The add-ons available on your policy will vary according to your agent. When we requested a quote via the online system, we had the option to add the following:

Covers against expenses incurred if you fall victim to identity type of fraud.

  • Equipment breakdown 

Covers against loss or damage to household items caused by electrical and pressure system breakdown.

  • Service line protection 

Covers the repair or replacement of underground pipes or wiring.

As well as homeowners insurance coverage, Geico also provides property insurance for renters, condo and co-op residents, mobile home owners, and landlords. 

Application Process

If you’d like to apply for a policy online, the first step is to enter your zip code and address into the company’s website. You’ll then need to answer a range of questions related to the property, such as the length of time you’ve been a resident.  You’ll also need to input your personal details in order to receive your quote, which you can choose to have sent to your email address. 

The entire online application process  takes 10 minutes to complete.If you would rather not complete the application process online, you can contact one of the company’s agents by phone. You can find the nearest agent by entering your address details on  Geico’s website.

Discounts

If you also have an auto insurance policy with Geico, you may qualify for discounted rates on your homeowners policy. Once you have purchased your homeowners policy, the company will apply this discount to your auto policy. It’s important to note these discounts are not available in all states. 

Depending on the insurance agent, you may be able to lower the cost of your coverage if your home has smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, or a home security system.

They Owe Me A Refund & Keep Giving Me The Run Around Because I Canceled & Went To Pemco...$148.00 Cheaper Then Gieco & Got The Same Policy...I Think They Are Mad & Won't Return My Refund Because I Found Someone Better.     My mother is 90

    My mother is 90, and deaf, when i set up her policy, in the notes i had her approval Now she is set up on auto pay, the current payment had a issue being processed Now all of her information regarding her policy comes to my email,.My sister and i also had renters insurance with geico.And i also have 2 policy with them,I have my mothers credit card and I'm trying to find out what's going on with the policy, i have all her information DOB,SS, POLICY #,I asked the so called customer service drone for help, again they could not do anything? Okay i have her credit card, to pay on HER policy they cant help,with out her approval which was given at the time the policy's went into effect I also suggested that to verify who i say i am to look at MY 2 policy's,,AGAIN I'm using her card for HER policy, really its the same credit card that i put on her auto pay.So folks if your 90 deaf and your children try to help,it isnt going to work,im canceling my 2 policys, as well as my mothers,Customer service my but.

    I had been insured with GEICO for about…

    I had been insured with GEICO for about 15 years. We had 3 vehicles on our policy and sold one. I tried deleting the vehicle on the website. The next day the vehicle was still on my policy. This happened about 3 times and I finally called the office. The girl told me that she could not get the vehicle deleted either but would put in a work order and for me to call back in a week. Called back in a week, a different person tells me that he can't delete it either but will put in a ticket (whatever that means) and they would call me when the problem was resolved. At this point it had been almost 3 weeks since I sold the vehicle. After 1 week of not receiving a call back and the vehicle still on my policy. I called again and I said why is it taking so long to get a car deleted from a policy? They had no answer and made me feel like their attitude was, sorry, we don't know what we are doing so I guess you will just pay insurance on this car forever. Called Progressive that day, got a much better rate and cancelled my policy. ALSO, a few years ago a lady insured with GEICO came speeding down the main road in my neighborhood, lost it and rammed through a rock wall and into my bedroom, even sent the bed flying across the room. It took several weeks to get this settled because the GEICO claims adjuster said that they had been unable to reach the owner of the vehicle that rammed through my house. So, I asked, "SO you are you telling me that if this person refuses to return your calls and make a claim, you are not going to do anything about half of my bedroom being in the front yard?" What he said next floored me. We have to talk to our insured so we can determine fault. Are you serious, she ran through my freeking bedroom wall whose fault do you think it is? My house? Ridiculous.

    Geico agents lack knowledge …

    Time to cancel my Geico policy after yet another poor customer service experience. 1. In June, my battery wouldn’t start so I figured why not use their app. Bad idea because everything you’d expect to transfer over didn’t so I ended up calling the tow company and handling it myself. 2. I call in to shop rates on a renewal. The associate asks if I have an affiliation with Berkshire Hathaway so I can receive a discount. How am I supposed to know whether I do. The geico associate certainly didn’t know so I didn’t get the discount. 3. I use to handle insurance claims and coverage issues so when I told the associate what coverage I wanted the associate began to educate me as to why it couldn’t be done. I knew better than to accept a canned response so I explained I understood insurance coverages and I didn’t need to be educated why I wanted a specific coverage. The associate became upset and condescending. I realized geico wasn’t for me anymore when their associates have no clue how coverages work. 4. Even after explaining their rates for same coverage was significantly higher than Progressive, I told the associate I wouldn’t be renewing but the associate sent over a renewal binder. Upon review of the binder, the rate quoted on the phone was different than the binder. Overall, geico will keep spending millions on commercials but losing millions of customers. It pays to shop around even a caveman can do it!

    BEWARE OF GEICO

    BEWARE OF GEICO. WE HAD GEICO FOR 49 YEARS! MY MOM PASSED AWAY, AND DESPITE THREE PAYMENTS THEY CANCELLED MY INSURANCE WITHOUT ANY NOTICATION. CHOOSE A COMPANY THAT PROVIDES CUSTOMER SERVICE Geico did not arrive on two separate occasions for their so-called roadside assistance. I was broadsided by anther Geico driver. Geico said I was at fault, yet they refused to provide me with a report or an explanation. I reported to Geico and Travelers on 10/22/20 that my mother had passed the day before. On April Geico cancelled my insurance without any notification. Both my mother and I had been Geico clients for 49 years! My mother, Eileen Raymond and I were both enrolled on the same policy with Geico for 49 years. On 10/21/2020 my Mom passed away. I reported her passing to Geico on 10/23/20. I said that both her bank account and credit card were cancelled, and I provided my new direct payment to Geico through my bank account. Geico assured me that everything was completed, and that there would be no interruption in future payments to Geico. On April 20, 2021 I received an email addressed to my deceased mother. It stated that they were unable to withdraw $734.20 from my mother's credit card, which of course I had reported to them as cancelled. I called them and made another payment through my credit card. They assured me that the payment was made and my auto insurance would continue. On April 24, I again received an email sent to my mother stating that unless payment was made, my insurance would be cancelled on 5/4/21. Once again, I called them and they said my mother's death had not been reported. Once again, I reported my Mom's passing. Once again, they assured me that the payment had been recorded by Geico. On Thursday April 29, I received a letter to my mother stating that unless Geico received a check by Monday, May 3 our insurance would be cancelled. Although I knew that Geico would probably not receive the check by then, I still complied. On April 30, I called Geico. They told me that my insurance was already cancelled and offered a new policy for $902. I asked them if I had been driving without and auto insurance and they said yes! I contacted State Farm and their insurance for the same policy was $904. I did speak with some manager at Geico who told me that regardless, Geico should not have cancelled me, but should have continued the insurance until October. I chose State Farm because Geico gave me no customer service, and offered no resolution. Instead of Geco offering condolences, they penalized me by trying to raise my premiums by $168. Geico is responsible for the return of my check payment. Geico is responsible for my increased premiums. Geico cancelled my insurance without any notification. Consequently, I had been driving without insurance which is in non-compliance of the State of Maryland laws. Geico has refused to allow me to contest or even discuss the above situations. I have been repeatedly informed that I have the right to initiate a complaint, and also the right to request a review, or make an appeal. Geico has relatedly violated my rights as a policy holder by refusing to address my complaints. Geico no longer seems to be interested in customer service or client's rights.     Unconscionable business poor ethics

