Advantages Over Traditional Banks

TD Bank combines many of the benefits of online banking with the infrastructure of traditional banks. This bank offers a variety of products, including checking and savings accounts, personal loans, mortgages, IRAs, and credit cards, all of which can be managed online or through the TD Bank mobile app.

At the same time, you have the option to visit more than 1,300 physical bank branches, the majority of which are open 7 days a week. TD Bank also offers 24/7 customer support, so you can get help with your account whenever you need it.

Cutting-Edge Banking Services

TD Bank’s mobile app enables you to deposit checks at any time simply by scanning them with your phone. You can also use the free mobile bill pay center to pay all of your bills online, including the ones that require TD Bank to mail a paper check on your behalf. Of course, the app also makes it simple to transfer money between your checking and savings accounts at TD or to any other TD Bank accounts.

 Traditional Banking Services

TD Bank was a traditional bank before it moved into online banking. This bank has over 1,300 physical branches, although most of them are on the East Coast. The majority of branches are open 7 days a week and for extended hours, making it easier to visit if you work during typical banking hours.

TD Bank also has nearly 2,000 ATMs on the East Coast. Depending on your account type and current balance, the bank will even reimburse you if you use a competitor’s ATM.

You can use TD Bank for more than just checking and savings, too. The bank supports personal loans and mortgages as well as IRAs. In addition, TD has several reward credit card options.

 Interest Rates and Fees

TD Bank has a variety of different account tiers, which can make it slightly confusing to get started.

For checking, the options are:

  • Simple account: comes with a $5.99 monthly account fee and no balance requirements.
  • Convenience: has a $15 monthly account fee, but it’s waived if you keep a balance of $100.
  • Beyond: also has a $15 monthly account fee, but it can be waived if you have a balance of $2,500 or receive direct deposits totaling at least $5,000 per month.

The advantage of the Beyond account is that you get 2 free overdrafts per year, reimbursed ATM fees, and 0.01% interest.

For Savings, the options are Simple, Beyond, and Growth. All three have a monthly account fee of $15, but it is waived if you link a Beyond checking account. Interest rates start at 0.01% up to $20,000.

Customer Service

TD Bank offers customer service over the phone 24/7. You can also visit a physical branch to get help with your account.

 Phone: 1-888-751-9000

 Mobile Apps

TD Bank’s mobile app is a key part of the online banking experience. It offers instant check deposits, seamless money transfers, and a mobile bill pay center. You can also link your debit or credit cards from TD Bank to manage all of your finances in a single place.

 Security

TD Bank offers two-factor authentication and fingerprint authentication to enable you to securely log into your account. You can also lock and unlock your debit or credit cards in seconds from the mobile app if they’re ever lost or stolen. TD Bank also sends SMS or email alerts whenever there is unusual activity in your account.

 Summary

TD Bank combines the qualities of both physical and online banking. This bank offers a wide variety of services, including checking and savings, loans and mortgages, IRAs, and credit cards. If you live on the East Coast, you can take advantage of TD’s 1,300-plus branches.

TD doesn’t offer the most competitive interest rates if you have a small account balance, but we appreciate that it’s easy to waive your monthly account fee and take control of your finances through the mobile app.

Too expensive / little benefit for cost 1. The account took forever to open. Was not painless nor convenient. More like "America's most inconvenient bank" 2. Monthly maintenance fee of $25..c'mon man, who does that 3. No real benefit to either type of checking account. --Save your money, don't spend it with a bank who hords it and charges you to do so.

    Easy to use!

Easy to use simple checking account. You only need to maintain a minimum of $100 so you don't have to pay the monthly maintenance fee. Compared to others which are $1.5k+ Good customer service (over the phone). Easy to deposit money. Overall, best bank I've had so far. The only negative thing I can say about them is they hire questionable people to work in their bank. Most of the time, they are unprofessional and goof off in front of the customers which makes it feel like a high school or something. Oh and I don't know why but on the app, I was never able to do an external transfer.

Do not open an account through TD bank, read my experince

I was with this bank for 15 years and I wish I would have changed banks a long time ago. You have to constantly check on your accounts because they will find anything so they can put a fee on the account and sometimes I’ve had fees applied for no reason at all. It wasn’t until td bank took it upon themselves to change my minimum balance to 15k that I decided I needed to find a new bank because what this caused was over $100 in fees because I was not maintaining 15k balance and unfortunately I did not pick up on it for a few months because I got lazy about checking the online statement and app and they could not refund me all the fees even knowing I did not authorize there to be any change in my minimum balance and never would I ever make it 15k. It’s been over a month of me trying to close these accounts and I’m still having issues doing so because whenever I deplete the account of funds they fee me and want me to pay the fee before I close it. I can not tell you how many fees I’ve had to fight to get refunded and I truly believe they just throw them in there and hope you don’t notice. Whenever I call customer service depending on who you talk to it a different story. I was told numerous times I can close an account over the phone and I’d talk to someone and they would tell me I have to wait a day then call back so I do that at there’s an “issue” and they can’t close it come to find out you can not close an account over the phone. So now the worlds most “convenient” bank is making me go into a branch during a pandemic and 8 months pregnant to try and close these accounts and hope they can remove the fees that have been adding up due to the balance being 0. Meanwhile everyone on the phone told me to make the balance 0 and I will not have any fees. I can’t make this stuff up. So please do not use TD bank they are one big headache.

