Application Process

If you’d like to apply for a policy online, the first step is to enter your zip code and address into the company’s website. You’ll then need to answer a range of questions related to the property, such as the length of time you’ve been a resident.  You’ll also need to input your personal details in order to receive your quote, which you can choose to have sent to your email address. 

The entire online application process  takes 10 minutes to complete.If you would rather not complete the application process online, you can contact one of the company’s agents by phone. You can find the nearest agent by entering your address details on  Geico’s website.

Discounts

If you also have an auto insurance policy with Geico, you may qualify for discounted rates on your homeowners policy. Once you have purchased your homeowners policy, the company will apply this discount to your auto policy. It’s important to note these discounts are not available in all states.

On point service
Well there has always been good customer service, sometime the hold time is too long but they give you options. There efficient, reasonable and if you have the coverage they take care of you pronto. Spoke to a woman today by the name of Gina L. She was nothing but helpful and very kind. It's people like this that make the experience better. The car was a total loss and they handled thier business and everything went smooth. Thank you for your help guys. Our rep / adjuster Amy Allard has been great as well. We couldn't of asked for a better team.. thank you guys again. Ronald & Jason Harrell

Blake Finds Joy in Saving Geico Money
Blake was a great claims adjustor until I submitted a request for my second rental to be reimbursed.  He was rude, short, and condescending as if he felt I was trying to "get over". Well that's impossible since I pay money for my policy every month. My coverages include $50 a day for a rental car up to $1500. Well, I don't see an issue with me thinking that means up to 30 days of coverage because last time I checked 1500/50=30.  Geico doesn't cover the rental upfront because they use Enterprise and I can't use them.  They however will reimburse.  Since that is the case, I don't rent unless I absolutely need it because I am paying up front.  I needed a rental this past weekend and submitted it. I don't know if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed or what, but his good ole boy accent got really intense on this phone call as he kept telling me what he "told me" like I was some child. It's not that serious Blake, I have the money to pay for the rental obviously since I did. It shouldn't have been such an issue to advise why YOU (which he kept saying HE isn't paying for it like it comes out of his pocket) wouldn't cover it.   After the completion of another claim I have with them I will be shopping for new insurance.  At the bare minimum, the $50 a day should be covered because I have a total loss and have not got a new car yet. It hasn't been 30 days and I am waiting for GAP to settle the remaining balance before I shop for a new vehicle to add to my debt ratio. I shouldn't even have to explain that here or anywhere else. I was told to ready my policy and based on my policy all I see anywhere is 50 a day up to $1500.  I didn't see where it says one time. If it does that needs to be somewhere clearer than it is. Wherever it is, it's a bit misleading.

Do not enroll in automatic payment with geico. They use it as a platform to overcharge you without your consent and if you chose to unenroll you will receive a double charge on your next bill as a penalty for unenrolling. That means if your original installment is $300 you will be expected to pay $600 the following month. Ridiculous.

I recently got hit by someone with Geico and they said they were not able to cover the cost of repairs because they’re not covered on their insurance even though their insurance paper says they’re covered. I also just received a letter in the mail at my work with all my information on it when I did not give them my information they had my bosses phone number, my coworkers car on there and my works phone number none of my accurate information. Absolutely ridiculous.

Geico insurance is a prepaid account. However we changed to another insurance company and somehow Geico is still trying to collect for that month saying it wasn’t paid. Geico insurance says they will cancel your insurance if not paid but somehow now they are reporting to credit as a debt!

Geico is not there when you need them most
Geico is not there for you when you need them for repair after accident(even with proof and pictures) is what i discovered they are in business however to receive a payment. The claims department will most likely give you the run around and Geico has affiliates that they work with at other insurance companies who help them with their lie and run around service. They might have customer service agents that seem nice but what is the whole point if they cannot help you when its time for your car to be repaired. You will pay for years of insurance to find that you cannot get help like the intended purpose should be. My advice is to get minimal coverage (liability only and no extra services) and handle in small claims if that fails, however I do not recommend Geico at all as they are very sneaky. With any insurance company these days you have to be wise because most of them are not what they used to be, they have found loopholes and sneaky ways to deal with their customers so they can just collect and not have to repair or help when it comes time even though you don't need them often. Maybe Geico and affiliates will go out of business like safe auto, then jobs will be lost...we'll see.

Want y’all to know how pathetic it is that my rates were raised by over $100 due to “economy in my area” we haven’t had a wreck or a ticket since being with geico and y’all raised my rates? That’s BS. I can’t wait to find someone cheaper. I will be taking my 2 cars and my camper to insure with someone else I just want you to know it’s pathetic and I hope a bunch more people run away from you money hungry POS’s I’ve been using GEICO for years, such a shame y’all wanna raise my rates like this. Incompetence & NO Customer focus
I can not believe that after calling (both) customer service phone numbers and answering numerous questions, Geico then hangs up on me because they are 'not providing quotes over the phone', when in fact, I am not calling to get a quote over the phone. Additionally I am also surprised that after uploading documents to their portal and getting a confirmation page saying that the documents were received successfully and no further action is required of me, that the customer service agent then tells me that the other department is unable to read the files and so I need to resend them, but the chat window doesn't allow attaching documents!

@GEICO @GEICO_Service Talking to agent Michelle S about the sudden drastic increased monthly cost of the car insurance. Said they wouldn’t do anything other than give me crumbs in exchange for my privacy in tracking and credit. Then they ended message abruptly without chat log. Though this is becoming normal so I knew to screen shot as we went. I don’t want to change insurances but this drastic increase to an already expensive policy just because everyone else is also raising prices is not acceptable.

