ordered debit cards for me and my wife 2 months ago. They never sent them. I reordered 3 weeks ago they sent mine but not my wife. Just spoke with Customer Service and was told my wife card which I never received had activated. How? I deposited a check 2 weeks ago. The customer service rep told me they had received the check but I would have re-deposit. I cannot link my USB Savings Account which is Axos to my Axos Checking Account. Though Axos is supposedly an internet bank I have to send a message so they can manually transfer from my USB account to my Axos Savings Account. Going with Axos is one of the worse decisions I have ever made. I thought is was just me but I can tell from the other posts that the problems with Axos are systemic.

Axos mistreats and steals from customers
Axos made it impossible for me to make an electronic payment for a loan and forced me to use a paper check. Then, wanted to charge a late fee for not processing my check efficiently and promptly. When I requested a change in my payment due date to accommodate their antediluvian rules, I was told it was done - then had to argue and pester them for 2 months and complain to federal regulators to complete the process. I am paying my loan down faster than required because I cannot wait to NEVER do business with them again.

What happened, Axos Bank/Axos Invest?
Axos Bank/Invest had been one of my favorite banks, up until Feb 2021, now it seems they don’t care about their customers. I wrote this review back in 2020: "Hands down one of the better banking experiences I've had. Customer service is great and very informative when needed. Bill pay is great. Love the user interface, just an overall great experience and service." Let's just say, things have gone downhill, heck under the hill at this point. I have had an issue with my account going on 3yrs now and no one can tell me what's going on. I eventually closed the account as much as I hated too, hoping to start from scratch. That didn’t go any better. The closed account is still there, I can access it, but that’s about it. I opened a new account to replace that account and now, I can't access the account. Its not visible on the portal or in any of the drop down menus to transfer funds to or from. I'm a patient person and have given them the benefit of the doubt. I've tried to contact them and make them aware of my issue in multiple ways. I've emailed them directly to both support addresses, have sent secured messages through the bank portal, have posted multiple times on Facebook and Twitter. Most recently as of Dec. 13th 2022, I received a response after posting to Facebook, I think…anyway, the response stated, that I would hear back from them in 3-5 days, as of today(Feb. 3rd 2023), I have not heard from them and have sent another follow up email like I had done on Jan. 4th 2023. My most recent thought option to get some attention on my account, was to start a video channel…the year is still early though, so who knows

We first started with a BOFI account…
We first started with a BOFI account back in the day before everything was merged under Axos. Had issues back then but customer service was decent. Now everything is terrible. Customer service wait times are horrible. Then if you try to set up any additional accounts it is hair pulling. I recently opened up a business account with them and had my spouse added on. But because he was the primary on our personal accounts, they put him as the primary on it instead of me, the sole proprietor. Their online business banking is from the first days of the internet and their mobile app constantly has issues. After being with them for years, we are done and transferring everything to Ally bank. Do yourself a favor and go with a different bank.

Horrible Customer Service - Stay Away from Axos Bank
I have held a small business checking account with Axos Bank for my residential rental business for almost 4 years. I had a smaller than usual balance in my Axos account and deposited an additional $200 on 1/11/23 through Axos Mobile banking, to cover my 1/17/23 mortgage payment. My online banking balance showed that there was sufficient funds for my mortgage payment and on 1/17/23 Axos paid my mortgage payment leaving a little over $125 balance after the payment. This is low for me, but I had just paid a deposit back to a tenant - and I usually kept between $4,000-$9,000 in this account for years. On 1/18/23 Axos Bank decided to return my Mortgage Payment NSF, even though there were sufficient funds. I called and was told that Axos had put a 5 business day hold on my small $200 mobile check deposit, and that the hold had come off on 1/18/23, but that the funds were not available on 1/17/23. I had no idea that there would be a 5 business day hold on a small little $200 deposit. Also, I did not notice any difference between the balance and available balance online, or I would have done something else to make sure my mortgage was covered as I had plenty of money in my accounts at other banks to more than cover my mortgage payment. None of my other banks that I work with would put a 5 business day hold on the full amount of a small $200 check deposit, and then not at least email me to let me know there was a hold. Axos bank shows no appreciation for me as a fairly long-time customer who has maintained regular high balances for years too. When I asked if they could just put the mortgage payment back through since it was being returned that day and the funds were apparently available, instead of returning it and the Axos bank rep said No, she could not do that. I asked to speak to a manager and she said she could fill out a ticket and a manager would contact me in 1-2 business days. How does that solve the immediate problem of putting the mortgage payment debit back through my account and not returning it to my mortgage company? I went ahead and had her fill out the ticket for a manager to call me in 1-2 business days. It has now been 10 business days and no one has called me. Axos Bank is more concerned with taking your money, and when it comes to providing any kind of service to their customers - forget it. Also, they do not have an easy way to do external ACH transfers as apparently this is done through Bill Pay but my account has no activated Bill Pay service. I've been calling Axos to get this fixed and having to do it again today as it's never been fixed. I spoke with 2 people who didn't really speak English, after being transferred a third time to find that I was on hold in the wrong department. I called the "Bill Pay" number and someone who did speak English, who really wanted to help me, said he couldn't help me and to call Axos Business banking (a 4th call) and that's when I decided to write this very honest review of this Horrible bank. I'm on my 4th call just to solve how to do an ACH transfer, not to mention the trouble with my mortgage payment being mistakenly returned by Axos bank when the funds were available. This has been the worst bank I've ever dealt with!!

