Advantages Over Regular Bank

As one of the Big Four American banks (alongside Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo), Citigroup is the very definition of a regular bank. However, its online banking platforms offers numerous advantages over traditional banking.

Here are some of the top reasons to choose Citi’s online banking platform:

  • Open a checking, savings or certificate of deposit account online, without having to go to a branch.
  • Access to other Citigroup products and services, such as mortgages, credit cards, personal loans, and lines of credit.
  • Earn a welcome bonus worth $200 to $2,000 by opening a new checking account and meeting qualifying deposit and balance requirements within a specific timeframe.

Cutting-Edge Banking Services

Citigroup has invested heavily in its online banking platform. As a result, customers can expect to find plenty of great features on their banking platform and app.

’s online banking platform lets you:

  • Pay bills online
  • Send money to friends with Zelle
  • Move money between your Citi and non-Citi accounts
  • Set up balance and payment alerts
  • Add your Citi debit card to mobile wallets (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay)
  • Purchase presale tickets and exclusive experiences for concerts, sports, and dining with Citi Entertainment

Traditional Banking Services

Given it’s Citigroup we’re talking about, it goes without saying that online banking users get access to all the same banking services as traditional banking customers.

Here are some of Citi’s top banking services:

  • Range of credit cards, including 0% intro APR credit cards, balance transfer credit cards, and rewards credit cards.
  • Wide range of checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and banking IRAs.
  • Mortgages, home equity loans, personal loans, and lines of credit.
  • Investing insights and tools.
  • Free access to over 65,000 Citi ATMs around the United States and globally.
  • Small business accounts and credit cards.

Interest Rates and Fees

From 5 types of checking and savings accounts and linked checking-savings accounts to dozens of CD and IRA options, Citi offers many ways to save.  The Accelerate Savings account – available in select states only and subject to certain terms and conditions – offers a 4.25%APY.

Customer Service

Being a regular bank with an online platform,  offers its users several support options. Customers can get in touch by: the live chat option on the Citi website; calling online banking support on 800-374-9700; or by visiting one of the hundreds of physical branches in the United States.

Mobile Apps

For a large traditional bank, the Citi mobile app is pretty good. Although it lacks certain online banking features, it does provide a convenient way to track and manage your bank accounts from the convenience of a smartphone or tablet. Citi’s mobile app has been certified by independent financial services ratings agency J.D. Power for providing an outstanding mobile credit card experience. It has a 4.6-star rating on the App store.

Here are some of the things you can do with the Citi mobile app:

  • Manage your finances and get personalized spending and saving insights
  • Instant access to your bank and credit card account summary without having to sign in
  • Custom alerts for transactions, purchases, payments, and more
  • Put a lock on a lost debit or credit card
  • Deposit a check by taking a photo from your phone
  • Send, receive, or request money using Zelle
  • Ask Siri to give your checking, savings, or credit balance

Security

As a large bank, Citi has the means to protect its users from fraud and hacking. When you bank online with Citi, all your activity goes through 128-bit SSL encryption, an extended validation SSL certificate, and multi-factor authentication. Every time you sign in to Citi Online, your visit is timestamped so any unauthorized account access can be tracked. If Citi believes your account has been compromised, it blocks your online and mobile access and sends you an instant notification.

Conclusion

With , what you see is what you get: a full-service banking platform and app from one of America’s largest banks. If you’re looking for an online banking platform that lets you access all the services of a major U.S. bank without ever having to go into a branch, then it’s fair to say Citi does the job.

I used city bank credit card USA when I visited Indonesia. It was declined and I used other credit card. However, it charged me still with the amount that was not even alligned with the purchased I was declined. I desputed and explained everything to the dispute centre, it still charged me. Customer service and dispute centre really dont help. They are awful. If possible I do not even want to give 1 star.

Violated cardholder agreement
Citibank denied a dispute despite evidence being given to them that the cardholder agreement had been violated by merchant. When Citi says you will not be held responsible for unauthorized charges do not expect that to ever be true. You are NOT safe with Citibank.

