Application Process

If you’d like to apply for a policy online, the first step is to enter your zip code and address into the company’s website. You’ll then need to answer a range of questions related to the property, such as the length of time you’ve been a resident.  You’ll also need to input your personal details in order to receive your quote, which you can choose to have sent to your email address. 

The entire online application process  takes 10 minutes to complete.If you would rather not complete the application process online, you can contact one of the company’s agents by phone. You can find the nearest agent by entering your address details on  Geico’s website.

Discounts

If you also have an auto insurance policy with Geico, you may qualify for discounted rates on your homeowners policy. Once you have purchased your homeowners policy, the company will apply this discount to your auto policy. It’s important to note these discounts are not available in all states. 

Depending on the insurance agent, you may be able to lower the cost of your coverage if your home has smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, or a home security system.

How Safe is it?

The quickest way to contact Geico is through its 24/7 virtual assistant, which is available on its website and mobile app. 

Customers can also get in touch with the company via email or phone. The availability of its sales agents may differ according to the state you live in. In the majority of locations, Geico agents are available between 7:00 am and 1:00 am ET on Mondays to Fridays and between 8:00 am and 10.30pm ET on Saturdays and Sundays.     BEWARE: It is hard to cancel your policy

    Trying to cancel my policy on the website... After going through all 10 reasons why I don't need car insurance, their "error" message is "There are many reasons to keep your policy active even if you don't own a vehicle. Please contact us by chat to discuss your options." So I pull up their chat. Got all the same questions from the website. After finally getting someone live on the chat... 'Olivia' won't respond in the chat to my cancelation request. Is this a joke? Am I supposed to spend the next 30 mins on the phone to cancel my insurance?

    No customer service.

    Can't change incorrect policy information on homeowners policy for partner agency at either GEICO or directly at policy site. Wait for GEICO customer service is 40 minutes even on virtual site which was zero help. Car claim, incorrect information given. Wasted my time going to the location GEICO referred me to which didn't do estimates only took pictures that I could have sent myself. No reason to go to a GEICO contract location when any repair place could have taken the pictures if GEICO wouldn't except mine. Adjuster never physically looked at car. GEICO is not the customer service company it was in the past. After 20 years, I'm looking for a new provider for all my policies.

    Dissapointed.

    My car has now been in the shop for two months after hitting a pothole because my adjuster Sean Julius has repeatedly lied to me, 'accidentally' given me misinformation about my tow policy, and ignored my calls/messages. His supervisor Shane Gray has done nothing to resolve the situation. This has left me without a car and paying out of pocket to get to and from work. My family chose to pay more for Geico because we thought that they were a reputable company that we could count on. Despite having only had to use them once in the last 5 years we have been thoroughly proven wrong and disappointed. When my claim (hopefully) is finished soon, we will be looking at other options for insurance.

    Salt Lake City, Utah Geico customer service is non-existent. I bought my car from a dealer for the guarantees and full inspection reports to ensure everything was in working condition. The claims adjuster, Joshua Pompeu refused to return claims calls and gave me the run around for months! He said he did not believe my car air con was working before the accident. He is very unprofessional and rude! I offered to show the full inspection report when I bought the car, he chose instead to avoid all my calls! A Geico customer SLAMMED into my car and crushed the back of my car and knocked out the air conditioning simultaneously. I reported these damages and took photos and immediately uploaded into Geico's system. I was told the repair shop would follow up with Joshua Pompeu to report all the damages. The geico claims adjuster, Joshua, took himself out of the equation and made the repair shop my primary contact through the whole repair process. When I went to pick up my car, there was an additional over $800 not covered because the claims adjuster refused to authorize the expense. This whole experience has been a nightmare. There is no rewards for being a loyal Geico customer for years. My rewards was being gaslighted by Joshua Pompeu and being cheated. The customer service for Geico is now non-existent, everything is virtual and there is no physical locations any more, so no one is willing to help resolve claims fairly. They only ignore victims.