I was discriminated against at the Coral Springs Branch

On 04-21-21 I was discriminated against at this bank by Kris Taki& his manager. I came in with my cousin to assist him to opened a business account. We are both busy and worked full time job, however I managed to get off work early and he was able to do so as well so, we decided to go opened the business account. I understand that my cousin did not have the proper attire because he had came from work and we only had 40 min to make it to the bank before they close. I thought that it didn't matter how you look as long as you present the proper documents everything should be fine. I was 100% wrong. The minute we walk in I saw the unwelcoming looked they had on their faces. Make a long story short, Kris Taki & his manager made it impossible for us to opened a business account. We gave them everything they asked for but as soon as we did he would ask for additional information to make sure that account was not opened. 1. I gave him actual business EIN copy from the IRS site. 2. Sunbiz page showing that the business is legally registered with the state. 3. I'd & social 4. I 6 letters with the business address including 3 utility bill. After I presented all that to him he said he now needs a tax copy and a lease agreement copy. I said OK let me pull up the copy online, while I'm trying to pull the copy online he said even if you do pull it up you will still need additional information. He also asked me if the office address is real because TD Bank is strict and they may do walk on site and we must be in the office if they do walk in. At that point it was pretty obvious that he just was not going to helped us no matter what. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager came by and approved everything he said. I knew they were lying because I have white friends who has business account with this bank and they never was treated or asked for all these documents. Worst experience I ever had at any bank!! This location is prejudice and racist Do not go there if you want good and equal service

I had not choice but to give one star…

I had not choice but to give one star in order to write the review---no stars in the negative. Where to start---since we began banking with them, there has been one dysfunction after another--but the folks at the branch knew us and were excellent local representatives. Well, we couldn't have that, so now you never see the same tellers or managers at the bank twice. The local branch is closing. They made a production of customers not having to alert them if they were going out of the country (U.S.), so our daughter took her TD bank card to the U.K. as she had done before, which allowed us to put funds into her account...well, the bank blocked her account and refused to do anything to help, except suggest to her that she do a costly bank transfer to remove her money and close the account. Helpful, right? We will close our accounts, too, which is a hassle because we have automatic deposit---acquired when tellers were there for more than a week and were helpful. So, customer service tells you how to close your account after the company has made the mistake....I am so sorry we ever began banking at "America's most convenient bank"--well, they gave up that slogan pretty quickly, after they began to limit service and opening hours----I suspect this place is going under.

Terrible bank, terrible customer service, stay away

In short, TD Bank is refusing to honor the terms of the promotion and pay a bonus. I opened a checking account at TD Bank on 09/14/20.They were offering a sign up bonus of $300 if certain criteria were met. I met the criteria and when no bonus posted within the specified timeframe, reached out to the bank. I was informed that I wasn't eligible for the bonus because I had previously earned a bonus in 2018 and terms of the offer state 'one bonus account per Customer and cannot be combined with any other offer'. I countered by pointing out that terms also state 'Checking offer is available to new personal checking customers who do not have an existing or prior personal checking account at TD Bank within the preceding 12 months'. This language is not ambiguous and clearly I'm eligible because last time I had an account was 2018. I was again told that the account is not eligible for the offer.

TD Bank Customer Service is Horrid!!

I bought ProForm equipment, which is financed through TD Bank. First TD Bank's website did not work, then their customer service rep was beyond rude on the phone, so I mailed a check and paid in full. Though they cashed my check (I have proof), they began to charge me late fees and send me letters saying I had an outstanding balance. Tried to 1) mail them a letter with the check attached, 2) call them on the phone multiple times (could never get through after waiting more than an hour). Never could get help with resolution. SO, they reported me to the credit bureaus, immediately decreasing my score significantly! TD Bank is awful. Avoid at all costs!

    Not a huge fan

I like that they try and keep longer than normal bank hours and to be a little considerate to the working public. Beyond that they’re a garbage company. They’ve been next to useless during the pandemic time period always making excuses to avoid doing normal bank tasks even though I gave them all my paperwork and ids and other things they asked for. I wish this industry wasn’t entirely dominated by even worse firms because I’d leave TD in a heartbeat if there was a semi-decent one in the bunch of nuts.