Hold out on closing your account and hold your money
Initially, I didn’t think they were a bad bank. I just found a bank with more physical locations near me and that has better rates…I requested for an account closure, and my oh my has it been hell. I requested it in March…it’s now September. They told me back in March it’ll take 30 to 60 days for them to close the account. Okay, not a problem. Called back in June, still not closed…Called back in August; Still not closed…now when I called back three days ago they say that they have sent an expedited request for closure to the back office and to check back within 24-48 hrs. Wait 2 days, get the same response, called today and the same response. Just give me my $500! It’s been almost 7 months. Chime, Varo, and so many non traditional banks could close an account within 2 weeks and have a check sent out in 1. Honestly, ANY bank, traditional or not, would have the request done within a 2 week frame, and have a check sent out a week later. Seven months is actually insane, and makes me wonder what they’re doing with my money!

Citibank reduced the credit card limit overnight
Citibank reduced the credit card limit on both of my credit cards to the balance I owed, which effectively killed my credit score to 650. They sigle-handedly ruined my credit score overnight. Do not give them an opportunity to make money off of you.

Citi bank worse bank
Never leave reviews but jesus citi has gotten worse. Went to a local bank in Jamaica NY because I needed a temporary card last minute as an emergency. - Ghetto Girl in jeans (surprisingly) with attitude working at a branch "printer doesn't work" (as always, not the first time printer doesnt work there) - Takes about 7 - 10 business days for a permanent card. (LOL TD bank prints your permanent card ON SITE!!) - Citi App is always freezing especially when you are trying to zelle. Bad customer service. Tedious process to get a new card. App barely works. NO THANK YOU FOR THE HEADACHES!

They have the worst customer service…
They have the worst customer service way too much outsourcing and lack of training constant misunformation. Last bad thing was I opened a savings account in the branch where there was a special offer of high interest for the first 3 months I only got the rate for 1 month as citi said the offer had expired a month after I opened it. Even the personal banker in the branch was surprised. She opened a complaint and when i went to follow up, the closed the ticket saying it was resolved, never giving me the courtsey of a message, It was not resolved at all. I have been with citi for 23 years and it has become so bad i am looking at a new bank to take my business to.

Unable to register card, no help from bank
Applied for Best Buy card. Something went wrong with information that was recorded and been trying to resolve it since April without success. Every time I call I get connected to some outsourced facility in Southeast Asia where customer service reps have no authority nor desire to do anything to assist and fix the issue. I'm unable to pay my fees in the system because I still cannot register my card, Meanwhile they continue to charge me late fees. Incredible. Worst possible experience and feel completely abandoned and robbed.

They closed my account because I deposited a check under my friend’s name, my friend and I signed it. Why did the rest of the money freeze and I lost a lot of buying a house because of this reason

Even when you have undeniable proof of…
Even when you have undeniable proof of fraud or scam, when you dispute it - Citi always sides with the big company. I had a dispute for close to 100$ for a company that never delivered my item. I showed the delivery status with the tracking number, the missing mail requests with the tracking company, the email correspondence between me and the delivery company as well as me and the company I bought from, I showed them undeniable proof of this and they still sided with the company. Even though the report from the company says "not delivered". So even from my proof and the company saying they did not deliver the product they still said the charge was my fault.

I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They did surgery a week ago Tuesday and found massive spread. They closed me back up and gave me 4 to 5 months to live. I've never missed a payment in my life. I called all creditors and made arrangements to get my affairs situated and all balances paid. Hopefully with some consideration for hardship. Every company ACCEPT Citibank offered some help. Citibank, without notice closed my account. What an immoral, dirty, sinful company Citibank is. They literally closed my account because I'm dying of cancer!!!!

Great job!
So many people only take time to write a bad review. It is a pleasure to write a good one for once! Citibank has locations all over the world. I've used one in Brussels! With a bank that large, I'm always surprised when I go to my local branch, (Naperville, IL on Forgue drive). They recognize me by name! Even when they are busy, they find time to answer questions, or help with special needs. Is a home equity line of credit the best option? They took the time to explain the advantages and disadvantages. Good people?Good management? Maybe both!