Constant Negligence
I've been a member of Axos since 2019 when I saw nerdwallet had them ranked as their best online bank for the year, (and probably still do in 2023) so I decided to give them a try in order to save myself money. Turns out that this was a big mistake.. the customer service, holding payroll after payday (yes, i sometimes don't get my direct deposit until days after the 1st and 15th), personal checks being held for weeks, and them regularly putting my funds on hold for absolutely no reason that they can give me, all suck. The servers that the app runs on are almost always inundated meaning you cant check your account no matter how new your phone is, or how good your cell phone's reception is at the time. You'd think that a bank who doesn't have physical locations would consider pouring money into its other facets to make it half-way worth using, but for Axos, that is simply not the case.

Support Extremely Poor or Non-Existent
Opened a Business Checking account and had a series of problems some small some large. A $10,000 transfer was not processed. Online support is non-existent. Telephone support is not empowered to take any actions. Every problem must go through "secure email" which takes days, sometimes weeks to respond. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ONLINE BANKING.

I recently got a mortgage through this…
I recently got a mortgage through this bank. I believe Axos was professional, conscientious and thorough; especially the loan originator known as JEAN PARKS who worked with me, and continously displayed confidence and professionalism. I have had experiences with other lenders who classify themselves as the best or biggest in the industry and the results was not nearly as good. I rate this bank a 5 out of 5 stars!

even though theyve been paid they want more money
On Novembr 15th I had a car accident. axos was notified several times via phone and emails. But not just by me. By my insurance company, warranty and gap company as well. They were wired and mailed the money for the 30 day payoff. They are now claiming that we owe 9xx.xx in late fees. they were sent the money at the beggining of december. I had made my november car payment a few days before the accident. And i was told not to make the december payment becasue of the accident. And so now becasue the lady who hit me didnt have insurance or a license i am left to pick up the pieces and try to figure out how to move on. We are now having a hard time getting another car loan because they are saying we owe the money when in fact they were paid the full 46,xxx. do not bank with them.they will scam you.

Don’t waste your time
Don’t waste your time! I tried this account with my partner. Several times, the bank froze my account and prevented me from accessing it. Each time I called they didn’t explain their reasoning until days and days later, which none of the excuses were valid, other than saying it’s apart of their mandatory process. Right now, I’m trying to get off a shared account; at first I was told I need to send a message through the app. I sent 5 messages in a month and only got one response and it didn’t address my request. I called and was on hold for a long time. When I finally got someone, she says “oh, the creator of the account has to close it and create a new one without you.” What!!?? This doesn’t make any sense! Can’t wait to put this bank behind me. Beware! Stay away and go with another institute.

An online bank with no online access
An online bank with no online access. Think of the worst banking experience you've ever had and multiply it by 10. After spending 8 Hours on the phone with tech support (8am-4PM), they are still unable to restore access to my two accounts that I've had access to for 2 years. The bank just turned off access and are unable to restore it and have no explanation -- AND THEY DON'T CARE. Plan on spending hours talking to an Indian call center with accents so strong and vocabulary so poor you cannot understand anything they are saying. Then THEY get frustrated that you can't understand them and THEY disconnect the call. It's like a bad Saturday Night Live skit. No Supervisor is ever available, so don't waste your time with that request. I am beginning to suspect that there is something going on with my money and they don't want me to see what's happening. Next step is to contact the Attorney General's office, which regulates banking in my state. I've tried everything else.

