Our AmONE's strongest categories are reputation, accessibility, and customer service, thanks to a long track record, 50-state coverage, and U.S.-based call support. However, the cost and user experience categories brought the score down. Our AmONE loans review below breaks down in more detail where it does well and where it falls short.
AmONE is a loan marketplace, not a direct lender. Founded in 1999, the company is owned by digital media giant QuinStreet, which is publicly traded on the NYSE. AmONE primarily does business online but has offices all over the U.S., splitting its headquarters between San Mateo, California, and Plantation, Florida. AmONE reports having funded over 100,000 loans last year and managed over $1.5 billion of debt in 2024. Overall, it has helped over 50 million customers since 1999.
We reviewed customer feedback across AmONE personal loans reviews and found that the company has an above-average reputation among loan marketplaces. Its Trustpilot score of 4.1 out of 5, from over 3,180 reviews, beats the industry average of 3.5.
AmONE also has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), though it is not BBB-accredited. Its BBB customer review score is 2.62 out of 5, based on a relatively small sample of 47 reviews, which just edges the industry average of 2.19.
Additionally, we noted 30 BBB complaints filed in the last three years. Most complaints cited unsolicited calls and being routed to debt-relief or credit-repair partners after completing the application process.
AmONE operates in all 50 states and doesn’t impose its own minimum credit score. However, it states that in most cases, debt consolidation requires a score of at least 650 to qualify for the best rates that will actually save you money. It only does a soft credit pull during the prequalification process. That makes it useful for borrowers who are still in the research phase of their debt management journey.
Expert take: “Marketplaces such as LendingTree, Credible, and AmOne allow borrowers to review multiple loan offers from different lenders in one place. This approach is particularly beneficial for individuals with mid-to-low credit scores or those who are unsure which lender best fits their needs, as it increases transparency and the likelihood of finding a suitable option." — Nina Abazyan, banking professional and personal lending specialist
Partner lenders set their own requirements, such as income, debt-to-income ratio, and credit scores. AmONE may match you with potential lending partners, but some lenders may still decline your application based on their specific eligibility requirements. We found some BBB reviews from AmONE users who said they were preapproved during the marketplace prequalification flow, only to later be denied by the lender partner.
Loan amounts on AmONE start as low as $2,000 and go up to $100,000. Terms can run from 12 to 84 months, depending on the partner. This is a wider range compared to many direct lending companies.
In addition to debt consolidation loans, AmONE covers unsecured personal loans, secured loans, small business loans, and other types of loans. The secured option may benefit borrowers seeking a more affordable loan or enable them to access certain discounts that unsecured loans do not offer.
To illustrate how loan terms affect total cost and monthly payments, here’s a $15,000 debt consolidation loan at a mid-range 14% APR through one of AmONE’s partners:
Term | Monthly Payment | Total Cost | |
Loan A | 36 months | ~$513 | ~$18,455 |
Loan B | 60 months | ~$349 | ~$20,940 |
*This information is all approximate. We used an online loan calculator to generate these results.
The longer-term loan offers a lower monthly payment, but at the cost of about $2,500 in total interest. AmONE makes it easy for borrowers to compare offers and terms from multiple partners at once.
Origination fees: Usually 0% to 10%, varies by partner
Prepayment penalty: Partner-dependent, but most do not charge one
Late fees: Varies by partner, typically $15 to $39
Other notable charges? Possible non-sufficient funds (NSF) or returned payment fees from partners; AmONE does not charge anything for matching
AmONE does not set any rates; only its partners do. Its network APR ceiling is 35.99%, consistent with the upper end of industry standards.
AmONE does not offer autopay reductions or direct-to-creditor discounts — a common industry practice for marketplaces. Instead, discounts completely depend on the partner lenders you match with. For subprime borrowers, however, the network access may be more appealing than the lack of discounts. A 20% APR offer through AmONE is still cheaper than most credit card APRs or other subprime lenders.
Finding basic product information on AmONE’s website was simple. The homepage clearly explains that it’s a matching service, not a direct lender, and the site lists the services it offers and how the process works. We couldn’t find specific details on costs, rates, and fees, but we were able to easily find a list of partner lenders AmONE works with.