Citibank doesn't care about regular customers
I've been a customer of citibank for more than 30 years. I paid off my checking + completely thinking it would be good for my credit. As soon as I did they closed the account and told me I'd have to reapply. They just want to sell new products and charge fees for everything. Pathetic customer service!!!

'Simplified Banking' At Citibank
Citibank is reorganizing YOUR accounts. By the start of the year, in order to avoid fees, you might be required to make $250 in Direct Deposits per month ...even if you only have a Savings Account. If you had been getting Thank You Points for using your Checking Account, that will stop. On the other hand, large depositors will again come out on top. These, and other changes, are being promoted, as something called 'Simplified Banking'.

Missing wire funds
I'm a real estate investor that was closing on a property. Needed to send a wire to escrow, but couldn't do it from my laptop (wouldn't accept my normal ATM card) and was told to go to the branch. The manager helped me and even called the wire department to ensure it was sent and they said it was. When I got home, Citi security wanted to verify it was me. Was told now it would be sent. This was noon. At 4 pm no funds. Called Citi and was told the funds would be there the next day. I asked why it wasn't there the same day as it was a wire. Long story short, spoke a number of people at Citi over the course of 90 mins--bottom line, they don't know where the funds are.

DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY
DO NOT TRUST CITI WITH YOUR MONEY! The company closed my savings account for no reason and tried to justify that "as outlined in the Citibank Client Manual for Consumer Accounts, Citibank reserves the right to close an account at any time and for any reason, with or without cause". They then refused to return my own money in that account for over 7 months even after numerous attempts with their customer service. I was only able to get my money back after I filed a complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Absolutely the worst banking experience of my life and shameful for a bank to put any customer, who depends on them to access their money, through it. I might still be left empty handed if it was not for CFPB so everyone with issues should file a complaint here: consumerfinance.gov

Just got off the phone with a supervisor (from outside the country of course!) from Citibank. We made a large purchase using the double cash card that we pay in full monthly by auto pay. They approved the purchase despite it exceeding our limit, didn't call or deny payment then reported the over limit charge to credit reporting agencies despite our paying the balance in full (before due date) as soon as we learned the account was over the limit. We were a great customer and that's how we were treated? Canceling all accounts with Citi by the end of the month.

Tanked my credit score for no reason
I was a Citi customer for 10+ years, have multiple cards with low balances, and have a 750+ credit score. Citi is a company that will reduce your credit limit from $9000 to $1000 with no explanation, be un-contactable multiple days out of the week, and after tanking your credit score (for making only small purchases on their 29.99% APR card) give you only repeated 'I'm sorry sir's. Their interest rate is higher than their competitors, their customer service is worse than any of their competitors, and their points structure is worse than any of their competitors. Use ANY other company for credit cards. Update: I spoke to the second customer service representative who also couldn't answer why my credit limit had been so drastically reduced or connect me with anyone who could. He correctly confirmed my home mailing address where I had received numerous mailings from Citi in the past, and to get me off the line, assured me that I would receive a printed explanation of why this happened within 5-7 business days. Its been over two weeks, plus the time I spent trying to get answers on the phone, and still nothing from Citi. No email, no letters, to calls, no texts, no notifications in the app. Just future plan-hindering actions done with no explanation.

Got denied for a credit increase
Got denied for a credit increase, needless to say I have a 800+ credit score, and can pull money and pay cash for needed loan. Just figured I’d earn interest on borrowed money over term of loan, vs paying off. Never been denied in my life for loan/increase. Have used citi bank in the past, but will never use again! What a joke, I went online and got approved for a 0% loan instead for amount needed in the matter of minutes. Typically don’t leave reviews, or complain, but what a miserable company to deal with!

MORE BANDWITDTH !!!
I needed to speak to customer service since my account was blocked. Obviously, I reached someone in an overseas customer service center. Citibank, however, has not provided sufficient bandwidth for their people (wherever they are) to be understood (in the U.S.). The problem is NOT their accents. The problem is the technical problem of their call center employees sounding as if they are speaking underwater. I have had this problem before and it is infuriating!