    WORST COMPANY ON THE PLANET

    I am almost speechless at the lack of customer service here and, more than that, just the complete rudeness and disregard for a customer. Today, i received a nasty gram from my state's DMV dept. stating that my license plate had been deactivated for over a week now and that I had incurred a hefty fee for my auto insurance being cancelled - WTH???? After 3 long, disturbingly rude, frustrating conversations with about 10+ Geico reps ACROSS THE COUNTRY, I discovered how they outright LIED and said that I had CANCELLED MY AUTO POLICY VIA TEXT which, in my state, was warranted as legal for cancelling an auto policy YET THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THIS TEXT TO ME!!! I vehemently denied that I did so yet they could not provide proof. Furthermore, IT IS ILLEGAL TO CANCEL SOMEONES AUTO POLICY WITHOUT NOTIFYING THEM IN WRITING - WHICH I NEVER REC'D! One agent told me they notified my lienholder via mail, which was Toyota Financial Services who told me upon my phone call to them that they had received NO SUCH NOTIFICATION and as far as they were concerned the auto insurance was still intact. Yet ANOTHER AGENT tried to tell me that they notified ME VIA snAIL MAIL, TO WHICH i INFORMED THEM I TOO HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY SUCH NOTICE. They REFUSED to allow me to speak with a manager - 5 different call ins mind you!!!! - all agents were rude, condescending, unprofessional and uncaring. NOT ONE offered to reinstate the policy - NOT ONE!!! No one GAVE A DAMN about what had happened!!!! AND NO ONE OF COURSE ADMITTED CULPABILITY!!!! I HAD TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE STATE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER AND THEY WILL GET THEIR LYING ATTENTION - FRAUD ARTISTS!!!!! I AM GETTING AN ATTORNEY AND WILL BE SUEING THEM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO ME - SHAME ON THEM!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!     Geico Covered $483 of $1,851 windshield replacement. I was on the highway and a car kicked up a rock, and it busted my windshield. I went through their claims process, and Safelite referred me to the Honda dealer as they are the only people who can calibrate the safety cameras located at the top middle, just behind the windshield. Geico refuses to cover the calibration and caps the amount to pennies on the dollar of what it costs, but THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE. Safelite, Geico's partner is the one who told me I have to go to the dealer otherwise, no safety features on my 2021 Honda Civic would work. It's a lease, I don't have a choice. Yet Geico doesn't care! Stay away... Just wasted 40mins on the phone where they read you their terms & conditions. They're not interested in customers, just their own profit.

    The people at geico are very sneaky, the gave me a quote for my auto insurance, they never mentioned that i would to participate in the drive easy progrm, if i opt out they charge 196.00 more. First of all it seems illigal to me to be tracking each and every trip i take; the duration the amout of miles i travelled, weather i brake hard or not. If I take a turn too fat etc Etc I've never seen an invasion of my privacy worst that this.

    I have had Geico for YEARS

    I have had Geico for YEARS. Never had a problem with them until recently. In March of this year they decided to CANCEL my road side assistance and DID NOT tell me. I had some car trouble and put in a request through the mobile app. I received an urgent message telling me to give them a call which I did. Then customer service proceeded to tell me they CANCELLED my road side assistance in MARCH, this was the first time I had heard anything about it and I was FURIOUS. When I asked, they said their was nothing they could do and I would have to pay out of pocket. Over $100!!! I had to leave my vehicle stranded on the side of the road and walk FIVE MILES to get help. I will be CANCELING my Geico insurance and letting everyone I know what an irresponsible and CARELESS company they are. SHAME on ALL of you!!!

    GET INSURANCE LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!

    After getting rear ended GEICO told me the damage caused **in the exact spot my car was hit** was not caused by the accident and refused to pay repairs. Also, they will and legally can refuse to pay a body shop's prices and charge you the difference. I do not know how their business is legal, but the cheaper prices you get by switching is not worth it even a little bit if you get in even a minor accident.

    We used Geico and applied for full coverage on both of our cars. My husband noticed that it would be cheaper to pay every 6months so he asked them to change out our payment plan to save money, we did not change our policy coverage at all!!!! Well yesterday he hit a deer on the way home from work. Geico told us we didn't have full coverage on his car!!!! So now we are stuck covering all the repairs and parts. GEICO is shady! They swindled a disabled Navy veteran!!! It is disgusting how they treated us!

    It is a requirement that you be on autopay. If you turn it off for one day then make the payment the next day then go to turn off auto-pay back on then they add another bill to you which is essentially another payment for no reason then of course they'll want the one coming up the next one paid as well so they want over $400 in 1 months time just because you skipped one day for payment. Every payment has been made on time every time. And don't bother trying to call them about it they will not take it off. They are thieves.

    Get your insurance anywhere but here if you can help it because if you don't have collision/comprehensive then they won't help you at all. They don't even investigate; they just pay the claim and you're screwed for the next 5 years. Go somewhere else or face the consequences.

    Been insured by geico for the last ten years, i was out of town for two weeks and when I got home I had a cancellation in the mail, i called geico and after ten years they said i was cancelled because of late payment and if i paid the 49.00 that i owed the would reissue the policy if it was paid in full.     DO NOT TRUST GEICO WITH YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE NEEDS. I made an insurance claim where I was the victim of an incident. I provided Geico with all the requested proof of my claim, and everything else they requested regarding my claim. 2 years went by, and my claim had not been resolved. They tried to come up with an excuse not to pay me. I had to sue Geico to get the claim covered. They also scammed me by telling me I had to continue paying for their insurance until the claim was resolved, or they would not pay the claim. Worst insurance experience ever.     Geico lists false claims on my record, admits they are not valid yet refuses to remove them after years of promises that they would. Very deceitful and underhanded tacticss

