Nationwide Car Insurance offers the following types of insurance.
Bodily injury liability
Required in most states, this type of coverage will help pay towards medical bills and loss of income if you cause an accident and another person is injured.
Property damage liability
If you’re at fault in an accident, this coverage, which is a legal requirement in most states, will help towards repairing damage to other people’s vehicles or property, up to your coverage limit. It should also cover your legal defense if a lawsuit is filed against you.
Personal injury protection
Compulsory in certain states, this type of coverage, also known as PIP, can help defray expenses such as medical bills and lost wages. Unlike certain types of insurance, this coverage operates on a no-fault basis, which means it will kick in regardless of who caused the accident.
Uninsured motorist
If you’re in an accident caused by another driver who doesn’t have insurance, this type of protection covers your medical bills and loss of income.
Underinsured motorist
This will protect you if you’re involved in an accident with a motorist who doesn’t have adequate insurance. It includes 2 parts: paying for damage to your and other people’s vehicles, as well as covering lost wages and medical bills.
Medical payments
Often referred to as med pay, this type of coverage helps pay medical costs for you and your passengers. It may also fill the gap if certain costs, such as specialized nursing and dental care, are not covered by your health insurance provider.
Collision
If you’re hit by another vehicle or object, or you hit another object, this type of protection will pay for damage to your vehicle. Crucially, this type of coverage will protect you regardless of who is responsible for the accident.
Comprehensive
Also known as other-than-collision, this coverage will pay for damage to your vehicle as a result of vandalism, theft, and claims involving weather or animals. Towing and labor coverage If you’re in an accident and your car is stuck, broken down, or left inoperable, this protection will cover the expenses you incur as a result.
Rental car expense
This type of coverage provides access to other forms of transport, such as rental cars, if your vehicle is in the repair shop.
Gap coverage
If you’re in an accident and your car is written off, this type of protection may cover the gap between the cash value of your vehicle and the amount you owe on any financing. This means you won’t be left out of pocket.
You can also add the following to your policy.
Accident forgiveness
If you’re involved in your first at-fault accident or receive a minor violation, having this coverage means the incident will not affect the cost of your future premiums.
Roadside assistance
This type of coverage will provide you with 24/7 support if you need fuel, a tire change, tow, or jump start.
Vanishing deductible
You’ll receive a $100 discount on the amount of your deductible for every year you maintain a clean driving record. In theory, your deductible could disappear entirely if you maintain a clean driving record for long enough.
Total loss deductible waiver
If your vehicle is written off, Nationwide will waive the damage deductible on your comprehensive or collision plan.
