World First Fees and Rates

WorldFirst doesn’t charge for personal transfers, but you’ll have to send a minimum of £1,000. The company does charge fees for business transfers, but there isn’t a set amount. Rather, the fee is negotiated with the company. There is also no fee if you’re an online seller transferring funds back to a domestic account. 

Like with any money transfer service, you may still face some charges by the banks you are transferring the money from or to. Keep this in mind when calculating the cost of your transfer. 

The company promises to beat or match any exchange rate offered by your bank and will allow you to lock in a specific exchange rate for a future transfer as far as 3 years in advance. So if you find a fee today that works for your company, lock it in and you’ll be able to enjoy it down the road as well.

How Does It Work?

  • First go online or call to set up an account with WorldFirst
  • Business customers should contact the company to set up an account 
  • Tell WorldFirst your destination for the transfer and the currency needed, and they will send you a quote
  • Send your first transfer directly to the company by wire transfer
  • The company will make the payment to your beneficiary as soon as the same day, though allow for up to 4 days depending on the destination
  • The payment will appear in World First’s name, not yours
  • If the payment doesn’t arrive within 4 days, contact the company

How Long Does It Take?

The amount of time it takes for your transfer to arrive depends on a number of factors, including the currency you’re using, the receiving bank and the amount of money. If you’re transferring GBP to GBP or Euros to Euros the transfer should be carried out the same day, thought for other currencies it could take up to four days. If you're sending USD to any country other than the US, you should allow for up to 4 days.

    The best way to waste your time on the phone in order to get your money: very bad customer service, dishonnest, I am still expecting my payment, I called today and they mentionned for the first time they were needing an invoice to proceed. They said they emailed me but I never received the email and I check my spam folder every day. I should have received my money 2 weeks ago already.

    Incredibly slow process to get am account set up

    Incredibly slow process to get an account setup. Took 7 weeks. Just requested setup for another account 2 weeks ago and still not heard a word or received a reply. Really poor customer service. Once an account is up and running the actual transfer side of things is fine. In comparison my business bank account with Starling took literally 2 days from first contact to being active. No excuse for the huge delays.

    Never Again

    My first transfer with WorldFirst was a nightmare! I wanted to send money to an individual in the USA and was told by WorldFirst that the transfer had happened. Then different parts of WorldFirst started emailing me saying they needed more information about my recipient .. the requirements got more and more detailed (date of birth, place of birth, home address ++). Having sent all this it was up to me to press WorldFirst again to confirm the money had actually been sent. The process took longer than 3 weeks. Never Again!!

    They called up yesterday and the sales executive was advised I was not in. He was given my email address. 3 minutes later he called again thinking he would be put through to someone different. He emailed me and then following up by calling the following day. This is not acceptable in my books. Not happy about it and is shocking behaviour from a sales person.     After realising that most payment transfer companies rip people off by offering high exchange rates, I researched and came across world first. I have been using them for about 6/7 years now, I send lots of international payments usually several thousand each time. I like there competitive exchange rates and low sending charge. Compared to companies like paypal and transferwise, worldfirst service trumps both of these companies, world first offers the best deals around. I also was impressed when I called there customer service team I found them very professional which is rare to find these days

    not recommended if you do not use every month..

    Annoyed at the fact that my account was closed because of "inactivity" - my business runs in lump sums every few months, apparently because I wasn't using the account on a monthly basis they immediately closed my account without even discussing it with me. It really frustrated me as I have to get a new account elsewhere and forward the new details to all my clients, which took weeks. thanks for that.. would not recommend for businesses that have infrequent payments.     Uncertainty and price hikes

    If you want uncertainty and random price hikes you’ve come to the right place. WF will give you a price hike with no notice and there is nothing you can do about it. They also have false advertising of rates, on one page they show you a particular price and charge you another. Further the assosciates are trained to pressure you into accepting forward contracts with the premise of favourable rate. For example, just before the strengthening of the pound I was pitched to lock in a contract against the dollar and thankfully declined. The week later the pound sky rocked. Other than that great service but poor management.

