AAA Auto Club Group summary

AAA offers home insurance in most of the regions where it operates as an auto insurance provider, with a wide range of discounts available based on your home and personal situation. It also offers 24/7 customer service. Getting a quote online with AAA takes just a few minutes. All in all, we were impressed with how easy it was to use AAA and by their multiple coverage options.

Pros

  • Includes AAA membership
  • Online quotes available for most counties
  • Plenty of discounts available

Cons

  • Some coverage not available in all states
  • Fewer benefits than other AAA products

Suitable For?

If you already use AAA for auto insurance, it makes sense to bundle and save with AAA home insurance. AAA home insurance could also be a smart choice if you’re hoping to manage your policy and claims online, but being tech-savvy isn’t a requirement as AAA also offers phone assistance.

If you recently renovated your home to be more weather resistant, AAA offers discounts that can help you save on home insurance. Because AAA requires membership for coverage, if you choose AAA home insurance that also means you can benefit from a range of travel discounts from hotels, car rental companies and airlines, as well as travel accident insurance.

What Coverage Includes

Coverage through the AAA umbrella is actually provided by a variety of insurers. Likewise, AAA itself is not a single entity, but a federation of motor clubs offering automotive services like insurance and roadside assistance. As a result, coverage varies from county to county and from state to state. In general, however, you can expect to see the following coverage:

  • Main dwelling: This covers damages to the physical structure of your home from natural causes, like fire or wind, or events caused by people, like theft or vandalism.
  • Personal property: This includes appliances and furniture — the exact details of what’s covered  and where liability limits lie will depend on your policy.
  • Other structures: These include other permanently installed, detached structures on your property, like a separate garage, shed, or gazebo. Your policy may also cover, for example, fences or docks.
  • Living expenses: Also called temporary housing protection. If, because of an event covered in your policy, you are no longer able to inhabit your home, you may be reimbursed for temporary housing and storage.

Additional Coverage

Depending on your region and policy, you may also be eligible for an array of additional coverage options. While the above coverage is typically included in all policies, those listed below may or may not be offered, and if they are, they are usually optional.

  • Jewelry and valuables: These can vary widely between regions, but your coverage may include small items of value, like jewelry and watches.
  • Personal liability: Personal liability protection comes into play when you’re found responsible for damages or losses to another person’s body or property.
  • Medical payments for others: If your policy includes this clause, you can be reimbursed for medical expenses and payments if somebody gets injured on your property.

Application Process

There are three ways to apply for AAA insurance: online, by telephone, and in-person. The quickest and simplest method for most people will be applying online. You’ll need to visit your region’s AAA site (they vary by state) and fill out an online form. Some regions may not be eligible for an online quote, but this is rare.

To expedite the quote process, AAA may collect information from third party providers, like consumer reporting agencies, driving records, claims and credit history. The online questionnaire is quick and straightforward, and only took us a few minutes to get through. We got our quote directly online , without having to have an additional email or phone call with an insurance agent.

Discounts

One advantage to signing up with AAA Home Insurance is that there are discounts available. First, you can save over 20% on your home insurance by combining additional insurance policies, like auto insurance. There’s also discounts for policyholders who have been with the AAA (or an affiliate) for longer than one year, and for persons aged 55 or older and who are retired.

Based on the state of your home, you may be eligible for a numbers of discounts: if you haven’t filed any claims in the past three years, if your home is outfitted with a protective device (e.g., fire or burglar alarm), if your home was built recently, if your roof is resistant to hail, or if it’s been recently renovated.

How Safe is it?

AAA is a large, well-known, national brand, founded more than 115 years ago. It has more than 60 million members in the USA and Canada, and is well known for its road-side assistance, auto insurance, and AAA travel ratings.  The Home Insurance branch of AAA has an A+ rating from AM Best.

Claims & Customer Support

Customer service is available 24/7; you can use the same AAA hotline for your club area as you would for assistance. You can use customer service to file a claim, or simply log onto your account on your state’s AAA website and file your claim online. Make sure you hold onto the claim tracking number, so you can check its status and easily communicate with customer service as you move forward.

Summary

AAA is an obvious choice for members of the auto club, but if you’re not a AAA member, that shouldn’t necessarily stop you either. There are plenty of discounts here, according to your home and personal situation. AAA is well-known and has a high AM Best rating. The application process is straightforward, and you can manage your policy entirely online if you so desire.

AAA I hope all your employees are as great as Gerald is! …

I was stressed out due to the fact our car needed to be towed, but Gerald arrived within 10 min (mind blown) and he arrived with a smile and so patient as I was trying to get the gate open. He made this stressful situation so much better and I can't thank him enough! Kindness and patience goes a very long way especially in the world we live in today! Thanks again Gerald!

I'm sorry this is so long

I'm sorry this is so long. If you can please read it, as it tells an important message. May 12th I had to take my brother in law to the airport. I used another family car. I didnt realize that the gas gauge was at 1/8 of a tank. I stopped at several gas stations on the way, only to find they were all out of fuel because of the hack. Well I made it to the airport just in time. Not long after heading back home I ran out of gas on a busy highway. I wasn't able to quite get it into the breakdown lane. I called AAA. They told me that they didn't have any gas. They said it would take a few hours to get someone there. They said they wouldn't honor the 100 mile tow that I pay for ( I didn't ask them to do that, but I pay for this benefit.) I felt very uncomfortable where I was and asked them to call the police. They told me I had to call them myself. Not long after that, a State Farm service truck pulled up. The driver gave me a gallon of gas which got me off the highway, thank God! THANK YOU STATE FARM. SHAME ON YOU AAA.

FIVE HOURS in the heat for a tow!!

From 1st call to time tow truck REALLY showed up was FIVE hours!!! Car won't start (turned out to be starter). 1st they sent someone who could only jump a car, then they called for a tow truck. Truck NEVER came, despite numerous reassurances that it would be there in 15 minutes - Then they said the tow was accidentally canceled - Without notifying us of course, so a few more hours and numerous rounds of BS from AAA and truck finally showed up. Location: Richardson, TX - ironically, there was a tow company across the street.