    Our daughter sold her car and is looking for another. We decided to see what it would cost to add her to our insurance. Called GEICO to get a quote but it would have more than doubled our premium so we said no thanks. The representative on the phone said she has to add her anyways because she has a drivers license and she is living in the same house that is their policy. We said no, but she did it anyways and now our insurance payments have more than doubled and our insurance costs more than double what the car payment is. We can’t afford it my wife was in tears.This is a terrible cold hearted business that doesn’t care about people only profits. In these bad times to have a company do this to you is unconscionable. How can they get away with doubling your premium because you ask a question. Stay for away from this company and whatever you don’t don’t ask for a quote because that’s not what we got, our question cost us almost 3000 a year.

    I worked hard as a teacher to keep up with every payment, but this merciless company cut me no slack after one missed debit, during a time of crisis. Their negative reports followed me everywhere, disallowing me discounted rates and perks.     Trust everything you hear...

    Trust everything you hear about how horrible this company is. Granted, they are an insurance company and could care less about reviews, so that gives reviewers the all clear to go in on them and just how bad they are. Horrible at everything from dealing with customers, lying claims adjusters who could care less about how something negative in the process affects you. Have approved locations for repair work but don't follow through on anything. Management who is non existent because they don't care. Period.

    Beware - They file claims without your permission!

    They filed a claim on my behalf and without my permission and they will not remove it. I called in to ask a question about my coverage for glass damage and when answering "a couple questions before we get you to an agent" those mother ______ took that little detail I gave them via their automated service and filed a claim on my behalf. That is now part of the public record and has increased my premiums when I try to work with a new company. I can't believe that this is legal, and will do my best to try to find a way to report this behavior to the authorities.

    I was with geico for 28 years both auto and homeowners. When COVID hit Geico checked out of its excellent Customer service into a billing nightmare. I never missed a payment yet they out of the blue billed 599.00 one month and then go back to regular payments. Of course I asked questions and no one could explained or give a reason or say what that amount was for. I canceled my policy and am now with State Farm. Geico is an awful company now. I don’t know what happened, perhaps their data breach was the beginning of the end of a good company! No matter! they are no longer trust worthy and I would do some research before giving them any business. Customer service has no idea and you never get the same person. Explanations are never the same and no one really knows their job at that company.

    I've experienced better.

    I've experienced better. So today, I've experienced the most ruthless Customer Service from GIECO ever. As a customer paying for a high premium you will get treated like a rat. Short story short, turned on the car with the A/C on, put the dog in the car with all of her toys and her bed getting ready for a roadtrip we close the door so that the nats/flies don't come into the car. And upon closing the door the dog jumps up to see where we went and she locked the car doors. Now once we noticed, we got on the GIECO app to call GIECO Roadside and we stayed on hold for over 20 minutes to then late on call the local PD to have them bring a lockout kit since most PD's have them. Once we noticed we never got off of hold from GIECO we reported the issue that we got locked out of our car from the app and GIECO cancelled our request. One major annoyance is that when you call GIECO Roadside you have to relay all the information, from policy number to what vehicle it is. If I call Roadside from the app. The App should import all my information. I shouldn't have to tell an automated AI my information when you have it already. This spent at least 5 minutes responding to this horrible AI. PD and Fire came, and once they arrived we opened the door with a metal fishing line cable. Soooo glad that GEICO were with us... with this expensive premium (sarcasm). Imagine if someone was in a forest with 5% battery... You'll either spend 1 hour on hold or have your request cancelled. You'd be out of luck with GEICO nowhere in sight because they don't care about you. Call 911 instead... a free service that isn't tied to your premium.

    Misleading quote process

    Everything was great during the quote process- they sent me an email with an official 6 month quote after spending 20 minutes on phone call #1 discussing my policy and premium with a GEICO rep. The final quote email stated "Below is your auto insurance quote. Your 6 month rate is $XXX.XX. You can start your policy today by simply calling (phone number), and providing your reference number". Great! I gave them a call to provide payment and finalize the policy. I was asked to provide my credit card number, which I did. Unfortunately, ONLY AT THIS POINT did the representative proceed to tell me that unfortunately due to records their system just pulled up, they could not honor the final quote and that my rate was **$450 HIGHER** than the policy they just took my credit card number for. I did not see this coming. It did not help that the rep's response was condescending toward my confusion. I asked to speak to a supervisor, not about the the rep's demeanor, but about GEICO's misleading quote process. The rep said that I was welcome to speak to a supervisor, but (and I quote) "that any supervisor, the Director of Geico, and even the Owner of Geico would tell me the exact same thing." I understand that there is fine print involved with insurance quotes, and I understand that insurance companies have the right to set rates at their discretion. But please don't put me through an extensive quote process, tell me I'm approved for the policy at a certain premium amount, take my full credit card number, and then increase the premium price by 55% after you take my credit card. I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but thought it was important this time to share my experience to save others from potentially wasting their time and effort.

