Application Process

The application process is simple, smooth and accessible. You can apply online, on a desktop, tablet or mobile device, by filling out a short form and providing some basic information. In order to pre-qualify and see the rates you qualify for, it will not require your social security number, and it will not affect your credit score.

After receiving a response, the information shared is then analyzed and the appropriate lenders for the application are sorted. The representatives at Tresl do the rest of the work of matching, preparing the application and transferring the money between the banks. To make an application the minimum credit score required is 500 and your monthly income should be at least $1,500. An application will only be sent to a lender if a customer pre-qualifies, in which case a credit pull could affect your credit score. 

Loan Types and Terms

Loans are mid-term to long-term, from 36 months to 84 months. However, it is advised not to extend the loan duration for more than 60 months. The requirements and restrictions to get a loan from the lenders associated with Tresl are:

  • A minimum credit score of 500. The interest rates and savings you will be making depend considerably on your credit score.
  • A minimum monthly income of $1,500 or above
  • Vehicle must be less than 10 years old and under 150,000 miles

Repayment Options

There are no benefits and interest rates will not be given in the case of a prepayment. Depending on the individual lender, there may be a late fee applicable for delayed payments.

You will have to ask and then wait and then hope they respond before you get tired of waiting and ask again. Be prepared to be tired of waiting and tired of feeling ignored and tired of them.

Great deal, patient process no haggling the price is the price. So don’t expect any discounts for flaws in the vehicle. Always be ready to walk away. If that be the case. So I feel like my down payment was kept so keep an eye out for that. But if you are not willing to deal with try and get your own financing you have to pay someone to do it for you. Which is a considerable feat to tackle. My agent has earned the 400$ processing fees. Just get an understanding what exactly are you paying for outside of the vehicle, where there is no surprises. However this is the second vehicle purchased through this company tresl and/or ifs and they got me done. Thank You.

Entirely too long of a process
Entirely too long of a process. My home mortgage closed and funded faster. Did not receive a list of items needed from the beginning. Three weeks in Antonio alleles for a current state vehicle inspection report. I don’t have the vehicle, since it’s not mine. He incorrectly assumed I was driving the vehicle. That’s just a dumb assumption. It took two days for the company with the truck to get it inspected for me. I sent a picture of the inspection to Antonio on 1/27. On 1/30 I followed up. He didn’t respond that he didn’t get the inspection report until 2/2. The entire process went the same way. How the hell does it take a month to get an auto loan funded!?

Title/Tag Nightmare
I purchased a vehicle from a rental company. Tresl handled the paperwork. The initial process was pretty smooth all the way thru securing financing and making my down payment. Once the process moved to their titling department though communication stopped. It has now been 5 months since I purchased my vehicle and I'm still unable to get a tag because Tresl did not complete the title paperwork correctly with the clerk and won't respond to my request or the clerk's request to correct the paperwork so that I can get a tag for the vehicle. If Tresl doesn't have a local presence in your area I would avoid working with them if possible.

Different Experience. Be prepared.
The price was right. The ease of taking a test drive and then just keeping the car was good. The people were all very kind. However, the process can be a bit confusing because it is so different to do everything on line. The only live person I met in the whole process was the guy who ran the rental counter.

I paid cash to I can't comment on the loan application process, but my remote purchasing experience was easy, and my financial advisor was very helpful with any questions. There were a number of fees that were not immediately obvious at the beginning (but were clearly stated before agreeing to buy the car) in particular a non-negotiable $399 "logistics" fee to AVIS despite the fact that the car was purchased locally. So if you are buying from AVIS mentally add $400 to the advertised price of the car.

Terrible experience
We found Tresl when looking at loan options to buy out our lease on a 2020 Nissan. Things started well - they matched us with a lender and got us a competitive rate. But then it all went downhill fast. The payoff check from the bank showed up a day late, so we incurred over $400 in late fees from Nissan. Tresl was also supposed to arrange the new title and registration. The process was supposed to take 4-6 weeks, and now almost 2 months later, we still don't have our new registration and plates. It's been a nightmare. No accountability and terrible customer service. If you're considering them, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I feel that it took way to long. I have never had to sign and provide so many documents for a loan. Total time was close to a month.besides the time I believe the agent lied to me and did not do her job. If she still works there she should be terminated.

Surprised at how long the process takes
Liked: Ease of having 1 company execute everything in the transaction to buy my company car: Finding a loan and taking care of the title transfer / plates. Disliked: Very slow process. 2-3 weeks to close a car loan and an additional 6-8 weeks to get plates doesn't make any sense. If I bought a car from a dealer a dealer and have both done within a couple of hours. Actually could have secured a loan through my credit union and gone to the local DMV and had plates in a much shorter time period.