    Roadside assistance total failure

We have a premier membership for over 20 years. Our battery failed at 8:30 on a Saturday morning during a multi-state road trip. AAA said they would be there in 45 minutes. An hour later, I called them and they had no record of our call. Apparently the AAA employee failed to follow their procedures. Premier membership includes free battery replacement. We finally got started and had great service getting the battery at Sam's Club. I called AAA to report this on Monday, they said they would have someone from their customer relationships department call within two days. They were very annoyed that I bothered them with this complaint. Still had not called by Thursday, I called them and the person assigned was out to an appointment. AAA totally failed us with the most important service they offer.

    Great service

So far, I have had an excellent experience with AAA (Capitola branch)! They were transparent and honest (which is extremely rare for an insurance company), and gave me a great service! they also fixed many issues that the DMV couldn't fix. They might be more expensive than others, but I think it worth it.

    Unlawful charge.

Triple A charged my credit card 2 month in advance before renewal date without any authorization. I never signed for an automatic renewal, never do for any account. I called AAA right away and asked for a credit card refund for that unauthorized charge. It’s been 2 weeks already and I am still waiting for that refund.

I had a Plus account with these people…

I had a Plus account with these people since 2012. In 2019, I decided to not renew as I did not drive far and worked from home. When I decided to renew, I had the option to get a new account or reinstate my old account. I chose to reinstate my old Plus account at $56 but instead of doing that, they gave me a Basic account and charged me an admission fee which was not stated on the site for a total of $70. I immediately upgraded to Plus for another $38. My wife's truck blew a brake line so it needed to be towed. I called roadside assistance and they tell me that I only have Basic and will be towed free of charge for only 3 miles. I told the lady no, I have Plus and it is free up to 100 miles. She said where it was just upgraded yesterday, it takes 7 days to kick in. That is complete BS considering it didn't take 7 days for them to take my money! I will not be renewing and will use the roadside assistance through my car insurance from now on!

    AWFUL

AWFUL! Thank God I'm home & not by roadside. I called and hung on while they sent text. While I was waiting, they hung up on me. I clicked link on text and every time I tried to enter information, it kicked me off and started over. I tried MANY times. So my flat tire is in driveway and I am looking for a different roadside assistance service. If I were stuck on the highway, I don't know what I'd do.

I don’t even want to grant one star

I don’t even want to grant one star. There should be a 0 for the customer service and road side assistance my niece received last evening. She was stranded on the turnpike with a small child and her anxious mom after experiencing a blowout. The AAA tow truck driver was rude and did nothing to help. He escalated the problem. Her car was left abandoned on the turnpike and the state police towed it causing more complication!! Our entire family will cancel AAA service!!

    AAA leaves people standed…

I call AAA for service on Fri evening and driver took 1 1/2hrs then he checks my information and says I am a classic member and I would have to pay before he load my truck on flat bed ,I told him I am a plus member and it says plus on my card so he gets back in his flat bed and drives off and leaves me and Hummer H2 sitting in lot so by this time it's about 12:30 to1:00 so I had to leave my truck and call Uber for ride home come back next day and recall AAA to get H2 home . Driver tried to RIP me off my location was only 5 miles away even if I was a classic member I was due at least 3miles that I didn't get and I would only had to pay for 2 miles . Funny driver that dont care about owners reputation should be fired. Oh yea when I called AAA next day I didn't have to pay a dime and they said I am a plus member. AAA used different company this time

Aaa left me stranded in another city at night in dark and never showed up. When called for reimbursement for calling another locksmith to come so I could get home they have refused to reimburse me after being a member for 18yrs. Poor customer service on phone just kept putting me on hold and never coming back. Prior to this incident no problems, will have to find a different service.

    No loyalty to members

Member for 33 years. Decided not renew in January due to retiring and not driving much. Got repeated emails and calls to renew. Finally did in April because of promotional discount. Made clear that I didn't want auto-pay and that my membership was to start in April, when I took advantage of promotion, which the representative agreed to. Guess what? They enrolled me in auto-pay and sent me cards with membership starting in January. After 5 calls got the auto-pay taken off but was told (for the first time) that my membership couldn't start in April as there was 90 day grace period from when my membership ended at the end of January and they couldn't change it. So I got my money back and am deciding on road service from either my insurance or AARP, which actually will cost me less. So disappointed in how little they wanted to save my membership after over 30 years (most of which was fine except for a few long roadside assist waits), especially after they kept contacting me at first. Used to recommend AAA. Never again.

I have had AAA for a number of years…

I have had AAA for a number of years and have noticed that the waits for service calls were getting longer. However, recently on a road trip, I required service for a blown out tire. After over 60 minutes waiting on the edge of a major highway feeling unsafe and scared my car was going to be hit due to the small shoulder, I was informed I was on my own and that they had no one to send, two of their drivers were sleeping and the other was on a call and wasn’t available. Initial call had been placed around 9 pm. We were left to our own devices. Two days later I called AAA to discuss but to date, 8 days later, no one who they stated would be the person I needed to speak too ever answered their phone or returned my multiple calls. I did have one voicemail that I returned 3 minutes later and again no answer. I had AAA for piece of mind which I no longer have.

    Bad service in general.

At 830 pm I called and they never called me to explain, I was the one who called at 10:30 pm since I had been waiting for two hours for a tow truck to be serviced. They tell me they don't have any available. And why didn't they tell me before. At 11:00 pm cancel. Why do I want AAA service, if I am paying for a membership and in the end they cannot give me the service. Last year they kept me waiting for a tow truck for 4 hours. From a few years to now the service is very bad.

    Sam was great!