    Geico has reported 2 false claims on my record for years just to inflate any competitors rate when shopping around. I have been trying unsuccessfully for 2 years and over 10 attempts to have false claims removed from my record, all to no avail. All attempts have been met with admitting that there was no claim and it should not exist and would be removed within 2 weeks to 30 days max. Each time they lied. Over and over again I have been in contact with Geico, and Lexus Nexus and each time met with false promises and Zero action by Geico. Any attempt to speak with supervisor have been denied or I am given a promise that they would contact me, they never do. I was even disconnected for just mentioning the previous class action lawsuit against them for similar underhanded tactics. An insurance "claim" is a formal request for payment made by someone to their policy provider. No payment was ever made, no service of any kind ever given, NO CLAIM was ever made. NOTHING whatsoever in over 45 years of driving. Geico seems to do this in order to retain clients when they see the artificially inflated rates given by competitors when they see false claims on a record. A very underhanded, very deceitful practice by Geico. Not only blatantly immoral, but it should also be illegal! Probably is but they don't seem to care. They say it's "company policy" that any call for any information regarding any type of claim will be reported on record as an actual claim!! WHAT? Every time I speak with someone I am given a different story about why, yet they always agree that the claims do not exist, that no payment was ever made to anyone for anything but they do it just the same. I am done with Geico and I would never ever recommend them to anyone. Be very aware of what is on your claims record. They will never tell you if they try to slip one or two in and you' be paying inflated rates if you attempt to shop around. A very dishonest company with very deceitful business practices. Avoid them at all costs.

    The Truth About Geico: If anyone was to be seduced by a…

    If anyone was to be seduced by a lizard, it would be me. Like so many others, I was charmed by cheery Geico commercials that seemed to promise so much. I was in a fairly minor accident one month ago today, and I still don't have my car repaired. The local damage adjuster said he was the only one covering several cities in my area, and he wasn't able to look at my car right away. In fact he never looked at it; I had to take my own photos, submit them, and they make their benefit determination based on this. However, exterior photos don't reveal interior damage. Now the body shop is waiting for Geico to come to them and assess the interior problems, and my car continues to sit idle while I use an expensive rental. Everything has been slow, unfriendly, and unhelpful. I am so disappointed in this company which seems to excel at hollow bragging but nothing else.

    I’m not sure what happened I’m guessing…

    I’m not sure what happened I’m guessing Geico just got too busy and too many customers but the service level has gone down so much in the last couple of years. Particularly frustrating is not being able to do things on the app, which is what an app is for, but I always end up having to call them and then be on hold etc. they seem to be going downhill

    Bad Customer Service

    I am victim of a rear-end accident with a Geico policy holder. I was foolish enough to go to Service King, the auto body shop that had the earliest availability. Service King did repair the damage from the accident, but they caused some other damages to the car. Service King also left my car out in the sun for 2 weeks. When I got my car back, it was filthy! I then proceeded to complain to the Geico adjuster. She did not respond at all. So, I filed a complaint, which another Geico representative responded. I told her there was no way I would take my car back to Service King because they would cause more damage. She responded that I assumed that was what was going to happen and that I was not willing to meet halfway to resolve the issue. Uhh, no, there was no way I was going to take another chance for my car to be damaged some more. If somebody damages my property, I am not going to let that somebody anywhere near my property again.

    Clarity demands truth without Tobias

    I switched insurance carriers in 2020 through a fiancee. Her friend Tiffany Thu Le was the realtor/insurance agent who sent me an ID card in the email. Everything checked out so I thought nothing of it. Much later I found the actual policy at fiancee's house in which the primary named was not me but additional insured info was correct. This has been stressful because I noticed other things going on which I did not understand. The changes were eventually made to correct it. Once. Twice. And finally they relented and inputted my identity spelled out correctly, but by then I left her already. When I later contacted Geico and told them everything they corrected it on the spot by separating us, and insuring me separately. It was not enough that I was already paying for alot of things in the relationship and now the insurance too but not putting my name on there and someone else's made me think of the debt consolidation along with the phone network usage which I was continually cut off from. No service. No insurance, and child support coming after me while we were together caused me enough reason to leave. Tiffany Thu Le, I hold you responsible for this. In addition, Geico referred me to Hiscox insurance for small business in which I was sold a 1 million/2 million coverage for $180 a month. On the policy binder they stayed many things which they denounced when the time came for action. The brother of my fiancee sued me and slandered me, the owner of Apex GRP, and the promise from Hiscox stated if you are sued, regardless of fault, we will appoint an attorney to represent you. Awards and damages will be paid with some sort of additional benefits. When it actually happened, they said my case did not apply. Much later I would call and question them again and the woman who answered said I only had a basic policy and none of that is covered. Was this a scam and they just took money frome without representation or owning up to the terms and agreements? I trusted Geico formerly but incidentally, I do not trust Hiscox business insurance and that distrust now carries over to Geico for the referral. - Michael LT Dinh (JohsHand)