Never will I EVER use Geico!
A Geico customer fit our fence that provides security for our child care center. Week after week...month after month they kept stringing us along and finally when we threatened to hold them responsible if a child was hurt because of their incompetence, they finally agreed to pay. But...that's not even why I'm writing today. After not receiving a check for three months, we reached out to have them cancel and send us another check. A month after the second check was sent we had to call back again but THIS time have it with tracking. They refused. Then they said we could give them our checking info and date of birth and they would deposit it. Uhhhmmm heck NO! But that's still not why I'm writing today. Marc Pouvave who is supposedly a "claim supervisor" in San Diego, Region 4, was rude, horribly unprofessional, and a total jerk! He constantly interrupted us, did not answer our questions, demanded to know if he was being recorded (WTH???). We told him no, we're not recording you, but he continued to demand if he was being recorded...and tell us he does not give us his consent for us to record him...and he is in the state of CA...and it's illegal...and he doesn't give his consent to be recorded.... Like...OK, OK we get it! What are you trying to hide?? We're NOT recording you! How many times do we have to tell you this??? He talked over us the entire time. He interrupted us the entire time. He kept threatening to hang up on us the entire time. I was thankfully able to get his name, location, and region for the sole purpose of writing this complaint. This moron is a liability for you, Geico! If he treats us, people he's never met this way, how do you think he treats his coworkers and his subordinates? Wait...I think I hear the rumbling of multiple lawsuits against Geico!!! I will post this on every review site for Geico for as long as I have fingers to write! Congratulations, Geico, for hiring a total idiot!

I wish I could've stayed with…
I wish I could've stayed with Progressive because Geico is the worst company I've ever had. I lost wages at work because of them, I didn't have a vehicle for over a month, I was hit by a deer, 3 months later, I receive a bill for over $900 that they are saying I have to pay.....for an accident that wasn't my fault. They went up on my monthly payment, their customer service is horrible. I'm ready to let them go!

Consumers Beware. Worst Experience Ever
CONSUMERS BEWARE!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I bought a truck with modifications on it from a previous individual. I added the truck to our Geico insurance with full coverage, thinking full coverage meant bumper to bumper coverage. I was in an accident and now Geico will not pay to have my truck fixed due to the fact that I did not have extra coverage for the modifications on the truck (which I bought that way). At no point in time was I informed that I required extra coverage for modifications when I added my truck. I was told that I had full coverage and just assumed everything was good (everything was covered from bumper to bumper). It is bad enough that the insurance is through the roof right now. If I would have been informed and/or had the option at the time that I added the truck, I would have definitely added the extra coverage. This has been the worst experience ever. I am out of pocket over 5000.00 with having so called full coverage of my truck (obviously not). This has been the worst experience I have ever had with car insurance in the entire time that I have been insured. CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!! Geico will find a way to not pay your claim.

Had the policy for 10 years, and it was set to auto-renew. Never used it and no tickets. They didn’t attempt to auto-renew on the very-much-working platinum card we’ve always used. They didn’t contact us at all. We’re busy. They sent us a cancellation letter claiming we hadn’t paid. Apparently a new policy would be twice as much and take 15 days “to underwrite” with perfect credit.

I am going through such a bad claim…
I am going through such a bad claim experience with GEICO for the last two months. First I trusted GEICOs referral to an auto shop to fix my car. The shop gave an estimate for almost $11,000 for repairs I could have done for $3000-$4000. Next the shop ordered the wrong parts for my car, which were out of stock. This caused my car to be delayed in getting fixed for weeks. I have email documentation proving they ordered the wrong parts, and if they had ordered the correct parts my car could have been fixed right away. This long delay caused my rental car insurance to run out. During this time I could not even get hold of my claims andjuster. Over the last two months I have left multiple messages and spent hours on the phone with GEICO automated services and agents. I have talked with many managers at GEICO and this occupied a lot of my life. I feel that is not fair to me. One of the GEICO managers told me the shop they referred me to is completely separate from them and I could have taken my car anywhere. He took no responsibility for circumstances of my claim. I am on the phone with GEICO now (with another supervisor who is a nice guy) as I am typing this. Unfortunately the person he is trying to reach to help me with my claim can’t be reached, so he said he will have someone call me ?! Now my rental car insurance is expired, because the shop GEICO referred me to ordered the wrong parts. When I finally get my car back the car lights come on. I have to take the car back to the shop. After they fix it again the lights come on again. At this point I need to take my car to the Honda dealership because this shop could not fix my car. My Geico claims adjuster says he will get it fixed for me asap. This was Friday 1/20/23. Now I’m $850 deep in rental cars, plus I have paid my $1000 deductible. I call the Honda dealership today and they are telling me that GEICO has not even authorized them to fix my car yet. Nobody has even reached out to them from geico. So I’m paying for this rental car while my car is not even being fixed. Today is 1/23/23, I have been going through this since 11/22/22.

Totally Scam !
Totally Scam !! My car insurance was $166 per month . Before the policy ends I called Geico to update my info including to accpet the new offer for $216 per month . But after the day of payment I didn't receive any charge from Geico so I opened the app to check my balance and ended up account blocked. When I call geico they said I rejected the offer and for the new contract the cost per month will be $296 almost a 100%. Confirming Your Recent Transaction Congratulations on your recent move! This email is to confirm that we have successfully updated the address on your policy effective 01/03/2023. Your updated policy premium is $1,301.30. My one star rating goes towards the initial situation and how it was handled. The adjuster and the place that fixed my car, basically the people that didn’t work for GEICO were the only true genuine experience. The situation that I initially experienced still makes me go back and fourth about reporting the claim to BBB. It was at night time and I hit a curb turning the corner to sharp. The curb was broken up and had prongs sticking out of it. Not deflecting, still my fault for hitting the curb. However, because the state of the curb it caused my tire to explode and cause many secondary damage. In a panic I drove to an area that was as well lit as possible. I called GEICO and requested roadside assistance. I waited for over two hours, a female, at 10 pm. After another hour I proceeded to get the tow company's number from GEICO and I called them. I asked them where they were and they said their truck isn’t working. I did call them out in anger for not relaying that info as I have been standing on the side of the road alone for quite some time. They hung up. I then called GEICO back and I was advised by the representative yo LEAVE my keys in my car, find a ride and was promised a tow truck will be there shortly. Logically, doesn’t seem like a good idea and my choice was based off the fact that A. I didn’t want anything to happen to me and B. it was almost 1 am and I still had to be to work in the morning. Either way I was scared leaving my car there or leaving me there. I ended up getting a ride from a Lyft to my home. I slept for about four hours and when I woke up I call GEICO back. They never requested another tow truck! They didn’t get someone to my vehicle for almost 13 hrs. They put me in danger and advised me to do something that I shouldn’t have had to do, which is leave my keys in the car. I will never put another dollar into this company when it’s time to renew my insurance. They completely forgot about getting my vehicle and on top of that, I obviously was asked to pay double on my insurance plan after all of that. They will take your money and not consider the well being of YOU or your car. You all can do better than this insurance company.