Sam was great! When he called i wasn't interested at all I had already received an online quote from AAA and was not impressed.I had also recieved a bunch or calls from bottom feeders trying to sell me a policy. I was over it and didn't want to hear another pitch ever again. However Sam was different and had a real sincere intelligent vibe about him and was very polite. So I told him my situation that I wasn't happy with what I was paying and the quality of the service I was getting. Not once did he interupt me. He patiently listened to everything I had to say.. When I was completely done basically dumping all my frustrations and feelings of resentment in general towords the entire insurance industry all over the poor guy. He then told he was really sorry about all I had been through and asked If I would give him a few minutes of my time while he tried to figure out a way to help me get my payment a little closer to my budget and to tell me about this company he works for. he then told me that there are still some good companies out there that care about their customers and that AAA was one of them. To make a long story short Samworked hard for me and I feel like I made a friend that day and he was so organized and efficient and did everything he told me he was going to do when he told he was going to do it. I am a very busy man and have to budget my time carefully so his precise timing meant I didn't waste a single moment of my day sitting around stagnating because of people who lag. I could not be happier with Sam and A.A.A He made my 23 year old son a Cal State Fullerton straight A student and my day saving us an unbelievable amount of money. Thank you so much for caring and taking the time make sure everything went well. I can honestly say my son and I could not be happier with our experience Thanks - Eddie Lee

If I could give zero stars for AAA I would. I waited four hours for AAA to show up in a Safeway parking lot and they never did show up. I’m 78 years old and I’m sitting in a cold parking lot waiting and waiting. Why would one have AAA when they said they would come, but they never showed up! MEMBERSHIP

Do not bother with car rental reservations internationally as they will NOT be honored at AAA pricing. The clerks will smile and nod and ignore the AAA quote and laugh as you pay their international rate. When cancelling the membership I was required to put my husband on the phone to cancel even though he had NOTHING to do with purchasing a dual membership nor PAYING for our membership. STALL tactic used to delay my request. I had to conference him in to cancel membership!! RIDICULOUS in 2021 that MY right to cancel MY membership was not taken into account until the MALE on the membership authorized it. NEVER AGAIN!! NEVER DO business with AAA. Thanks!

Don't get insurance from AAA. Almost 100% of our neighbors within radius of 2 miles where hail storm hit last year (2020) got their roofs replaced. They hired their best to discount our damages to within our policy deductible (2K) while roof engineers we hired totaled our roof from the storm. TERRIBLE!!

The people who answer the phones here in Socal area are very rude and unhelpful. They never have a clear answer for you, this is the second day in a row that i’ve waiting over 3 hours to get a tow, yesterday the tow company completely list our ticket said they had no record of aaa requesting a tow from them for us and made me wait 3 hours with no communication. Today I was clearly expressing frustration that no one even updates me and I have to call in 4 times just to get some kind of update over and over, she gets a major attitude with me. If you’re this backed up you clearly need more tow trucks instead of just leaving your customers high and dry, do not sign up with this company. My grandpa was an avid aaa user for many years, and they were always great, now they’re just jerks with endless excuses and terrible service. STEAR CLEAR! Oh and Leah in LA has a terrible attitude!

AAA: Don’t expect to get what you pay for

I have been a member for 3 years and only this month did I need AAA. What a horrible experience! First I waited for almost an hour. I had problem with my car in Newton-MA, not any remote corner of the state. This being said, it is just insane to take so long to reach me on a Tuesday, after 9am. After a 1-hour wait they sent a driver named Nicholas, who said he could not tow my car to the dealer (even though the dealer was just about 16 miles away and in spite of the fact that I pay AAA for 100 miles free towing!). He said he could just tow me to the garage recommended in his system, located in Newton, a couple of miles from where my car had the problem, and that if I wanted to take it to the dealer I would have to start the request again with AAA. I called the road assistance again and started it over. I waited for another one hour and fifty minutes. I called a few times in the meantime, in an attempt to know the status of my assistance request. After saying that they could not even precise, nor have an idea, of my wait time, this guy called me back from AAA saying they could not provide any accurate information because the truck was still in Newton (where I was), assisting a driver who would be towed to Canton at that time (farther from me than my very dealer!), and only then would they be able to come back to Newton to assist me. After a long wait, they finally sent a truck. It was almost midday, and I was waiting for almost three hours. To my surprise, the driver did not know how to move my car onto the truck. He barely spoke any English, did not know about the mechanism of automatic vehicles like mine (and like the great majority in the US). When I asked him in Spanish how long he has been working with towing, he replied 'almost a month'. A month. He did not move my car onto the truck, as he did not know how to!!! My car was only towed when another truck with his colleague came to teach him what to do. I feel these companies working for AAA will never prioritize serving AAA. They will assist anyone else instead (who probably pays them faster than AAA), and only when they have a truck or personnel fully available doing nothing, then they will send someone to assist AAA members. Every time I called AAA that May 11 I went through a long menu of options to hear the same standard apologies, while I was not assisted at all for over three hours, on a Tuesday morning, past rush time, just 15 minutes away from downtown Boston. If they could not assist me then, what if I need them when traveling on the road farther from home?

I have been a member of AAA for over 20…

I have been a member of AAA for over 20 years and my whole family are insured by them. I have never had an issue with them until recently, I was involved in a car accident ( some jerk ran a red light) I was on hold at the scene of my accident for 40 minutes bawling my eyes out and freaking out. The police had to call a tow truck driver for me. I filed a claim and was assigned “Shay” as my adjuster. I called first thing Monday to touch base with her and to change the location of the repair shop. My first impression of her answering my call was that she seemed bored and annoyed by my phone call. She sounded annoyed by my questions, then she stopped responding to my phone calls. There was an issue with the repair shop that I chose and instead of trying to deal with them, I had to personally call the auto shop and clear up the confusion, then Shay tried telling me that the auto shop was not AAA approved even though I’ve used them in the past. This whole ordeal has been stressful and this whole back and forth making me deal with the auto shop in ridiculous. I pay them monthly for this. Then, she tried blaming the auto shop for “dropping the ball” when in fact it was her unprofessionalism that got everything all distorted and confused. I tried calling her manager Gina, she was no help either! She didn’t answer any of the calls I made to her nor respond to any voicemails I left. This is the “wonderful service” you receive by using AAA. I don’t recommend them ever! I will be changing my insurance company and as will my family after this whole mess is sorted out. They have really gone downhill, customers don’t matter anymore.

I called AAA for assistance and was on a "high call volume" hold for 35 minutes when I called another number. She called also and was on hold for 63 minutes when disconnected. My husband emptied our trailer on the highway and took our trike out and went for help and gas himself in the rain storm. No help from AAA. No compensation on return home either. Don't waste your money on the road service. called our home office when stranded also and they couldn't help.