Terrible Customer Service for Banking
Wish I could give negative stars. I use Citi credit cards for years and have had no issues. Recently they had an offer to open checking account for a bonus. I put a good sum of money in to get a higher bonus but is difficult to het the funds back from Citibank. They said it took 10-15 business days to get the check and no tracking number or notification of when the check was sent. Customer service line is all automated and cannot recognize my check card number (I guess because the account is already closed… which is completely stupid). So it won’t let me advance to the next menu or options and just hang up. After several tries, I finally got to a live person and they couldn’t guarantee anything other than what I already know. Ridiculous!!! Hold my money hostage with no care or knowledge of where it is.

ATM message
Well I went to use the ATM and there is a warning on the screen to be aware of your surroundings while you are using it and I thought that was phenomenal. I hope that other banking institutions will follow suit and make their customers aware as well. I think it’s just so wonderful they have that on their ATM screen. I thanked the bank manager and she was very appreciative. She is very personable as well. Thank you Citibank for looking out for your customers. :)

Do NOT do business with Citi bank
Do NOT do business with Citi bank. They ARE the most ridiculous group. I received an offer to open a checking account with them & if you follow certain guidelines, you would receive a bonus. If you deposited $30,000 within a certain time frame of opening the account, kept the amount in there for 60 days, you would receive a $500 bonus. I did everything correctly to a t. I even wrote down all the pertinent dates associated with receiving the bonus. I never received the bonus. Come to find out that when I put in my social I accidentally hit a 7 rather than an 8 & this kept my account from being certified. By the acct not being certified, I could not receive a bonus. So, ok, let's correct my social with citi. I live in MS & there are NO citi branches in MS. First you have to always speak with a foreigner who is not a native English speaker. Then you have several different answers on what to do to correct the social security number, of which, I did them all. The last thing I was told to do was send in another w9 form, a copy of my social security card, & a cover letter stating I was trying to correct an error when I inputed my social & trying to certify the checking account. That last rep I spoke with told me she would escalate this up & would call me back, which she just did. They rejected it & said no I had to go into a branch to correct. The w9 with the cover letter & the copy of my social security card couldn't be used. I'm like HOW RIDICULOUSLY STUPID. They want me to drive to another state to find a citi branch to correct a typing error for my social; but when you open an account online, you can type in anything & its accepted. You would think in this modern time that a detailed cover letter explaining the situation along with the w9 & a copy of the social security card would be sufficient to correct an accidentally hit number, but to them it wasn't. Just a bunch of unbelievable run around & wasted time. Truly hard to understand. Zero care for customers at all. If I had a citi branch nearby, I would have been happy to go into it & get it corrected; but in areas where there is NO branch, there should be a viable & reasonable accommodation. I just pulled my money out & said to close the account & keep their bonus. Sad & ridiculous! A. Fielder

Welcome to America
Welcome to the NEW America. Regrettably, all banks' customer services have been offshored to third-world countries in an effort to reduce costs for CEOs and executives. The experience has been nothing short of dreadful, and as time goes by, it only seems to deteriorate further. The dignity and values of Americans are under threat, and there's a sense that they are gradually fading away. We can only hope for divine assistance during these challenging times. I strongly urge you to consider calling their customer service before opening an account, ensuring you receive the expected level of service if you ever need to reach them. Best of luck, but be prepared, as a simple request for a PIN for a new ATM card may lead to wasting 18 hours and 34 minutes speaking to 7 different people across 4 different departments, including a visit to a local branch. Sadly, the issue caused by Citi Elite has not been resolved.