    In January 2021 we bought our first…

    In January 2021 we bought our first house. At the time Geico was our insurance for our cars and renters. We asked for a quote for our homeowners but decided to go with progressive after getting other quotes. We changed EVERYTHING to progressive to get a bundle discount and paid the whole first year to progressive at closing. Flash forward to this February 2022 and we get our escrow analysis saying that our escrow is negative. We soon figured out that Geico had charged our escrow for the quote we told them we did NOT want. Here's the crazier part: because in the first year with progressive we had a claim we decided to go with Geico for homeowners for the year 2022. We did not know that we had a policy our first year with Geico but Geico took it upon themselves to just continue the policy that we didn't know about rather then start a new one. So, we asked for a refund in February when we figured everything out only to get the run around continually. They happily had cancelled our policy for 2021 without telling us it would cancel our current policy leaving us with a lapse in coverage while we were having our third baby, mind you we did NOT know it was lapsed until we got a refund check for our current years premium. We called outraged asking to reinstate our current years insurance for 2022 and refund us for the previous year. Which their response is they can't refund that previous year because it is the same as the current policy. After spending more then half the day on the phone in March we cancelled our current years insurance for 2022 and switched back to progressive even though it costs more. We are still fighting with Geico and homesite for the refund of 2021 because they say it will lapse the insurance for the 3 months we did want it for this year which makes no sense to us! We are past the point of frustration and beyond angry and annoyed. When we started this process I was in my last month of pregnancy with my third child. He is now almost 2 months old!!! It is absolutely despicable that they can't refund the money and admit they screwed up in more than one way. Geico is trash and my husband and I will NEVER use them for anything again.

    RV premium increase by 20%

    They increased the premium for my camping trailer by 20%, yes 20% - I NEVER-EVER had an insurance claim, not for my RV nor for my cars. I am insured since years with you, no speeding tickets, no accidents, no claims since I started driving and you are raising me by 20%?! Thank you. Geico made 728 million dollars last year, after taxes. Even considering inflation, 20% is a slap in the face for a very loyal customer like me!     Horrible customer service

    Horrible customer service, and blatantly false in assurances. I obtained a commercial auto policy from them, which was pricy to say the least. At the time, I inquired regarding refunds when and if I cancelled the policy, and was told it would be pro rated and right back to my credit card exactly as I had paid. I cancelled 4 days ago and was told they would know the refund amount in 2 days when a check would be issued. Today, they said they still don't know the refund amount, and the refund check will be in 3-4 weeks. They tried to blame BHHC for this, claiming they only sold the policy and it was underwritten by BHHC. I never dealt with BHHC, never spoke to them, never paid them, etc. I only dealt with Geico. Further when I asked about the $400 due to me under the statewide refund from the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association, they claimed nothing was due or that alternatively the matter was with BHHC. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after five minutes, was told they were all in a meeting, and none available. They also said two of them said there was no such thing as the $400 refund, which is required to be refunded by May 9 at the latest. This is ridiculous.

    Huge let down in the claims department

    A customer of GEICO hit my car on 3/15/22 and then lied about it. A fort bend officer came out but didn’t write a report. He said the guy already admitted to hitting my car so I won’t have any problems. He said everything is being recorded so if I have a problem to just have the insurance company get a copy of the recording. The guy lied to the insurance company about hitting my car. I have talked to 5 different people from GEICO and provided them with who to talk to to get the recording. The sergeant from the constables officer has told GEICO how to request the recording. The sergeant provided me with the name of the GEICO employee that he gave the information to. I called today which is weeks later. GEICO has denied to pay for my car and failed to get the recording from the officer. Every time I get a call from Geico it’s a different person and I have to give them all the information all over again. They’re the worst at handling claims.

    Geico has changed a lot post-pandemics

    Geico has changed a lot post-pandemics. They're more focused on saving costs than servicing customers now. Prior to the pandemics, their claim department was responsive and helpful. Now they're practically non-existent. It takes forever to get through anyone. They mess up your claim and make sure that you pay as much as you can. I was told on the day of the incident that it was going to be covered through comprehensive but later they changed it to collision and forced me to pay 1000 out of pocket. I provided all the evidence to them but only was told that they can't do anything about it 2 weeks later. I've been a 10 year customers but I'm switching this June because Geico isn't the same as it was.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HORRIBLE SERVICE! So I recently put a claim in because the vehicle in front of me dropped something on the road and it ended up ruining my engine. Geico set me up with an adjustor who dragged his feet for weeks and nothing got done. I only ended up having my new engine approved three weeks later after I called Geico and talked to an upper manager who finally after a month approved to repair. I got an insurance provided loaner which I had for almost 2 months because of the adjusters incompetence. Flash forward a month after I have my car back and I see a charge for 800 from Hertz, Geico didn’t approve past the month of rental even though I had the car longer because of their employees mistake. After four days on the phone I was only able to have a manager refund me half for their company’s mistake. Talking to Geico’s customer service is terrible steer clear of Geico at all costs! They have lost a life long customer! I wish I could give Geico 0 stars!