Cost me almost $50 to send an Uber to pick up my daughter the one complaint that I have about AAA is you all will leave women women and children single women stuck in middle of nowhere with "unfortunately, we cant help you if you cant pay for your tow". To leave a woman, by herself, or with her children with NO HELP is inconceivable to me. Because they ran out of tows?????!!!!! Ive been trying, TO NO AVAIL, to have AAA put back my two cancelled TOW calls. MY mother fell dead in her house August 25th. Roadside Assist asked me for specific dates of the cancelled calls. This woman begins reading me dates I continue to tell her "ma'am I cannot remember that time was a crazy time it's still a bit crazy for us as a family" Flippant reply was "If you cant remember the dates then I CANT HELP YOU" She then puts me on hold---- 45 min!!!!! Comes back on phone, I'm saying "hello, hello", she hangs up on me!!!!! I then remembered WHY WE STOPPED USING AAA!!!!!! Case in point day after Christmas the 26th I Tire bushing cracks tire falls off car on Highway needed immediate help was told did not have any toes when I knew I had two left only to find out they had never been credited and was asked don't you have a relative or a friend that you could call to pay the tow fee I was floored!!!!!!$ thank goodness my aunt was in town and she paid the $90 to tow my car a mile and a half, un-freakin'-believable!!!!!!! A gentleman called this morning THANK YOU and KUDOS ON THE FOLLOW-UP,( didnt help daughter standing for 4 hrs), of the 3 1/2 hour phone call. Thank SIMONE for her help. Those two are remarkable. As for everything else I WILL BE DROPPING YOU AS SOON AS I FIND ANOTHER RELIABLE CAR SERVICE THAT HAS A 'HEART'.

Aaa universe is a seller for Amazon

Aaa universe is a seller for Amazon, and I placed an order for a Cannon Camera that arrived inoperable. I contacted AAA Universe after talking to Amazon. I was told to ship it back to AAAA Universe, and I did so. I mailed it through UPS. I then asked for a refund from Amazon, but was told I would have to get it from AAAA Universe. I called AAAA and asked for the $650.00 refund. I got an E-Mail from AAAA with a photo of an empty box, and they claim it was empty. It had a UPS weight of 7 lbs. I don’t think UPS would deliver an empty box. Basically they are accusing me or UPS of keeping the camera. Of course that was a bunch of crap from this crappy company. Amazon refunded my $68.00 tax that was charged, but no assistance from them on collecting the remaining $650.00. I don’t see how such of a company like AAAA Universe can stay in business. They are flirting with a felony that could possibly get them deported. I wonder if INS know about them and their business practice. The U.S. does not need immigrants like them.

Call for service at 5:00 a.m

Call for service at 5:00 a.m. for tow service, waited 9:00 minutes for call to be answered, thinking I could get my vehicle to shop by 7:00 a.m., I was told I would have a 7:15 estimate for arrival of tow truck, could be early or later. They would let me know. Slow service, it use to be 1 hour, but 2 hours is very long time to wait. AAA needs better response time for call center receiving incoming calls.

    Incredable Service!!!

My car battery died so I called AAA. A very nice man named Dustin H #122 called to let me know he was 5 minutes away. Dustin arrived and checked my battery. I asked if he had a new one with him and he did! He was very prifessional and nice! Dustin also pointed out that I had some things missing around the battery. I appreciated that. AAA is lucky they have such a caring employee. Keep up the great work!!! Steve H

Triple A steals parts from your car when it's towed

I had my car towed by AAA yesterday it was towed from tampa to Eustis about a 2 hour drive I got an Uber after the tow man picked up my car. I left tampa about 1:40 pm and got home about 3:15 pm and my car wasn't dropped off until 6 pm they had my car for an extra 2 and a half hours and they were supposed to drop it off at my mechanic and call me and let me know they dropped it off. Instead they dropped if off at my house and didn't say anything, I soon figured out why. When I came out of my house and found my car in the drive way my back side window was smashed and the inside of my car was tampered with, they removed the whole inside of my car to get to the bare components and put it back all half assed that's why it was obvious they stole something from the inside components of my car and didn't even care to hide it. Please if anyone has some advice of what I can do let me know I've tried calling triple A but they won't even acknowledge what I told them and only offered the scrape price for my car I called the police and they told my it's a civil suit not an actual crime, so stealing parts from a car is not a crime WT F.

I've had AAA for 27 years & probably have used it 5 times. I called for a tow of my vehicle from my house to mechanic at 2:00 pm today. Rep told me 30 minutes. I was thrilled. Text updates told me 1 hour, then 2 hours. I called at 4:00 and now they say 5:00. My mechanic closes at 5:00. Snotty representative asked me if I wanted to file a complaint with a Manager or Cancel. Apparently 3 hours for a tow is their idea of service and I don't think it would have showed up at 5:00 either. I canceled the tow and I'm cancelling my membership.

    locked out…

we were at a giant eagle supermarket in Alleghany county, Pa yesterday when my husband locked the keys in the car. He called triple aaa around 11:45 a.m. and received a text message at 11:54 that a technician was being dispatched. At approximately 12:45 no tech, so I called again, and was transferred to dispatch, who said that a tech named Brad would be there in about 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, no tech. I called again and a manager that told me that the drivers name is not Brad but Phil, and he was in a neighboring town 2 blocks away and is closing up a battery case, will be there in 20 minutes. She then put me on hold, came back on the line, and told me she left a message on the drivers voicemail of our situation, assuring me he would be there. 20 minutes later, no call from the driver, no show. I call again and was transferred to dispatch, this dude says he is in Celebrity Pa. Is there such a town? And that I was told that being there in 5 minutes meant that the driver was finishing a job in 5 minutes, not that he would be there. He was a real gem. End of story, triple aaa NEVER showed up. I even called the local 911, and they said to call triple aaa! A very nice person who was shopping finally took us home. at 3:45pm. I have been with triple aaa for 30 yrs. I'm flabbergasted at this service

AAA 0% customer service and rude!