Wrote a previous review and gave 5 stars. First half of the transaction went almost flawless. Better than I expected. Second half not so great. It got done but not without some hiccups. Especially when it came to communication about the issues that came up. Not good. It all got done and we received our title from DMV last week. So overall a good experience that I would be willing to do again if needed.

You guys are not honest with customers Carfax shows no damage to vehicles most vehicles that I looked at I can go out and find structural damage I think you're selling through a third party so the third party can say what the Carfax state thank you guys are very dishonest most vehicles are probably sent to some mom and pop shops for repair it's not put into a database so the damage does not show up on a Carfax honesty is easy whenever I looked at vehicles I can always find damage but you guys always try to force to sell on anyway just be honest.

Failure to Perform
Sadly, my experience is very similar to all the other negative reviews posted. My problem has been with the titling process. Tresl submitted titling paperwork to my DMV in Colorado two months ago and it was rejected for several reasons. It is still not resolved and Tresl has not responded to my numerous email and voice mail messages. This is by far my worst experience purchasing a vehicle in 50 years.

When I tried to reach out to buy my car for cash the only person I could get a hold of for a week was someone who didn't handle cash sales. He went out of his way to help me and promised each time I talked that my representative, Katerin, would contact me. I called and left numerous voicemails to no avail, I later found out she was on vacation and didn't leave a message letting me know that. When she did finally reach me it was a long laborious process to get all the paperwork put together and submitted. From when I first started and wanted to send the money to buy the car to finally paying (not sure when the actual title will come) was almost a month. Christmas and New Years was during that time which probably slowed things down but this seemed way to long. Katerin was always helpful when we talked but was never proactive in trying to get this sale done in a timely manner.

Jorge Benavides of Tresl for Avis Car Sales is terrible! The first issue came when we asked about a secure document delivery/upload system for sending copies of our Drivers' Licenses. His tone was disrespectful and dismissive when addressing this concern. He just wanted us to send the Drivers' License copies through email and tried to b***s*** that Microsoft Outlook is secure (roll my eyes). I work in the healthcare industry and never ask people to send Drivers' Licenses through email since it's not secure on their end (doesn't have double encryption). He was mansplainy about "buying a car" and tried to tell us that a $399 fee for not going with their financing was normal. We've bought cars before, thanks but we know the basics. He asked whether my spouse and I would be buying the car together. I said yes, "my partner" and I would and gave their name (which is a feminine name). He proceeded to call my partner my "husband" and used "he" and "mr" to talk about someone who is not a "husband." We do not recommend working with him if you are AFAB, a woman, or identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Very disrespectful, especially in 2023 when most people aren't so dense about LGBTQ+ or feminist issues. When we spoke to the manager to request to work with a new sales rep the manager minimized the issue stating, "if you met Jorge in person I'm sure you wouldn't feel like that" once we explained the situation and then proceeded to try to persuade us to work with him because they were just really "understaffed" and swamped. Sorry, not sorry. We are not going to work with someone who is going to be disrespectful, sexist, and homophobic just because you don't want to have to go through the process of getting us a new sales rep. That is harmful. Ultimately, the manager did get us connected with a new sales rep who was upfront, transparent about the process, and very respectful. We ultimately decided not to work with Tresl at all when it came out that they are unable to work with the financing institution we already had a relationship with and they admitted they can't work with most outside financing because they aren't able to get copies of titles over to those institutions since the titles are held by AVIS. We thought buying through AVIS could help us avoid some of this c*** that's so normalized when buying a car. But sadly AVIS isn't above it and they are not upfront about the nature of their relationship with Tresl.

Avis purchase and what a mistake. Hidden fees after very lengthy painful negotiation and close. Slow and unresponsive and uncommunicative process to get to title processing after many weeks, and still no conclusion. If you are self financing your purchase, forget it. Trellis could care less.

I am overall happy that I went with Tresl. They made the process easy. There were some timely issues that took longer that I thought it would to get my loan (over 2 weeks). Also, it would be great to have a checklist or booklet outlining the process to track progress so that I didnt have to always email my advisor. My financial advisor was great.

The biggest disappointment I have is…
The biggest disappointment I have is that my finance advisor would say one thing regarding timelines in the buying process (of an Avis vehicle) but the actual timeframe ended up being way longer. Also, she was unavailable when I needed to speak during business hours. My finance advisor also went on vacation and never even gave me an alternate person to contact. And this was during the most crucial time of the buying process. Two stars is kind of being nice actually. Overall, the transaction took almost a month to complete, but I would do it again based on the price and price alone.