I'm not sure what happened to this bank
I'm not sure what happened to this bank, but they are not the same bank I started with. They have outsourced their customer service and they absolutely suck. I have repeatedly had my daughter's debit card, who is a minor, blocked for suspicious activity. I get no notification of the block and neither does she. When I call to find out what's going on with the card, I sit on hold for an extended period of time, I have to contend with a terrible connection, a ton of background noise, and customer service reps who repeatedly apologize for my inconvenience, but can't see any information on the card regarding fraud and have no idea why the card is suspended. When I talk to the fraud department they tell me there is no suspension on the card, which I figure out is because they are looking at a duplicate card Axos issued me for the account I was never requested and didn't know was issued. Why they would issue me a debit card for her account I didn't request, I have no idea. So I send a secure message requesting the card be cancelled and removed from the account. The reply asks again if I want to permanently block the card. I send another message trying to clarify again that I would like to cancel the card and have it removed from the account. I get no response. I call customer service again, endure the long wait, put up with the poor connection and background noise to finally be told it will take several months of non use for it to be removed from the account. Who has time for this. Additionally, if you use Quicken and download the transactions they are always screwed up. There is very poor compatibility and the payees are frequently wrong. This is recent. It use to be fine. There has to be a better online bank, and I'm going to find it. I suggest anyone considering this bank look elsewhere.

They are the worst
They are the worst! I have a mortgage with them and they doubled the escrow payments for taxes and insurance, based on "projected" analysis. Yes, real estate taxes will go up next year, but they will not double. When asked, they stated "it's in legal." They can't answer any questions and viewing the escrow balance on line is "not available." This is supposed to be a "digital" bank. When I called they stated that their website is slow. It's SUPPOSED to be an internet bank. Absolutely worst banking experience ever. I wish I'd never heard of them and had secured a mortgage elsewhere.

Continued. Terrible choice for a Bank.
Continued. They never responded to my secure message about the ATM and I had to use another bank card. Evo, computer customer service worthless and frustrating. When you call you want to speak to a real person and you never will. You just can't deposit a check with them. You have to do it using their app which is so ridiculously bad. So you will follow their instructions and they say that you have to sign your name on the back of the check and put, "for Axos Mobile deposit only." Then true to form with everything using this bank the app would not recognize the front of the check. This has happened to me multiple times. Because you have signed the back of the check to Axos bank you cannot therefore go and put it in another bank without trouble and you may have to have the check reissued. Also know that they can change any of their policies at any time and I believe what I read is that they do not have to inform you. This means that the things that you thought were free are going to cost you. For example I paid for checks through the bank and they made a mistake on the address and it cost me to have it changed and they took no responsibility. You cannot use Zelle or other money transfer apps with this bank. Hard to believe but no one will believe you either if you sign up for this bank. They don't have their own. I believe there are limits on the amount of money that you can transfer out of your account each month and the total amounts that you can transfer are limited. They will hold your deposits for at least 5 days or more. It doesn't matter the amount, they will hold it. You could have $10,000 in your account and want to deposit a check for a thousand and they will still hold your money for 5 days or more. Let's say you're living paycheck to paycheck and you need to write checks or pay people off of your monthly paycheck, they will hold that money. I was signed up for overdraft and had a lot of money in the savings account but not enough money in the checking account to cover a check. Overdraft did not work for me. Ended up with a contempt of court charge and the bank admitted making a mistake but held no responsibility. They just said well we're not sure why that happened but you were supposed to have overdraft. Who cares if they have free overdraft if it does not work. You may never have problems with this bank or you may never realize what problems you could have until you come up with a situation where you need the bank to function as a bank on your behalf. When Axos does not do what they are supposed to do, and I guarantee you that imo they will never do what they were supposed to do, you are going to be hating the decision you ever used this bank. You will have no recourse because most people are just dealing with little amounts of money and this bank doesn't care, and regulators don't care, and the Better Business Bureau is a joke, and you're not going to find some lawyer to take your case that's not going to cost you thousands and thousands of dollars and they are in California or Arkansas or wherever they are and your complaints or problems are going to fall on deaf ears. Scream all you want, no one will care, caveat emptor. Yes, this bank is way too good to be true. Oh and Axos, please don't respond to this as I'm not writing this to you. People here can see through your meaningless responses. Everyone reviewing your company is doing it as a public service and not as a back door to communicate with your company. People writing here are done with you. Telling their truth on the way out. I would feel better giving my money to a Nigerian King or romance scammer before ever giving my money back to Axos. At least you can contact and talk to the scammers. I have read through all of these reviews and I'm sickened. My heart goes out to those damaged by this company. Don't tell me to contact you, I have no use for you. You can't reverse the damage you have done. All these terrible reviews and the bank is still as bad as it ever was. Axos responds quicker to these posts than they do when a customer really needs their bank to respond. Axos' presence here is more hurtful than helpful. Writing responses and telling people to call your bank to discuss the problem is demeaning to customers who already tried and are here dropping your bank and the thousands reading these reviews.