My truck has been at a dealer for 5 months and still has not been repaired and returned to me. I have bought a new truck since the for 32000$ to replace the one AAA has failed to get repaired. None of the 3 people who AAA has named as in charge of my claim has ever, in over 50 phone calls out to them collectively, answered the phone. On occasion, when I get a return phone call and talk to some one like I did yesterday, my issues are not resolved. Finally, yesterday , Timothy Bailey, reach out to me and we agree on a resolution that I believed I would be happy with but shorty afterwards I received a phone call from his supervisor , Mrs People’s, who was very unpleasant with me near the end of our phone call and told me Mr. Bailey had no power to resolve my issue and she did not even know why he was involved. The many times I have called AAA customer service about this issue I have been told Timothy Bailey was my adjuster, now I’m being told by Mrs. People’s that was a lie and he has no power to help me! Customer service from AAA is the Worse I’ve experienced in my 42 years of life from any company. Keeping Insurance on a vehicle is suppose to give the insured peace of mind that if something happens to their vehicle that their insurance company will have their back and get them back on the road, AAA is quite the opposite, they care nothing about getting their customers back on the road and they are perfectly happy and content with allowing their customers to continue paying their premiums and not replacing their customers vehicle or get them back on the road , in my case for an excess of five months!

    Best tow truck driver ever....ALEX!

I called AAA on Saturday for a tow and requested a flat bed. Alex was a life saver! He was a professional and very helpful. My Dad had passed away and I needed to move his car that had been sitting in the garage for close to 20 years. The tires were all flat and I had no idea where the key would be? Alex went above and beyond and even had to back the flat bed down a very narrow driveway and pull the car out. I was crying tears of joy watching. Alex is my hero and I will never forget his help! Thank you Alex!

    AAA NOW RUN BY NAZIS

I've been with them a long time but now they're taken over by male chauvinist pig. I had a tow sent to me to jump start and replace my in warranty battery, as per AAA on phone. He " refused service", charged me an event against my 4x, and laugh at me and told me to get a lawyer. The woman on AAA phone was a woman. That man is heart less. I want AAA to pay for their crimes against me, I need that man at least fired immediately. I demand restitutio. I demand all your for sale terrorists go down out of business immediately. I demand you are a new terrorists against women. I demand you give me restitution and fire the pigs, and I think it's time you go down as the male pigs in you are only apparently left to see for women to see. I never forgive. No negotiate from me. Just die you Nazi terrorists. I'm always right, correct. Poor you? Yeah right. And I get a lawyer, you're going to kill him. I was never allowed any lawyer. I will never stop until the pig who came and rebuked me, laughed at me, while my car battery under warranty still wouldn't start, us fired or killed. He looked on and laughed. There's security cameras here everywhere, so when he thought he'd deal with it later. GET RID OF HIM AND MAKE SURE I IMMEDIATELY KNOW. THATD BE A START YOU MOTHERFUCK . Did you kill my family, or us that coincidence?

I was a member of AAA for 26 years. In that time I used it on no more than 10 occasions. I had a dead vehicle which I asked to be towed to the local dealership. I was told that the car could not be towed because it had expired tags on it. I tried to explain to them the because of Covid 19 I was unable to get my car inspected. The car has 8600 mile on it so I was not trying to tow an abandoned car. If I could give them a -5, I would gladly do it.

This company has NO communication when it really counts.

On Saturday Feb 27 at about 11:20 pm our truck broke down between Globe and Miami AZ. We were not able to get off the road but we were traveling with friends that helped to make sure no one hit our vehicle. I called AAA and they sent J-S Towing LLC out to pick up our vehicle. The driver when he arrived was not please to have to deliver our truck to Phoenix. The vehicle would not roll because the transfer case was broken. He loaded it onto his flat bed and left. On Sunday afternoon we went to our truck to unload our camping gear and found that the truck got damaged when the driver off loaded it. The damage is more than the vehicle is worth. Today is April 6th and I still do not know what AAA is going to offer to settle this situation. Last week I found out that now my vehicle is going to be towed, The shop we took it to has been forced to closed and is no longer in business. I have recorded calls and emails showing my attempts to reach out to AAA and I have spent numerus hours trying to settle this. The first person I spoke to would not help me over the phone at all and told me to submit my claim online. I was not able to find how to do this online and decided to call back. Lisa Redford was very helpful and help me to file over the phone. She told me I would hear back within 1 week. I never heard back from anyone so I tried to call again. Then they sent my case to another associate who told me that the claim was not submitted but all of the note were on file. That person assigned me an adjuster and told me I would hear back within 1 week. That adjuster contacted me and ask for photos to be send and he would get back to me within 1 week. AGAIN I never heard anything so I sent him an email that was returned to me informing me that he was no longer with AAA. Now I had to spend more time on the phone to try and figure out who would be handling my case. The new associate that they gave me contact information for still has NOT contacted me. I have tried to call him but the direct number is not a working number. He has NOT replied to my emails at this time either. I just called AGAIN and was told, you guessed it "I will hear back from him within 1 week". This is not the first time I have had issues with AAA's service but this will be the last. I work in customer relations and if anyone in my office handled a customer the way I've been handled they would be terminated!! Update as of 04.20.21- I still have not been able to settle this but since I posted this review I now have a go to contact who is emailing me; However, it is NOT in a timely manner. Hopefully this is about to improve.

This is for BATTERY REPLACEMENT ONLY !

This is for BATTERY REPLACEMENT ONLY ! They are excellent for roadside repairs and we've never had anythng but great service for jump starts, lockouts and towing. However, we were just taken for battery replacement Similar horror story I've read about on other forums. Right on schedule, our AAA battery replaced in March 2018, failed in April 2021 - one month after the replacement option ended. And of course, AAA testing states the battery is fine and will not issue a partial refund under the option for years 4,5 & 6. Our auto shop - one that we have gone to for years - is highly, highly trusted and regarded by many owners of Toyotas, Lexus and Acuras -- says the battery is completely incapable of holding a charge. They attempted to recharge over several nights and it could barely turnover the starter. Never buy a AAA battery unless you have no other options - you pay a premium and get a battery that has very limited lifespan.

    What a joke!!

Have been a member of AAA for 34 years. Wife used it once around twenty years ago. Yesterday was my first & last attempt to ever use it. In my eighty years on this planet this has to be the single most dysfunctional business that I have ever had any dealings with. It must be 98% operated by robots. Probably the only happy AAA members are those who have never tried using it. BTW….My complaints are not meant to reflect on the towing company (McCarty Towing). They were there in a reasonable amount of time and very accommodating.