Hey GEICO I was hit in a rear end…
Hey GEICO I was hit in a rear end collision by one of your clients. On November 10 th 2022 we put in our claim on the 11 th and from that day on we have had nothing but problems.. here is our story. starting with the wrong rental car accommodation to missing a ton of work and even being fired from a project due to our inability to perform our duties right before the holidays. We are a small mom and pop handyman company with 3 kids and to lose money on the holiday is not something we can do without major problems.. we where given a adjuster by the name of Paul. I will leave it at just Paul for his sake. Anyways paul was the only person in your company that can approve things like supplements and rental cars and everything else. Well paul has dropped the ball. And in a major way. He has never answered a single call from me.. and there was a few... He has not responded to any of my text messages. He doesn't respond to the body shop about the next step to my repairs.the body shop told him the truck was done and ready for pickup. With no response they preped the truck for pick up for it to sit for 2 weeks without a response from him. Then today comes and I get a call from the body shop saying my truck was broken in to and had 1700 dollar stereo equipment all stolen out if it!!!!.. like what else can happen here before your company can see that its costing me a ton of problems . But there is more. My truck in now been completely repaired by the body shop that he approved work on before we even knew why the car won't run. The transmission locked up in the accident and he is saying that's normal wear and won't be covered ? What is normal about being smashed in to going 50mph and now my truck won't start or drive? The body shop told me he has not approved the mechanical repairs so I will need to come pick my truck up my self and get it off their lot. He also told me how cheap this insurance company is and how this shop won't do business with geico again.. but that's been the answer I got with all the shops in the surrounding area. None of the body shops would take my repairs due to this exact reason. I was limited to 2 shops in my surrounding 50 mile radius My question is why does non of these higher end body shops take your projects. Why do I have to take my truck to a chop shop to be robbed and stolen from to have geico cover the repairs.. To me this should have been a much simpler process. This stuff happens thousands of times a week I hope not everyone is dealing with what I have dealt with over the last 2 months.. I am looking in to seeking private attorneys if you guys can not get this issue solved. Once again I will have to spend thousands of dollars to hold you guys responsible for your responsibilities. The crazy part is its against the law to not have insurance but when you pay a company to cover you and they don't you as the party at fault can still be held responsible for the damages the insurance company refuses to pay. Please get it together geico and handle my claim before it gets much worse for anyone.

I got a price quote for double the price of everyone else. And another thing they don't do anymore price quotes over the phone everything is through there website also they worse thing they have done. I would avoid them at all cost!!!! Today 1/20-2023 they made up another BS excuse saying I have a bad credit score mine you my credit score is 736... These guys are a joke stay away from these nimrod!!!! DO NOT SEND ANYMORE EMAILS!!! Never Geico again! Impossible to get your claim done.
Customer service on the Sale side is suitable for selling the policy. But when the time comes to handle claims, they drive you crazy. Their claim adjusters are very rude. Mine never answers calls. I have had the car at the body shop for the last ten days; no one has processed the claim approval. I called ten times and got a return call after two days. Last time the claim adjuster hang up on me and my body shop representative. There is no place to complain or ask for updates. You are stuck with one guy/gal who treats you however he/she wants. I am still stuck with a damaged car that is getting ruined at the body shop.

In calling I asked if they offer commercial auto insurance for hauling general freight and they transferred me atleast four times and then sent me to another company. I did not like this because I was calling Geico if I wanted to call any other company I would have done so but Geico should not be in the business to sell your information and make a buck this way.

Sneaky Charges. I substituted one new car for another of the exact same make, model and features on the same policy with the same expiration date. The only thing that would be changing on the policy would be the vin number as the original car turned out to be a lemon and was bought back by the manufacturer. Some time later I received a bill for 81.79. At first I was told rates went up then after further questioning I was told that rental and towing were added. These are specific items that I originally declined as my cars were new and came with roadside assistance. I did not need rental as I had more than one car at my disposal. I protested these charges and was told I should have read my declarations page so there is nothing they can do. Why a company would sully their reputation for $81 is beyond me but I know I would never deal with this company again because for me $81 was just the beginning of what they were capable of doing in bad faith.

Stay away from Geico insurance
I have Geico insurance. I got into a car accident on September 10th of 2022. They informed me that I didn't have rental car insurance when I know I bought every premium plan that they offered so why would I not get that rental insurance. I waited for over a month before they remembered that they did not take my car to repair shop where it set in the pound for over a month. While I tried every way possible to get to work via Uber or public transportation because I did not have rental insurance supposedly. They told me on September 16th that I could add the rental insurance. On October 10th someone stole my wife's catalytic converter off of her car. Again they told me I did not have rental insurance after I purchased it. It is January 5th 2023 and my wife's car is still in the shop with no ETA of when they will put a new catalytic converter on it and she has no rental car and we have a special needs son that she picks up from work at night and her mom is handicapped but no rental car from Geico. I pay my auto insurance 6 months at a time the car has been in the shop for over 3 months while I pay for insurance on it for nothing. They won't even return my calls they just keep saying we're going to move this higher up. Worst customer service ever. And in the meantime they have doubled my premium.

I bundled car and renters insurance through geico. Went through Geicos application process got an email with my declaration for my renters insurance. In October I had a house fire after a year and hald and made a claim. The insurance company that picked up my renters policy through geico now says they won't pay my claim because they weren't notified I lived in a mobile home.

20+ years insured with Geico. The last policy renewal the rate went up 20%, no new claims or tickets. Then 3 months into this policy we get a letter saying the rate is going up another 20%, effective mid policy period. 4 or 5 phone calls later to customer service that can not answer why the change, I give up, I'm done with Geico after 20 years. Used to be a good carrier, looks like that has changed!