They stole my $$
They stole my $$. By adding in small print that you have to make a deposit every month or get charged maintenance fees. Just so you know I didn’t sign up with Citi I have already had a bad experience with them, my account was taken over from a different company. I just let my money sit in savings account thinking maybe my previous experience was a fluke. But then I saw they were charging me $5 a month, for a saving account so I thought I better cancel my account while I still have $100 in it. They sent me a check for $24.00. So they stole my savings in maintenance fees for a savings account that i didn’t open with them and said God Bless you and hung up on me while I was still processing that my savings was gone. Don’t they want customers? All my experiences with them have been beyond horrible and then they say God Bless! And Click. No is there anything else I can help you with? It was God bless and dial tone…..

I have contacted the customer service team bi-monthly and begged for help to at least lower the APR to help get this paid. I haven't used it in several years. Every other creditor has worked with me. They have offered NO help. The only thing they can do is cancel my account and put me on a hardship program which they said would hurt my credit. I asked if they could temporarily suspend privileges and my interest so I can get it paid off. I have gotten it down to $2K and they still refuse to help me. I am so disgusted. All the years I have been diligent and especially these last 2 years. I was told my interest rate is much lower than others...seriously. Horrible to work with. Customer service is hard to understand and no empathy whatsoever. I have worked so hard to have a good credit score and treatment of a long-term client with an excellent history is disgusting.

Unethical / Scam / Horrendous Experience
My wife and I opened a savings and checking account. The next day CitiBank closed all accounts and are holding our funds for at least 30-60 days. What a nice scam! All’s we did was transfer funds from another account. We have talked to numerous departments and went down to the local branch. They simply quote their policies. I ask what policy we broke they can’t provide that information. Although by law they must provide that information. We asked for documentation on their policies that we broke. Again they wouldn’t provide that information which is also required by law. I hope the government will start an investigation on what is clearly fraudulent. In the meantime until the CitiBank returns our funds we cannot provide even basic needs for our children. Just a reprehensible organization and I hope this review will keep others from experiencing the same situation.

I cannot wait until the day that they…
I cannot wait until the day that they announce that Citibank will be closing all of their locations. This bank is a horrible bank. I don’t know how they even stay afloat. I don’t know how they stay in business, so this is the first time I am making this review, I only been with them for about two weeks now and I’m already in the process of closing this account two weeks. I opened this account because there was other. There was a few other banks that I wanted to open an account with but unfortunately I couldn’t Citibank was the only bank they gave me an opportunity , when I started with them, the very very beginning another one, saying that I didn’t like that, threw me off with them was when I received a pin code in the mail, telling me that that would be my password for when I wanted to withdraw money from the ATM I thought that was a little odd, because no other banks customers, no other banks, why would a company a bank create their own pin code for you to use it now we all know that we don’t have to use that code or we could change it in and use a number of a choice, but why would they even create a pin code for you , when they supposed to send you the card and tell you to create your own pin, they sent me the card but before that they sent me the pin code and I had lost it well I didn’t lose it. I threw it away by accident and I called them to let them know what happened and they had me answers of security questions which I didn’t have a problem with that but the question that they asked me was what is your mothers maiden name? I never provided my mothers maiden name do you never ask me that question so I don’t know why they would even be asking me something like that , they asked me for my phone number that was associated with the account I gave them That is the only number they said they couldn’t find the phone number. The phone number is not on file when I was the only phone number that I’ve ever use when you speak to these people you never ever speak to anybody that’s in United States you always speak to people that’s in at least four countries that you could barely understand. This bank sucks they’re rip offs they don’t care about your customers and I cannot wait to close this account. Beware please do not open an account with them you will regret it I guarantee it

Been with Citibank for about 35 years
Been with Citibank for about 35 years. People call it shitti-bank but I don’t think so. They give great money market rates. The app is great. CD rates are pretty good. Credit cards are great-Costco and double cash. My mortgage is with them. Better than Chase. Better than BofA. Much better than WF. When I travel internationally I get amazing exchange rates from the ATM. Almost the spot rate. The service is very good. If I see a few that I think should be credited back they do it no questions asked. Their brokerage app stinks though especially on the web. I lost money cuz it was very buggy. The buy turned into a sell when I clicked it and I didn’t notice. So instead of buying more I sold at the low. The investing side is the worst I’ve ever seen. But I do most of my investing with Chase, TD, Merrill and Fidelity.