    Awful Customer Service

    We paid a lot of money for 5 years. When my husband called to find a way to lower our rate they managed to raise it by $150 per month and then they couldn't change it back. So, we had no choice but to shop around and found a much better with another company. GEIKO's rate was almost 6 times higher. When my husband called to try and cancel our policy he was bounced around from agent to agent and then placed on hold until the office closed and the agent never returned. He was left on hold and I had to call them from my phone while he was still on hold to find out the office was closed when my call went directly to a message stating that it was after business hours and to call back again during regular business hours. He would have been on hold until morning. They are a terrible insurance company.

    Unresponsive, unprofessional! Do NOT trust them!

    This is the WORST insurance I have used in my life! I don't recommend anyone to use GEICO's insurance. I had an accident on Sept 2nd and, by February 8th, they haven't finished processing my reimbursement yet. You are constantly left in the dark and passed to different people who have no idea about what needs to be done. If you sign with them, expect to spend multiple hours on the phone in case you need their assistance when you reach out to them. Unless you do it, you will be left in the dark. And even with that, there is a big chance you will not get the assistance you have paid for.

    Great commercials are the only positive from GEICO these days. After 33 years, I left GEICO on the "three strikes and you're out" rule. First, GEICO wouldn't offer the limits I needed. When my insurance agent went to look for alternatives in 2022, he found that there was a rental car reimbursement claim still open from 2017. It was closed immediately after my inquiry, but it shouldn't take my call (with an extra long wait time, of course) for GEICO to be monitoring their own claim files. Then a neighbor--also a GEICO policyholder--hit my mailbox and demolished it. It took GEICO two months to pay the $238 claim. Finally, to add insult to injury, despite my clearly providing these reasons for leaving, GEICO hit me with a short rate cancellation penalty when my insurance agent found a better alternative.

    DO NOT PURCHASE COMMERCIAL INSURANCE FROM GEICO!!! Unless you want to deal with a tremendous headache. The representatives are not fully trained. We purchased our policy in September and have yet been able to drive our vehicle because they have not submitted proper documentation to the state of California. In order to apply for a motor carrier permit. The insurance company has to mail or fax the filing form MC-65. Every single time we call in we have had to pay out of pocket more and more. It is now the end of January and they still have not submitted the filing. I was told on the 10th they submitted then on the 21st they "corrected it" I took it upon myself to call the state and the state said Geico never sent anything. They do not accept electronic filings. They are working through a 3rd party (geico doesn't even do the filings themselves) and now that I have the fax number WALTER the manager who is in charge of my case is no longer taking my calls and the 3rd party is stating I need a physical letter from the state asking the insurance that they want fax or mail or else they will not send it. This is completely ridiculous and unprofessional. We've already paid them thousands that we will not be getting back and was told that even if we cancel they can't cancel our policy right away it will take a 4-12 weeks to cancel because they will have to contact each department and the state before we can cancel!!!! Don't waste your time and money with a company that does not have proper training. That lies at every phone call and ask for more money. And that does not let you cancel.

    Geico is by far the worst insurance you could have. Above all, their customer service is atrocious. From email to email, different information is given out including threats to cancel my already paid for insurance... because someone messed up my autopay and then someone else messed up the paperwork in order to cover up Geico's lies. I recorded the calls and kept the emails. Each call and email, a new lie and 2 more hurdles each time. They want money for a vehicle that hasn't moved even though the insurance was canceled by me (I have 2 with 2 drivers)... they still intend to keep the stolen extra. They are uncooperative and still haven't been able to figure out how to fix their autopay glitch. The glitch is their loophole to act as if you hadn't paid, in order to have you cover your own collision costs, if they are actually needed. Our relationship has only ever consisted of me giving them more money... raising my rates after perfect driving, to only give me the run around (claiming I'm insured). Murphy's Law was written for clowns like Geico. They should be jailed

    Worst auto insurance I’ve ever had

    GEICO makes it extremely difficult (1+ hour hold times) to get a hold of anyone unless you’re buying something. My claims process for my car has been horrible… incompetent adjusters that are in no hurry to evaluate my vehicle, even though my rental car coverage is limited. They also use subpar used parts in your repairs. Worst insurance coverage that I have had so far. Owned by Berkshire so not surprising.

    I have had geico for years and have only had one accident, keep in mind I insure 5 drivers and 4 cars plus a house with them. I have paid tens of thousands in premiums. My spouse hit the garage which damaged the mirror, GEICO wants to use aftermarket, not OEM for a mirror that with blinker, blindspot protector, etc.. the OEM mirror is 200$ more, they refuse to pay. They now will not actually provide a written response to my requests to dispute the quote and only will talk by phone. seems suspicious to me. This is why people don't like insurance companies, I pay thousand upon thousand only to be nickel and dimed over a necessary repair. They only want to collect from you, not pay out.

It's now been 6 months and my claim hasn't been reimbursed. Wait times to speak with customer service are astonishing.     I can't wait to switch insurances to be honest. I get no updates on my claim what so ever and the adjuster? She takes up to 4 days to return calls , if she even returns them. I had to have my rental extended a couple times she never calls me to let me know I have to call the rental place to make sure. It's like they took my deductible and not doing anything with my claim although accident was not my fault. Will be switching insurnaces. No communication what so ever about claims.