Today, the app didn't work; neither did the website to file a claim. After I called & was told 20 min later I'd get a call back I waited. Over an hr later I got a call & described that I needed roadside assistance; after I confirmed the pick address for my car,& explained that neither their APP NOR THEIR WEBSITE worked to do this in writing..i got a "we don't know why it's not working/haven't heard any complaints about it not working".. Mind you, I am part of their program that follows the car on how you drive.. whatever. TWICE I HAD 2 DIFFERENT TOWING COMPANY DRIVERS CALL ME-1ST ONE CURSED ME OUT AS I HAD NOT ONLY TOLD Geico the address of the location of car but DIRECTLY called the First Class Towing Jax, FL & told them that the Buick Dealership will be closed since I got a text from Geico that stated they'd be picking up the car at 5:48 pm; & Dealership closes at 6. So I informed the towing co to park the car in the bay and put my name on the keychain in the dropbox. Yet I got a rude man who cursed at me when I explained that GEICO should've provided him with the address as I was no longer with the car but that FIRESTONE, had the vehicle. Then, after I was cursed out by their FIRST CLASS TOWING driver, I called GEICO & told them I no longer wish to have that driver who was over the top angry with me to tow my vehicle. Yet the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED THE 2ND TIME THEY SCHEDULED A DIFF towing co to tow my car. YET I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR SINCE 2010 AND PAID FOR THIS SVC SINCE THEN AND AS THIS ID not A BUSY TIME FOR THEM 12/30/2022; I WILL NOW BE DISPUTING THE CHARGE THEY CHARGED ME THIS MONTH AND CANCELLING INSURANCE WITH GEICO. All this technology.. an app, .. a website yet nothing works properly.. Spent over 2 hours on the phone w/ GEICO only have to be cursed out by the TOWING co's operators as they were NOT GIVEN THE PROPER ADDRESS to pick up vehicle. Clearly a corrupt, mismanaged and horrible co who hires the most unprofessional towing people ever. Who needs to be cursed out b/c GEICO is unable to do their job correctly? for roadside assistance! I think this is the 1st time I've actually used their svc's yet been paying for this for years.. who can reasonably continue with a company like this?????? My car was never towed; picked up due to the neglect, mismanagement & overall ineptitude and reckless endagerement of vehicles who are being towed by irate/out of control Jim Bob Joe white trash towing drivers who can't wait to put dents in your car amidst towing it to a dealership! Very bad service from the company that advertises heavily. I had a minor incident on the road and called Geico for road assistance. First, the representative told me that our insurance doesn't cover road service. I had to use another company service and they towed my vehicle to the nearest tire shop. The next day I looked up my policy and found out that indeed the road service is covered. When I submitted the claim Geico team said that we have a $500 deductible and that after they review the claim, they might reimburse me the rest of the payment for repair. OK...When I asked how long it might take, they shamelessly said that they have no idea. So...what I suppose to do? To wait a week, a month, a year??? This customer service is unacceptable. As soon as this policy is expired we will choose another vendor. Shame on you GEICO!

My first and for over 45 years, only auto insurance, belonged to Geico. In those 45 years, I handed over $140,000 for premium coverage and claimed in return slightly south of $11,000. Technologies have grown, and control over how much you spend. Auto Insurance companies are now in a price war. I was simply comparing...and choosing the best price. The adjuster made it clear I was a crook asking for a $400 return from my $139,600 purchase. I am now planning $139.600 in social media and review knowledge, with hopes to remove any positive remarks in social media and steer as many people away from this fallen company. They are not the same company I fell in love with in 1976.

Last time someone hit me they paid to get the other persons car fixed and refused my claim. It took me 10 months of working with CANDICE and Geico LAWYER to get paid my deductible back. Candice is a nightmare. She ignored my faxes that she wanted and they all went through to her. I barely drive. But no discount for that. I just got hit again on 12/10. I had to wait for the police report to make a claim. Here I am driving a car the the metal was pealed back off my door. I'm bipolar and this kind of lingering mess does not help my mental illness. Then when I made the claim today the guy told me Toyota near me does not fall in their network!!! I get all my work done there. So who knows whats next. Everyone I've dealt with is not informed about the insurance obviously! What a crock

GEICO is GARAGE EXPLOITED INSURANCE COMPANY...I had them and received a new credit card and updated it with them...some strange reason they never switch the new card to auto draft in place of the old card. My payment didn't auto draft and they cancel my insurance when the payment didn't auto draft. I was driving around for a week without knowing I didn't have any insurance until I received a letter in the mail. I called to reinstate my policy and was told I need to pay 6 months in advance. I asked them why they didn't place my new card on auto draft and I was advised that had to be done by me. I told me I able to pay the first month premium that is due and was told again it had to be for the entire 6 months. Forget that...I went with another insurance company and was covered less than 30 minutes. Martin the little green Gecko and Rick the scape goat and anyone who represent this company are poor excused for a insurance company. The reason why I am upset, because I could've been involved in an accident thinking I had insurance, when this company actual set me up to be sued by the other driver, left paying for my car out of pocket and ticketed by the police. Stay away from them...

Really awful car insurance company. They completely left me out to dry after my car got totaled despite my paying them nearly 2k a year. Customer service is awful simply because the company is so unorganized and immoral (that being said you can tell some of the agents are doing their best.) Pleaseee do yourself a favor and do not get insurance through geico, you are essentially paying for nothing haha no matter what your insurance adjuster says. I'm currently in CA, have yet to speak with anyone who has had a positive experience being insured by them.

A highly unsafe and unethical precedent set by GEICO auto insurance. -> I have been a GEICO customer for around 15 years. -> I have had No Insurance claims for the past 15 years with GEICO -> Clean Driving record -> After a brief break where I didn’t need insurance as I was overseas, I returned to United States and restarted my plan with GEICO in September 2022. -> At the time of activation of policy I CLEARLY provided answers to the question of additional drivers in house hold as not needed at this time as there were none. -> My policy got activated at the provided rate. -> According to GEICO customer service GEICO received approval to raise insurance rates on September 15th 2022. -> GEICO sends mails ( obsolete method) as king for information on additional drivers which I had already clearly provided at time of registration of policy. -> GEICO plays the technical loophole of not calling the customer or even bothering to send an email for the information needed, which had already been provided at time of policy activation. -> GEICO silently cancels the policy without any call or email which any ethical company would know is what the customer checks . -> Customer is left without coverage and is unaware of the cancellation of policy done without a simple call or email notification. -> couple of weeks later I notice the premium didn’t get deducted so logged in to account to find out to my horror the policy had been cancelled without me knowing that. -> I call GEICO to find out the reason of cancellation and I am told it was due to information on additional drivers requested via post mail. Not to forget I had already provided this clearly at the time of policy activation as this is a mandatory question. -> I ask for the policy to be restarted , this time I am given a quote 60% higher . -> at this time I realize this sleazy act was to have customers assigned the new rates, specifically the customers that had signed up just before the rate hike approval GEICO received from the government on September 15 2022. -> the customer service tells me I had just sneaked in time for my policy to get the pre hike rate. -> this sleazy , scammy and unethical act by GEICO has caused me high anxiety after learning that I was not covered until I logged into my account and saw the cancellation. -> to add insult to injury I have received civil penalties for the period I didn’t have insurance which was a very unprofessional and scam act by GEICO to target revised rates for customers. -> this is a very cheap act for a company which otherwise had a betting reputation. -> I hope higher executives at GEICO take notice of this to prevent long term loss of reputation for the company as well as damages to customers mental health.