What a joke!
What a joke. I applied for an auto loan that got sent to Axos. It denied me and said I had "insufficient credit." That's a lie since I've had 24 years of credit! I'm not sure what game they're playing. Strange how some with a decent income and at least 6K equity in my care couldn't refinance. I guess I'm not good enough to get a secured loan but that notorious guy who files BK and doesn't pay his bills (Trump) gets loans from Axos. Explain that. This is a loser bank.

If i could give them a 0 i would.
If i could give them a 0 i would. Needed to get my vehical loan payment defered do to getting a new job. I refinanced with them last year to lower my interest rate. After spending an hour triing to get Hold of someone who could help me. I kept being told that it was not thier department. Finally spoke to someone and they told me no. They do not have a deferment policy. The best i could do is pay half and another ony next payment due date. After 2weeks i get an email that my full payment is late and it was being sent to collections after i made an agreememt to pay tbe differance and my regular payment. I spent 5 minutes on the phone with my other lender on another vehical loan and they defered it no problem. I deeply regret refinancing with this company. I would never recommend them to anyone. They suck. If you get something in the mail to refinance your loan thru Axos. Do not do it.

Axos will be the worst banking mistake of your life.
You are here because you are either looking to see if the hype is for real or you want to see if others have had the same bad experience as you with Axos. I'm here to tell you that the hype is a lie. All the positive reviews have been paid for, and yes, you are not alone and most others have had the same bad experiences as you. I made the mistake of trying this bank because I believed the internet lies. A sucker is born every minute and that was me when I signed up. It was fine depositing money and using ATMs if you can find one to use free. After that it is a nightmare. I will list some of the problems and can assure you I have had more. They have affected me negatively and have caused me so much stress and more than any other retail bank. At least at your neighborhood Retail Bank you can go in and have the satisfaction of having an argument with them in person and getting things worked out. You will never be able to speak to a US based customer service representative with Axos. The company has a policy to only reply by secure mail. How can this be true you are asking? Well for the most part it is. Find out yourself, but I don't recommend this. If you can figure out how to talk to a person it will be someone in the Philippines and they will not be able to assist you with anything, guaranteed. They will promise you a call from a supervisor, but on multiple occasions I have never received a call. They will say a supervisor will call you back in 24 to 48 business hours. I have never had a call back. Axos does banking by secure email means they will not return your message for at least 4 days. I assure you, they rarely reply and when they do it will be nonsensical cut and paste and you will have another 4 day window of frustration. You can't find out the information you need on their website. Everything of interest to you that will cause you problems and expenses is buried somewhere or just not even available for you to see. You can't find a number to call to get your questions answered. Carefully read their agreement, if you can find it on their website, to use their bank. They can cancel you at any time. They don't have to guarantee anything they say. Let's say you use bill pay. There is no guarantee that payment will ever arrive and this happened to me. Nearly all payments I have made with this Bank in the United States have taken over 10 days no matter what their time delivery says. They are going to blame it on the US Mail Service. Once I got a customer service rep but after over an hour I was disconnected. Actually it has happened more than once like this. Days of dealing with this problem I was forced to do a bank transfer. It ended up being costly in time and money. It's fine to read what I say and question what I did wrong with Axos to have these problems. You may be thinking I'm a PITA, until you make the mistake of using Axos and it happens to you. I read these bad reviews before I decided to use Axos. I couldn't believe a business could treat people like that. I figured the reviewers were just a complainers. Boy was I wrong. There are limits to everything with this bank. Even though what's your money, they limit the amount of your money that you can use at any time. I needed to do a bill pay to someone for $100k and they have a limit of 25k. It does not matter the amount I'm describing because if you have an emergency payment for any amount and your bank fails to do what a bank should do, meaning get your money to where you need it to go, then this could hurt you. In my experience it happens alot. So why am I still with the bank. Well it takes some time to unravel all the automatic payments you have tied to one account and the transition to another and to make sure there is enough money in both accounts while you are doing this. I'm moving back to Truist which was SunTrust. In fact I have several banks that I use both in the United States and outside the United States. It's hard to move Banks when you can't communicate with Axos and you have to wait days for a response that never comes. If you travel outside the country and need to use Axos ATM you can't get any info. Even though their cards have modern chips, you still have to message them to let them know where you will be so that your card is not denied. If you have a last minute trip or even a planned trip and they don't get back to you for 4 days or just don't bother to get back to you, you could be outside the country with no way to get money through an atm. This actually happened to me. It's a good thing I had backups. Imagine trying to get information about using their card in an ATM outside the country and they don't get back to you for 4 days or more at a time. Try to get information that makes sense on where you can use an ATM for free within the country and you will see what I mean. They have an ATM finder on their website. The amount of free ATMs are very limited. I ran out of space. Hopefully can add later.