    GEICO claims department is TERRIBLE!!! I have been trying to contact their claims department for over a week. Hold times are over an hour and they dont have a call back option. Worse than DMV! I finally got through last Saturday after waiting 90 minutes on hold and the claims specialist was not able to answer my question so she transferred me to another department. Hold time was long again so she said that she would email them and have them call me back. It's now Thursday and still no call back. I have spent the last 23 years of my life working in the insurance business and I have never seen such terrible claims service. If my company treated our clients like this we wouldn't have any. DO NOT INSURE with them and hopefully one of their insureds do not hit you!! Their commericals never mention their crappy service on the back end.

Reaching them by phone is almost impossible. You will spend a minimum of 1hour to have a rep start speaking with you. Geico not gonna get in touch with the other driver’s carrier for you. Geico customer hit my parked car on oct 8….he went online and filled out paperwork that he did not see my car and did in fact hit my car the adjuster doesn’t seem to care or want to cooperate I have called 27 times and left messages …faxed over reports twice …said they didn’t get them …emailed over reports twice and said they didn’t get them spoke to supervisor Heather she finally got the adjuster on the line with me now it’s November 7 still nothing nada this is the most horrible company to deal with for a claim …now I’m going to have to sue this poor man because his insurance company won’t cooperate…he has tried to call the adjuster….won’t return his calls either…

    They have raised my policy several times for no fault accident once. They say is no fault but you always end up paying the consequences of others. Go figure. My Wife was added on my insurance policy. They state is NY law. They stated since my wife can just drive my car. However my wife doesn’t have a license. So by law she can’t just take my car and drive it whenever she wants. They insisted that she needs to be added anyways. Which is crazy because I bet if my wife illegally drove my car and got into an accident. Would they be so forgiving then or would they hit me with the well she “illegally drove your car with no license so it’s her fault”.

    Today is October 26, 2021. My Claim was taken on 8/17/21 for a rear end claim. I was the one hit and clearly NOT AT FAULT. GEICO charged me $500 deductible to release my car from the body shop. Has yet to return my $500 even though we hire them to fight for us in times of need. Hours spent on hold. Nothing but hollow promises. Not there when you need them but can sure draft my payments like a well oiled machine.

    Horrible customer service

    I had the most awful customer service with Geico! I canceled my policy within 2 days of starting it. Now I have 2 charges on my bank account with funds frozen!! I reached out to customer service and got the run around from 2 agents. 14 days to refund my money due to THEIR error! Do not waste your time or money on this company!!

    Don’t try and contact them by phone. Wait times are 1 hour and counting. When you do get through they hang up on you with no resolution. Ridiculous, WORST customer service I have ever had to contact.

    The worst insurance company I have…

    The worst insurance company I have dealt with… A GEICO insured driver hit my brand new 2021 Honda Passport and, after almost 3 weeks, I am still getting the run around from GEICO to get my car repaired. They recognize the accident was 100% their fault and yet, the process is still stagnant. I called numerous times (always getting an automated service that took me nowhere) until I had select to “buy a new policy” to finally get a live person. I finally got a supervisor on the line who stated that if they cannot make contact with their insurer and that there is a possibility they may refuse coverage to fix my car. They also stated that it might take several weeks for this process. The supervisor suggested filing the claim with my insurance policy even though this was 100% the other driver’s fault. I advised him that the door of my car does not close properly and when it rains, my brand new 2021 Honda gets wet inside, but why would he care? He suggested taking the car indoors so it does not get wet. Oh OK, I guess I have to file for a building permit to build a structure for my car or I can go the less expensive route and to find an umbrella big enough to cover my entire car. They are leaving me no option but to file a report with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance… Very frustrating in dealing with this company…

    Too bad negative stars aren't an option

    Wish I could give 0 stars! Had a hail storm in April that damaged my house. After filing a claim and getting approved, the roofer found additional damage and filed a supplemental claim. After several days of them hearing nothing from Geico, I tried reaching out and couldn't get anyone to help either. Finally, I found out that my field adjuster had been reassigned and a new one assigned to my claim. How do you reassign adjusters and not tell the client that has an existing claim? Further, as the newly assigned adjuster, how do you not reach out and explain that you're the new adjuster. Long story short, it took 7 months to replace the roof because of their games. To top it off, a few days after that storm, another struck and damaged my truck. Now Geico is accusing me of lying and asking why I waited so long to file that claim and I explained it's because I spent the last 6 months handling the roof claim and didn't want to deal with my truck at the same time after seeing how unorganized Geico is. Now my auto claim is under investigation and the shop is just letting my truck sit until Geico approves the repairs. I CANNOT wait for my car to get repaired so that I can end my car and home insurance policies with Geico. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

    I am trying to cancel a policy online. They make you call a number, where the waiting times are 30 minutes or more. For sure, I won't ever return to being a customer of GEICO after this. My blood is boiling trying to deal with the worthless automated phone system.

