The best thing about Plymouth Rock is its commitment to the northeast, extending from its deep knowledge of car insurance in each state to the perks for supporters of local sports team. Supporters of the New England Patriots in the NFL, New York Yankees in Major League Baseball, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils in the NHL, and Penn State in college sports are in luck. Plymouth Rock has partnerships with each of these franchises, offering customers perks such as discounted tickets to home games, discounts on team apparel, tours of their home stadiums or arenas, and more.
For all Plymouth Rock’s specialty here, the obvious downside is that it doesn’t offer auto coverage in 44 states. Although it serves most of the northeast, it doesn’t operate in Vermont, Maine, or Rhode Island, so motorists in those states will need to look elsewhere for their car insurance needs. But its weakness is also its strength, and by catering to just six states it’s able to specialize in ways that national vehicle insurers can’t.
State regulations vary widely in the northeast. New Jersey drivers are subject to some of the strictest laws and are required to have liability, uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage, and personal injury protection. At the other end of the scale, New Hampshire is the only state where drivers aren’t legally required to purchase any form of car insurance. Whatever your needs, Plymouth Rock offers the following forms of coverage to customers in the northeast.
Liability. Comprising bodily injury and property damage liability, this covers your liabilities when you’re at fault in an accident.
Collision. Covers your vehicle if it’s damaged in a collision with another vehicle or object.
Comprehensive. Covers your vehicle if it’s damaged in a non-collision incident such as a fire, flood, vandalism, or theft.
Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist. Covers liabilities when an uninsured or underinsured motorist is at fault.
Medical Payments. Covers hospital and rehabilitation when you or your passengers are injured in an accident, regardless of who’s at fault. This is referred to as Personal Injury Protection or PIP in certain states, including New Jersey.
Plymouth Rock offers a handful of optional add-ons, including:
Towing and Labor. Covers the cost of towing your car to a repair shop up to the limits you select when you purchase the coverage.
Door to Door Valet Claim Service. Included with comprehensive or collision coverage, Plymouth Rock will pick up your vehicle and transport it to the shop of your choice and bring it back when it’s ready. They’ll also coordinate a rental car for customers with rental coverage.
Rental Coverage. Provides you with a rental car when your usual ride is in the shop as a result of an accident.
Discounts and Savings. There are at least a dozen ways for customers to earn discounts on their premium, including: advance shopper; installing an anti-theft device; being a student; bundling insurance policies; taking driver training; uploading e-documents; being a good driving student; being a new driver; paying up-front in full; taking a safety pledge; and joining a Plymouth Rock-approved motor club or affinity group.
Membership Discounts. Discounts also apply for AARP members in Massachusetts and for NJ residents who work or are retired from an accredited school or diocese.
Customers in all six states can get a quote and purchase a policy directly through Plymouth Rock in their state, either through Plymouth Rock’s website, by calling 855-993-4470, or by finding an agent in their area. Customers in New Jersey can also purchase coverage through a Prudential financial professional in the state. As with other car insurance providers, you’ll need to provide personal info, details of your vehicles and driving history, and any information that might qualify you for driver rewards or discounts.
Customers can file claims online or by phone, and enjoy valet service with the Crashbusters Mobile Claim Service.
For claims by phone, Plymouth Rock has a separate phone line for each state.
Plymouth Rock’s app for iOS and Android lets you look up billing information or report a claim, schedule an inspection, and submit pictures of damages. Customers can use the app to access claim information, view copies of appraisals, and find a local repair shop.
Crashbusters is available to most policy holders, and helps reduce the stress of claims by having one of Plymouth Rock’s mobile representatives arrange to meet you at a place that’s convenient for you. In some cases, they’ll even issue a check on the spot or, at the very least, arrange to get your repairs started immediately.
Plymouth Rock has dedicated customer service teams in each state that can help you once you’ve purchased a policy.

Plymouth Rock isn’t a national car insurer, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in expertise with a deep knowledge of the U.S. northeast – and plenty of perks to entice customers. It offers competitive rates for motorists throughout the northeast, with dedicated claims and customer service teams in each of the six states in which it operates. Its mobile claims service shows its focus on serving customers even after they’ve paid their annual premium.
