Pros and Cons

Pro: InsureSquare is what’s known in the insurance industry as a marketplace or matching service. It exists solely to help you compare custom insurance options for your needs. It takes only 3-5 minutes to fill out the short application form on InsureSquare’s website. Once you’re done filling out the form, Insure Square will instantly show your best offers.

Con: Like other marketplaces, it’s worth pointing out that InsureSquare is not an insurance carrier and nor is it a broker. It exists solely to make your life easier by helping you compare custom vehicle coverage options. Using InsureSquare is only the first step in the vehicle coverage application process. If you accept one of its offers, you’ll still need to go through the process of communicating directly with your chosen insurance carrier and agent.

Types of Auto Insurance

Because it works with multiple insurance carriers, InsureSquare can hook you up with all the standard types of vehicle insurance you need to get properly coverage. Here’s a breakdown of the different types of auto insurance you can find using InsureSquare.

Bodily Injury Liability. Covers you for all costs related to bodily injuries suffered by other drivers when you are at fault.

Property Damage Liability. Covers you for all costs related to damage of another person’s property when you are at fault.

Collision. Covers you for all costs related to vehicle repair and replacement if your vehicle is damaged in a collision, regardless of who was at fault.

Comprehensive. Covers all repairs and replacement costs if your vehicle suffers damage in a non-collision incident such as fire, flood, vandalism, theft, or hitting an animal.

Personal Injury Protection. Covers medical and rehabilitation expenses for you and your passengers, and some insurers also cover lost wages.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist. Covers the other driver’s liabilities if they are uninsured or underinsured.

Additional Features

InsureSquare doesn’t specify which add-ons it offers. With that said, it works with a wide enough range of insurance providers for us to be able to safely assume that it can facilitate the following add-ons.

Gap coverage. In a total loss, this covers the gap between the depreciated value and what you still owe on your vehicle.

Rental reimbursement. Covers the cost of getting a temporary replacement in the event your car is in the shop due to a covered accident.

Roadside assistance. No one wants to be stuck roadside, but this allows you to relax in the knowledge that emergency assistance is on the way.

Rideshare coverage. Provides coverage for people who use their vehicle for work with ridesharing platforms like Uber.

Equipment coverage. Covers loss or damage to equipment you installed in your vehicle, as opposed to equipment installed by the vehicle manufacturer.

How to Apply

As an online insurance marketplace, InsureSquare collects your information, feeds it into its system, and then recommends insurance policies tailor-made to your needs and driving history. In order to see your best insurance deals, you must be prepared to spend a few minutes filling out a short online application form. Results get shown within a few seconds of you completing the form.

The questions are fairly standard for a car insurance quote request form. Sections include:

Personal details: includes name, email address, phone number, and home address.

Vehicle details: includes year, make, model, and body style, as well as details about mileage, when you purchased the vehicle, and whether you were the original owner.

Additional personal details: includes information about your employment and house.

Driving history: includes questions about your current insurer (if you have one).

Details about things that could qualify you for a discount, e.g. military service, age, vehicle security features.

Filing a Claim

As a marketplace, InsureSquare exists to connect you with top insurance carriers. Once you get connected with a carrier, that’s where your relationship with InsureSquare ends. Of course, you can go back to InsureSquare each year when your insurance is up for renewal. However, it won’t offer you any assistance with claims.

Contact Details

One thing we like about InsureSquare is that although it is only a matching service, it also offers phone support. Not everyone likes applying for things over the internet. If you prefer getting personalized assistance from a customer support rep, then call (855) 666-1271 to have an InsureSquare agent assist with matching you with vehicle coverage.

Summary

With InsureSquare, you get exactly what it says on the label. On its home page, InsureSquare states that is a matching service that matches consumers with companies that offer car insurance. This is exactly what it does: it asks you for basic information about yourself, then uses that info to find you cheap vehicle coverage. If you’re looking to compare policy options, then InsureSquare is a decent place to start.