Worst banking experience ever
I regret not listening to these reviews and I took a chance with Axos Bank so this is a warning please do not be like me! DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK!! These people and reviews are correct and here for a reason! I did not have a problem with them until I added an external account. I tried to transfer money out and that’s when it started. I kept getting the run around. Well, I never had to contact customer service until my account was suspended. They make it impossible to speak to a representative regarding an account. My Chase account got temporary locked because I linked it to Axos and they needed to do a three-way call with Axos in order to unlock my account. After several attempts Chase finally just unlocked my account because they even said they were not sure what Axos Bank had going on, but it was clear they were not going to cooperate. Axos finally gave me back access and unlocked my account but my debit card was still suspended so there was no way tor me to withdraw my money. It’s not like you can walk in the local bank and withdraw funds. I initiated transfers out of the account they went thru and cleared but somehow Axos decided to reverse the transfers and close my account. When I first started this process of wanting to close my account I had $800 available. When is called today I was told they would be refunding me $348. I asked when/how I would receive it and was told it would take 2 business days. When asked what I was waiting when two business days for The representative could not answer my question. They have not been helpful or cooperative at all. They have lot access to my account so I cannot see my transactions to know where my money went. I refused to stop. I filed a complaint with the BBB, which I read the complaints and none of them have been solved. I am writing reviews on every online resource I can to expose this corrupt bank because I have yet to see them resolve one issue. It’s not even the point of the money. It’s about making a point. What they are doing is not right and needs to be addressed. I will not stop until I get a resolution. I will go to the CEO and COO next and take legal action if necessary. I’m tired of corrupt businesses taking hard working peoples money. This is just a beginning! BEWARE OF THIS BANK!! IF YOU ARE READING THIS REVIEW YOU ARE HERE FOR A REASON… YOU HAVE DOUBT IN YOUR MIND WELL GO WITH YOUR GUT AND NOT AXOS BANK!!!

AXOS is a deeply dishonest bank that should be investigated by the federal government. My debit card was stolen and money was taken. AXOS came up with dubious explanations for why they would not uphold their federal obligation to refund my money. DO NOT trust your money with AXOS. I have lost thousands of dollars because of this poor excuse for an actual bank. I will be withdrawing my funds immediately.

What to do if Axos rips you off
See my prior review on Oct. 15, trying to get my money back from Axos on a CD that matured in August. A bank representative reached out to me by phone October 17, 2022, and by the end of the day wired the money to my local bank. It may have been the review here that did it - or the registered letters I sent to the CEO of Axos (Gregory Garrabrants) and to the COO (Raymond Matsumoto.) Their corporate address is PO Box 509127, San Diego, Ca. 92150-9727. You can also go online and complain on line to the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau if you've ever been charged a fee to cash out a CD.