Beware.
Beware! If you go to Safelite to have the tiniest chip or crack in your windshield sealed, GEICO reports it as a claim and it affects your rating on LexisNexis which is the consumer reporting agency for car insurance. This will increase your premium when you shop for another car insurance company for coverage. Once it is on your LexisNexis report, GEICO refuses to remove it. LexisNexis says that GEICO has the authority to remove the claim if they choose. In my case, I had a slight line in my windshield from a small rock that flew off of a truck and hit it. I went to Safelite, and they put a solution on it. I was there for five minutes. The cost was $60. Had I known that GEICO would report this as a claim, I would have paid out of pocket. GEICO does this on purpose, because their rates are much higher than other insurance companies, and they are losing customers.

My policy was set renew on 11/29/2022 at a premium of $380.17. This was a 24% increase from my previous 6 month policy that was exactly the same. Upon checking renewal of my policy. I saw it was canceled. When going to renew it after 4 hours from the orginal renewal time my quote magically jumped from $380.17 to $488.17. I had to readjust my deductible just to get it down to $380 because of your mistake. I just want to say you guys are a bunch of money grubbing worthless sacks of $h1t. And I hope the people who work on the algorithm that decide your prices, as well as the sales department know you guy's are grade A c you next tuedays. You guys are f$%&ing ass holes and what you did should be illegal. Years of loyalty just to get f$%&ed. Go f$%& yourself Geico.

Geico customer please be aware of your new upcoming renewal auto policy. I was informed by a representative of changes in my auto policy effective December. Here is what the increase are below & it goes for all Geico customers as stated by rep. 1)Medical Insurance 2)Rising cost of vehicles 3)Time to repair & replace vehicles 4)Labor Shortages What I need to know from Geico what does this changes have to do with me? I don’t have a medical condition or suffers from one to begin with. No customer medical condition should be the cost of an increase. Customer is already paying a high cost insuring their vehicle because of age, driving history & vehicles year & model. Geico doesn’t want to provide roadside assistance for vehicles over 10 years that is in good condition & driving. This is why customers go for update models vehicles to meet the needs of Geico. I find this to be unfair & cruel for those who cannot afford more than what they can pay. How many Geico customers had their vehicles repair & parts replaced? Not many; Geico required all customers to pay a deductible & still Geico pay the least for repairs. Customers still has to pay any outstanding repair charges. As for labor shortages, Geico is looking at the time a vehicle has to remain in a shop due to shortages of workers. This increase should not be pass on to customers. This is not the fault of any customers & we paid into this at a cost the moment we signed a contract with you. As a customer with for over 19 years, Geico forgot about their loyal customers. I have been ignored by Geico for the past 4years & I think it is time to say goodbye. If Geico need to keep its loyal customers, it is full time they listen to customers. I had a very frustrating experience with Geico, and I want others to be aware of how I was treated, so you can be warned before hiring them. I now know Geico spends most of their money on targeted advertising, rather than paying claims to deserving clients. I was insured by Geico from July 2017 to July 2018. Unbeknownst to me, Geico cancelled my policy due to a single speeding ticket from October that eventually resulted in a short-term suspension of my driver’s license. Geico knew about this for months yet continued to take my monthly premium. Geico says that they notified me by sending a non-USPS certified (guaranteed receipt) letter to my former apartment. I never received notice via an email or a call to my cell phone. In July 2018, I was held at gunpoint at a gas station. The criminals stole my car and wallet from me. It was an incredibly traumatic incident. I had been a loyal Geico customer, one that had never missed a premium payment. When I called Geico to report the claim, it was then that I learned that Geico had canceled my policy EFFECTIVE TWELVE HOURS EARLIER. I want others to know how Geico refused to honor my claim due to this technicality and fine print in a Tennessee state statute. Geico wants the world (especially young people who need to save money) to hire them, hence all of their millions on advertising, but they do not want you to submit a claim. If they can find a way to get out of paying you, they will. They spent thousands and thousands on legal fees fighting against me for 4 years versus doing the right thing and paying my auto theft claim. Please consider this before choosing Geico. Very disappointing.

Last September I used Geico app to renew my auto insurance policy, on time! I made changes to my policy as needed and then made a payment, or I thought I did. 2 months later I tried to log into the phone app again and it told me I didn't have a current policy with Geico! We've been driving without car insurance for 2 months and they didn't tell me a thing!!! I called but they have no more phone customer service. Best I could do was to chat with them online. They told me the payment was not posted so they cancelled my policy. I asked to re-instate it and they said they did not re-instate CA policies anymore. They said I had to apply for a new policy as a new customer. They were pretty short with me. I asked for a supervisor and the lady by name Tyndesha said, "sure, we have phone customer service, here's the number 800-841-3000". I called and sure enough there was nobody to talk to, just an SMS with the link to the same chat again, catch 22! I can only imagine what would've happened if I needed their roadside assistance. Come to find out they abruptly closed all their CA offices so Californians beware! "GEICO abruptly closed all of its physical sales offices in California last week, telling its customers that its insurance policies in the Golden State from now on exclusively will be handled digitally through the insurance giant’s website or by using its mobile app. The office shutdown, which according to several reports was accompanied by “hundreds” of layoffs, involves 38 offices across the state. At the same time the physical offices closed, the company said it was ending the practice of selling policies through telephone agents in California." Bottom line is: I'm gone to AAA insurance, totally different service. Geico is dead to me.