    I was once a client of Geico until I found out they don't like to pay the claims. They will do everything to avoid paying anything, I had a 2017 corolla, I ran over an lose object on a highway and it affected the transmission sensors, I took my car to Findlay Henderson, Nevada to get it fixed. They took 2 weeks to act on it, they decided to replace with an old ,used transmission , the lady handling the case was so rude and stupid. In addition, Geico never paid for the parts that don't come with the transmission. The Toyota representative was really disappointed and felt offended by Geico, It's a cheap company that will do anything to avoid its obligation. Since then, I talk bad about them and I made 7 friends change to another insurance company.

    Already stressful event made UNBEARABLE.

    Well, unfortunately, 1 star is the minimum, but here we go. In May, I was involved in a non-fault accident; no injuries, both cars totaled, the other driver was also with Geico. Every SINGLE step I have had to take to resolve and move on from this has been absolutely bungled in one way or another by Geico. Here is a chronological list. 1. I informed the agent that I needed a rental car the following day (I was rear-ended on a Friday), and was informed that I would have one the following day. I go down to Enterprise the following morning, and it turns out that the paperwork was submitted for me to receive the rental on Monday. Thankfully, the folks at Enterprise are wonderful and secured me a rental for Saturday. I do not in any way credit anything Geico could have done for this; I solely credit Enterprise for this fortunate turn of events. 2. I began financing a new car the day before my billing was set to go out (I used AutoPay for the discount), and was automatically billed a $5 charge on my billing date. I figured this was because I was paying for 1 day's worth of having that car, and nothing in the online user portal indicated otherwise. 3. After surrendering my old plates, I removed my old car from my insurance policy as my state fines you per day for not having insurance, even if your car is inoperable. The wrong car was removed, so I had to reinstate the new car over the phone in addition to removing the old one--which is, I can tell you with certainty, what I did the first time. So the website is awful. 4. A few days thereafter, I view my policy bill for June, which had jumped from about $200 to more than $800. So I reached out via chat because that is excessive (even if they were trying to bill for two months at once, which I would understand, it does not add up), and was informed that they would distribute the billing more evenly. 5. The following week, I received an email invoice. The bill amount was unchanged. So I called, and the person I spoke with informed me that it would be adjusted, so that I would be paying about $250 per month--they also unenrolled me from autopay so that it would "properly go through" or something. This would have been perfectly fine! Except,... 6. I log in today because I'm no longer on autopay and know I have a bill coming up, and.... surprise!!! The bill was unchanged. When I reached out to a chat rep... Well, first of all, the first message I sent (to the effect of "despite reaching out multiple times and being told my bill would be adjusted nothing has changed") resulted in an automatically closed chat (wow, seriously, guys?) and then the second one... now this is a doozy. They inform me that the $800 amount is in fact correct and that it reflects a late charge. This is the first time anyone has said anything to this effect, and there is nowhere in the customer portal that has at any point indicated that I have incurred a late charge. They also claimed that I did not pay them for May at all (which is impossible, as I was still using autopay at that point). So in conclusion, this already very stressful life event has been made absolutely UNBEARABLE by the liars and morons at Geico. Thank you for your time.

    Was a Customer Over 13 years. No Longer!

    Awful company. They just lost a customer of 13 years tonight. That took some work! I am a busy person. I depend upon my car insurance company to let me know if a payment is due or the policy might lapse. They've done this in the past. Tonight I was calling in to see if my auto policy covered rental trucks. I was shocked when I was told that my insurance policy lapsed back in April! They never texted me, never emailed me, and to my knowledge never even sent something by mail either (though it's easy to miss things sent by mail, because they sent so many useless notifications like every time they update a privacy policy or anything else)... I searched my phone and email, and verified with the agent. They sent me nothing electronically. They tried to make the excuse that I wasn't enrolled in paperless billing. That didn't work either, because I wasn't enrolled last year when they sent me text and email notifications. And then because of this simple oversight, which THEY are largely responsible for, they quote me almost $90 more per six months for insurance. KISS MY _____. Hello, Progressive, nice to meet you! P.s. Their customer service was awful tonight anyway, regardless of this incident. Had to speak to multiple people before I finally realized they wouldn't help. Two agents either intentionally disconnected me or the call dropped. Neither called back. I ended up explaining it to at least four people. Supervisor couldn't help. They have no discretion to override their "system," even in situations like this. Just awful.

    Geico service getting worse while premiums going up

    Let me start by saying that all insurance companies seem to be in a race to the bottom. I've been driving for 20 years, and I've insured with Geico for 17 of those years. I've experienced rising premiums every year (while my credit and driving records are stellar! Fico 800+, no at-fault accident in over 15 years), deteriorating customer service standards, longer claims processes, and other shady tactics (don't use their partnered shops if you want quality work done, completely inaccurate and non-transparent process that substantially undervalue vehicles and will try to forcefully Total Loss your vehicle b/c it's cheaper payout for them vs paying for repairs, argumentative claims adjuster and supervisors who berate you when you ask questions, etc.) Geico isn't the only bad insurance company but I used to appreciate it when they didn't behave like all the others. They also have stopped fighting insurance fraud which kept their premiums lower. Now they get approved for premium increases by the state virtually whenever they ask and are more concerned about returning money to their parent company's shareholders (Berkshire Hathaway) at the expense of fairly dealing with customers/policy holders. Insurance companies should be regulated to using 15% of premiums for administrative costs and the remaining 85% to paying premiums, offsetting future premiums or returning money to policy holders. I don't see what risk their shareholders are taking for the gains they are awarded. There's no product research/development and these investors don't own a company that shares the risks/competitive nature of companies in other industries. They simply raise premiums where policy holders have no choice but to pay up while having little control during the claims process.

    Geico is a good insurance company

    These guys have insured out vehicles for over 15 years. We switched from State Farm to save money. About 6 years ago, I was in a car wreck and my car totalled. The other driver was at fault. The Geico people were great - I called them right away and they gave me all kinds of advice and helped with the claim. One interesting thing they said was not to talk to the other driver's insurance company if they called. And they did. They wanted to know all kinds of details about my health. I told them not to call again and hung up. Geico paid out right away for the value of my car, and I took the check and used it for half the purchase price of a new one within a week. Everything went really smoothly and worked well. It's a good insurance company.

    Real bunch of crooks.I get hit by one of their insured drivers.They get ticketed at fault.I report it to Geico.See I have Geico oh and so do they.I decide to report it to their insurance company find out it's Geico also.They won't penalize the driver and pay my deductible.Think about this America how many people have Geico.Bottom line You are going to get ripped off.

