Allied Coverage Summary
Allied Auto Insurance is an auto insurance marketplace that serves motorists in all 50 states and DC. The sole purpose of its existence is to match you with the best rates it can find from across its network of insurance carriers. According to Allied Auto Insurance, it has deals going as low as $19 per month – and we don’t need to tell you that’s seriously cheap.

Pros and Cons

Pro: As we hinted above, the beautiful thing about Allied Auto Insurance’s matching service is that it has the ability to pull in some seriously low rates. Allied works with multiple insurance partners, forcing each one to compete for your attention. The result is that the insurers offer great rates – going as low as $19/month, or about the same as the cost of filling up almost half a tank of gas in your vehicle.

Con: Like other marketplaces, it’s important to note here that Allied Auto Insurance is only a matching service. It is not an insurance carrier or broker. AAI exists to find you insurance. Once it connects you with an insurer, you still need to go through the process of completing a formal application and signing off on all the formalities.

Types of Auto Insurance

Being a marketplace, Allied Auto Insurance can connect you with any standard type of coverage you need. Following are the six basic types of coverage that its partnering insurance carriers can build into your policy.

Bodily Injury Liability. Covers you for all costs related to bodily injuries suffered by other drivers when you are at fault.

Property Damage Liability. Covers you for all costs related to damage of another person’s property when you are at fault.

Collision. Covers you for all costs related to vehicle repair and replacement if your vehicle is damaged in a collision, regardless of who was at fault.

Comprehensive. Covers all repairs and replacement costs if your vehicle suffers damage in a non-collision incident such as fire, flood, vandalism, theft, or hitting an animal.

Personal Injury Protection. Covers medical and rehabilitation expenses for you and your passengers, and some insurers also cover lost wages.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist. Covers the other driver’s liabilities if they are uninsured or underinsured.

Additional Features

One weakness of the Allied Auto Insurance platform is that it doesn’t offer any information about add-ons. That being said, the fact it works with a wide range of insurance carriers means it can almost certainly help hook you up with the following.

Gap coverage. In a total loss, this add-on covers the gap between the depreciated value and the money you still owe on your car.

Rental reimbursement. Guarantees you get a temporary replacement if your regular car has to go to the shop due to a covered incident.

Roadside assistance. Guarantees you get emergency assistance for things like flat tyres or being locked out of your vehicle.

Rideshare coverage. Covers people who use their car for Uber another ridesharing platform.

Equipment coverage. Covers loss or damage to equipment you installed in your vehicle (as opposed to equipment that comes with the car).

How to Apply

There are 3 steps to getting vehicle coverage through Allied Auto Insurance. First, you must be prepared to spend a few minutes filling out your details. Then, AAI finds the best matches, showing you important details like monthly premium and level of coverage. Finally, you have the option of clicking on one of the carriers to complete the purchase.

When you request a quote from Allied Auto Insurance, you are asked to fill out fairly standard details. These include:

Personal details, e.g. name, email address, phone number, and home address (and repeat for co-applicants).

Vehicle details, e.g. includes year, make, model, and body style, as well as details about mileage, when you purchased the vehicle, and whether you were the original owner (and repeat for additional vehicles).

Driving history, e.g. info about previous claims, accidents, and your insurance history.

Details about things that could qualify you for a discount, e.g. military service, age, vehicle security features.

Filing a Claim

It’s important for us to emphasize that Allied Auto Insurance is purely a matching service. Unlike insurance agencies, it doesn’t get involved in claims. AAI will help you compare and connect to insurance carriers, but be aware that all claims must go directly through your carrier or agent.

Contact Details

One of the big advantages to Allied Auto Insurance is that it offers a combination of online and phone service. Most matching services make you do everything over the internet and don’t offer actual assistance. But not AAI: if at any time you wish to speak to a customer service rep, just call AAI on (877) 404-1208 or (855) 953-2217.

Summary

Allied Auto Insurance states on its homepage that it exists to connect users with car insurance carriers – and this is exactly what it does. If you’re looking to quickly compare deals from different carriers, then AAI is a good place to start. Allied Auto Insurance doesn’t just help you compare rates. It actually lets you compare rates tailored to your personal and driving profile.