They won't give you your money back!!
Don't put money in this bank - they won't give it back! Have been trying to cash out a matured CD since August! They add fees to cash out a CD (which is illegal) and drag their feet on sending the money. It's now mid-October and I'm having to pay my attorney to help get the money. This bank pulls illegal delay tactics on consumers and has terrible customer service.

I just want to use my debit card
I’m English, I have family in the UK and from time to time I want to order things online for said family from UK sites. Axos flags all such transactions as fraud and locks my card. I used to back crowdfunded projects on Kickstarter et al. Axos flags those transactions as fraud, card locked. There are a lot of legal, legitimate things I try to do with my Axos card that are flagged as fraud. This week, I accidentally pressed the cancel button during an in-store transaction. Fraud, card locked again, only this time I got no alert from them, and they’re ignoring my messages to reinstate. Recurring card payments will start bouncing, and I’m having to put other items on a credit card. This is just one issue I have with them. They reject all attempts to deposit checks in-app, they’re hard to reach, and the account is extremely low frills. I don’t understand how NerdWallet ranks them so highly. EDIT: despite replying to this review, my card is still suspended and nobody has responded to my messages. I’m opening an account elsewhere.

Look elsewhere
It's sad this bank has no help for victims if Ian. They aren't willing to help out for a month. I have my truck payment with them and was asking to differ 1 month. Answer no. My other instructions were willing and ready. I will soon be looking to refinance with other instruction. Sad.

Awful just awful
Awful just awful. It takes days to get an account set up. The website looks like it's from 1998. You cannot do anything with your online account other than view balances and transactions. I've tried twice now to get a debit card - no luck. You call customer service and you spend 15-20 minutes on hold to get help. Then they are slow as Xmas. Their virtual assistant Evo is worthless. Judging by the positive reviews I see, I think they're using SEO and paid services to combat bad ratings.

I had very bad experience and hence…
I had very bad experience and hence decided to close the account within two weeks. But even for closing the account, the bank is causing lot of troubles and nuisance and it is very annoying. Even any small bank, when asked to cancel the account, they just cancel and send any future interests as a check to the mailing address. But, here the my account has zero balance and it accrued few dollars interest and which has not been yet credited ( as the month is not over), but the customer support representative asked to transfer that to other account. I think she is a moron and asking me to transfer that to another account. How come one can transfer a future interest now? Hey Axos(UFB direct) bank, why are you always annoying customers, even when we want to get out of you? Very pathetic and worst bank and customer relations. Update[09/27/2022]:- Still proving how cheap and literally zero customer care. They said, they are going to charge $10 to send a cheque of $5 (interest accrued) to close my account. Very Very pathetic and cheap. I have opened many banks, no banks in my experience asked for any charge, even they need to send a cheque for few cents. I already said them, I don't need any interest and keep that to improve your customer support (at least provide good customer support to other customers).

Think twice before opening an account. Read the other reviews.
Think twice before opening an account with Axos Bank. I attempted to transfer money from Axos to an account at another bank. That account was closed, so that bank returned my funds to Axos, who in turn suspended access to my account due to suspected fraudulent activity. They required me to either provide a voided check from another bank or a photo of me holding my driver's license. I informed them that both methods are prone to fraud and I had already answered their account verification questions, so I would not be submitting either form of verification. I informed them I wanted to close my account and to return my funds. I was told they would forward my request to another department. After 24 hours I received an email from Axos stating that they are terminating our relationship and not to contact them again. However, there was one problem, as there was no mention in their email regarding when I would receive the funds they were holding. If this is the type of business relationship that you want with a banking institution, then good luck. I would advise against it.

DO NOT USE THIS BANK
DO NOT USE THIS BANK. I would leave zero stars if possible. This bank has antiquated technology and does not follow cybersecurity best practices. I have to download, sign, and re-upload a paper form to send an outgoing wire transfer. This goes into a black hole of the "secure message center," which means zero communication back from them to confirm the wire has been processed. It's also not possible to see what messages/files I submitted, so no ability to verify anything went through. Calling customer service means a 20+ minute call only to be told the form wasn't done correctly!