    Incompetent and VERY expensive customer service.

    Their insurance was fine. Their customer service not so much. After canceling a policy I had on a motorcycle, which I had not plated (registered) in YEARS, I had called in the cancellation AND was assured it would result in a forth coming refund which NEVER arrived. Several months later THEY began sending notifications as to where to download my current insurance ID cards. I responded "I no longer have insurance with your company" After a notification today that had taken $123.31 from my checking account (for a bike sold last February as Junk) they requested I send a copy of the title to prove it had sold. What? How do you obtain a copy of a title to a junked vehicle? Who keeps that? NOT the seller the buyer takes the title. Well in a word BULL! I CALLED SPENT 20 MINUTES ON HOLD AND GOT NOWHERE. They are incompetent inept and very very rude. I demanded they replace the money stolen and they created two overdrafts by taking funds they no longer had authority to take. I never made any claims of any kind. No Geico is HORRIBLE to contact (too much hold time) I highly DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH GEICO. I feel robbed betrayed and taken advantage of. I work far harder for my money than they do, and I do not (unlike them) STEAL. INCOMPETENCE REWARDED? Anything but fair. Do not consider GEICO.

    From my personal experience, GEICO is the best place if you want to be fooled. Once you open the door, you can't get rid of them. About a year ago I canceled my policy ceasing any dealings with Geico. I paid the premiums in full and closed my account. Throughout the year, I've been a happy StateFarm customer. Several weeks ago, Geico unilaterally opened my policy forcing me to pay premiums for the following 6 months. Understanding that it could be a mistake, I contacted them 3 times. I talked to 6 different people. All of them promised to help me. I wrote 2 emails attaching copies of my StateFarm Id's for the entire period (after Geico policy cancellation). It didn't cure the problem. Moreover, Geico retroactively and unilaterally (without my desire, knowledge, and consent) reopened the policy. Now, they force me to pay for the previous months (last year). Geico supervisor Tom Voss claims that he obtains sufficient evidence that I hadn't been insured after I officially broke with Geico in April-May 2020 = the company is right demanding me to pay for nothing. From my non-legal understanding, it's a fraud, He knowingly (I sent them StateFarm Id's for the entire period) mispresents the facts unlawfully demanding payment.

    Horrible company

    Horrible company. I was with them for 8 years and they kept raising my rates every year even though I never filed a claim. I finally went to another insurance company. Geico is way overpriced. It is also impossible to get someone to answer the phone. You have to push 20 buttons on the menu just to get to a live person. I finally switched to Liberty Mutual and they cut my insurance rates in half and I do not have to spend an hour on the phone trying to speak to a live person. I will never recommend or use Geico again.

    Watch your bills

    Shame on me...my homeowner's insurance is paid through my mortgage company, so when they started jacking up my rates over time (went up over $1200/year in 2019), I didn't notice. When I went to refinance my mortgage in 2021, I had two different finance professionals tell me that my homeowner's insurance premium seemed awfully high ($3100/year). I shopped around on PolicyGenius, and indeed I was overpaying by a LOT. They found me a policy with BETTER coverage for just under $1200/year - a savings of almost $2000 per year. When I called Geico to see if they could reduce my premiums, the agent told me I was already getting all of the discounts I was entitled to and reminded me if I canceled my policy I would lose the discount on my auto...REALLY????? I should overpay by $2000 a year to save $80 discount - I don't think so. The other annoyance is that they won't allow you to cancel on-line - they require that you call in "so their agents can provide you with options". UM...already tried that, so back through phone queue he.. with a repeated message "if you don't want to wait on hold - go to Geico.com for assistance".

    Geico Customer Service Complaint

    I am filing a complaint against Geico Tucson in regards to their lack of transparency, a breach in their policies for honoring their customer service of practice of good faith, lack of professional conduct, & their integrity in the handling of their services with me. Being in the Military I should have the confidence that Geico, being a former Federal only insurance company who once specialized in insuring only Military personnel, would seek & generally want the utmost well-being of their customers & to provide worthy, quality, & honest customer service. I have received neither from my assigned Adjusters, Nanthan, Dominique, & Emiddio in the handling of my vehicle accident. I strongly do NOT recommend Geico to anyone who is seeking trustworthy Auto-Insurance. Geico will not take care of you, they will not respect you, & you will have to micro-manage every step of the claim process with them because they will try & scam you. You get what you pay for!     Horrible Insurance, Horrible place to work. From the perspective of both consumer and former employee. I can say 100 percent that to anyone insured or employed by them you are just a number and numbers are replaceable. In training for a position in Salvage, they focus solely on cost satisfaction but once you actually get to work ias a representative its quantity not quality which in turn is why they are a horrible insurance company. They want to make you hold while documenting all their work and still in the end 9 times out of ten they still didn't solve your problem and you have to go back and do it again.

    I've been a customer since 2005. They just raised my umbrella policy by almost 40% for no reason at all, no claims, nothing. Every year for the past five years it's gotten worse with them raising rates with no tickets and no claims. Sick of being a cash cow. I just canceled the umbrella policy and am shopping around for a new company.

    Don’t Fall for Better Rates

    I am extremely disappointed in the service I have received with Geico. I was in an accident 7/2020 (as a passenger) in my fiancé’s car which he has AAA. Also, I was in an accident again 12/2020 (in my vehicle) which is insured through Geico. I never filed a claim through Geico since I was a passenger for the first accident. Everything was handled through my fiancé’s insurance since we were rear-ended by an uninsured motorist who initially left the scene. AAA already assumed liability and planned to cover medical expenses but now want to file a claim through Geico to see if they will pay my bill instead. Needless to say I have spoken to 4 different individuals telling them all the same story only to keep repeating myself over and over. Not to mention the numerous email alerts. My last conversation with Alex Lara made me realize that Geico could careless about their customers as he was extremely condescending and rude. I’m saying all this to say, I didn’t hear a single peep from any claim adjuster when I filed a claim after being rear ended back in 12/2020. In fact when I called to follow up on the claim I submitted through the app, I was told I was responsible for calling the other person’s insurance and they don’t get involved. Never mind the fact that my back injury was aggravated again or I had to pay out of pocket to get a rental for 30 days since I was told I have to pay my deductible in order to use the rental car coverage. I guess they are a good insurance company if you don’t get in accidents, if you do...good luck with these people, they are no help. Dealing with this company has made me realize that paying the extra money for quality service is more important than saving a few dollars.