    My mother is 90, and deaf, when i set up her policy, in the notes i had her approval Now she is set up on auto pay, the current payment had a issue being processed Now all of her information regarding her policy comes to my email,.My sister and i also had renters insurance with geico.And i also have 2 policy with them,I have my mothers credit card and I'm trying to find out what's going on with the policy, i have all her information DOB,SS, POLICY #,I asked the so called customer service drone for help, again they could not do anything? Okay i have her credit card, to pay on HER policy they cant help,with out her approval which was given at the time the policy's went into effect I also suggested that to verify who i say i am to look at MY 2 policy's,,AGAIN I'm using her card for HER policy, really its the same credit card that i put on her auto pay.So folks if your 90 deaf and your children try to help,it isnt going to work,im canceling my 2 policys, as well as my mothers,Customer service my but.

    I had been insured with GEICO for about 15 years. We had 3 vehicles on our policy and sold one. I tried deleting the vehicle on the website. The next day the vehicle was still on my policy. This happened about 3 times and I finally called the office. The girl told me that she could not get the vehicle deleted either but would put in a work order and for me to call back in a week. Called back in a week, a different person tells me that he can't delete it either but will put in a ticket (whatever that means) and they would call me when the problem was resolved. At this point it had been almost 3 weeks since I sold the vehicle. After 1 week of not receiving a call back and the vehicle still on my policy. I called again and I said why is it taking so long to get a car deleted from a policy? They had no answer and made me feel like their attitude was, sorry, we don't know what we are doing so I guess you will just pay insurance on this car forever. Called Progressive that day, got a much better rate and cancelled my policy. ALSO, a few years ago a lady insured with GEICO came speeding down the main road in my neighborhood, lost it and rammed through a rock wall and into my bedroom, even sent the bed flying across the room. It took several weeks to get this settled because the GEICO claims adjuster said that they had been unable to reach the owner of the vehicle that rammed through my house. So, I asked, "SO you are you telling me that if this person refuses to return your calls and make a claim, you are not going to do anything about half of my bedroom being in the front yard?" What he said next floored me. We have to talk to our insured so we can determine fault. Are you serious, she ran through my freeking bedroom wall whose fault do you think it is? My house? Ridiculous.

    Time to cancel my Geico policy after yet another poor customer service experience. 1. In June, my battery wouldn’t start so I figured why not use their app. Bad idea because everything you’d expect to transfer over didn’t so I ended up calling the tow company and handling it myself. 2. I call in to shop rates on a renewal. The associate asks if I have an affiliation with Berkshire Hathaway so I can receive a discount. How am I supposed to know whether I do. The geico associate certainly didn’t know so I didn’t get the discount. 3. I use to handle insurance claims and coverage issues so when I told the associate what coverage I wanted the associate began to educate me as to why it couldn’t be done. I knew better than to accept a canned response so I explained I understood insurance coverages and I didn’t need to be educated why I wanted a specific coverage. The associate became upset and condescending. I realized geico wasn’t for me anymore when their associates have no clue how coverages work. 4. Even after explaining their rates for same coverage was significantly higher than Progressive, I told the associate I wouldn’t be renewing but the associate sent over a renewal binder. Upon review of the binder, the rate quoted on the phone was different than the binder. Overall, geico will keep spending millions on commercials but losing millions of customers. It pays to shop around even a caveman can do it!

    BEWARE OF GEICO. WE HAD GEICO FOR 49 YEARS! MY MOM PASSED AWAY, AND DESPITE THREE PAYMENTS THEY CANCELLED MY INSURANCE WITHOUT ANY NOTICATION. CHOOSE A COMPANY THAT PROVIDES CUSTOMER SERVICE Geico did not arrive on two separate occasions for their so-called roadside assistance. I was broadsided by anther Geico driver. Geico said I was at fault, yet they refused to provide me with a report or an explanation. I reported to Geico and Travelers on 10/22/20 that my mother had passed the day before. On April Geico cancelled my insurance without any notification. Both my mother and I had been Geico clients for 49 years! My mother, Eileen Raymond and I were both enrolled on the same policy with Geico for 49 years. On 10/21/2020 my Mom passed away. I reported her passing to Geico on 10/23/20. I said that both her bank account and credit card were cancelled, and I provided my new direct payment to Geico through my bank account. Geico assured me that everything was completed, and that there would be no interruption in future payments to Geico. On April 20, 2021 I received an email addressed to my deceased mother. It stated that they were unable to withdraw $734.20 from my mother's credit card, which of course I had reported to them as cancelled. I called them and made another payment through my credit card. They assured me that the payment was made and my auto insurance would continue. On April 24, I again received an email sent to my mother stating that unless payment was made, my insurance would be cancelled on 5/4/21. Once again, I called them and they said my mother's death had not been reported. Once again, I reported my Mom's passing. Once again, they assured me that the payment had been recorded by Geico. On Thursday April 29, I received a letter to my mother stating that unless Geico received a check by Monday, May 3 our insurance would be cancelled. Although I knew that Geico would probably not receive the check by then, I still complied. On April 30, I called Geico. They told me that my insurance was already cancelled and offered a new policy for $902. I asked them if I had been driving without and auto insurance and they said yes! I contacted State Farm and their insurance for the same policy was $904. I did speak with some manager at Geico who told me that regardless, Geico should not have cancelled me, but should have continued the insurance until October. I chose State Farm because Geico gave me no customer service, and offered no resolution. Instead of Geco offering condolences, they penalized me by trying to raise my premiums by $168. Geico is responsible for the return of my check payment. Geico is responsible for my increased premiums. Geico cancelled my insurance without any notification. Consequently, I had been driving without insurance which is in non-compliance of the State of Maryland laws. Geico has refused to allow me to contest or even discuss the above situations. I have been repeatedly informed that I have the right to initiate a complaint, and also the right to request a review, or make an appeal. Geico has relatedly violated my rights as a policy holder by refusing to address my complaints. Geico no longer seems to be interested in customer service or client's rights.     Unconscionable business poor ethics