If I could leave negative Stars I…
If I could leave negative Stars I would!! Axos bank is absolutely horrible and pathetic and they actually get enjoyment out of harming their customers! I notified them immediately once I saw a fraudulent transfer and they have taken almost 3 weeks to tell me that no error has occurred and the whole time has left me locked out of my account with no access to any of my money whatsoever! When I said I want to appeal their decision on my fraud claim they told me sorry there's nothing more they can do.. what do you mean I can't appeal your decision?? I have asked repeatedly over three times to speak with the supervisor or manager and each time I'm told that nobody is available and that they will have somebody call me back within a day or two at most and not once have I received a call from a supervisor or manager!!! This Bank is just as bad as the criminals stealing day to day because when you side with criminals and you don't want to take care of your clients and customers and refund them the money YOU LET get stolen..you are a thief just the same because you were the one that said you would protect my money but if anything you let other people take it and then you try to act like there is nothing wrong quoting "no error has occurred". I will be filing police reports against the bank itself and also to try and protect my identity in the future since axos bank does not protect any of their clients and customers whatsoever!!! DO NOT TRUST AXOS BANK WITH EVEN A PENNY OF YOUR MONEY!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! SHAME ON YOU AXOS, SHAME ON YOU!!!

Axos Bank = Terrible service
I will never do business with this company again. I will be so happy when I have my loan paid off. The service sucks. It feels almost impossible to access money from my savings account from them. Limits on how much I can withdraw? Really? Where did I sign up for that? How dare you! Is this legal? So then I request a wire transfer. The money is not there yet. They send a message on my Axos phone app message Box Which says I incorrect routing number. Why not call me or send me an email? And… my routing number is correct! I am beginning to feel like it was a big mistake to trust Axos with my savings. The service has been terrible since the beginning of my relationship with them all the way around.

Worst customer support
Worst customer support. They have no idea of their own products. Not even the difference between interest and APY rates. All the emails are responded by someone in India the next day or few days later and very often you won’t get any response for your emails. You need to write back and forth to get the response. Very very annoying. You need to wait on average around 15 mins on normal day to talk to an agent. If you ask for supervisor, she will just want tocut the call and asked me to call again (seriously!!! Who wants to wait another 15 - 20 mins to wait for someone to talk and waste another 10 - 20 mins to explain the context) Poor support and worst experience. I had very annoying and worst customer experience with a customer named Victoria. I have to say everything twice or thrice to her. The system asks to enter the dob, ssn and zip code, but I have to say that again to the agent. Ridiculous!!! What a wonderful, time saving system it is!!!! Response to Axos(UFB direct) customer support:- I have already asked to close the account. I have some incoming pending funds, once that is settled and I have moved that out of UFB (irrespective of 2.61% APY. To me smooth hassle less transactions (as these banks don't have any physical locations, all online services should be smooth enough) are more important than whooping high interest rate. Same thing with other bank like Varo (worst customer experience)). Improve your app also, very very slow loading time (especially login experience) and sometimes inconsistent data rendering. I want to close out the account and get out of Axos(UFB direct) family ASAP.

Toxic banking at its best
By far the worst bank experience I have ever had in over 30 years in banking. Complete and utter fraud comes to mind. Customer service is less than zero. Axos Bank's business model is to get your money and make it as hard as possible to get it back. Business account is downright toxic. Force a change of password 4x per year and over 6 security questions to simply wire a client.

Will file FTC complaint against Axos
I was hoodwinked into opening a business checking account, due to the $200 welcome offer. Thank goodness I didn’t deposit the full $2500 required as an average daily balance to receive those funds. Because now, after the approval of an application process that took 2 weeks (and the collection of a LOT of sensitive personal and financial information), I find that that there is NO way to withdraw the funds I did deposit. Okay, did you catch that? The online platform has ZERO options to make transactions of any kind, either incoming or outgoing. The mobile app has ONLY deposit options. I was never given any option to receive a debit card. And when I linked the bank to Cash app in order to access the funds, the outgoing payment is “declined by bank.” I called two service phone numbers, and was cut off FOUR times. Let’s backtrack: it’s an ONLINE bank with absolutely NO WAY to conduct transactions ONLINE. This “bank” is a complete fraud. It’s FDIC insured? That’s horrifying. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC, BBB, and any other government consumer protection agency I can possibly find.