Waited for more than 3 hours and found out it could be even worse

Called AAA roadside service about 6pm March 26th, 2021 and requested a tow service. After provided all information asked, I was told the wait time is 1 hour and the tow truck will show up around 7:10pm. I waited until 8:45 pm with no one showing up. Called AAA and was put on hold for 30 min. Finally the tow truck driver called and told me it will take him 50 minutes to get to my location. When he arrived, he told me that AAA scheduled him to tow my vehicle at 11:40pm after a tow trip to George Town, which is 3.5 hours away one way. He figured he needs at least 7 hours and there is no way he can tow my vehicle that night. So he decided call me to let me know. However, after he learned that I have already waited for more than 3 hours, he decided to come over and tow my vehicle first. If he did not call and show up, I would have to sleep in my vehicle overnight. I know AAA service is bad from my experience in the past but I never expected AAA can be this bad!

Three Hours by the Side of a Muddy Road

My husband and I were coming home at about 9:30 p.m. when we turned off pavement on to the gravel road where another half-mile would have gotten us home. Unfortunately, between the spring thaw and a steady all-day rain, our "gravel" road had turned to mud on all but the very center track. In no time, we were thoroughly mired, unable to move. No problem, we thought. We have AAA! We called the number for roadside assistance, gave our situation and location, answered several other questions about the safety of our situation, etc. and were informed that, because of our location, on a rural road, it might be anywhere from one to two-and-a half hours before help could reach us. The woman on the phone was courteous and very kind. By this time it was just before 10 p.m. We settled in to wait. We received none of the reassuring updates we'd been told to expect for the next two-and-one-half hours. When that time elapsed we called again, gave our case number and were reassured that we had NOT been forgotten. The AAA employee (a different one) said something about the "first station" not being able to take the call and I'm not sure what else. But she kindly asked if there was anywhere we could shelter out of the weather. There wasn't, it being by now 12:30 a.m., but it was a kind thought. She told us that we should be hearing from the "dispatch team" shortly, which we then did. We were asked some more questions about our situation and the nature of the services we needed. (Hadn't we already covered all of this?) From then on we got regular updates on the progress of things and at about 1:40 a.m., or slightly more than three-and-one half hours after our initial call, a tow truck arrived. When we told the driver the story of our long wait, he confided that it was not the first such report he had heard from a AAA member. He recommended that if something similar happened in the future we could call the towing service (a AAA contractor) directly. The driver could then take a picture of our membership card and bill AAA for the tow. While everyone we dealt with were extremely cordial and seemed to genuinely want to be helpful, but we couldn't escape the impression that not much movement had been made to help resolve our situation until after our second call to AAA, even though the second roadside assistance operator seemed to have all of our information. We have no idea why it took so long for us to receive the help we needed, but suspect that it may have been some sort of problem in AAA's system for managing roadside assistance calls. We hope they can rectify the problem soon, or this may well be the last year of our membership.

AAA failed us twice in IL

AAA failed us twice in IL. For two separate incidences they never showed up. Used on 2/22/21 the AAA app to schedule a tow and called them because my little car was stuck in the alley. Waited 3.5 hours and called to check status and was told they haven't dispatched my call because of high volumes and I am in the que. Called after another hour still same. A neighbor and my husband were able to push it out after using a bunch of Kitty liter under the tires. In September 2020 had a roadside assistance need and they never showed up then either. It is unreliable and the app ETA is meaningless since on both occasions the app counted down from 3 hours but no drivers were ever dispatched. Thinking about if AAA is worth keeping.

I was contacted on 2/19 in the evening by a rude individual who basically told me the roads are bad and the tow service will get there when they get there. This was not true we were able to go out earlier that day thanks to a relative to get some essentials. The main roads were clear and dry and even the smaller secondary roads had been plowed. Finally, on day six I received a call from a tow service that advised me they had only received the assignment on 2/19 at 7pm in the evening. The tow had never been assigned in spite of my many calls and several e-mails for five days ! I rated Triple A one star only because there is no selection for zero stars !!!!

I have had 3 occasions to call AAA over the past 10 years and each one of the 3 they failed me or service was way to long of a wait. 1st was late at night and I was on hold for over 10 minutes in the middle of nowhere and gave up. 2nd was in Daytona 2019 and when I was prompted to make a selection on my keypad I kept getting disconnected (4 calls). Then 2 weeks ago and the wifes battery went... was told help was al least 70 minutes out and it was sub zero out. Glad I was only 10 miles from home.

    No Thanks

Tried them for a year since a friend worked there. Very outdated company that still relies heavily on sending everything through the mail. And I was on a paperless billing system. Mobile app continuously routes you to the Auto Club division which made paying your premium a hassle. Ended up having to call in everytime. In addition to all of that, once you pay the extra auto club fee they become very expensive. Plans vary by region but I switched to Progressive for much less.

Car died in the middle of a parking lot…

Car died in the middle of a parking lot on a Sunday night, 5 degrees out and bad weather on the way. Bad weather NOT there yet. Called AAA, I was told I should get a call or text within about 15 minutes. After a half an hour I called back again and was told there was weather issues and I told them there was NO weather yet but if I sat there long enough there would be. At the 1 hour point with no call or text I got a hold of my son who drove out gave me a jump and I was on my way. At that point 1 had been waiting to hear from them for 1 1/2 hours and nothing. I cancelled the service request. I get that they may be busy but I at least expect someone to contact me to let me know some kind of estimate. I will be looking for a different roadside service after 24 years with AAA.

24 Years and I am leaving. AAA is garbage now.

Awful experience. They used to be a good company, I have been with them for 24 years. Extremely poor service. They contract with horrible towing companies. They left me stranded on a highway at night.

A really BAD organization to deal with. Their batteries are awful and when you need a jumpstart, the minimum wait is one plus hours. Consumer beware and don't waste your money. Invest your money with a portable jump-starter and a good battery.

    Motorhome stranded in Knoxville Tn.

i recently had to have my motorhome towed to Cedar Bluff Auto Care in Knoxville Tn. one of your auto care centers. My motorhome would not start and The owner was very nice and understood my situation being stranded. They found that my fuel pump was not working. Making a long story short, he let me plug in to his electric outlet so that i could spend the night there. The next day they got the pump overnight and installed it enabling me to be back on the road that day. Both the owner and and his people were very helpful.