    Geico not good

    I was involved in an accident with a Geico insured on 11/05/2018. I was sitting legally parked in my vehicle on my cell phone when I was sideswiped by their insured. Information was exchanged. Needless to say I had not received any compensation from Geico, I went thru my Insurance carrier as per my states laws. Nearly two years go by and I receive a letter, from Geico dated 10/23/2020 notifying me that the limit for me to file any claims for injury settlements would expire on the 2 year anniversary of the accident, 11/05/2020. OK no big deal since I never planned to file for anything besides my property damage and less than $1000 medical fees under P.I.P. So today, 2/08/2021 I receive another letter from Geico dated 2/05/2021 informing me that due to Covid-19 restrictions my state (Oregon) extended the 2 year limit to file injury claims by 90 days. Which would have extended my deadline from 11/05/2020 to 2/05/2021. But wait, if Geico doesn't even send the letter until the day it expires what is the point?? This should have been sent by the end of November 2020. Just another PRIME example of the shadiest outfit peddling insurance!! What say you?

    As slimy as the lizard

    GEICO is a slimy scammy company and all their agents are big fat liars. Here is my story. My auto insurance with GEICO ended on Feb 5. I signed up with another company a few weeks before that and part of the application includes letting that company send a cancellation letter to GEICO so I didn't have to. On Feb 6 I received an email that they sent me a cancellation notice. Obviously either the new company didn't send the notice or GEICO just ignored the notice, so I called. The agent notified me that I now owe them $35!!! "The system says you are paid through Feb 3 so you owe $35 and I or my manager cannot change it," he claimed. This is ABSURD. I was paid through Feb 5 so I don't know where the Feb 3 comes from. Also, my new insurance premium (had I renewed) is $457, so that's on average $2.5 a day, so the most I owe is $2.5 for the one day difference. Why is it $35?!!!!!! This is a SCAM and extortion. Frustrated, I talked to another agent and their manager, and they reluctantly agreed that $35 is wrong (mind you, they never admitted it was wrong -- they just said the amount wouldn't be $35, typical of slimy liars). They promised me they would send the cancellation to the underwriting team and it would be cancelled midnight on the 6th, and the balance would be zero. Since I didn’t trust any of these people (and how right I was!), I called them a third time and talked to the third agent of the day. She assured me it was noted the cancellation would go through and the balance would be zero. The second day, I got a text message from GEICO telling me to restart the policy, which reminded me that I should check on the cancellation status. I called, and the first agent asked “which cancellation, the 6th of the 19th?” There is NO 19th! That’s the made-up date GEICO put on my account if I had not called on the 6th, in order to extort as much as possible from me. That agent had ZERO idea what was going on so I hung up and called again. The second agent told me it was canceled but now I owe $2.52 for the one day coverage. Shocking! I can afford to pay, but the agents the day before definitely lied about the balance being zero. This is the most unethical thing a company can do, scamming (nickle-and-diming) their customers. First “it’s the system”, then the lies. This basically ensures that I will NEVER sign up for GEICO ever again (after being a customer on and off, mostly on, for over a decade). Oh and here is the best part. I finally received the cancellation confirmation email (after I paid up, of course) and it says "We truly regret losing you as a policyholder and hope your relationship with us was a pleasant one. Please consider GECIO again in the future..." LOL, no Mr. Lizard, you don't regret it at all -- you just regret not extracting more money from me, and no, the relationship was NOT pleasant, and no, I will NEVER consider you ever again.

    I've had Geico since 2014 for auto…

    I've had Geico since 2014 for auto insurance. Never had an issue with my insurance policy or with customer service. Last year, I insured a vehicle in July of 2020. My vehicle became inoperable and not having the money for repairs I call geico to place the vehicle in storage status on September 9. The representative confirmed that my vehicle was placed in storage and due to the credits and differences from my insurance policy to that of a storage policy the credits would cover my vehicle up to and through December 2020. The following month I receive another bill for my usual amount. I then call customer service and they confirm that I indeed called and that my policy should have been changed. They tell me that they would make the changes, retro back the policy back to the original request on Sept 9 and cal me within 2 business days to confirm everything was complete. Nothing happened, not one call, my insurance still in it's original policy status. I continue to call, meanwhile I am still being billed for the original premium amount. I have called more than 20 times regarding the issue, and on numerous occasion I have been hung up on. When asked to cancel my policy, they say "you're account is stuck in underwriting due to a system problem, continue to make your payments." So while your policy is being held hostage in their underwriting, you are expected to pay. When Geico promises a call back, forget about it. When Geico says they are working on it? They are not, meanwhile they are still billing you. My policy naturally canceled on December 13 when I was told my credits in policy change FROM SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 would carry me through December and into 2021. I receive a bill from Geico stating I owe them in January 2021 due to non payment of my policy since December 13, 2020. I call Geico on February 1 2021. I make my case of the situation and the representative stayed on the line with my while she "fixes" the issue. She changes my policy to that of Limited Liability. She assures me and promises to call me on February 4 to complete the update and ensures that the policy would be retroactively credited from September 9 2020 through today. My vehicle is still in storage and I told her that I would be willing to place it back in Limited Liability once it is fixed. She places my policy in a limited liability starting 12-30-2020 for six months. I now have a bill that I must pay $356.00 due by February 16 and an additional $87.00 Due by February 28, 2020. Is the problem fixed? NO Can I cancel my policy? NO, "it's processing and stuck in underwriting." This company is a farce, they talk to you as if you're a little child each and every time coddling you with their lines of "I'm so sorry" "We apologize" "I feel bad for the situation" "I understand" mean while they continue to bill you for their mistakes and problems. It's extortion at it's best. Move on! Stay Clear!

    Don't give them 15 mins of your time, they will bug you for years, once they get your contact info! I did the 15 mins, and got what I thought was a good quote, and when I went to pay for it, I see a different price, and I back off, and the next day I get a call from some rude lady asking me if I still wanted this? I told her no, not when the prices changes, upon check out, then she goes on how it cost so much money to check out "you people!" I was not interested in dealing with Gieco at that point, and for years, I kept getting correspondence from them! They can take that lizard and shove it!

    Would not recommend to anyone. I got in an accident that was not my fault, I paid a $500 deductible and never got it back. Rate keeps increasing and the longer you are with them the worse they treat you.