I would give a zero if possible. I had a secured credit card that I closed in 2021. I never got my deposit back. I called and requested it then hung up on. I called back and asked for an address to send a written request and was argued with. I said I wanted an address, not an argument…. Hung up on again. What a joke this bank is.

If I could leave no star I would
If I could leave no star I would. I have had the Sears version for years, but it has become an absolute sham. I paid a balance in full a year and a half ago, in January 2022, closed that account because of card was compromised. That paid balance was transferred to the new account, and has still not been credited back to my account. I guess they kept the money for themselves, or pocketed it. Also, when you make a more than minimum payment, the balance doesn't change. It's a sham and everyone should avoid them.

My card got marked as 'fraud' while making a payment. After speaking to 3 representatives and finally laddered up to a 'specialist' they could not confirm my identity as their only solution was to 'mail me a code' and then call them. I had this same issue with Capital One and they rectified it in minutes by having me provide the last four of my SSN, a photo of my ID, and basic account information.

Preferred account getting closed, no one knows why.
Account getting closed I received a letter that my citi priority account of 5 years will be closed. When I called in I was told "it's because of high number of cash transactions." I then told them that I had NO cash transactions in the last 3 months, and only a few in the year before so the reason I was given is nothing but idiotic. This is a preferred member account with a min balance of 30k and the fools can't actually identify why the account is closed and can't transfer me to anyone who can explain or investigate it either. Completely pathetic from Citibank. account number 149571334 Eugene Leader name under the account.

Customer service no Longer means Customer Service
I’m sure Management either doesn’t have the time or I’m sure Won’t take any action. If they did, they wouldn’t have a low rating like this. So I guess Complaining is more cathartic. I accidentally made, 2 deposit Totaling $25,000 Only one (12500) was good and they said second ones would not go through. I was under the impression that they would not. I even contacted The supervisor on IG. Guess what, that’s right they did. She told me I had to contact account svcs at Wells Fargo. So now the customer has to correct the problem. Their lack of follow through overdrew my acc by $12,500 (keep in mind I have auto pay so guess what is happening?) I called 4 Times to Customer Service. The first time my concerns difficult for them to understand and then they said OK, sir and I hung up just like that. In fact, I was talking. The second, then third time the phone may weird sound, and then went to A continual ring but nothing happened. The fourth time I called it was picked up. Yay they transfer me to the supervisor. I explained The situation to the supervisor, “Well sir you did hit deposit button twice” actually that I was to blame. Now, I know that it may be my fault initially however, I don’t need to be told this! Then she said I (the CUSTOMER) Need to call my bank & have this addressed. Correct me If I am wrong but I thought they were “Customer Services”. My GREAT banking customer service did make this go away. I’m still waiting for Citibank To address the situation on their end. I think I’m gonna move Banks and I just opened it up!

Translate to Chinese below
Translate to Chinese below: "Do not open an account with Citi Bank anywhere. I had the worst experience with them. Last year, I opened a CD account for 11 months with a 1.75% interest rate. Before the end of the 11-month period, I contacted my wealth managers, Justin Morin and Larry Standridge, to explore better investment options. They advised me to open a brokerage account with an interest rate of 5.1% for 11 months. I followed their suggestion, but I faced delays and back-and-forth communication for over a month without any progress. Today, when I called Larry, I found out he was on vacation. A few hours later, Justin called me back. I asked him why it took a month to open the account and transfer the money from the CD to the brokerage account. I felt like they intentionally kept my money at a low interest rate, and I expressed my desire to withdraw my funds from Citi Bank. Two hours later, Justin called again to inform me that my CD had automatically renewed for another 11 months on May 1st. If I withdraw the money now, I would have to pay a penalty of $3900. He abruptly ended the call. Frustrated, I contacted the customer complaint service, who spoke with Justin and the branch manager. They claimed that I never asked them to close the CD account, and I would have to pay the penalty. However, no one ever informed me that I needed to close the CD account. They assured me they would take care of it and even opened the brokerage account to transfer the funds. Due to their poor management and dishonesty, nothing was accomplished over the course of a month. Now I am facing a $3900 penalty. I have never encountered such an experience with any other bank." Pure Incompetence
If I could put a zero for a score I would. Over an hour of holding and arguing with CS and then his supervisor, I still could not get them to correct my citizenship on my profile from US to Canadian. Apparently no one in Citi CS knows the difference between a "citizen" and a "resident" or the tax classifications for US persons! Now waiting for a "manager" to call back. Probably will never happen. So frustrating.