I purchased a 2021 camry from Avis Car Rental with Texas license. Paid cash did not take out a loan. Took over 6 werks to have the Title. I am 77 and purchase over 20 cars/trucks in my lifetime and never experienced the confusion of tnis purchase. Purchased my last car from Enterprise and it was only 2 weeks to get the title. People are OK, but process is too long
I purchased a vehicle that was previously leased by my employer. Every time I have purchased a vehicle the titling process was completed in a day. This process was four weeks long and the charge to me was $600. I could have the same process completed by a local title agent for $45 and 20 minutes. Overall, the folks were generally cordial and fine to deal with. Except for the notary who was terse and was not forthcoming when I asked questions about process. The process involved too many steps. Four weeks and $600 to process a title transfer and cash purchase is too much time and money.

Nightmare Experience
Nightmare Experience! I do not recommend purchasing a vehicle using the services of Avis, who linked me to Tresl. With specific regard to Tresl, the gentleman I was initially paired with to help me through the purchase process was named Jefferey. He was always respectful, but from the onset I had a very hard time hearing him. This was due to the phone audio sounding very muffled. This caused what should have been an easy conversation into one that lasted over the course of a few days. Even after requesting the gentleman try to ameliorate the situation, no improvements were made for several days. After multiple calls over multiple days to Tresl, something in the purchasing quote was not correct. There was a significant difference between documents I had been emailed and on the online payment portal. There was a difference of over $700. Due to the phone connection problem, it was a challenge to sort it out efficiently. I was actually the one who caught the error and brought it to the attention of the Tresl professional that was in charge of my paperwork. In short, an error he made didn't correctly adjust the price I was seeing online when I needed to make the final payment. Purchasing a vehicle can be one of the biggest investments an individual makes in their lifetime. It’s not unexpected for this process to be stressful. As someone who has been fortunate enough to buy a vehicle in the past, and as a small business owner, I feel a duty to try and communicate my experience so that something positive can result for others in the future. I’m pleading with you to make a positive change in your business practices so that no one else has to experience this degree of difficulty when trying to purchase a vehicle. Especially, in relation to how Tresl partners with Avis. The combination of both companies lack of good customer support is frightening.

They put a lot of trust in the person who test drives to purchase their vehicles. I thought that they had forgotten that I had test driven the car and was ready to purchase it. To whom it may concern, My name is Nicolas Leblanc and I paid off my 2019 Kia Sorrento on 9/27/2022. I asked that the title of the vehicle be put in my son's name, Tom Leblanc Claverie.The reference number for this transaction is A22090462. It is now 12/29/2022 and I have not received the title. My son needs the vehicle to go back and forth to school but cannot drive it because it cannot be insured. This situation has gone on too long. I paid $19,034.47 and I cannot use the vehicle. This is unacceptable. I was informed by a title specialist in your office that the Florida DMV has advised that the title was in both my name and my son's and that my license was expired. I wanted the title to only be in my son's name. I have no intention on renewing my license at this time as I will be out of the country. Please advise on what I need to do to get this rectified and when. I look forward to your prompt response. Very truly yours,

I’ve had the car for more than 3 weeks. I haven’t received registration or a plate, I never heard purchasing a car takes more than 3 weeks to finish the settlement. I’m not buying a building. Buying from Avis was a bad idea, I’m not happy with the service. When I received the car, the car was dirty, four bad tires, bad router, bad brakes, Thank you anyways. Tresl - The Intermediat I have purchased 4 cars now from Avis/Tresl. Similar experience every time. Tresl gets paid then disappears from communication - any issues are not their fault - it's Avis's fault. But good luck contacting anyone from Avis. Tresl gets paid service fees then fails to provide service... On the last purchase: The vehicle was provided with one key fob and zero key blades. I was promised by my Tresl rep PRIOR to my agreeing to purchase that a key blade and 2nd key would be mailed to me after I made payment. It has been~10 weeks and it has not been delivered. Estimated cost from dealer is $500. No more replies from Tresl. No means of contacting anyone at Avis.

Penalties because of their incompetence
They took forever to process everything and now because of it I have a penalty and interest because it took them 2 months to pay the state taxes when they are due within a month. I contacted my rep several times and crickets. No returned calls, no returned emails. UPDATE: I emailed them over a week ago amd they were going to "I will escalate this to our direct accounting team to see if we are able to provide this reimbursement" what do you mean see? Your company failed to take care of the taxes in the time frame set by the state of Illinois which resulted in penalties and interest for me. I had NOTHING to do with your company being incompetent. I have not recieved a reply in over a week. I will be contacting the secretary of state as well as our states attorney.