Beware, scam claims are legit
I Have been forced to agree that there is something very scam-like going on with Geico. Recently vandalized car left me with a dead clunker, made the report, made the claim. Nothing for days so I decide to chat support only to be told that I've some how never had insurance for the car. Never mind my Proof cards having it and all renewal emails showing it but conveniently it vanished after a claim was made. Likely due to lawyer cost being much higher than the cars value. They lost a customer over $500.

What’s up with the car insurance when it’s not your fault?!
After I was in a hit and run, my claim was noted not at fault. After going to the repair center, I was told the car needed to be left that day. I wasn’t on a rental car reservation and decided to bring the car back in a few days. Calling in regarding the process, I was told I had to pay my deductible up front and then they reach out to the other companies insurance to recover the deductible. What kind of insurance does that? I provided the trucking company of which the semi after taking pictures, since he wouldn’t stop. I was told to file a claim with the company myself. Doesn’t the insurance do that for you? Trying to go after the company after I paid $1k, seems like BS. Customer service said “we try hard” to get that money back to you as well as car rental fees. That doesn’t sit well with me. I wish I stayed with State Farm but it was double the cost, but they do handle everything for you before hand not after the fact.

I am glad that there is such a thing as online reviews. Geico is supposed to be known for good customer service. Well the customer service I received was awful! I have been using them for a lot of years, you would think I would have been treated well.it was just the opposite.there commercials look like there was effort put into them. The effort I received was awful. By the way the commercials are not funny.I called and spoke to a rep.and asked how I could save on car insurance, she said have your kids take defensive driving you will save 400.00 a year, for 3 years.so they took the class. When I got the certificate I called Geico to find out when the discount would start. The other rep. Told me you were told wrong information your not going to save anything. He said the rep made a mistake. So I was out 1200.00 dollars.after I made about 25 calls I spoke to a supervisor named Lorraine from Woodbury Long Island. She said she can’t give me 1200.00, that I was supposed to get but she will refund me 100.00 for the course.the next day she went on a 3 weeks vacation and never sent me the check.so I called 10 more times. The next supervisor said he will send me the 100.00 check overnight. SURE it took 2 weeks. It must have been a long night. The company stinks and has terrible customer service.

First of all, I should have NEVER switched from Allstate. To keep this short and sweet, another adult 18+ years of age, was added to my policy without my permission. We live at the same address but have absolutely no relation by blood or marriage. BY THE WAY... he has been insured by another company for 3 months now. So I had to go out of my way to remove him and send them proof of his insurance. Pure insanity. This is on top of the fact that after 6 months of being with them they increased my premium by $100.00!! They stated that I had a $2000.00 claim 2 years ago when I was with Allstate. Ummm....you never said anything about this when I signed up for your coverage. I have NEVER had a ticket. Okay, once, but that was over 10 years ago for a non moving violation!!!

That’s fantastic. Years go by, but then you catch him one day taking more money out of your bank account without your consent. Just great, you get a divorce and then you meet another great guy and switch over to him (that guys name could be the name of any other insurance provider) and then the cycle repeats itself. To explain this metaphor, through the years I would switch between 2 different insurance companies because they would raise my rate, and when I’d go to the Boyfriend, he’d offer me $150 less of of the same liability policy that the Husband (Geico) would offer. Then after a year or 2 would pass, then I’d go back to the husband because the boyfriend would do that same exact thing. Do you believe that the Husband and the Boyfriend are closely working together, and they talk with each other behind your back whenever you switch your insurance? One thing is certain, that no matter which man (insurance company) you choose to stay with, they are all after one thing and don’t have your best interest in mind!!! I trust you agree!!!

We been with Geico for over 35 years
We been with Geico for over 35 years. They kept raising our rate for no reason at all. They raise twice within a few months. Nothing from our end that would cause the increase. No tickets or claims for 7 years. The increase ended up at 100 extra a month on top of our high rate we had been paying. Use to be a great insurance company. We had to cancel and go elsewhere for insurance.

Complete scam. Three claim adjusters reached out all with different stories and outcomes. The roof of my trailer was damaged due to wind and separated during towing which is covered under the plan but they denied my claim because I don’t Calk my entire trailer even if not needed yearly. The manufacturer suggest inspecting every three months and caulk as neededI I do regular inspections and constant maintenance on my trailer. My claim was denied not only will I be canceling my auto insurance also my home insurance through Geico. What’s the point of having insurance if they try to weasel their way out of paying claims. Say goodbye to a long time customer who has never filed a claim.

After being with them X22 yrs, Homeowners went up from $1800/yr to $3500 from 2020-2022. Uses only one company to write policies in AZ. No competition . Auto was ridiculously overpriced I found out, after looking for another homeowners policy. Apple to apples my homeowners went down to $1,100 yr. My auto went from $950 to $330. For identical coverage with top rated co. We are 60 years old.

Worst insurance company to trust in…
Worst insurance company to trust in need of coverage. It's obvious to see by all the reviews before mine...I paid Geico $380 per month for coverage of only 2 vehicles. An incident occurred, and the service of the adjuster was so horrible. Lack of communication, excuse after excuse about why the claim wasn't complete yet. Horrible experience. I will never trust these people again.

Was treated with racism. Called roadside assistance telling them I was in Georgia and I got raped. The black lady laughed when i called about problems with car. Then I called roadside assistance and the black lady said I didn't have roadside. My car was towed and I was raped in GEORGIA. I paid $110 just to have roadside. Allstate is the bomb. It's half the price. REPORTING TO THE BBB AND VONDUMER PROTECTION AGENCY

I can't stand geico. They talk about saving people money but Every time I had to renew my insurance my bill would go up. I understand inflation is going on But the reasons for raising my bill because other people in my area? It just sucks when you're trying to do the right thing and try to make your bill cheaper and yet that's the reason they give you.. It's wrong for any insurance company to do that I might not know everything but I think that's robbery. When I would try to see what I could do to lower my bill they wouldn't work with me but then the day I called to cancel it they wanted to talk business than.

