  • Bodily injury liability: Legally required in most states, this coverage pays for injuries to others if the policyholder is at fault in an accident.
  • Property damage liability: Covers damages to other people's property caused by the policyholder in an accident.
  • Collision coverage: Pays for damages to the policyholder’s car if it is involved in an accident, regardless of fault.
  • Comprehensive coverage: Covers non-collision-related incidents such as theft, vandalism, or natural disasters.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage: Protects the policyholder if they are involved in an accident with a driver who lacks sufficient insurance.
  • Personal injury protection (PIP): Covers medical expenses and lost wages for the policyholder and their passengers, regardless of fault.
  • Military-Specific coverage: USAA offers features like flexible payments during deployments and discounts for garaging vehicles on base.

Additional Features

USAA provides several add-ons that enhance its standard coverage:

  • Rental reimbursement: Covers the cost of renting a car while the policyholder's car is being repaired after a covered loss.
  • Roadside assistance: 24/7 assistance for breakdowns, flat tires, and towing.
  • Accident forgiveness: One accident can be forgiven without affecting the policyholder’s premium.
  • Discounts for safe driving: USAA offers several discounts, including savings for drivers who maintain a safe driving record and multi-policy discounts.

How to Apply

The application process for USAA car insurance is straightforward, primarily online or through their mobile app. Here’s how it works:

My first credit card is with USAA when I was 18. I 've been with them over 40 years. I am surprised by the low score they garner. I will say you don't stay with someone 40 years if they are not performing. I only wish my marriage lasted as long.