Will someone please contact me??? I've received no response (again) to my email and DMV receipt to have the money you overcharged me returned (Note: They will charge you extra tax in the state their company is based in, even though the vehicle has never been in that state, look VERY carefully at their charges as anybody using this service is paying a lot of extra costs). Regarding the "service" your company has provided that extended what should have been a single day process into 3 months of unnecessary complications, mistakes, and unreturned calls. I had to use SIX vacation days in repeated trips and countless hours of waiting in line, repeatedly visiting the highway patrol inspection station and the vehicle registration department to resolve mistakes and misinformation from your company. This process was an embarrassment to your company and the companies whose contracts you hold to function as an intermediary. Enterprise and absolutely anyone else needs to stop doing business with Tresl until they get their act together. I paid you a considerable amount of money and in the end your representative admitted you couldn't actually do the job (certainly not in any reasonable time frame) and had to send me the title so I could just go and do the job myself. doing business with them again until our representative can truthfully tell us your company has learned how to actually provide the service it's selling (or if they stop doing business with your company).

Been waiting for 5 months to get my title after payment to TRESL
Hyundai recommended TRESL for the buyout of my lease. I followed all the instructions including the transfer of funds to TRESL. The process was completed in August 2022 and I was advised an agent was going to contact me with the info of my vehicle title which after 5 months I have not received. Contacting an agent takes an arm and a leg.

Be aware!!! The tresl stated that they paid BMW financing for my lease buyout. They even emailed a copy of the cashed check image from the credit union. But BMW is telling me that payment is not received and the title is not transferred. I tried contacting the Tresl rep. Carlos (8 emails, no responce). The Tresl website shows no payment due at this time, and I paid to BMW as invoiced. And now, check this, the credit union is telling me I am past due on my payment. Story continues: I am being harassed by the credit union about missing payments, and tresl is telling them that issue is being handled, and that they are in contact with me, in fact, they are ignoring my emails and not answering messages. Now, both BWM and credit union claiming I owe both companies over 50k and demanding payments. I am totally lost and Tresl is hiding behind 800 numbers and messaging service. 16 days after posted review I received a message via Trustpilot (get this, they did not call or mail directly to me) "Hello. Our escalations team can assist you with this and straighten everything out. Please feel free to reach out to our escalations team at (844) 202-3866." Do I have to reach out to the escalation team? Well, I will definitely keep calling. Will keep you all posted about my incredible journey in world of TRESL

Lack of communication

Tried to buy my company car via Tresl. WORST!!!
My company allows us to buy our company cars when we get new ones. I wanted to buy mine for cash, as I didn’t need financing. I still had to go through Tresl according to the fleet manager our company uses. I was sent a link to apply. Again, I was paying cash. Anyway, I filled out the application online and it would not submit. I tried on a Mac, and iPad, a Dell laptop. I tried safari, Edge, Chorme. Nothing. I called Tresl, and sat on HOLD for over 30 minutes before I gave up. My company got ahold of someone at Tresl and they called me to assist and they ended up having to apply for me. They somehow did this twice, one for cash pay, one to finance. Then? I got endless calls from Tresl to complete BOTH applications. After getting that sorted out, the process of needing to upload your drivers license, insurance, odometer photo, to their website wasn’t horrible. To actually buy the car? It was a nightmare. You have to schedule a zoom type meeting to sign paperwork with a notary, which was a mess. Then? You have to log in to pay for the car. You’d think that was easy. Well, I logged in, (which always requires you to have a text or email sent to you for a two authentication deal, which is ridiculous because you have a password!! You have to do this EVERY time you log in. My bank isn’t even like that.). Anyway, I logged in, clicked make a payment. Clicked “bank”, as I’m paying by check from my bank. I clicked the payment button as it was now lit up, and it wouldn’t work. I asked Tresl why? They said, oh, you need to go to Plaid.com and see if your bank is one that Plaid supports! What???? I went to Plaid, via the link Tresl sent me and you have to sign up for an account before you can check if your bank is on the list!!! This is such a joke and I cannot believe anyone uses this company!! Lastly, I noticed under “preferences”, Tresl had auto checked they would be selling my info to marketers to be able to email me, call me, text me and that Tresl would do the same. Worse company, worst car buying process, and I hope Enterprise Fleet fires Tresl soon!!!

Disappointed
The customer service for this purchase was the single worst experience for any vehicle purchase. Response to any questions I had were days (close to weeks) away, and of the numerous times I called my finance advisor, not once did she answer or return my voice mails. Last month, i had requested that the service contract be removed from the loan. I emailed, and called the advisor five days in a row without so much as a text from her. This only pushed back the signing session to the point that we finished everything on the last day of the application window that started back in October (we are now in December). Another issue (minor) was that I contracted the flu the last few days of the process and was unable to respond as quickly as I normally do. The advisor reversed course and called, emailed and text me numerous times requesting a revised insurance document as well as to sign a document they forgot during the formal signing with the notary. Lastly, the first payment date on the contract was incorrect compared to what capital one sent me I was warned by our fleet manager that the service left most of our employees disgruntled, but I thought it was worth the savings to go through tresl. I'm deeply disappointed that our employees experience this level of service, especially when we have no choice but to use tresl.