First, when I tried to add my new credit card to my phone wallet in February 2023, city customer service blocked my credit card even after I answered all the security questions. It caused me a lot of stress not being able to use my card for a week after all I wanted was to add the new card to my iPhone wallet. The second event happened tonight 05/31/2023, I tried to make an online payment to pay for my brother's studies at the University of Chile using a secure link and received a text to call City to verify the activity. I called the phone number 8444525126 and the person who replied only asked for my phone number and then informed my card is blocked till I receive the mail verification from City. For the second time in less than four months not being able to use my card causes me a lot of problems and stress -more now than I am traveling and depend on my card to make all my daily payments.

CITI Drivers Edge CC rebates are difficult to redeem
I have a CITI Drivers Edge CC where you get rebates back when you buy a car. There is no online way to submit, needs to be a mailed letter or faxed. Instructions are terrible. If you do anything wrong they do not let you know what is wrong but will hold to their 90 days to submit. I did not receive my rebate so I called and come to find out a signature was missing on the purchase agreement because it was signed electronically. I asked about the 90 day limit and she tells it will not be a problem because it's on file I originally requested it with 90 days. I went to the dealer, got the signatures and refaxed then get a letter saying it's rejected because it's passed the 90 days. I called and they tell it past the 90 days so I cannot get my rebate. I am cutting up my cards and moving on to someone that is easier to deal with. We will tell everyone we know to cut ties with the terrible company!

Vindictive customer service
Citi Bank constantly Sends me credit card transfers promotions. I finally took them up on one and called them up, went through all the bells and whistles and jumped through all the hoops . They even sent my phone a security code which I had to read back to them. The man said on the other end, said that the transfer would take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. A week goes by, this woman calls me up acting like there were some kind of fraud. Starts asking me all the same questions. She would not tell me what it was about. When we get to the end of all these questions, I asked Her again what it was all about and she said it was this bank transfer. I Told her I went through all this last week with somebody . I said, are you serious? You actually do this to your customers after you already asked me a whole bunch of security questions and I proved who I was when I did the balance transfer? I told her you people should be ashamed of yourself it's nothing more than harassment to your customers and I Hung up. I later find out that this was declined only because of getting late payment notice from my other credit card company. I called to complain, but no one cared. how evil. Citibank did not send me a fraud alert they did not send me a decline. They didn't send me anything. This was just some nasty little b**** being vindictive. I will be cutting this credit card in half.