    AAA is a horrible company

AAA is a horrible company. I paid over $130 and called three times, and when I asked a fourth time to get assistance with a flat tire, they told me, I had run out of my allotted help request!!! I thought for almost $140, I could get an unlimited aid request or at the very least, 6 times. Shame on AAA, and NEVER AGAIN. I will look for another local roadside assistance membership.

I have had Triple A for 2 years mostly for my kids and grandkid. The first year was a little disappointing when they told my son he had “used all his tows” and would need to pay full price from then on. Ok, wasn’t what it used to be but thought I would try again this year. My grandson had used his tows but still needed a jump. They sent him a bill for $55 and said that he needed to pay or get cancelled. Ok - CANCEL! It is not worth the money I have paid to have constant fights with them! It used to be you got unlimited service - now you get 3 calls even if it is just to bring you gas! Then everytime you call it gets screwed up and wait time is for hours! Don’t waste your money - get roadside from your insurance company instead. That’s what I am going to do.

    inexperienced aaa techs

had two service calls recently. 1st locked keys in truck. the aaa tech tried a useless coat hanger and yanked on my door frame so aggressively, i had to stop him, walk home 3 miles and get my spare key. 2nd call was a flat tire. tech came out and didnt know where to jack my truck up, he put jack dead center of the vehicle and just looked wondering why my tires were still on the ground. he asked me if i ever changed the trucks tires and if i knew where to put the jack. he then then put on a utube video to show himself how to do it. jacked my truck up without cracking the lugs and i had to tell him how to do that(i am a 66 year old lady). he stripped my lugs and couldnt get my tire off. towed me one block and left it at goodyear. aaa now taking one of my tows away even though they acknowledged that the only reason my truck was towed was because the tech didn't know how to change the tire, i will be charged a tow since they provided that service. made 3 calls to supvervisor and left msgs. no call back!!!

Beware! This company is the worst. They charge monthly payments on the eighth of the month. I joined 5 days before the eighth, not knowing they charge on the eighth. So they charged me twice for the month! When I joined and 5 days later. They refuse to refund my money! They do not care. Terrible company and customer service. All they want is your money!

    Save your money

Save your money! Avoid these shysters! Three times I called them, three times they rejected the job. My son slid on ice yesterday, badly damaged axle. First AAA truck says they couldn't back up the hill to get car. Then, said they would send another truck in 20 minutes. No truck showed. Then, they tell him they wouldn't do the job. I now only use my own tow services associated with my auto insurance. AAA is absolutely WORTHLESS!

AAA isn't what it used to be...

I made a huge mistake by renewing my membership with these folks. I paid for a Premier membership, specifically to receive the 4 free tows (1 200 mile, and 3 100 mile tows) They towed it to the first repair shop, which wanted to sell me a new transmission for $8K when I wanted them to rebuild it, so I called AAA to tow it from there to a transmission shop with one of my remaining 100 mile tows. They tell me that they don't tow the vehicle from a shop that they dropped it off at. Asked to speak to a manager in Customer Relations, Louis flatly told me the same thing "We can't tow the vehicle". So I paid for something that I can't use in the way I intented. Mind you, this was after having to wait 72 hours after paying for the membership, just to use it for the first time. AAA ain't what it used to be. It's now a huge waste of time, hope and money.

I've been with AAA for years recently I put my one car on that I keep in storage so I can keep the license plate number on it and I had to have the insurance not only did they overcharged me for the time I had the car on they added my bill even higher and then when I call them to cancel it they didn't cancel it so I even ended up paying more so I switched insurance companies it would not recommend them. And yes I did call my agent in the city that I live in they said they would take care of it and they didn't so I ended up paying them for something I didn't even have

AAA put me and my family’s life in danger

AAA Roadside Service put me and my family’s life in danger. Very unorganized and unprofessional. If I could give them a 0 I would. They put my life in danger with poor service and highly unorganized customer service. My vehicle broke down - battery dead about 1 hour into my 9 hour drive. I have the Premiere service with AAA which includes battery service/replacement. When I called in the AAA dispatcher was very polite and helpful. She said that the service truck would have a battery and get me on my way after a few tests. When the service truck pulled up they said they don’t do batteries and did not have one them. They sent me on my way after jump start and 1.5 hour delay. I knew that I could not drive After dark with the bad battery so I stopped purchased and installed a new battery. If that had been my wife or kids driving on an 8 hour trip it could have been a far worse outcome. They would have been broke after dark in a remote location. I can not trust AAA they put me and my family’s life in jeopardy. When I called AAA to discuss all I received was the runaround and bombarded with reimbursement forms to return multiple times. I asked to speak with the AAA Misssouri leadership because I could never get a good response than disdain that they had to deal with a customer. I was basically told I wasn’t important enough to get a call from their leadership because I am not important enough. WORD OF ADIVCE DONT USE AAA very unorganized and not with the $$ you spend. Many other good choices that will provide better service. AAA runs in separate branches for each state that make for a very poor customer experience.

Abysmal - Cannot Rely on What They Say

I am beyond disgusted with the abysmal service. Today right after picking up my groceries my car wouldn't start. It was about 9:00am. I called AAA and explained my dilemma (I am also high risk with respect to COVID); I was told it would be about 55 minutes. When I was coming up on 55 mins and hadn't heard from a service person, I called in and was told it would be 10 mins. I was told this twice more over the next hour and a quarter before someone actually showed up. I had $87 worth of perishable groceries in my car (including poultry and eggs). I would have appreciated the AAA reps telling me the truth so I could have considered other possible alternatives. The TRUTH is what was lacking.

    AAA Service call busted!

I have AAA road side assistance but to date I had never used it. So on Friday the 30th of October when I sliced the rear tire on my 2020 Chrysler Pacifica I called AAA. I thought I would get prompt service because the dealership was about 2 miles away and I am in the middle of town. But to my surprise I was told at 2:15pm that they would be there at or about 3:45pm. An hour and a half later/ 90 minutes? I inquired with the customer service representative why such a long delay? She had no explanation but told me that they might get there earlier. And then she asked me if I wanted the service call cancelled. Needless to say I was not happy with this extended period of time that it was taking to get to me. So within minutes of ending the AAA customer service call I did cancel the service call. I then limped my vehicle over to the Dodge dealership and had the tire replaced. If AAA cannot respond to a simple tow in the middle of town within 30 minutes. How long do you wait on a back road? Hours or days? How is that convenient? If this is their model of efficiency 90 minutes for a service call then there is something wrong with their model. I am not impressed with my first ever interaction with AAA. And I am sure a lot of people feel the same way.