AmONE’s prequalification flow is fast, and AmONE does not request a Social Security number at this stage — a privacy advantage over some competitors we’ve tested.
The online form is straightforward, and we moved through it in about five minutes from the start to our first match. First, you select the purpose of the loan, enter the amount you need, and provide some basic information, including your credit score, income, and employment status. After that, we were shown our matched offers.
This is where some customers’ experiences diverge. An AmONE specialist called us within an hour or two after our submission — the usual case when qualified borrowers fill out the form. But we’ve read reviews from people who did not qualify and were routed to debt-relief companies or credit-repair partners instead of being notified that their applications were rejected.
AmONE’s application process is entirely digital, but it doesn’t have a mobile app on any device, lagging behind competitors with dedicated apps. Funding speed depends on partners. AmONE partners like Achieve, LendingClub, and UpStart can fund within 24 hours, while other partners may take two to five business days.
Expert take: "AmOne, while more limited in terms of tools and interface flexibility, offers a more guided experience by connecting borrowers with suitable lenders based on their financial situation. This can be beneficial for individuals who require additional support when navigating their options." — Nina Abazyan, banking professional and personal lending specialist.
AmONE offers only two support channels: phone (888-401-0330) and a web form. There’s no live chat, AI chat, SMS support, or customer-facing email address that we could find, making its customer support provision more limited than many competing loan marketplaces. It does have a client portal, but its features are limited.
We also couldn’t find any phone hours on the contact page, but AmONE’s BBB profile reports it being open from 8:30 a.m to 8:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m ET on Saturday. These hours are standard for the industry and not overly competitive — some companies offer phone lines later on Saturday and Sunday or even 24/7 support.
However, these limitations were outweighed by our experiences when testing the phone service. We called at around noon Eastern time on a Wednesday and reached a live agent in under a minute. One advantage of the experience was the lack of friction: there was no hold time or complicated phone menu. After a brief disclaimer, we were connected directly to a representative.
The rep was U.S.-based, friendly, and immediately answered our inquiries about the process. After asking a few prequalifying questions, they routed us to the right specialist. However, they couldn’t answer any questions about specific costs, fees, or discounts.
We submitted the web form, but after 24 hours, we had only received an automated response and no personalized email response.
The recurring positive theme across Trustpilot, BBB, and Google reviews was the “human element” that the debt specialists showed during consultations and follow-ups. Customers praised AmONE’s reps as being friendly, compassionate, and patient.
One customer on Google said, “I am very pleased with the recommendations and referrals. The representative was very patient, knowledgeable, and helpful.”
Common negatives cited include the high volume of post-application marketing contact and the sudden transfer to a different provider if customers didn’t qualify. One Trustpilot reviewer expressed frustration with the process: “Very bad experience. I wish they would have told me that I couldn’t get a loan instead of transferring me to a debt management company. You should at least tell the consumer what is going on.”
AmOne actively responds to positive and negative feedback across all three review sites. We found that the responses are typically custom and address specifics rather than relying on an automated copy-and-paste script.
BestMoney evaluates debt consolidation loan companies using 35 criteria grouped into five categories:
Reputation: Years in business; BBB, Trustpilot, and other review scores
Accessibility and Flexibility: State availability, loan types and amounts, minimum credit scores, and other eligibility requirements
Cost: APRs, fees, and available discounts
User Experience: Online application process, mobile app, prequalification flow, and funding speed
Customer Service and Support: Hands-on testing of all channels, availability, customer and expert testimonials, and other services and support
AmONE is a strong fit for anyone with a fair-to-good credit score who wants a human-guided comparison experience. It also suits customers applying for their first personal loan or making their first attempt at debt consolidation.
It's a weaker choice if your credit is excellent — you may find better rates working with a direct lender. And if you’re concerned about marketing spam and data privacy, you may want to look elsewhere.
If you decide to apply to AmONE, we recommend proceeding with confirmed partner lenders. Make sure to read the fine print before committing. AmONE’s matching service is just the start of the process, so don’t feel pressured into signing any loan offering. We also recommend using a secondary email and phone number to avoid the large volume of contact after submitting information.