APR | Customer ‘value'.
This is my first review of it’s kind. Long tenured Citibank credit card customer. Excellent credit history with Citi. So naturally, the first words I hear whenever I reach out to Citi CS rep is: ”Thank you for being a valued (i.e.loyal) customer since”…In fact, I’m so ‘valued' as a long time customer that my current APR is…23.99%. That’s right. So much for the 'valued customer bit. As of yesterday, Citibank was paid off/my business was moved to a competitor’s card product with a favorable rate, plus, As a founder of my company, we'll never do business with Citibank. After 30 yrs. as a Citi customer, the reality is they ‘value' nothing except their bottom line. Even sold all Citibank stock recently bc of their lack of customer satisfaction focus. Avoid them at all costs.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Citibank Credit Card: Verification and Activation Woes
I recently had an experience with Citibank's customer service while trying to resolve a denial problem with my new credit card. Unfortunately, the level of service I received fell far below my expectations, leaving me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. One of the major issues I encountered was the lack of effective assistance from the customer service representatives. It became apparent that they were located in another country and seemed unfamiliar with the necessary protocols to address and resolve the issues at hand. This made the process of resolving my problem unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. The verification process proved to be particularly problematic. Despite providing the requested information, I was unable to complete the verification through the text message system. Specifically, I had issues with verification via my AT&T phone number, which prevented me from accessing the benefits and functionalities of my credit card in a timely manner. This not only caused inconvenience but also hindered my ability to make timely payments. The most significant inconvenience in this entire ordeal was the delay in card activation. I was informed that I would have to wait for a physical letter to arrive, which would take approximately two weeks, before I could start using the card. This unnecessary delay further added to the frustration and hindered my ability to pay invoices promptly. In light of my experiences, I believe it is important to approach Citibank credit card applications with caution. While I cannot speak to the experiences of every customer, my encounter with their customer service was far from satisfactory. The lack of efficient problem-solving, challenges with the verification process (specifically with AT&T), and the extensive delays in card activation underscore the need for improvement in their customer service operations. Considering the issues I faced, I would recommend exploring alternative options before applying for a Citibank credit card. It is crucial to choose a financial institution that prioritizes responsive and reliable customer service to ensure a smoother and more satisfactory experience.

Horrible experience. Avoid.
Had the Citibank costco credit card and will never do business with citibank again because of it. Poor customer service and seemingly zero control over my account. I called in 8 separate times due to digital cards being created on my account. Even after I FROZE, LOCKED my account, I was still getting charged by various entities. No accountability of support staff. I was flat out lied to at least once. My policy is to not let a bunch of clowns handle my finances, so I closed my account entirely. Horrible experience. Horrible company. Big waste of time. Avoid at all costs.

I was tricked by Citi to open a saving account for $150 promotional bonus using the link sent by Citi. After enrollment, I also check with Citi agent who confirmed that my enrollment was successful. After I completed all the requirements 3 months later, then Citi told me that I am not eligibile because the saving account is under "so called basic package" (I use the link Citi sent to me to open the account. Well they said there are fine prints you missed. Classic trick they played). I would never ever trust Citi. I just could not believe a big bank like Citi fooled the customers for just $150.

I wish I could give Citibank 0 stars. I have been a customer of Citibank for more than 15 years, and I am finally leaving this bank. They provide the worst customer service ever. I understand now that people from outside the US work in customer service, but the problem is that they really don't understand the context and are not even trained properly. They respond to you like an AI and just read out what is in the manual. Every time I call customer service for one issue, no two representatives give me the same answer. All they provided was incorrect information and false hope, and in the end, nothing was done. This jeopardized my mortgage application process. Don't ever do business with them.

Citi used to be my favorite credit card. Now they are charging insane lending rates, far more than any of my other cards, and have the WORST WORST WORST customer service. I paid off my balance completely and they will never see another penny from me.

No one there to help.
They let someone hack into my bank account. Getting them to work with me is impossible. They put a lot of blame on me, they take no responsibility. They say someone will call you back next week... No one has yet to call me back. They say they will leave a message for a manager they will call you in 2 business days- yeah I am still waiting.

Horrible banking. Never got promotion either
Horrible banking experience time and time again. One year ago I opened a checking and savings through a mail promotion to receive a $700 bonus if I maintained my funds there for 3 months. Called several times after that 3 month mark; reassured I would receive the bonus by a certain date. That date would come and go, I would call back, the date they told me would change. After continued long run arounds as to why not, they told me that that promotion was not meant for me, and that I should have kept the mailer in order to prove I had been sent it. There is no bank branch in my state (Utah). Website has worked horribly, so I have often had to call, every phone call has also been a disaster, taking 20-45 minutes plus. I'm trying to transfer my money out now which is taking over 1 month now because of transfer limits, and today yet again dealing with the fraud prevention team trying to put on hold my final wire transfer in order to BE DONE with this bank. I closed a US Bank account 10 years ago because a stranger's name was somehow added to my account. This last year of experience with Citi has been 20 times worse than that. Do not even consider ever banking with Citi. I've never had one native-English speaker either, and they follow a script that is so very not helpful.