Terrible Service in the End
Geico was okay for a while, but several things happened that made me feel like I was not valued or appreciated as a customer. The first thing is that my rates went up by about $30 per month. This is insane. I get that you need to adjust sometimes to keep the coverage reasonable for people but $30 is ridiculous! Why would you do this right in the middle of a recession?? Do you not care how this would affect others? I found it to be a very greedy and selfish move on your part so shame on you. The second reason is because I was signed up in Bank of America auto pay for Geico. NEVER AGAIN!!! Once the rate went up, I was kicked off the policy because it wasn’t the right amount. I was double charged. They did send a refund luckily for the original amount, but it was a HUGE HASSLE figuring out why I was kicked off the policy In the first place. On top of that, I was never told I needed to cancel the Bank of America auto pay since I was told by a Geico agent that I would not be charged again, so it did not cross my mind. Luckily a refund was issued to me on that. Last but not least I tried to get on with a manager about keeping the rates down. My mom was on the call trying to help me out (I have Asperger's and struggle with this stuff) and when she started talking the guy was very rude and told her that he was not talking to her, that he was talking to me instead. I found this behavior very unprofessional. I got frustrated and when my mom tried to explain my condition, he wouldn't listen and hung up like an a**hole. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I was able to get coverage with the same package for the same price at Liberty Mutual for $30 less a month. The way I was treated was absolutely unacceptable too and I hope you lost a lot of customers with your rates going up. Rates should NOT have gone up by such a significant amount, especially with how high the cost of living has become. Rethink your policies and the way you treat customers because if this happened to me, it’s probably happening to a lot of other people too. Perhaps you should spend a little less on advertising that stupid gecko in your commercial and instead put some money into training your employees to be more helpful and more importantly, RESPECTFUL to their customers.

When your adjuster is a DISASTER…
This is a review based on my recent experience with GEICO and specifically an adjuster named Dave Harris (hi Dave — you knew this was coming). It’s gonna be long because I wanted to include all the important details and for the record — I never write bad reviews, I think it’s a waste of time. But THIS… well, it was too much of a fail for me not to share. My Mercedes GLC300 was at a repair shop for a damaged front bumper when the shop got flooded. My car’s engine took water and the shop took it to a nearby Mercedes dealership to seek their professional advice on the status of the car and its possibility to be repaired. When I spoke to the shop, they told me they recommend that the car is deemed a total loss, and Mercedes reconfirmed that same information a few days later. GEICO’s adjuster Dave Harris was nice at first, but quickly stopped communicating with me, ignored my messages (“I didn’t get anything”) and overall personally contributed to me bearing significant financial losses in this process. Dave estimated the car’s value (~31,000) and said that it’s too high for it to be a total loss — and the repairs will be way less than the car’s value. He said they can arrange for a replacement of an engine — either a used engine (4k) or a refurbished engine (5k) and I will be good to go. When I asked if I would be able to sell the car when the time comes, I was assured that it wouldn’t be a problem. Now mind you — it’s the first car I financed; and I never had to deal with a flooded car (hopefully won’t ever again) and I really did not know what the process would be like. I sought professional advice from multiple people — who used to work in insurance, who fix European cars, car sales reps, and everyone told me it was insane that he would not total the car. I was lucky to get a connection at the Mercedes’ dealership and they told me to move my car there asap so only Mercedes’ handles my repairs. Then additional damage was found, and here let’s do the math (Dave — get a pen and a paper). The engine that was installed into my car by Mercedes’ was 26,000 — yeah guys, these engines are not meant to be 5k, the initial repairs were 3,800, and here we’re getting painfully close to 30k. I asked Dave again if he believed at that point the car was going to be a total loss and he insisted that it wasn’t. So when they found that extra additional damage — let’s just say that GEICO ended up spending well over 31k which was the estimated value of my car. Great job, Dave! I’m sure GEICO was delighted to have to spend 31k on a car that was still sucking out more money out of them! Oh by the way when I spoke to Mercedes’ techs explaining what was going on and why my car was being brought to them — they said “Please don’t tell us your adjuster is Dave Harris?” Whoa, Dave, you’re famous! He also took his sweet time coming to the dealership knowing the repairs were being held off due to additional damage found — KNOWING that I was out of my rental coverage and was paying for my car rental out of pocket (which ended up being almost 1k). When brought to his attention, he said that GEICOs policy. And when later on I asked him why he would not tell me that selling my car with a bad CARFAX and a used engine stuck into it “wouldn’t be a problem” he responded with a “well, it’s not IDEAL…” Oh? Zero work ethic, zero professionalism, zero care for customers — I don’t think GEICO is looking to associate with all that? In short, Dave Harris is an individual who continuously insisted on not totaling the car (oh did I mention that other GEICO representatives also told me it should have been totaled? Yeah Dave, you rock). He personally caused me to spend a lot out of my pocket (rental, two deductibles, still selling the car that should have never been sold or driven by anyone again). It could have been so easy, yet Dave was the person who made it difficult for everyone. The repair shop, as well as Mercedes’ dealership reasoned with him that it wasn’t the right decision but hey, what does Mercedes’ know about their cars, right? So that being said, not only did he fail to do his job properly, I will also be looking to switch to a different insurance company. Yeah Dave, extra points. It’s a shame that GEICO has representatives that are such a fail. If they’re your insurance company — honestly, pray Dave Harris will never be the person you deal with. If you’re shopping for insurance, please don’t chance it. I also know of two other people whose cars got damaged in the same flood — one of them being a 200+k car, and both were totaled by GEICO. So it’s not so much the company as a whole but it’s specific employee(s) and I was probably just “lucky”. Yeah people I tell this story to can’t believe the car wasn’t totaled. Everyone is a in total disbelief. Hope this was helpful. Hope GEICO does something to fix this mess but then again, they already lost me as customer.