    I was waiting an hour for a tow, and no one bothered to tell me that the tow truck had been delayed by a WHOLE HOUR. After waiting five hours in the cold rain and snow, the truck finally arrived. When I spoke to supervisors at Geico, every single one of them said there was nothing they could do by way of a courtesy credit. Nothing but a verbal apologies and crappy service.

    Horrible experience

    Upon moving out of state, we contacted geico to give us insurance quote on our vehicle in the new state. After spending over an hour on the phone with the geico rep, He quoted us a price over $1,200 more than what we had been paying. He told us he could not find our prior 40 plus years of driving experience in our home state, and had to quote us based upon one month of driving experience using our licenses from our new residence. Called another company who was able to provide us insurance within 10 minutes for less than our current policy. Waste of time . Go else where

    TAYLOR NEY-THE GEICO PROFESSIONAL!

    On 11/30/20 at 5:45AM I was driving to work on JTB here in Jacksonville, Fl when my car hit a large truck tire sitting in the middle of the freeway, while it was raining. 5-7 other cars had pulled over after hitting the same tire. Major damage! Called FHP and then GEICO to file a claim. Fast forward to that afternoon. I could not drive the car and the tow truck had to pick up. After I got to My Vehicle Repair Shop, I found out Mr Karl Sink(transfer or transfire this guy!) had called the shop, and after receiving his info, I called him. This guy was and is terrible as an employee and an adjuster with a terrible attitude. First words out of his mouth were: "You only have five days for your Rental Car..lol.." Totally stupid! Instead of working with me and finding out where I would like to take my car to get the body work done, he's pontificating about a rental car(Per our policy gives us up to $1500) like he owns GEICO and it's his money..lol. I immediately contacted GEICO Corporate/Customer Service to ask for A Supervisor. I called MR Taylor Ney in Georgia. He took charge from there. This guy was and is the "EPITOME" of Professionalism! He listened patiently to my side of the story, arranged the extension of the rental, made contact with the Vehicle Repair Shop Manager, The Body Shop, made sure I had a copy of the estimate and was in daily contact with me via text/phone as needed! He IS an Excellent Asset to GEICO! Clone this GUY!

Don't fall for there give back program they offer, after a year they'll raise your rates beyond payable and if you cancel after getting the offer, they'll demand all the money back!     This company is a joke!!

    This company is a joke!!! My truck caught on fire in the middle of the night. They confirmed it was totalled. Going on a month and a half of a open claim because they take sooooo long to get back to people its unreal. They tried to low ball me on the price for my truck, their figures were way off. I had to submit 20 comparable trucks on my own for comparison and when I asked them to email me the trucks they were using in comparison they weren't even the same trucks!!!! They are using gas trucks in comparison to a diesel truck which is a 6k difference right off the bat. I've talked to 3 different "adjusters" and all I D I O T S. They had me search for all comparable data to help them but they refuse to use it. They are using 3 trucks they found and 2 are gas trucks, the 1 diesel truck they found didn't even have an image and when I called them back to let the know his reply was "well why do you need a image for"? Thats where I lost my S H I T and yelled at him..."if images and condition don't matter then why did you send a adjuster to my house to take 30 pictures of my truck"? These people apparently do NOT care about their customers nor do they even know cars/trucks at all!!! I hope they all catch Covid. Pay the extra money and go to a different insurance company!! It will be worth it if you should ever have a claim. Wish I did more research of their claims process before buying insurance from them, which I paid in FULL up front!!!

    Geico will not do the right thing

    I was hit by a car that ran a red light. The driver was driving his personal vehicle for work related business. He had a patient in the back seat. He was lying to Geico about insurance use, and lied about running the light. We both had Geico so they obviously had no interest in opening a dispute, and closed the claim word against word, without digging into the situation for the company's own convinience. We both had Geico so they obviously had no interest in opening a dispute. I was astonished since I sent them a video recording of the driver talking on the phone saying he had a patient in the car. I questioned how they could take his word if there was proof of him lying from the beginning. I now have a dash cam in my car in case something happens again. It sucks I am stuck with Geico since I am a college student and need a low cost insurance. As soon as I get in a better financial situation, I am definitely going to switch to another car insurance

    Garbage/Pathetic/Price Gouging

    ZERO STARS but it made me give them 1 Star!! I would give -5 Stars if it would let me! WORST service and WORST experience with an insurance company ever!! We had ONE incident during the entire time that we had them and they raised our insurance almost $100 a month! After finding pretty much the same coverage elsewhere...for WAY...WAY cheaper, I sent them the requested declarations page to show proof of new insurance. They claimed that once they received this, they would take care of the prorated amount that they claimed I owed. That was a lie. Nobody contacted me to let me know anything was wrong or needed so I assumed that it was taken care of...only to find out it wasn't....when I receive a COLLECTIONS letter in the mail!! Beyond pissed and beyond horrible company!! I would NOT ever recommend them to anyone. Trust me, there are equal or better options out there for a better price! Progressive is where I went and it will save me a ton!

    Run from Geico

    Run, don't walk away from Geico. This company is disaggregated, meaning it has no central governance. Each state is responsible for its policy holders in that state. And, believe me when I say, they do not care about their policy holders. I've been an insurance holder with Geico for several years, and thankfully haven't had to file a claim. Recently, however, I got a taste of their customer service. Earlier this year, my brother passed away. He was also a Geico auto insurance policy holder. In order to help settle his affairs, I sent Geico a death certificate. They told me they'd cancelled his policy, but then promptly began sending me collection letters for his final $384 payment. There was no estate to settle with nor was I an executor. But, my reward for sending along my brother's death certificate was Geico attaching my address with my brother's policy and then inundating me with an unending stream of letters and emails telling me to pay his bill under threat of debt collectors (of course, this couldn't affect my credit as it was not my debt. Still, it's beyond disturbing to receive letter after letter about your deceased relative's bills that have nothing to do with you). I made call after call to Geico (they won't do anything via email). Each time, I was told the bill would be dismissed and the situation resolved, and each time, the harassment continued. Finally, I let them know I'd be cancelling my policy when it expired as I would never want to be associated with a company so poorly run that they couldn't handle a simple situation as a customer's death. Even after letting them know I'd cancel my policy as well, they did nothing. They simply do not care about a single policy holder. None of the banks or credit card companies I contacted on my brother's behalf had any problems settling the issue. So, here's what Geico accomplished by harassing me about my dead brother's insurance bill. 1) They didn't get one cent closer to getting the money, nor will they ever as there's no estate to settle. 2) They've lost another customer for life. And, believe me when I say, they've shown absolutely no concern over the latter. Geico is so poorly run that I cannot imagine a good experience with a claim, and therefore, I'll repeat my initial advice: Run, don't walk, away from Geico.