WITH TD BANK, PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOU ARE DEALING WITH…

PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOU ARE DEALING WITH TORONTO DOMINION BANK OF CANADA. I opened two accounts to qualify for a promotion that ended Sept 9, 2020. I found the promotion on the internet and opened the savings account with more than the minimum and opened the required checking account and directed direct deposit accounts to satisfy the second requirement for the promotion. I attempted to speak with my local branch to verify I did it all correctly. They did not answer the phone during July 2020 so I attempted to contact the home office of this foreign bank in Toronto Canada. Like the local branch, they too did not answer the phone. I tried to communicate with my local branch and several weeks later I was able to speak with someone locally to ask ifthey had my account and if I qualified. They said I would have to enter online. I explained that I DID. They said I would have to talk to corporate because my promotion was with them. End result..............I did not qualify even though I exceeded all requirements for savings and checking by triple. To add insult, they attempted to charge me $15.00 service charge while I had over $30,000 in my accounts at the time. TD Bank has a NASTY customer service reputation on the internet. It's too bad I didn't find this information before I dealt with a FOREIGN BANK.

THE WORST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Either they are not very knowledgeable, lazy, or both. No one contacted me to let me know they closed my account (that's just a whole other story), and on top of that, spoke to at least 7 different reps and got pretty much 7 different answers and updates. I am still trying to get them to send me my balance by check, which they assured me it would be done. Two months later, still no check and dealing with the local branch now. I probably had about a total of 9 different bank accounts in my lifetime and this is by far the worst bank ever. NO CONTEST.

TD has always been my bank, lackluster for others, lucky due to long term student account from college

TD has always been my bank. Unfortunately, it's not too cheap on fees and minimum balances, but they do allow wiggle room with overdraft protection and the ability to wave certain penalties. At least my branch made me aware of certain possible fees prior to starting accounts. However, still strongly think that TD is not the best bank in America. I'm lucky enough to have a student account, from when I was in college. Although it does not have many features, the fees and rules aren't as in depth or complex. By far the most bare-bones account that one can have. The only thing is, you have to be a student of course to get one. So I feel for all the people who switch to TD after it's too late. Their simple and premiere checking is not that good compared to other accounts/banks. If it weren't for my student account, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

About 30 minutes later I get a rep and explain my situation and they tell me to go to the local branch because they can’t help me over the phone... at this point the bank is closed...why do I have to go to a branch to reset my password... I am going to close my account with them in about 4 hours when I go to the branch.

Service became so bad I closed my acct

Service became so bad I closed my acct. I saw a trend with this bank. When it purchased Commerce Bank, they were very good with their service. Now it has become unreliable and rather rude with their customers, as if they do not care to lose customers. Their branches vary wildly with quality. One branch may be helpful and knowledgeable, but if you stop in another, they may be rude and have no knowledge dealing with non-profit organizations. Their 1-800 number has you speaking with a representative that have no powers to do anything on their end other than making notes. Also they provide incorrect information. One time I spoke with a representative asking for an older card without contactless pay and they told me they would ask their supervisor if it was possible. She came back and said yes, they can send me an older card. The card I received still had contactless pay. Why would this representative tell me this when it isn't true? Their server went down January 31, 2020, Friday, for hours continent-wide. According to their "Store Manager", it had been down since the branch opened. I had stopped in during my lunch period from work at 1:00 pm EST to get a new debit card, but was turned away because their servers were down and were not able to print debit cards. This means they had been down for at least 6 hours. I couldn't even get money out of the ATM machine. Complaints online via Twitter and Facebook from customers not being able to log in to their account. That was when I said this is the last straw. I do not trust this bank with my money. I closed my account and went elsewhere. Sad they have gone from America's Most Convenient Bank to America's Most Inconvenient Bank in my book. I had been with them for 6-8 years.

Beware of the TD Bank Seymour CT Location

I am not surprised this establishment is rated a 2.6 out of 5. It should be noted they have awful customer service and poor management. As a long time customer, I was insulted and treated as if I was a Criminal at the TDBank Seymour, CT location by the Teller Supervisor. This supervisor has unsatisfactory customer service skills and would benefit from additional training. I came into the branch after closing my account and received a “refund” for what should have been a payment towards a gas company. The teller supervisor Dominic Filippone, told me that the check I received from TD Bank was a counterfeit check as “it was not the right size, the color was off, along with the perforation.” He further stated “he had no idea how I had obtain this check as his establishment did not mail it to me.” It should be noted that a few days later after Filippone conducted some additional research he finally figured out that the check I received was not counterfeit as he first claimed. You would think I would have received an apology, instead he proceeded to tell me he would not refund the fee I was asking for, which I obtained due to the banks mistake. He indicated that because I no longer had an account with their bank there was nothing that could be done. Please NEVER do business with this establishment. Based upon my experience I will NEVER do business with TD Bank. Not only do they have atrocious security, but apparently their staff do not receive adequate training which is why I took my business elsewhere. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? Not at the Seymour TD Bank location!

    Disorganized bank

Disorganized bank! They advertise loans for people who don't have personal banking with TD Bank. to apply! for their loan products without any issues. However when I've applied for 25k I got denied! Reason provided is my credit score of 730 because I don't have a personal account with TD bank ?? It would be approved only if I had an account ? They advise me to "open account than wait 30 days and apply again" ?? Why TD Bank falsely advertise your products and you didn't mention this ? I could just open an account in less than 5 min before I applied if that was an issue ?? Instead I got a hard inquiry now that remains for 2 years and my time wasted ! Be careful with this bank!