SO UNBELIEVABLE THAT SHE SPOKE TO MY MOTHER-N-LAW THAT WAY ITS SO SAD....((AND ALL CALLS ARE BEING RECORDED)) what they put my poor mother-N-law through is just wrong on so many levels...She was involved in a hit & run almost a month ago her car was just taken from tow truck & still hasn't been appraised. They haven't investigated the accident at all they told her she has rental on her policy give her a rental then tell her she needs to bring the rental back & she has to pay it all. She has full coverage & has never been in an accident before they told her there not giving her a penny for her car after they towed it for an appraisal told her it was free now she has to pay for everything after telling her everything is all set it's all taken care of then tell her the cameras weren't working at the intersection when they're ALWAYS WORKING there's a bank across the street that has 24hr recording cameras they can get a warrant yo collect the video footage but they're too busy to send anyone there to do that & even told her even though she'been with GEICO & has been paying full coverage for 20yrs she's not covered on a hit and run because geico can't do their job told her her car will get towed for no charge to get appraised then turn around & tells her the next day after her car was towed that her car isn't being appraised its actually being auctioned off now & she has to pay for the tow now plus the rental fees & all of her medical bills etc.... they took absolute FULL ADVANTAGE OF HER & after telling her everything is all set she doesn't have to pay anything now she has to pay everything out of her pocket it's absolutely so unbelievable what GEICO did to her DO NOT CHOOSE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY ..... when they told her, her policy has accident forgiveness, rental coverage, medical bills etc... now they turn around & tell her even though she pays for FULL coverage now NOTHING is covered.... DO NOT PICK THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!! My mother n law is beyond upset, she had an anxiety attack, she's beyond depressed now, and her mental health is so off balance now after telling her everything is all set she doesn't have to pay a thing then turns around and tells her she had to pay for everything now and my mother in law said well there's no money on my account and Stephanie said well will overdraft your account so one way or another you'll be paying for itone way or another!!

Shifty Customer Service
Something weird with this company. They had been avoiding reimbursing me for a towing cost for 40 days. Finally, I complained enough that they finally sent me a direct form for the covered reimbursement. I asked the representative, why am I only just being sent this now if this was possible all along? The representative quickly made up some bizarre excuse that she was making an exception for me (even though other agents previously confirmed the whole reimbursement total would be covered) and swiftly hungup. I was baffled. They deflected from any idea that they were holding my money from me, so I can only assume that was their goal all along. They probably bank on customers forgetting about reimbursements they are owed. This has shattered my experience with Geico, and I will now be advocating for others to switch their insurance as well so they can avoid this immature and unprofessional & experience. Wow, I even just gave another phone call to let them know I'd be leaving a poor review and would be switching insurance unless they wanted to dissuade me and justify the experience. The rep was super rude and just turned it all around on me. I asked her to look at my history with Geico, but she was not interested in getting my policy number to so do. She mentioned that she didn't have it to check, but when I explained that she never asked for it, she still never did. Obviously, getting the policy number and checking my history with Geico meant nothing to her. Yikes. Sad and disappointed with this experience. Been a long time with Geico. Will need to look elsewhere.

Paid them over 50k over the last 16 years never making a claim and was thanked by having my rate raised 39% for “inflation in Maryland”. Switched to NJM and now I have Car/home owners/ and an umbrella for less the just Geico auto insurance.

Geico is the worst insurance company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Let me compare Geico service to another insurance company to fully illustrate just how awful their service is. I switched from USAA to Geico 6 years ago when I got married. I had been with USAA for probably 15 years and had always been happy but getting married it made sense to put us both on the same policy. My premiums have always been paid on time and in my 32 years of driving I have only had 3 insurance claims, one of which is the reason for this review. I was driving home when out of nowhere a large deer jumped in front of my car that I had just purchased. I literally made the second payment on the car the day before the accident. I had the car towed back to town and began the nightmare of dealing with this insurance company. Even though I was the one in the accident they have never spoken with me, only my husband. They have never even asked if I was injured. When we asked about a rental since I still need to be able to get to and from work was told we didn’t have that option on our policy. A week later we finally started getting communication saying that my car had depreciated in value $5,000 in two months, the tires were bad, and the car was “mostly clean”. This is a car didn’t have a scratch on it prior to the accident. This car looked like it did the day it left the dealership. They sent us comps that not only were not even in the same part of the country, but the comps booked more than what they were offering us until they did some magical math to make every car worth less than what they dealerships were asking. So now it looks like after years of collecting premiums and safe driving when I need my insurance company to live up to our agreement and cover my car they are not going to. I will be out not only the $2,000 I out down but the $2,000 to license the car and still owe another $2,000 on the car loan. Let’s compare the customer service from Geico with USAA. About 10 years I was involved in a hit and run accident with a drunk driver. USAA handled everything! Their first question was “Are you ok”? They arranged for my car to be dropped off at the repair shop of my choice and arranged for a rental car. All I had to do was sign for the rental car. They made what was a scary, terrible situation feel like I wasn’t alone, like we were part of a team and in this together rather than the Geico situation where I am having to fight for them to cover anything.

Renew premium increase 40% . I called to negotiate price. They say no, just suggested to raise deductibles. Yes, I have claim, for windshield replacement, and representative I talked about this issue insured me that my premium will not be affected. And now it is up 40% . Very disappointing, huge regrets that I left progressive with whom I've been 2 years, they never done something like this.

Had them for 18 years, they have gone down hill. Rate hikes twice in two months almost $200 more for a 6 month policy. Not worth it anymore. Go to USAA, or State Farm way cheaper same coverage. 18 years I filed a handful of claims, a couple of weather and one windshield. You call to speak to them and all you get is well sorry nothing we can do call us back in 6 months... Call back in 6 months.. I gave you 18 years of loyalty and you have nothing else. It horrible because they used to be good with military, USED to be.

Scammer like tendencies
First off, I only chose Geico because they initially gave me a quote I would save money vs. my previous insurance company’s quote. The agent told me I HAD to add my partner she did not ask me if I was married she just said I had no option I had to add him. Then she says that it will be $300 more than the previous quote they gave me bc he got a ticket in 2020. Ok so I try to take him off and they said I had to then pay an extra $250 because he was saving me money. Then I say ok we’ll just don’t take him off then because it doesn’t make sense to pay more with him off of it. She already took him off so I couldn’t go back I’d be charged $250 next month. Confused? Yeah me too. Another issue I had at the same time is that I tried to add my brother to my policy with his own vehicle but the agent at the time said it wouldn’t let them add him bc his drivers license was not active (it was and is active) she said she would figure out what was wrong and give me a call back at a specific date and time. I didn’t get a call back. Then I see on my Geico app that I have a payment due next month for ~$220. I make 6 month payments ahead of time I shouldn’t owe them a cent. So I call and looks like the agent went ahead and added him without telling me, no email, no call, nothing! He got his own insurance through Allstate. I totally gave up on putting him on my insurance bc she never called me back anyway. The agents are not clear and that can cause lots of issues as you see here. Train your agents better, be transparent, and stop over charging people.
