Pros and Cons

Pro: The biggest advantage to using a local insurance agency like Dasher is obviously the deep knowledge and familiarity with the needs of local residents. If you live in southeast Georgia, you could go directly to the insurance companies to enquire about vehicle coverage rates; or you could enlist the help of Dasher to get you the best deal possible.

Con: In this day and age, we find it surprising when an insurance agent doesn’t let you apply online. Unfortunately, this is the case with Dasher. To get a quote, you’ll need to use the contact form on Dasher’s website or pick up the phone and call the office directly. Dasher’s website is purely for informational purposes and doesn’t have a quote-request form.

Types of Auto Insurance

Through its 13 partner insurance companies, Dasher is able to set its customers up with every possible type of auto coverage one could possibly need.

Bodily Injury Liability. Covers all expenses related to bodily injuries suffered by other drivers when you are at fault. Compulsory in Georgia with a minimum $25,000 limit per person or $50,000 per accident.

Property Damage Liability. Covers all expenses related to damage of another person’s property when you are at fault. Compulsory in Georgia with a minimum $25,000 limit.

Collision. Covers expenses related to vehicle repair and replacement if your vehicle is damaged in a collision, regardless of who was at fault. Voluntary in Georgia.

Comprehensive. Covers repairs and replacement if your vehicle suffers damage in a non-collision incident such as fire, flood, vandalism, theft, or hitting an animal. Voluntary in Georgia.

Medical Payments / Personal Injury Protection. Covers medical and rehabilitation expenses, and in some cases lost wages for you and any passengers, no matter who was at fault. Voluntary in Georgia.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist. Covers the other driver’s liabilities if they are uninsured or underinsured. Voluntary in Georgia (but highly recommended, given Georgia is a “fault” insurance state where the driver deemed legally responsible for an accident is liable for all damages). According to Dasher, uninsured motorist coverage is relatively cheap and guarantees you added protection in the event of an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver.

Additional Features

Dasher works with a range of insurers, from large nationwide insurance companies like Progressive, through to smaller insurance companies. As such, Dasher can help its customers with all types of additional features and add-ons. Read on for examples.

Antique car. Antique cars have special needs and for that some of Dasher’s insurance partners offer special coverage.

SR-22 insurance. In Georgia, drivers deemed “high risk” are obligated to purchase SR-22 car insurance. Dasher can help with this.

Rental assistance. Covers the cost of a rental vehicle to get you by until your car comes out of the shop.

Emergency roadside assistance. For emergency assistance whenever you’re stuck on the interstate or back roads.

Discounts. Dasher’s partners offer a wide range of discounts and rewards, including: bundling, homeowners, electronic pay, safe driver program, and installing security features in the vehicle.

How to Apply

As mentioned above, Dasher doesn’t accept applications online. To get a quote from Dasher, you’ll need to call the agency directly or fill out the contact form on the Dasher website. With Dasher, you get personalized assistance with finding the best coverage to suit your needs – and at the best possible rate.

In order to give you a quote, your Dasher representative will ask you for the following details:

  • Driver details (you and additional drivers): Name, address, contact details, date of birth, credit score.

  • Vehicle details: Make, model, year, type of ownership, etc.

  • Driving record (you and additional drivers): Includes information about any claims or accidents in the past 3 years.

  • Discounts: Dasher’s partners offer a range of discounts and rewards. In order to find out which ones you qualify for, your Dasher support rep will ask you about things like home ownership and safety devices in your vehicle.

Filing a Claim

Dasher’s website doesn’t provide any clues as to how the claims process works. Generally speaking, some local insurance agents like to help their customers with claims – saving the customer the trouble of going directly to the insurance agent. We recommend speaking to Dasher about the claims process before signing the final documents on your policy.

Contact Details

As discussed, Dasher doesn’t offer any online support. To speak to Dasher about auto insurance, we recommend filling out the contact form on the Dasher website or calling Dasher directly. Dasher provides customer support during regular business hours, with breaks for lunch from 12pm-1pm. Note that Dasher’s office closes at midday on Wednesdays.

Dasher has relationships with 13 car insurance companies – from big insurers like Progressive to smaller, lesser-known providers.