Christina from axos clearing is extremely stupid , she told me to transfer out from my recipient discover bank, which is illogical. Very bad site, very unprofessional staff, stay away from this bank. My mother set up a new checking account…
My mother set up a new checking account with Axos with a monthly check that she receives. She was able to set up the account online and make a 2,700.00 mobile check deposit to fund the account. Everything seemed fine she said until she was sent an email a few days later demanding additional ID verification, and documents proving her address. Astounded, because she had already been "approved" for the account and made the mobile deposit already, she still send the required ID verification to them. She sent the "selfie holding ID" and a bill with her name and address on it through her online banking account messaging as requested. They acknowledged receipt of the verification documents, then "crickets". Her account has been locked/restricted for over a month with the money from the check sitting in the account, and she still cannot access the funds (also her debit card is "suspended"). Then, just a week ago she received an email to physically mail the check she mobile deposited to the branch because they "cannot process the check manually". This is the very reason she was trying to set up a new back account, to be able to do a mobile check deposit if she needed to. I don't know what the problem is, it feels like she is being treated like a criminal for some reason. The end result is that my mother has been financially strapped due to the holding of her own money by this bank. I don't know what this banks issue is but be warned if you cannot access the branch physically then you may be in for the same situation. Normally the very same checks process right through her other bank, so I guess we will stick with that account going forward. Very disappointing and unnerving, especially for an elderly woman to have to go through. She called the issuer of the check and it has been paid out, so essentially they have the money but will not let her have access to it, very sad.

They tell you that they pay a balance…
They tell you that they pay a balance of 0.61% on savings. However when you read the fine print, they only pay 0.61 per cent on balances is up to $24,999. Once you go over that amount, your interest rate reverts to 0.25% on your entire balance. As the Fed raises rates other banks are already up to anywhere from 1% to 1.58%. There are much better places to stash your cash. Usually banks take the cash from depositors and invest it in mortgages, stocks, bonds, etc., anything stable that provides a higher return than they pay out. Well, if they are only going to pay 0.61% on balances up to $24,999 and then if you go over that amount the interest rate reverts to 0.25% on your entire balance, what's the point of putting more than $24,999 in a savings account? What a stupid business decision on their part since 0.61% is quite low right now.

Terrible Customer Service
Worst customer service ever! I will be changing banks ASAP. What other bank takes 5-7 business days to process a deposited check that is from another bank, one of the largest in the world? Mobile deposit takes longer? Okay, great, that's the only option to deposit a check. After going back and forth for a week via email I'm finally told I can request early release of funds and it can be processed within 24 hours. Why didn't anyone bother to tell me this when it would have made a difference? And no other bank ever has flat out refused to honor the name I actually use (which is part of my legal name) and put it on my debit card.

High yeild savings
*edit - they've failed to make the high-yield savings account competitive. I've pulled 90% of my money out and will most likely close my account. Look. It's a mobile bank with no place to talk to bankers in person. It's a little annoying to not be able to deposit cash but that rarely ever happens to me. I've been with Axos for a little under a year with zero problems. All my information is processed correctly with easy-to-navigate online platforms. Also, their high yield savings is the reason I have an account with them.

You used to be great
You used to be great, everything went downhill after Axos Invest and Axos Bank combined(Feb. 2021) For about a year I tried to get an issue resolved with my brokerage account, transactions wouldnt complete, I still have pending transactions from a year ago, although my brokerage account is closed. I was advised to closed the account so I could open a new one. After closing the account, which it seems i can still make changes too...yeah doesnt make sense...I am now unable to open a new brokerage account I previously wrote a great review about how much I like banking with Axos Bank and Axos Invest as separate entities back in 2019, but I can't say that in the least. As many have mentioned customer service was abysmal as the misinformation received was concerning regarding my accounts. I thought I'd finally found a bank/brokerage that would suite all my needs, but this past year dealing with them, if someone actually responded was beyond ridiculous. There was one person if i was lucky my ticket got assigned too was Melissa. How is tech support still trying to resolve an issue over a year ago w/ the brokerage accounts is beyond me, but as of this writing 1/25/2022 12:59pm Eastern...I am still unable to open a new brokerage account. They apparently also dont seem to have a way to setup all new credentials.