    Everything about WorldFirst is 5* rates with 5* service and efficiency. Over the years I have used them for 3 different businesses as well as personal International transfers and always found their rates super competitive regardless of the country the payment needs to be made to. I find their website very intuitive too & I have always managed to set up beneficiaries and payments without error. On top of all this I have phoned their customer service line many times throughout the years and they have always been extremely helpful, very quick to assist & explained things very clearly. I recommend them to any businesses or family/friends who ask who I use for our international transfers and I don't think there will be a time I don't use them in the years to come.

    WorldFirst has been our business bank of choice for non-sterling transactions as major high-street UK banks still reside in the 19th century slapping their loitering hight-street customers with arbitrary fees and charges.     Hiked up charges recently

    I have been with World First for some years now and liked the service they provided and the price they charged for delivering it. However, having no doubt building up a decent customer base they have started "rinsing" those customers. My experience in the last 6 months has been to see the service fee on my US dollar transactions increase by 33% and the introduction of a service fee on dollar conversions to sterling when repatriating fund back to the UK when previously that service fee didn't exist. They are still doing the same for me as they always did, just charging more. On that basis I can't recommend.

    Paying International Suppliers ? Move to WorldFirst

    If you're paying international suppliers using your high street bank then you're costing yourself a fortune. WorldFirst constantly beat the banks on their charges and the funds arrive instantly in Europe, not 3 days like the banks. No reason not to use them, simple.

    Excellent company to do business with

    I've been using World First for my e-commerce business for several years. Platform is simple to use, fees are competitive, but most of all, their customer service is excellent - always responsive (whereas my experience with some other neo-banks and FX services is not so good). So I would continue to use World First even if there were slightly cheaper alternatives, just for the excellent service.

    I've been using Worldfirst for quite some time although I was given slightly better rates by xe I still used them as all my suppliers was setup and I didn't want to go through the hassle of changing them, but now Worldfirst are charging for each transaction it makes the gap much bigger and worth me going back to xe I've given 5 stars because I've never had any problems, and if I've had issues with payments they was always sorted out

    Excellent service and rates

    I did a lot of research before I chose WorldFirst. Their rates are fair and the service is excellent. I highly recommend them if you transfer regularly between currencies.

    Easy to set up and use

    Having used our bank account for currency exchange for some time we were hesitant to change to another service. Ian Coulson made the transition easy with clear communication on what was required.     Improved rates & reduced costs

    I have recently transferred my company's currency requirements to Worldfirst and we have now completed our first currency purchases and overseas payments. All have gone smoothly and the funds arrived in our suppliers account the next day, ahead of expectations! All our questions were quickly answered by Ian Coulson and William Jones and the account setup was straightforward, with Ian keeping me informed of progress. My aim of improved currency rates has been achieved with the plus of improved service and reduced costs. An excellent outcome.

    I have had an account for some years but have closed it after reports of them closing clients accounts without warning. In some cases they will refer you to XE.com, but their service and response times are WORSE!

    Ik werk sinds een paar jaar met Worldfirst. Als onervaren leek was het best wel spannend in het begin, hoe gaat het, is het wel betrouwbaar, hoe gaan de transacties etc. Vooral dankzij de hulp van Aaron verloopt alles altijd soepel, heb ik toch vragen of een "probleem", dan wordt het vlot en moeiteloos opgelost. Ik ben dan ook nog steeds een trouwe klant en kan het iedereen aanbevelen!

    waste of time

    After making an account they requested to call them back and asked for a lot of information. After sending them all information, such as my passport, business registration, information, documents all they bothered was to send me. "Following a review of your account with WorldFirst, I regret to inform you that a business decision has been made to close your account. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any further information regarding this action at this present time." this is just waste of time. better do not even bother with them and use another alternative. there are enough on the market.