    Don’t be fooled

    This was the first time that I had a situation where I needed assistance from Geico. And I’ve come to the realization that this company doesn’t actually care. Dealing with a car situation can be extremely frustrating and difficult. And having multiple customer service agents hit you with rehearsed, one line responses is unhelpful. I was clear with each of them that I needed help and that I didn’t have much experience with the process, which I feel a lot of people go through. So it’s their job to know, and it’s then their job to explain. But if you can do neither then why I am I paying this company to help me? Most of the time they take my money and have to do nothing. But the fact that the first time I actually need assistance and I’m left feeling worse off is ridiculous.

    I have had numerous big-name insurance carriers for both property and automobile insurance, but Geico is the very best insurer I have had. They really focus on excellent customer service and provide seamless and quick service. If you want the most for your buck go with Geico. It renews in December but I will check prices for our home owners and 4 vehicles rates. A representative that has warmth and kindness in their voice.

    They take your money in 2 minutes for 10 years and then they drop you from the policy and you can't get your refund back. They owe me $559 and they sent the check to an address that i never lived. Completely incompetent Been waiting for over 2 weeks, 8 phone calls, still can't get the money they owe.     Got several quotes and I'm a 45 year old with perfect driving record and nothing to report. Never made a injury claim.. Been driving 28 years.. They are giving quotes that are 400-500 dollars a month.. Then they will offend you by saying " we know you will like this quote" What do you think I'm an idiot,, everyone who reads this do not go to geico.. They are absolute thieves and there are real insurance companies that will give you insurance 2 times lower than their garbage.. Stay away!!..

    Dishonest Company!!

    We have been trying for over a month to get a refund from GEICO for a payment they charged that they weren't suppose to. They keep on having excuses on why they are not giving back the money. We even have a confirmation number for the amount to be received back in 5 to 7 days, since September 18. They then sent papers they said we had to sign to get our money back, that we sent back weeks ago, and they said they never got them. Then we signed something through email they sent us, and they claimed we sent it to the wrong email. Now, it won't even go through with the new email they gave us, and we received a new paper to resign, and send back. They are refusing to give us back our money, and with everybody having money problems right now, we really could use that money. Do not trust this company! They are charging way more than the new company we have, for an even better coverage. They ripped us off, and unfortunately, it looks like we will not be able to get our money back. Search elsewhere. They are much better deals out there than this company, and they are just not honest!!

    Geico has fallen off dramatically!!!

    I work at an auto dealership and have to call Geico for customers daily. It is incredibly frustrating. EVERY call take no less than 30 minutes to reach a human being. Often times when you do, they hang up on you. When you reach someone, they are professional and helpful. It's the phone hold time that is ridiculous. Good luck trying to reach someone. Geico has fallen off drastically and I now refer customers to other insurance companies that are much easier to deal with.

    Well after 20 years with this company and many vehicles and homes.I have always carried full coverage.It has been a great company right till I had a motorcycle accident in NewYork.The company that decided my full coverage did not include medical. Not explaining that when policy for full coverage was purchased it should of been explained that in New York you had to by policy separate. Then try to send me that paperwork to explain this was never offered till after accident.     The person I finally got through to was professional, polite, knowledgeable. This isn't about the people who work at geico. Every person I have interacted with has been courteous. The problem is trying to get to a person. I was on hold for 21 minutes, finally got a human and she hung up on me. After that I gave up for 2 weeks. I finally got a person today. She was great, but I was on hold for 20 minutes again. I know there's a pandemic but geico has taken my money every month, month in and month out. I even called and said my car doesn't go anywhere. In the beginning of the pandemic I went no where. Then it was 3 miles to the grocery store and 3 miles home, once a week. I received no discount on my insurance from geico. I've taken my car off the road, plates cancelled. Geico said we'll give you 15%off next year. Well, it's next year, I can't afford a car anymore, what good is that 15% to me? Once again, screw the poor. Take our money, then screw us. Revolution is coming

    Disappointed

    My daughter was hit, head on by a GEICO customer on August 6th. It was his fault. He did not dispute that. We filed a claim the next day and then spent the next month trying to get someone from GEICO to just return a phone call, to no avail. They would not even respond when we brought in an attorney. It was literally 35 days before we heard from anyone. We are no on day 48. Tomorrow marks 7 weeks since the accident and we still have no forward motion on the case. My daughter has been forced to leave her job as she has no vehicle and there just does not seem to be any urgency on the part of GEICO to resolve this. **UPDATE** We are now over 2 months out since the accident and still no resolution.

    GEICO and Safelite are two one in the same horrible companies. I currently have 4 vehicles, some personal property, and our home insured with GEICO. On Aug 31 I filed a claim (forced to use Safelite). After two weeks of Safelite showing up with missing parts, scratched glass, and just plain incompetence, our windshield was installed. The technician left our BMW 7 series dirty from debris and a grease or oil stain on the leather seats. GEICO did nothing for me except inform me that this did not warrant an "elevation".... I can't imagine what more would deserve an elevation of this claim. I am shopping for new insurance. GEICO can take Safelite and put it where the sun does not shine.

    They offer cheap insurance to the people, and don't pay the property compensation at all. I got hit and run from their insured who was drunk and driving, then Geico don't accept 100% liability which is non sense and don't pay for diminished car value for my car resale value decreased. Also, they don't want to pay the proper compensation on pain and suffering and very sneaky to move out of paying. Nightmare company!!

    Esta compania de seguros es definitivamente un fraude para el cliente, Horrible experiencia, me devolvieron un cheque de pago en plena pandemia porque perdi el empleo. La compania Geico de seguros me reporto sin seguro y perdi la licencia de conducir. Los llame y pague el seguro, pero me cobraron el doble de lo que yo pagaba porque tenia la licencia suspendida,por carta que ellos enviaron. Tengo de ser cliente de esa compania 13 anos y no les importo pandemia ni tampoco que le hice el pago NO LA RECOMIENDO. Te hacen cancelar tu Licencia de conducir.