    Our daughter sold her car and is looking for another. We decided to see what it would cost to add her to our insurance. Called GEICO to get a quote but it would have more than doubled our premium so we said no thanks. The representative on the phone said she has to add her anyways because she has a drivers license and she is living in the same house that is their policy. We said no, but she did it anyways and now our insurance payments have more than doubled and our insurance costs more than double what the car payment is. We can’t afford it my wife was in tears.This is a terrible cold hearted business that doesn’t care about people only profits. In these bad times to have a company do this to you is unconscionable. How can they get away with doubling your premium because you ask a question. Stay for away from this company and whatever you don’t don’t ask for a quote because that’s not what we got, our question cost us almost 3000 a year.

    I worked hard as a teacher to keep up with every payment, but this merciless company cut me no slack after one missed debit, during a time of crisis. Their negative reports followed me everywhere, disallowing me discounted rates and perks. I will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE, and as a PTSD sufferer, I hate that gecko...It is a reminder of how cruel this company is. 0 stars.

    Trust everything you hear...

    Trust everything you hear about how horrible this company is. Granted, they are an insurance company and could care less about reviews, so that gives reviewers the all clear to go in on them and just how bad they are. Horrible at everything from dealing with customers, lying claims adjusters who could care less about how something negative in the process affects you. Have approved locations for repair work but don't follow through on anything. Management who is non existent because they don't care. Period.

    Beware - They file claims without your permission!

    They filed a claim on my behalf and without my permission and they will not remove it. I called in to ask a question about my coverage for glass damage and when answering "a couple questions before we get you to an agent" those mother ______ took that little detail I gave them via their automated service and filed a claim on my behalf. That is now part of the public record and has increased my premiums when I try to work with a new company. I can't believe that this is legal, and will do my best to try to find a way to report this behavior to the authorities.

    I was with geico for 28 years both auto and homeowners. When COVID hit Geico checked out of its excellent Customer service into a billing nightmare. I never missed a payment yet they out of the blue billed 599.00 one month and then go back to regular payments. Of course I asked questions and no one could explained or give a reason or say what that amount was for. I canceled my policy and am now with State Farm. Geico is an awful company now. I don’t know what happened, perhaps their data breach was the beginning of the end of a good company! No matter! they are no longer trust worthy and I would do some research before giving them any business. Customer service has no idea and you never get the same person. Explanations are never the same and no one really knows their job at that company.

    I've experienced better.

    I've experienced better. So today, I've experienced the most ruthless Customer Service from GIECO ever. As a customer paying for a high premium you will get treated like a rat. Short story short, turned on the car with the A/C on, put the dog in the car with all of her toys and her bed getting ready for a roadtrip we close the door so that the nats/flies don't come into the car. And upon closing the door the dog jumps up to see where we went and she locked the car doors. Now once we noticed, we got on the GIECO app to call GIECO Roadside and we stayed on hold for over 20 minutes to then late on call the local PD to have them bring a lockout kit since most PD's have them. Once we noticed we never got off of hold from GIECO we reported the issue that we got locked out of our car from the app and GIECO cancelled our request. One major annoyance is that when you call GIECO Roadside you have to relay all the information, from policy number to what vehicle it is. If I call Roadside from the app. The App should import all my information. I shouldn't have to tell an automated AI my information when you have it already. This spent at least 5 minutes responding to this horrible AI. PD and Fire came, and once they arrived we opened the door with a metal fishing line cable. Soooo glad that GEICO were with us... with this expensive premium (sarcasm). Imagine if someone was in a forest with 5% battery... You'll either spend 1 hour on hold or have your request cancelled. You'd be out of luck with GEICO nowhere in sight because they don't care about you. Call 911 instead... a free service that isn't tied to your premium.