    TRANSPARENCY

I have had an account with them for over 30 years. I don't use them often but I like the 'idea' of having a safety net when I need somewhen being a single woman. This morning I went in to change my account and delete my dependent who no longer needs to be on the account. I deleted him and then lo and behold the charge showed up as accepted. Why do I have online accounts? Because I HATE calling companies and being on hold and listening to phone jail. I placed the call, pushed multiple buttons and listened to phone jail talk. I was told very nicely that there is NO WAY to delete a dependent on the website. You must call. But there is NO statement to that effect on the website, so that is misleading to the public. No very transparent and a complete waste of time. UGH.

AAA never helped when we needed it

I've been a member for a long time and almost never use the service. My mom's car finally broke down on the road last week, and when she called for help they said 15 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 20 minutes and finally never showed up. She was stranded on the road for 3 hours until the police who were waiting with her finally decided it was unsafe and had to tow the car themselves. I had to pay over $400 to get the car released from their impound lot. I called AAA for a refund of my service that I paid for and never received, but they only offered me a pro-rated refund. They wouldn't reimburse me for all the months I paid for, but never actually received any service when I needed it. And they also have a policy of not reimbursing the $400 impound fee that I had to pay to get my mom's car back - even though it was AAA's fault that my car had to go to police impound in the first place. Obviously we're upset with AAA for this expensive incident and will not be paying for their non-existent service anymore.

    No respect after 32 years

32 years and we moved to a new state and received no renewal notice by mail or email from AAA. Car battery went dead which and our AAA would not work as expired 3 months ago with again no renewal notices... So we had to renew and needed the car started as battery was dead and they were going to charge us $75.00 or we'd have to wait 48 hours. Wow, after 32 years with them that's the service consideration we get. Got someone else to come and start us for $35.00 and will rethink our membership with AAA as we have services for these things through GM and also through our insurance so AAA may no longer be necessary after this kind of treatment.

    Dishonest Representatives

I called in to get a temporary insurance for a car I was burrowing from a friend, their sales department was extremely nice and got it all done without any issues, assuring me I will be able to cancel without any penalties once I have to return the vehicle. I had the car A month later unfortunately the cancelation department notified that there is a cancelation fee and it's all in the paperwork (I received the written papers in the mail long after I got the insurance) I didn't see it clearly in the digital version but that's my mistake for not being thorough since I trusted their answer that there are indeed no hidden fees, I had mentioned numerous times that I would be returning the vehicle obviously since I do not own it and would likely cancel or transfer the policy. The agent wasn't with the company any more (within only a month of me talking with him) and his supervisor says that he cannot account for what employees say (a very unusual statement).

This would've been a 5 star review but their underwriting department dropped the ball Big time. They mainly rely on Lexus Nexus to grab your info... And if there is any discrepancy, they will drop you immediately! After 3 weeks of going back and forth with the dmv and aaa... The issue was finally resolved by an upper manager that literally saw the stupid mistake and removed it... And BAMM, we have insurance again! Very thankful to that upper manager... Very disappointed with underwriting.

Very poor service at Bob Sumerel in Western Hills Ohio.I had a screw stuck in my tire. I had told the check in person that I have no other means of transport and I had to be on a job. After 20 minutes the car had not been moved. After questioning how long it would take he said 1- 1/2 hours. The communication was poor from the get go. Someone should have informed me that it would take 2 hours plus after I mentioned I am rushed. Tire discounters got me in as soon as I pulled in. I will not renew my membership and I will tell everybody about the bad service I receive from AAA .This is the second incident.

    AAA California BATTERY REPLACEMENT

AAA California BATTERY REPLACEMENT. Purchased a AAA battery less than a month ago. AAA technician promised a 60 month performance warranty with a 36 month replacement guaranty, "Just call AAA, we guaranty the battery for 60 months, and we will even replace it for free for 36 months." Battery quit yesterday. Called AAA, chose "battery service" -- the only battery related option on their menu. Technician showed, did not have new battery on him, jumped my car (took him FOUR TRIES), promised I would not be charged a service call, and then charged me for the service. Called AAA customer service, unhelpful agent told me that I should have said, "operator" during my service call, talked to a live customer service agent and requested a new battery, but since I did not do that I was charged a service call!! Insanity. DOES NOT EVEN MAKE LOGICAL SENSE -- what do they do when you call after 36 replacement guaranty months but still subject to performance warranty?? PURE SCAM. Needs to be investigated by CA AG.

Horrible experience with the Rhode Island driving school section. After paying $2,000.00 for driving lessons for two young men, the instructors did not provide enough driving lessons, had a poor demeanor when the kids got to the premises for driving classes and the operators who handled my complaint after both kids failed the driving test gave me no options, or remedies ignoring my claim. After, I hired a local driving school that only charged me $300.00 for the road classes, both kids passed and have driver licenses. Shady ambiguous business...

Member for 36 years GOOD BYE!

I have been a member for 36 years and will not renew next month, because their customer service has gone to HELL! I have had to try and use it about 3 times over the last 10 or so years! The service has gotten to where it is totally unacceptable! I had a blown out on the way to work just before midnight Monday July 27, 2020. I called the number on the card and waited on hold for an hour or so without anyone answering my call. I'm an essential employee that is forced to go to work through this mess! When I called later that day after talking to several people over the course of an hour, all I got was their apologies and excuses! The usual excuse that they are having extremely high call volume, which has been the excuse for years now! Or the excuse you have to wait for service to arrive, which was the thing that really pissed me off totally! Guess she wasn't listening to my complaint at all, since I reminded her that somebody has to answer the call to find out what my problem is and where I'm at first! One time before I sat on I-95 for almost 2 hours waiting for their service, with cars driving by at 80 mph or more. Finally I had somebody else come and change the tire and they charged me for the service call anyway! They make it impossible to talk to the corporate office to make a complaint, because they don't care about customer service, only collecting your money!