When/If you get around to an agent I suggest you beg them not to hang up on you and ask them to call you back if the call gets disconnected.

    They quoted me 200$ per month for 5 year experience driving, after making payments for 6 months, they decided to increase 100$ because my license is only 4 years 7 months. I tried to call them for 2 weeks but no hope, keep waiting and waiting. And I finally sent the email to them. They just sent 1 sentence without explaining fully the reason.     Total Rip Off Company

    Like many others I went to Geico because they offered the best rate but they took all the savings back plus more! First few years went fine but being a Long time customer means nothing to this company. First; you have to do direct deposit to get the rate but they kept raising it little by little without notifing me (isn't that illegal? And without anything changing, cars get older and insurance should get alittle lower each year?) By the time I noticed it was way too late, the damage was done. Even though they lowered it back down I'd already over paid over a $1,000 too much and they would not refund the unapproved direct deposit rip off overcharge. So watch those auto pays (internet/cable as well. Do not give any of these people your social security number. They use that to force you to over pay or get a credit ding. Its NOT required) Also while I'm on a roll, Geico forces you to take your car to one of their auto body shops, which are crap. Do your own research and demand they let you take your car to a reputable shop. Whew I feel better, time for a smoke.

    Terrible Customer Service

    Geico has not applied a 15% discount they promised on my bill, so I called them already 3 times to fix and every time they said that they would apply next day, nothing happened. I'm about to call 4th time to see if I can get my 15% discount applied. Also, keep in mind that each call takes about 50 minutes just to be answered! I'm not exaggerating, 50 minutes on average. This discount is not worth your time.

    This is beyond the worst auto insurance…

    This is beyond the worst auto insurance experience I've ever had in my life. Sadly someone stole 1 of my multiple vehicles covered by Geico in 2019. This is I have full insurance coverage with Geico (my biggest mistake) so I did an insurance claim, police report, etc., (everything Geico requested that I do). Geico proceeded to tell me I HAD TO KEEP PAYING THE INSURANCE to retrieve the insurance payment. (9 months later I found out that was false information provided by Geico). Geico also made me sign a transfer of title to them "before issuing my claim payment. The day after the title was transferred to Geico, the rep said they are now holding the payment to do further investigation. The rep also said bc of COVID-19 they aren't working and it would take several months to do the investigation bc they are not working but i still had to pay the insurance. The Geico rep (who was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL) proceeded to hang up in my face after I asked questions about what I could do to expedite the process. I am still paying 200 per month for a vehicle I have not had since 2019 bc it was stolen and Geico still hasn't issued a payment or resolved the claim. I have done EVERYTHING requested by Geico up to this point. If you want to get treated horribly, pay for a service you won't receive in you need, and pay a company you CAN NOT depend on..Geico is the best choice for your coverage. DO NOT TRUST GEICO WITH YOUR ASSETS OR INSURANCE.

    Extremely bad service as I am already Geico policyholder!

    I bought a new car by trading one of the car on the policy. I am trying to add/delete vehicle since last 2 and 1/2 hours. I tried mobile apps, online and phone number, nothing works! I am on hold by machine forever and after several minutes the phone disconnected (several time). So, I called from my wife's phone and choose the option for new policy and sure enough within 2 minutes a sales person came on line. But as soon as he heard that it is about the existing policy, he transferred me to another person (sierra) who made a lame excuse that system is down and refused to help me and hung up on me!

After reading the reviews and consulting with other people that have Geico I decided to join the Geico family. I Purchased a new policy on July 27 for my brand new car. Despite having a few points on my license I got a real good rate from Geico. In a matter of days I got a better rate and then a few days later even a better rate emailed to me. After speaking to Geico they told me that they gave me a 15% discount for signing with Geico and a second 15% because of COVID-19. That made me feel real good that I made the right choice by joining Geico. It’s been two weeks now and my rate plunged back up over the original rate. So I called the 800 number and spoke to a representative regarding what happened. They couldn’t really tell me what happened to the discounts that they originally gave me all they said was this is your new rate and it will not change. DID I MAKE A GOOD DECISION BY JOINING THE GEICO FAMILY????

    Everything I read about Geico after I…

    Everything I read about Geico after I went with them, especially their rate increases. My homeowners went up 25%with no claims and no increase in value and my auto went up 67% with a bump accident in a gas station parking lot. So beware of Geico. They are ripoff artists and their representatives flat out lie went trying to get information on the phone. When I called them on the carpet about this they gave me their boilerplate answers. DO NOT go with Geico. In the end they will get you.

    I was involved in an accident 7/10/2020 almost 3 weeks ago. I still can not get a claims agent to call me back. I have have call multiple times a day.     I was bullied into buying home…

    I was bullied into buying home insurance. I said I just wanted a quote but the agent would keep asking me what the problem was and kept asking me for the number of my mortgage company and he would take care of it. Now I’m canceling my auto insurance with them I have been on hold for more than 1 hour and a half and still no one is answering. Geico is terrible. I will never go back to them.

    GEICO sucks rhino.

    Garbage customer service. SCAM. Waited nearly a month after our inspection to say they were going to cancel our insurance DURING A PANDEMIC if we didn't get thousands of dollars of unnecessary repairs to our home. Told us our deck required rail. By law it does not, new build, legal. Tried to cancel our insurance over it. They are incompetent. Said the payment that they took INSTANTLY from our account would be 7-10 business days to refund. SCAM ARTISTS!

    Good afternoon to everyone that work for the Geico Customer Center. I do hope that all of yous are doing ok today. Also I do hope that all of yous will have a very wonderful day ok smile. In ending I just want to say that I called in to the Geico Car Insurance Billing Department to have my PYMT due date change from 07-20-20 to 07-15-20 and Geico Billing Department Agent name Rachel that work at the Geico Car Insurance Carrier Company in NYC answered the Phone and processed my request stated above and I told her Job Well Done ok smile. Last of all Rachel is always such a very Positive Role Model for all young and old people that work in the Geico Car Insurance Billing Department. Finally too Agent Rachel is always a very very Positive Representative for the Geico Car Insurance Billing Department that she works for day in and day out ok take care smile.     Hold times are way too long ..

    Hold times are way too long ... over an hour . Of course I had to get an impatient customer rep on top of that who was very sassy . They are definitely going downhill with their reps. I would be concerned if I were them .
